The only problem with this fragrance is the CAP!!! I just leave it off. That’s probaby why Neimans gave up on it This and Santa Domingo are the TRUTH!! People dont know, and I don’t want to tell them. One of my fav orientals, and I have 300+ bottles. RaJuR real deep kool on YouTube

    Lush.
This fragrance is perfectly lush with only a few carefully blended notes. Each note does its job perfectly – the sweetness of the honey, the bitterness in the almond, the richness in the cocoa, the creaminess in the carnosa, the earthiness of the patch. It’s simply and perfectly balanced.
While it’s loaded with flavor notes, it’s not gourmand. It’s a warm, lush scent that people want to be near. Expect people to move their chair closer to you because it’s so warm and welcoming.
Oscar, Mi Amor, did you discontinue this? My bottle is empty.

When I first met Oscar de la renta oriental lace in hiland mall,I didn’t pay much attention.it was unfamiliar(Oscar de la renta isn’t a well-known brand where I live)and I had lots of other things to try in my testlist.but when I returned home and checked it on fragrantica I was surprised to see it’s note’s list.cacao, honey and almond are among my most favorite notes and recently I’m growing to like patchouli,at least in sweet fragrances.oriental lace seemed to be right up my alley and I was so angry with myself because of passing it easily, specially because it was heavily discounted(100 ml bottle less than 75$!!! while it’s before-discount price was more than 100$)I never stopped thinking and dreaming, also talking about it and I was looking forward to the day that my friend wanted to go back there and buy a bottle for herself,so I could borrow a sniff and decide about it
But before all these happen,my hubby surprised me with a bottle of oriental lace.I couldn’t remember the scent so I didn’t know I’d really like it or not.it’s packaging and bottle is very high quality and expensive looking.opening blast is sharp and kind of wierd, maybe due to medicinal patchouli,it made me to think of TM angel for a second but it doesn’t take much time to settle down to a gorgeous honey-cacao combo which is to die for.it’s not a simple combination of patchouli, honey and cacao as in forexample lady million prive.there’s a soft, powdery flowery thing with a hint of fruity naunces, something very new to my nose that shines through cacao and honeyed patchouli darkness and makes the overall scent very unique, elegant and softly feminine.I know wax plant responsible for this beauty
As time passes I can pick up almond but it’s not strong enough to make it very powdery or dry so if you’re not much of an almond lover don’t worry
If you like these notes you’re gonna love this fragrance for sure.all the notes appear in their best forms.very well blended and none of them overpowers the other ones and the result is this heavenly gorgeous, magical scent
Oriental lace is sweet but with a pleasant bitterish edge of patchouli, almond and cacao that balance the sweetness and prevent it from becoming a syrupy overwly sweet honey perfume.oriental lace is a modern gourmand but with classic oriental sophistication.it’s unique and easy to wear and easy to like at the same time.I’m very happy to have it and can’t stop smelling myself.I’d love to bath in it but I decided to save it for special occasions and nights out.I believe it’s a cold weather perfume and it shows it’s best in cool temperature.it’s wearable in day but I’d prefer it for evenings and nights.I can’t tell about it’s longevity yet but sillage isn’t weak while it’s not invasive either.it stays soft while I can enjoy catching it’s delicious whiffs after three hours of application
If you’re looking for a niche like and very high quality gourmand with an oriental twist don’t miss it.it’s lovely, sexy and beautiful
    ❤❤❤❤❤
P.s:Longevity is about 5 hours on my skin.sillage is heavy at first half an hour then becomes moderate

I love this. I want this. Two proper testings and I am sold. It may not be one of Oscar’s most memorable fragrances, but to me it has a Guerlain character. Not in fortitude, of course (silage moderate at best, longevity 3 hours), but in the high quality, all-consuming yumminess that is characteristic of so many Guerlains. Bordering gourmand. It is a -eat your wrist – whoops it’s a perfume- kind of perfume. It is all sugary almonds, without the toothache, and the huge hole in your wallet. Delectable!

Would anyone who has this like to swap a 10 ml decant for any decant from my have list or a full bottle from my had list? I’ve been dying to try it before I rush off and blind buy yet another full bottle, lol! Send me a message if you’re interested, I would love to work something out!

Soft, close to skin, light, pleasant and little sweet, longevity is a couple of hours on me. That makes it good for a warm weather day or bed time.

    Sensual, enigmatic, haunting.
The first blast hits me with strong, medicinal patchouli and there is something that gives honey a bitter taste. Almonds, maybe? Spiciness from cloves is also very detectable. The opening phase is definitely oriental, but without “lace”.
I wait for twenty minutes. The scent morphs into the most hypnotizing note of beeswax. Patchouli is still there, so it never gets too sweet. I start dreaming about Southern summer nights… I’m wearing golden sandals and black provocative dress on a perfectly tanned body. There is no need for smokey eyes – the scent I’m wearing is already quite expressive.
An hour later, the dream becomes reality. The honey suddenly unfolds with the most beautiful olibanum note I’ve ever smelt. Cloves are gone for good. Now this is a warm, enveloping scent to soothe the senses. I finally get where the word “lace” came from.
From the notes listed above, you could expect an ultimate gourmand (maybe even foody) blend. I’m not a gourmand lover. Fortunately for me, the dry down is almost incense-y, so the sweetness here is perfectly tolerable.
Wear it when you crave the Sun’s heat on your skin.
This is a pyramid according to the official website:
    Fragrance Notes:
    • Top: Cloves, Freesia Petals, Dominican Bitter Almond
    • Heart: Laos Beeswax, Dominican Honey,Dominican Hoya Carnosa
    • Base: Indonesian Patchouli, Vetiver, Cocoa Absolute, Olibanum

Well, I’m a gourmand lover, and bought this based off reviews here. I’m not disappointed, but I can say on me, it’s not a super strong gourmand. I get some floral in this, and I don’t detect the almond at all, and I love almond. I do sense the honey though. I don’t get a lot of patchouli, and that’s okay by me, as sometimes that note seems to dominate the other notes.
I’m super glad I tried this. I don’t know why they named it Oriental Lace, as it doesn’t strike me as an Oriental perfume. No citrus notes are listed, but I do seem to smell citrus what it’s first sprayed. After the top notes fade, I no longer detect that though. Must be the blend of notes tricking my nose.
Update: I first tried this through my scentbird subsricption, so I knew I liked it, and I just found it at TJ Maxx! I got a full 3.4 oz bottle for only $20.00. I just couldn’t believe my good luck. This bottle, and packaging is quality. I still wish it was more gourmand, but it’s a nice perfume nonetheless.

I am surprised our gourmies didn’t leave here some dozen of reviews yet
Come over, bees, come right here!:p
Would afraid to wear it outside, as wasps and bees love their hoya carnosas. So what about scent itself… Bottle looks sophisticated, the scent is…everyone knows already how smells combination of vanilla with cacao and almonds, so I guess perfumer here just scratched his head and added “hoya carnosa” to cover all that concoction by chocolaty-cherry nuances, as its how Porcelain Flower smells like, to make sure you get how REALLY sweet this fragrance is. Its not an oriental to me at all, but big time gourmand. It’s a nice one, though.

Smells just like root beer, or maybe a root beer float!

Definitely for vanilla lovers, opens with strong vanilla and freesia. on my skin I feel patchouli-vanilla-olibanum on dry down. Reminds my of orthodox church incense and something very sweet and familiar. I think it is mature scent, but I don’t find it very oriental.
UPD, after some research found out that the nose behind all the Essential Luxuries line of Oscar de la Renta is Calice Becker, what a surprise! She created most of by Killian fragrances.

WOW! This fragrance is amazing. All honey, hoya and cacao on me. Very feminine and definitely a gourmand fragrance. Looking at the notes you might imagine it to be heavy or cloyingly sweet but it isnt at all. The patchouli is subtle like the almond. I have sniffed hundreds of fragrances over many years and I’ve never smelt anything quite like this.
There is almost a sweet sandalwood effect. The presentation is gorgeous. It looks very designer and it smells expensive and inviting This is definitely going straight up into my top 10.

Not for me. On my skin it turns a bit male’ish. but on a man I think it would be gorgeous.
Inget för mig. På mig blir den manlig. Men på en karl blir den nog gudomligt god.

Yum. Not edible, but still delicious somehow.
I wouldn’t guess the cacao or almonds, but the patchouli stands out boldly. There is some animalic here from the honey.
Need to test this again as it is So pleasant. The lasting power is somewhat low with a medium sillage. Moderate weather seems to suit it.

    Very strong and Very Pretty!
After the initial POW, the heart and drydown on my skin resemble a less spicy and sweet L de Lolita. Not that they are identical otherwise, but I would call them cousins. It’s enough of a resemblance at least to bring L de Loltia to mind. 🙂 That said, my chemistry is likely to alter the fragrance somewhat.
I can happily recommend this to Oriental Lovers, especially those used to powerful and opinionated Orientals, rather than the sweet variety. If you’re seeking a honey and cacao fragrance, look elsewhere. The honey and cacao are well blended and not at all prominent.
To me, the drydown is redolent of soft almonds, good powder, and something slightly woody. Although other notes are present, none really jump out and grab me. Good longevity and sillage throughout give me a sense of wearing a fragrance from an earlier era… In a good way!
To sum up – a gorgeous Oriental that seems significantly different than it’s few listed notes. While the sum is obviously more than the parts, it may disappoint those simply seeking sweet honey and cacao.
Rating – 4 stars, 5 if the price was lower! 😀

This is my next acquisition. I purchased the miniatures and found four of the six enchanting.Oriental Lace was the naturally pretty sister of the group. Spritely, it fades into a warm hum on the skin.

Starts off as really sweet vanilla, then eventually dries down into a light vanilla sandalwood.
It’s almost a lighter version of Nirvana Black, on me.
Unfortunately, not very oriental, nor lacey, for that matter.
Update: i am enamoured with Oriental Lace these days. I tested it again in the winter and it is incredibly cozy and warm. The opening is an addictive mix of sweetish spices. The drydown reminds me of sweetened condensed milk — the thick stuff you buy in cans. Love all the stages in this perfume. FBW.

Wow! There is a perfume with the Hoya scent in it! I need to try this. I once had a Hoya/wax plant (it’s a hanging plant) and when it bloomed, (I timed this and yes, it really did this)at precisely 8:00pm for every night that the blooms lasted, it would release its fragrance and perfume the entire living room. It is one of the most beautiful smelling flowers, in my humble opinion. I remember it smelling like a cross between a gardenia, a lily and an orange blossom, with just a hint of spiciness. It wasn’t cloying or heavy, though, but its scent wafted through the room space and soothed my spirits as I relaxed for the evenings. It always released its fragrance at 8:00pm, every night that it had blooms. This is the Hoya with the purple blossoms, just like in the picture. I no longer have the plant, and I need to get another one! I need to find a sample of this, as I have wanted a Hoya perfume for several years. It is a beautiful, unique scent, familiar but yet you can’t quite define it. Okay Oscar de la Renta, I’m going to track you down! I just hope the honey in this fragrance doesn’t drown out the beautiful Hoya.

Very well done fragrance. Starts out with a blast of sweetness. It’s creamy, floral, powdery, and warm to my nose. This is great for the holidays or for night time. Projects well, lasts a good amount of time. Under rated scent in my opinion. Unisex. Try it.

This starts with a punch. A dry typical oriental spritz. I would say it is a nice well made oriental, but not significantly different from others out there, and certainly not worth $150!?
Only if you a looking for a classic oriental scent, with all the right ingredients.

Such an interesting perfume! And I do mean perfume. It has a vintage edge to me in spite of the truly modern notes. It starts off with an aldehydic sparkle which lasts for about 15 minutes for me.There’s no mention of this in the notes~and I most definately could be wrong~but I’m not sure how else you can get this type of fizz to a fragrance. I can also smell a fruity vibe to it as well. Something just on the fringe of juicy right around the very edges playing hide and seek, not letting itself be identified. I have no idea what wax plant smells like but if the notes are complete in Fragrantica’s listing on this fragrance~wax plant must be quite influencial in this composition.
All in all I get quite a coa cola vibe in the begining and them BAM! HONEY! It’s like it just falls out of the sky and saturates everything in this fragrance with it’s presence. It’s entrance is quite dramatic and one of my favorite parts of this perfumes development. The cocao arrives a few minutes later and takes this through a luscious shade of dusky warmness…..all the while keeping this vintage~ish feeling to everything.
The almonds are dressed up in fancy perfume attire and while this is appropriate for daily use it can also be perfect for an evening out….anywhere. Quite well done, but I’m not really into the classics. If you are~this one would be something that I would not miss trying:)
