Description
Yves Saint Laurent launches a limited edition of its fragrance Opium (the recent version from 2009) named Opium Collector’s Edition. It comes in a luxuriously redesigned golden bottle.
Glamorous, passionate and wicked, Opium has been ruling the market since it came out in 1977 in its original formula. Provocative name and intense, distinctive aroma of oriental – floral – spicy character brought it the title of one of the most popular fragrances of the 20th century. Its reformulated version, adapted to modern buyers, was presented in 2009 in the bottle designed by YSL art director Fabien Baron and Stefano Pilati.
The formula of this new fragrance begins with fresh bergamot and mandarin, which quickly give way to intense Sambac jasmine, clove and myrrh, laid on the warm base of oppoponax, patchouli and amber.
The new, limited-edition version is available from autumn 2013 as 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

Opium is probably the best selling and most famous oriential fragrance. It is my favourite so far and was my paternal grandmother’s signature scent. When this edition came out I was very attracted to the beautiful gold bottle. Having not actually owned a full size at the time I decided to buy this one.
Fantastic, spicy, resins, I detect the bay leaf from the original, not listed above. Fantastic sillage and longevity.
My love for this has prompted me to recently purchase the vintage pure parfum version. It has yet to arrive but I’m extremely excited to experience its magic.

I have just recieved this and sprayed it a 50ml bottle for a bargain i also have the vintage opium i put this on one arm and the vintage on another and theres no difference infact i think this one is a little stronger and much fresher well pleased with it thankyou ebay

this is something between old and new addition of opium, the myrrh and opoponax is dominat like the new version however you can also smelll spicy nuances.

Women’s fragrances that I get compliments on by women and straight men; Opium EDP, Flowerbomb cream, Angel EDP, Womanity EDP, Shalimar EDP, Chanel *5, Issey Miyake lotion, Versace Versense, Prada L’Eau Ambree. My favorite though is Opium; smells like when you walk by Cinnabon. That sweet and spicy aroma that captivates you, but since it’s a women’s fragrance, they’re always shocked to hear what I’m wearing 🙂
