I have a small vial that I have tried in various climate conditions over the last year. In all seasons this fragrance reads as cloying, heavy, headache-inducing, sweet, and powdery on me. The initial blast is overwhelmingly floral and sweet while the white orchid in the base is thick and on my skin almost sickeningly sweet. It’s sweet on top of sweet, but not gourmand. The projection is on the heavier end of moderate and the longevity quite long lasting, longer still if it gets on my clothing.
There is absolutely nothing subtle or delicate about this scent, not in the top notes and not in the dry down. If you are interested in making a statement with your perfume, I’d say give this a try. The dry-down would probably be pleasing to anyone looking for a very warm and intensely sweet vanilla scent with good longevity, but for me this was a complete scrubber.

I just got the vial version of this fragrance the other day and decided to test it out before committing to the full size. I can say, right of the bat, that the orange blossom is headache inducing, as it has always been for me. Luckily, it mellows down pretty quickly, so I did not get the urge to scrub if off. Oriental Summer No. 11 is a pleasant fragrance in this cold weather, evocative of hot summers spent at the seaside in Greece. I know, not very oriental, but then I have not been in any country that could be named as part of the Orient.
However, you can smell the wonderfully strong and clean jasmine in Greece in summer. And you can also smell orange blossom in the fragrances people choose to wear there, in that season. I am not sure about the vanilla orchid, but Oriental Summer does have a vanilla note that stays with you until the end.
To sum it up, this fragrance starts off with heady, sweet, floral notes, then mellows down into something cozy but still sweet. It lasts at least 10 hours on my skin, although it is not a powerhouse when it comes to sillage. It is not my favorite from The Master Perfumer, but I think they have something for everyone in their line. If you can get a hold of their fragrances, give them a try, because there is very little space for regret after buying them (i.e. they are very affordable).
