Description
The house of Oilily has launched a fragrance named Oilily Classic in September 2011, to accentuate youthful style and poetic spirit which reflects in all editions of the collection. Oilily Classic is actually the popular fragrance Oilily Flowers introduced in 1996, with changed name and packaging. The modern composition favored by numerous teenage girls, remained unchanged and it will rejoice us with fine, fresh and fruity aromas, flowers and sophisticated woody accords.
Top notes incorporate memorable aromas of Sicilian mandarin and Spanish lime. A floral heart offers jasmine, cyclamen and lily of the valley mixed with fruity notes of melon, peach, plum, apple and passionate raspberry. Base notes encompass Serbian oak moss, Indonesian vetiver and sandalwood.
Oilily Classic is available in a new, redesigned flacon with romantic, floral patterns.

To get a feel for the Oilily brand and the style of their fragrances, imagine the first day in early Spring when the mass of flowers have bloomed on a Dutch tulip farm; the point where almost everything has opened and nothing is past its prime. The colors are shockingly bright and cheerful, the grass is glowing green, the sky is technicolor blue with the occasional cotton ball of a cloud passing by, the sunlight is bleaching the wood windmills. It is SPRING on overload.
“Oilily Classic” feels like a bloom packed bouquet with a fluffy yellow feel, like jonquils and mimosa and with a lipstick floral undertone which must be the cyclamen, a fresh, airy vetiver floating around the bouquet and all of it buzzing over a soft, mossy and white woods base.
In classic, Dutch style, there’s the weird dichotomy of a streamlined simplicity mixed with almost kitschy floral-ness to “Oilily Classic”; an overt, sunny prettiness that still manages to seem sophisticated and multi-generational rather than just cutesy. There’s a special modernity to the oakmoss base that is a perfect fit for the bright floral top notes.
“Oilily” fragrances were so special and distinctive. It feels like we now have more options in fragrance than ever before but brand identity is more homogenized than it ever was, too. No one could mistaken the Oilily brand for anything else and “Classic” is a memorable floral scent for those who like pretty florals with a definite kick of whimsy.

This is not fruity or fresh smelling at all.
It’s woody, dry and floral smelling.
The notes I smell most are oakmoss, vetiver and lily-of-the-valley. Slightly sweet.
This would be nice for a young girl that doesn’t want to smell just sickly sweet and fruity, like most do nowadays.
At the same time, this could be viewed as “out-dated” and too “mature” by most young teen girls.

This is one of those fragrances that can either remind you of your childhood or how you’d imagine you’ll smell when getting older. For my dislike, it’s the second option. I found it way too mature smelling… The citrus notes get lost in the flowery musky scent, which is strong and heavy. Absolutely strange… Smells almost like a porcelain doll house. The only pro is that after a couple of hours the scent dies down to a more subtle flower smell, but still too mature for my liking (I’m 22 years old). I would advice you definitely smell this a ton of times before purchasing.

@Habanita: thanks for this posting; I couldn’t say it in a better way 😉 Sugary water – like Versace’s Red Jeans. The times are gone for this kind of perfumes (at least for me).

I wore this as a youngster and looking back, I understand how this fragrance can be deeply “polarizing” in that you will either love it or hate it. Oilily Classic always had very strong projection on my skin, with the sour [from citrus], sweet [from alkaline fruits], floral, and woody notes all poised to assail the senses at once. If this perfume were a young girl, she would be sanguine, vibrant, and peppy w/ a taste for the exotic – perfect for those who want an olfactory waker-upper. But if you want something discreet I suggest skipping on this, especially if you plan to wear it in tropical or humid climes where this scent mingles with the moisture in the air or on the skin, making it slightly overbearing.
