Someone threw this is as an extra for an Ebay deal and I put off trying it because I really don’t do flowers well in perfumes. Can’t tolerate them.
I tried this on without looking at the notes and I must say I really do like it. A strong like. It never makes me sneeze, and unlike some people, I don’t get a vegetal or bug spray scent, nor does it smell ‘old lady’ to me. It must be because of the review, below that said there are two different bottles of this. I received the EDT.
It smells dewey and fresh and never overpowering. Great for Spring right now. The opening is a burst of green floral freshness. I only wish the strong opening stayed the whole way. It has hardly any longevity and I find myself reapplying it too much.

I really enjoy this fragrance. I do think that the name is a misnomer since they can’t actually replicate the fragrance of freesia very well. This fragrance smells of white Easter lilies to me with a touch of nutmeg. I prefer this over the Olene. I do agree with a few of the other reviewers who mentioned that this does not have much lasting power. I have to spray lightly with this one, however, because it has the potential to induce a headache if sprayed too heavily.

I was expecting something fresh, dewy, luscious. Thought I couldn’t go wrong with a linear freesia fragrance. Sadly it doesn’t smell of freesia at all to me. It does smell like real plant matter… but less like fresh freesia and more like a vase of old, rotting lilies. Oddly enough, there’s a certain component to this one that reminds me of the shell of a boiled lobster. That might be what’s making this smell so ‘off’ to me.

Freesia is admittedly not one of my favourite fragrance notes. My dislike stems from my skin’s inability to do this floral note justice. Ofresia by Diptyque however, is quite possibly the only freesia dominant fragrance on the market that my skin actually tolerates.
Ofresia is fairly linear, it’s also not overly complex. The dominant freesia note is clean, dew-kissed and slightly creamy. I would describe Ofresia as a bright, feminine Spring scent.
Ofresia is often recommended as a bridal scent and I can certainly understand why. If this fragrance were a colour it would most certainly be white. Its delicate and airy nature provides the subtlety required for such an event where the bride may not wish to overwhelm her guests.
A dash of pepper in the heart and base of this fragrance keeps Ofresia interesting. It helps balance the overall composition, keeping it from smelling too floral and indolic.
I really enjoy Diptyque’s white soliflores. It’s one niche house you can always rely on to create realistic, wearable scents. Easily accessible and relatively inexpensive, this is one freesia dominant fragrance that I wholeheartedly recommend.

A lilac-green watercolor composition, simple and a bit sharp, on the border of resulting high in pitch but without falling in it completely. A cold eau if compared to the sunnier and crisper Eau Rose and having to choose between the two I’d probably go for the latter but Ofresia remains a nice option if you’re more in the mood for colder tones. Personal snapshot: it reminds me of early morning Edinburgh violet skyies, after another night of endless rain. Ofresia is a girl from the north country.

As two others have noted, the predominant note is jasmine. Of the kind that is used to flavor green tea. Apparently, Diptyque once published that “freesia does not yield fragrant molecules so the Nose must recreate its delicate, wholesome scent with accents of jasmine, bergamot and rosewood.” So that’s why!

May 2016. I’ve been testing this since Feb. My new bottle will be arriving shortly. Did not know there were “versions” of this. I’ve only been introduced to the oval bottled EDT. I LOVE this one. It is so beautiful. To me it is strictly floral. I don’t smell wood, fruit or even pepper. It smells as if the flowers were “juiced” and that liquid is contained in the bottle. FRESH! A bit green. Natural. I am looking forward to wearing this quite a bit this spring and summer. Today my application has lasted all day. Applied early morning and as I lie in bed at 11:30pm I can smell it quite easily.
*As with all Diptyque fragrances, I suggest you test this one on your skin for a day or more before you purchase. They tend to smell differently on everyone depending on body chemistry, weather, skin/clothing, etc.

Well, its all about freesia and pepper. Freesia are tender bulbs that tend to be grown in pots in the UK. I keep mine in my greenhouse through the cokd months. Freesia already has a peppery fragrance so rather surprised for the perfumer to add black pepper. This is definitely a fragrance for freesia fans. I find the smell of freesia can easily be overwhelming but its been handled with care here and I find it a very wearable summer fragrance. Moderate sillage and longevity.

Freesias are my favourite flowers in real life. I mean, they are better than roses, or Jasmin , or hyacinths….mans I truly love all fragrant flowers. But there’s nothing like a bouquet of freesias.
Anyways, in perfumes I never smelled one to actually come close to the real flower.
    Which brings me to Ofresia.
It’s funny how different the reviews for this one are. Scretchy, nails on the chalkboard, bug spray, all contrasting with heavenly softness, divine scent, etc.
Mystery solved. There are 2 version of the scent, and I sampled both. actually 3 including the edp, but I haven’t had the pleasure to test that one. The edt comes in 2 versions : square bottle and round bottle .
The square one, in my experience is the screechy one, sharp and somewhat resembling mosquito repellent. The oval round bottle is a piece of heaven . It truly smells like freesias, not 100 % because some are very creamy, but this is soft , natural , charming, springlike. It makes me feel serene, clean . The silage on this one is super soft, the lasting power quite bad. But it’s so pleasant I just want to smell it before bedtime…it is calming, relaxing…
    So beautiful .
I would love to try the edp too…
But for now, this is a little beauty.
    Recommended only to floral lovers.

Overwhelming screechy, nails on a blackboard freesia floral with pepper and woods in the background. It has a rubbery synthetic vibe to it. Smells a lot like bug spray as others have said. This one is definitely a NO for me.

The freesia opening – delicious! I immediately purchased a full bottle. I wore it that night out to dinner with friends. While in the restaurant I thought that maybe the restaurant had sprayed for bugs earlier in the day as I kept getting this whiff of peppery bug spray. Suddenly it dawned on me – I had to ask my good friend, “does this restaurant smell like it was sprayed for roaches or is it my fragrance?” My friend was so relieved – she was trying to find a kind way to tell me that my new fragrance smelled horrible. Apparently pepper notes “grow” on me and suffocate all of the other delicate flower notes.

    Pepper monster.
It is such a pity, because the freesia note is very realistic; but the pepper, which should make it smell more interesting, actually makes it obnoxious.
I went through a whole bottle a few years ago: always enjoying the fragrance, but only once the terrible top note had faded and I had stopped sneezing.
This is why I won’t repurchase it.

All I got from this was a loud, overwhelming sweet floral….could not get passed this at all..

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me. I get this unpleasant, rubbery smell from it. Clinique Happy does the same thing on me. I’m not too sad about it as I already have about five Diptyque perfumes on my want list!

So far, Ofresia is the only Diptyque fragrance with which I have fallen in love. I was not originally given any notes for this scent, just a blind sample, and it was love at first sniff. On me, the slight pepperiness is a distinct part of the scent, and with any other name, I would never guess at an attempt to reproduce freesia. The overall effect reminds me more of sweet pea than of freesia. Most amazing about this scent of all is that despite its light gentle character it lasts forever on me, and is very noticeable to me! Most things which smell this light are gone relatively soon. I can’t guarantee that will happen to others, but it has been my experience. In addition, this perfume isn’t really like anything else I have, so I could justify “needing” a bottle of it!

Lovely. Utterly flowery, but not in that terrible, overly synthetic way most florals are nowadays. Ofrésia seems natural. It has surprising sillage and depth considering how light it seems at first. Dewy is a really good word to describe Ofrésia. The opening is rather green with lilac-like floral tones.

My signature fragrance at the moment. I am already on my second bottle. The opening is fresh floral with a hint of spiciness; just a small hint, and the freesia scent is just a wee intoxicating without being overbearingly sharp. Then it gradually dries down with the scent of freesia, combined with peppery elements, resulting to an earthy dry down, and this sits well for as long as it lasts. I’ve had quite a few compliments on this one. In short, I love it!

  18. :

This is my signature scent (at the moment, anyway). It’s a polyvalent, light and airy soliflore that evokes innocence, happiness and the joy of taking the time to smell a flower.
It’s a light unapologetic freesia and I hardly ever smell the pepper. on me it lasts about 4-5 hours and the drydown is a pretty reminiscence of the opening (if that makes sense). I absolutely love it.
There is no sweetness to this fragrance, which I appreciate. The simplicity of it takes away from the feeling of wearing perfume. Light sillage and not for those who want to make a strong impression.
Got a lot of compliments that it suited me and never felt like it was overpowering or sickening.
Next time you’re at a Diptyque counter, try it out! It needs more love.

This is an uplifting spring scent. Perfect for a May day. I don’t notice the pepper or woodsy notes; it is all floral on me, but very fresh and not too sweet. I put it on thirteen hours ago and it is still going strong. I love Diptyque.

Not too truly or charming freesia. The real flower smells much more pleasant. Disappointment(

  21. :

    3 out of 5

I smell green stems growing out of wet, cold earth. Freesia petals with dewdrops on them. Freshly cracked pepper and pine planks. A very simple, clear, and linear fragrance. Unfortunately in the drydown this loses a lot of the freesia and green qualities that I absolutely love in the opening. That isn’t to say that it isn’t still absolutely gorgeous-very edgy and modern. I could definitely see a trendy artist wearing Ofresia. Fairly soft sillage, so apply several sprays if you really want to project.

a green fresh floral, with the pepper as a bit of an edge. smells like spring to me, and very diptyque. very long-lasting for en eau de toilette.

  23. :

    5 out of 5

It doesn’t smell like real freesia. It smells more like lily or lily of the valley. I do get some strong pepper in the opening notes, which fades substantially within 10 minutes. Then it is like fresh flowers, a little sweet and rather clean…until the drydown when it smells awful on my skin, like rotten lettuce. It becomes green-vegetal in a really bad way.

  24. :

i am looking for a real fresia smell because i just love it, but there are no true fresia here. The smell is nice but i would rather say it’s green tea with jasmine. I can smell the pepper and some kind of flower but sadly not fresia

Got it as a gift from my boyfriend. He said he thought of me when smelling it. I do like it but it’s too flowery and somewhat stingy. I have a hard time in detecting more than the fresia note. It’s like wearing a Barbie fuchsia pink dress during a funeral. Not a horrible dress (fragrance) at all just not suitable to the occasion (my nose). If I wear it it’s for my boyfriend.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

So lovely, breezy, and soft. The pepper and woodsy notes blend with the freesia so well you can’t detect them individually.
Ofresia makes me feel like I’m relaxing on a hammock amongst hummingbirds and velvety flower petals.
Unfortunately the lasting power is not so great (two hours max), as with most Diptyque scents.

  27. :

To me this is a simple but delightful freesia fragrance, as close to the real thing as I’ve ever smelled. The piquancy of the pepper is less pronounced than I would have thought, but it keeps it from being dull. Rather romantic too I think, and it does feel quite full bodied considering how basic the pyramid is. A must try for freesia lovers and recommended for anyone looking for a quality understated floral.

  28. :

disappointing. I was hoping for a fresh, true freesia. On me, this is oily and rank for about two hours when it becomes a bit sweeter smelling and fades away. It’s me – I can’t do the spicy thing in perfumes.

  29. :

In this perfume, the pepper makes it – brings a well done twist in the fresia dominated fragrance – otherwise it would be to boring and one-dimensional for me.

I tried this perfume on my daughter’s skin and we both were amazed at its opening. The pepper just indulged us with this attractive and vibrant introduction.
However very fast, the smell totally changed the way towards this flowery and flowery fresia note. Then after 5 more minutes, the powerfull smell of fresia changed into a green( grass) notes.
Very fast transition, changing from one note to another one. Amazingly done.

    Oh! Freesia!
When I was in my 20’s a friend of mine died. Suddenly, inexplicably and without warning. It changed everything and all of us. At her funeral her husband asked us to bring freesias, her favourite flower. I’d never really considered the humble freesia before, it’s easy to be drawn to something more showy…the rose, the iris.
When I found out about it I so wanted to try Ofresia because I’ve never smelt a true likeness before. Diptyque are alchemists. They have created freesia in a bottle. There is pepper, but on me it’s mostly flower. The pepper feels like the twitch in your nose you get when you smell a real flower and inhale a bit of pollen. I have to say it’s magic for me.
This one is for Lynn. She would have loved it.

This is the first perfume I ever bought, after spraying it onto paper. Sadly when I got it home I discovered that the fresh freesia scent underlined with pepper that I had loved in the shop, on my skin smelt sharply & horribly of pepper first, and the freesia scent went sour and ‘off’.
I persevered with that bottle for months and several people commented on my ‘nasty old lady’ perfume.
I’ve smelt it on other people and I still love it…on them!
Like the reviewer above, Diptyque scents always smell as if they’ve gone off on me. Oh well.

Diptyque OFRESIA reminds me quite a bit of Leonard LEONARA, probably because of the significant benzoin note, which is a focal point rather than serving more as an anchor or a base. This floriental composition has feminine appeal without being overly flowery, but I think that I prefer the LEONARA. The florals in this composition are not that distinct, but I might be smelling some freesia. OFRESIA also has a light touch of wood and possibly incense as garnishes. I’m quite curious to see how this appears in a side-by-side comparison with LEONARA, so let’s go ahead and try that right now, since I happen to have a bottle ready at hand…
Okay, I’m back and prepared to affirm that, in fact, I prefer LEONARA to OFRESIA. It’s smoother, richer, and more scrumptious. Above all, LEONARA showcases benzoin much more so than OFRESIA, which seems by contrast rather dry. OFRESIA is nice, but LEONARA is better, for what it is. Of course, those who prefer flowers to resins will likely prefer OFRESIA… And that’s just fine with me!

This scent is just sooooooo beautiful!! Simply beauty!
Pure freesia with a hint of sandalwood on me…maybe I can unearth some pale pepper tone but just very hardly detectable.
This is the reflection of the innocent, pure chastity.:)
A sense of fairness and the feeling of untouchability.

fresh and nice. almost a little sweet whit all the Freesia. not very peppery Imo, but just a wiff to make it lighten up. woodsy notes , yes abit . like smelling the tree after you broken off a branche. Nice , and fresh , but not all that interesting. A bit to simple in the notes for my tast. but otherwhise Lovely

A freesia with sweet pepper. Ofresia is how I’d imagine a fairy smelling in a fairy-tale! Floral and zesty, not complex but very unique. So unique that I wouldn’t know at all with what to wear this. Nice to sniff on my arm once in a while though!

Love love love this scent. My absolute favourite fragrance. It’s what hooked me to the House of Diptyque and into perfumery in general.
Freesia is one of those flowers nearly impossible to extract its natural “fragrance” from (many in the distillation process are artificial imitations of what freesia is supposed to smell like) due to the chemical structure of its oils, so the fact that Diptyque’s nailed this ephemeral single-note into a most natural and pure concentration is incredible. Just magic, and beautifully simplistic.

This is extremely lovely floral scent. I don’t get any pepper, but I get fantastic, sweet and romantic freesia followed by some green notes. It’s extremely feminine and enjoyable, but I find it too sweet to add this to my want list. Worth a try though.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

Lucky me! i could get all the notes linearry with time.
Yes, the beginning is very peppery but it calms down in 5-10 mins.
Then I got freesia and something green (I prefer to say green but at instances it reminded me something rotting – like chance25 explained below ‘like the water a bouquet of flowers has been sitting in after a few days’), though this kinda rotting note i could not detect on fabric, only on my skin. So it might only be my skin?
The drydown is the loveliest of all, sweet freesia with some woods.
All in all, could not be my signature but I think I like it and would be nice to have it on my shelf.

Ofresia is really interesting to me. It actually smells like REAL flowers and moss in a forest. Like, violets, maybe, a “place where fairies dance when no one watches” kind of feel. I wouldn’t actually wear it because I don’t really like florals, but I keep a sample of it around to sniff from time to time because the smell is just so true-to-life it’s pretty amazing.

  41. :

No pepper? I am a bit mystified here. To me this is very peppery! I mean vvvvveeeeeerrrrrryyy peppery! Seriously. I like pepper even in abundance. Where other people complain about too much pepper, I often don’t seem to detect any. However, here the pepper bursts out at the very beginning and is tamed only a bit by some unidentifiable flowers for a brief moment (no woods of any kind for me), but from then on it seems to be gaining strength all the time! More than hour later I am still getting very strong whiffs of pepper. I rather enjoy the sharp spiciness, but I wouldn’t be surprised if many people found it way too much. I could see myself wearing it every now and then in winter maybe (if given a bottle, as I do not like it enough to spend money on it) and I can imagine that all the spiciness has warming quality, but I am a bit disappointed with the Freesia, which must either be killed by the copious amounts of pepper or appears to be more like some non descriptive bunch of flowers.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I did not sense any pepper, also.
The pepper must be there, because at first spray there is a fragile, invisible note-the opening moments are thin, clear…it disappears very quickly, and then comes the freesia. The woodsy notes, I did not notice, really. I am so impressed by this scent-that I feel like I “should” write a long, luscious review..the scent is lucious, garden like at moments…but really, itś very simple-itś all wonderful, pure, full, fresh, never sweet or cloying-freesia

I’ve read other reviews that stated an overwhelming pepper smell. I absolutely got zero pepper from this. To me it smells like the water a bouquet of flowers has been sitting in after a few days. I think I can stop sampling Diptyque fragrances now, they all have this weird old dirt smell on me.
