Nuit d`Orchidee Eau de Parfum Miniature
    Purchased on eBay
What did I get myself into when I ordered and received this from eBay? This is unbelievably beautiful. I’ve never had a perfume like this one! I purchased this along with a vintage Dior Poison cologne edition and these two fragrances are cut from the same cloth. These are gorgeous exotic womanly witchy 1980s ‘poison flower’ fragrances. I’m talking as I mentioned before, Dior Poison, but also Lancôme Magie Noire and frags like Paco Rabanne La Nuit, Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion, Chanel Coco Eau De Parfum and Fendi. The mood they put me in! So glad it’s getting close to Halloween when I can wear these rare outdated fragrances. First of all let me start by saying I AM a 1980s woman, that is in the years 1980 through 1989 I was already a young adult 18 and up. So for me these are nostalgic fragrances take me back to a time when even the teenagers wanted to look dress and behave ‘grown up’ in shoulder pad blazer jackets, floral print dresses, and if they had the money for it, expensive haute couture evening gowns the kind Tom Ford is trying to recreate nowadays in fashion.
This has a very complex and epic set of notes. Fragrantica please update this page and list the notes because this is way more than just orchid. It does open with an orchid but it’s so thick and heavily layered with other florals and other exotic plant scents. It IS evocative of a jungle in the Amazon in South America, Brazil, with waterfalls and rare exotic flowers. I once took a trip to Brazil and remember the flower bromeliad. This is not one orchid but many hundreds of orchids all together in a vast landscape at night (i.e. Nuit d’Orchidee means Night of the Orchids in French) all purple and blue orchids and black orchids blooming under moonlight, releasing a smoky, opulent, narcotic scent. This contains white jasmine and honeysuckle. It’s also got galbanum and patchouli, and incense, leather, musk and woods. This is also giving off a kind of powder effect but not as in make-up/cosmetics in a handbag as in some 80s perfumes. It is more green with oak moss and possibly patchouli, more of a chypre.
Mysterious, weird, witchy, like a reviewer in this page mentioned something for Maleficent from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty (1959 version not the abomination that was Angelia Jolie’s version) a woman of magic, mystery, and great power, who can be cruel and enigmatic and casts a spell over all who come near her. This is a Goth fragrance so if you like the Goth culture and want to wear some matching perfumes with your black costumes try this on for size. It’s such a beautiful orchid-incense with animalic leathers and white flowers of narcotic aroma. It’s got a long lasting life and can be pretty strong especially in the initial stage when the alcohol-aldehyde is in your nose. But it settles down into the most beautiful night of giant orchids in a jungle on another planet! For functional purposes this is a seductive perfume to wear with a formal evening gown of satin or velvet in deep dark colors of royal purple midnight blue or black. High fashion totally expensive and very enticing in a glamorous ‘Cleopatra’ way. Matches up with dark eyeshadow and make up, black hair and black nail polish. I will wear this for Halloween parties along with Dior Poison as Morticia Addams who liked man eating plants and who cut the blossoms off roses to keep the thorny stems.

    A perfume in it’s era.
Reminds me the perfumes as Anais Anais by Cacharel and Loulou by Cacharel also.
    I don’t find it “wOw”.
As I like vintages this is not the one that I would need to add in my wardobe because I will not use it…
    Recomended to Cacharel lovers.
    Cheerioz…

Remarkably lovely vintage perfume, doesnt remind me neither Opium, Poison, or others from those years. Quiet original, it has the chypre factor and beautiful ‘orchid’ reminiscences.
Woody, medium sweet and powdery. No soapness. Has a ‘wet’ aspect.

Beautiful. A bit vintage Poison-esque but softer, less incense/smoke, more sensual, floral. Slightly vanillic, mostly dark. Excruciatingly elegant. Very appealing.

What an enchanting and mysterious night blooming orchid. This is sexy, sweet but not cloying, feminine, and ah smells so good. It reminds me of Violet Blonde by Tom Ford and there’s probably more going on than that one orchid note – can you believe that? There’s definitely lots of orchids, probably some additional flowers that are hard to make out, possibly violet, some musk and amber. Beautiful smell. It does not come in a spray and it’s a dab on bottle which is vintage. If you like vintage splash and dab on perfumes this will delight you. The box with the orchid design is lovely. I’m so glad I’ve been discovering some gorgeous fragrances I’d never heard of. This is an evening perfume that smells amazing in warm weather. Smells tropical, summery, floral and no doubt about it a perfume for a grown up woman.

    NIGHT OF THE ORCHID
A beautiful evening perfume I love to alternate with Chopard’s Cascade when I go out on dates. Smells like a moon lit night on a tropical island, if I had to pick an island I would say Tahiti Samoa or even Hawaii. I was immediately hit by orchid gardenia and jasmine. The orchid is not indolic. It’s soft, sweet, feminine and heady, and the gardenia, usually a rather egotistical flower, is bowing to the orchid’s beauty. The jasmine is night blooming jasmine. This is supposed to be an abstract floral fragrance so it’s possible there is a lot more going on here. People have remarked about this scent having a purple color and I agree. I have found that usually a purple colored fragrance contains black currant, cassis and heliotrope. There could be some heliotrope but it would be at the base. I also detected soft sandalwood and amber, myrrh, incense, honey. There could also be some sweet non floral scents of Brazilian rosewood, coconut and bergamot. I am still studying and enjoying this amazing scent. Fragrantica does not list the notes other than orchid but I think it might look something like this:
Top Notes: Aldehydes Bergamot Orchid Cassis Black Currant Heliotrope
Heart Notes: Orchid Gardenia Jasmine Honeysuckle
Base Notes: Brazilian Rosewood Coconut Amber Honey Incense Myrrh Heliotrope
Can’t get enough of this concoction. It feels mysterious and elegant, womanly, tropical, seductive. It feels like a sexy, naked magical island woman is beckoning a sailor to her arms for lovemaking in an orchard or garden with orchids and dark trees under a romantic silver full moon and night sky bejeweled by stars. The woman who wears this is confident, beautiful and wants to appear exotic or mysterious. Not everyone can pull it off but I think any woman can if she’s dressed the part. Feels like a masquerade costume with a mask and feathers. My God I can’t stop smelling myself. Too bad it’s been discontinued. I have a 3.4 ounce bottle but ebay is selling mostly little miniatures. I’m going to buy some miniatures because I want to put more stock with this stuff!

I went looking for a more articulated scent pyramid and found the following: “wild berries, sparkling mandarin and waterlily blend wonderfully with the heart of honeysuckle, gardenia petals and jasmine sambac” in an ad. The base notes aren’t specified, but this gets us a little closer to the composition!
I agree with my fellow Fragranticans, this is definitely a “purple” scent! I find it muskier and less fruity than the original Orchidee, but also spicier.
Personally, I prefer the clarity of the original, the lightly juicy fruit that maintains a realistic head space, and doesn’t tip into sweetness or thickness.
Nuit d’Orchidee is lovely, and worth a try. Musky, spicy, not darker so much as heavier, the sultry sister of Orchidee, meant for evening wear. Soft, powdery, mysterious, it leaves you wondering what will happen next.

When putting this on, I feel like a bumblebee who just can’t get deep enough into the flowers heart.
What’s in this juice? Gettng a little dizzy.
There’s a soapy note that balance the sweetness for me, and makes it irresistable.
Just bought it- and it was love from the first sniff!
Got the regular Orchide’e as well, but that doesn’t move my soul like this one do.
And that’s coming from me, who usually goes for fresch/citrus/light florals!

Gorgeous, soft and gentle flowers, unexpected beautiful find, lasting and elegant, discontinued of course. Doesn’t have synthetic notes common in modern perfume.
It has some opulent body in style of Jill 4 or Poison original, not that strong, but similar, unfortunately it does have a development, flat oriental with touch of sweetness. I had it for a few weeks but parted with it, I have too many frags that are more interesting for me, trying to keep a number under control.

after reading reviews on here, i was really intrigued with this scent and i finally snagged a mini bottle of this on ebay recently.
it’s a sweetish floral scent at first, and a few minutes later, a powderiness comes through to tame the florals a bit, and now this seems more obviously orchid-scented to me than it did at first. there is some tonka in here maybe? and other grounding notes to the orchid, but nothing super heavy. i love floral-orientals and this is one of them. it’s definitely a nighttime scent, and i love the orchid-vanilla combination, it’s not too sweet and the balance with the vanilla and other basenotes is lovely. it has a very slight tropical feel to me, i could see wearing this on a summer evening with a flower in your hair.

Surprised there’s so little info on this.
    Created 1988.
    Now another discontinued lost jewel.
top notes: galbanum, Sugarplum. Something takes your breathe like a taste of blood and sharp cold air in the mouth. Very exciting. Maybe Cade?
heart notes: orchid and spices.A complex weave. There’s clove bud /carnation. Some dark magic going on. This juice could make you very very bad. The sweet creamy vanilla serves to disguise something wicked. Witchery lies beneath.
Base: cedar, oak moss, vanilla, tonka bean, musk…
Night Orchid is a balm dark flourish with resinous depths of the forest at night. This fruity green floral and spicy vanilla, perfectly balanced, is a mysterious and nostalgic scent.
It’s rich deep and creamy with hints of danger and enchantment.
Somehow Poison and others of that ilk never did it for me. Trying too hard.
D’Orchidee for me is what I imagined they should be. Powerful, enticing drawing you in to a dark forest subduing all fear until the roots of the trees ensnare your limbs and entrap but by then, who cares.
When you wake it lingers mocking making you want to lick your own skin but whatever it drove you to do? It was worth it.
Vampire ladies probably wear this stuff.

This is a beautiful floral, lovely, subtle – it really makes me want to keep smelling my wrists (and I usually prefer a more green scent). This is definitely an evening scent (orchids somehow always seem to be). Sillage is just slightly enough to notice in passing but stays very close. Not for everyone, certainly, but if you like a delicate and subtle scent this one is definitely worth trying. Beautiful dark blue bottle too! In fact, it is Saturday evening, I’m wearing some now (refreshed over Orchidee which I wore this morning), and hubby has commented several times how lovely I smell this evening, and he is usually oblivious to all but a few special fragrances……seems he likes this one too!
A thumbs up for this scent, and its daytime sister.

Excellent orchid fragrance. Smells classic elegant and complex. I am not a big fan of floral perfumes, but this one is just great, sillage and longevity are good as well.

This bottle is so right for this perfume , lets start whit that.
I was so shure i was finshed whit Yves Rocher after trying most off there perfumes for years .. been there done that kind off thoughts .. But suddenly i got an urge to try to get this Orchidee bottles again to smell.. Initialy it was all about the memorys this bottles and scents triggerd in me. a longing to smell and relive the past maybe..
so here we are whit this beauty again
This starts off quite strong on the alcohol Then goes into a dark dark orchidee, plum, sweet, and spicy mix. very oriental , very much adult IMO . like a temptres wearing silk velvet or other smooth textured fabrics. this is very sexy .. very warm alluring, whit a slight hint off warm vanilla not to sweet but warm and spicy.
I get an image in my minds eye smelling this. a dark night whit the moon shining ower a calm lake, white waterlilys flouting . its still warm in the air. the smell off warm exotic flowers lingering . a warm gental breeze cools the skin off a sensual lady out to just enjoy freedom and the night itselfs. thinking off here man. Dreamy and sensual is the key word to this for me . It is hard to describe the notes .. To me this is a perfume that makes memorys and pictures come to live again.lovely

I actually like it. It’s a little bit soapy but creamy at the same time, reminds me a lot of smell of Nivea Creme, the original one in the dark blue box. It is a shame that this fragrance is no longer available. And the bottle is lovely.

In my humble opinion, I find Midnite Fantasy similar in it’s composition and even in the shape and colour of the bottle. I worked at Yves Rocher for 4 years and i used to liberally spray this beauty all over me during xmas time… needless to say I’ve sold several bottles of this exotic and sweet plummy fragrance with a vanilla sillage. I do miss it… Perhaps you can find this one online if you contact Yves Rocher .com xxxx

This would be the ‘Demon’ part of the regular ‘Ange’ Orchidee. But as much as I love this one too, the regular ‘Ange’ Orchidee really really stole my heart..
But for a bit variety, this one is really excellent as well!

A fantastic orchid perfume. It’s very similar to the original Orchidee but with a sensual twist to it. It’s deeper and has a hint of a musk to it. Strange but even though all it has listed are orchids these are no ordinary orchids. These orchids lean toward the exotic rainforest or the deepest jungles. They are very deep and heady though not sinus clogging and brain jamming heady that you get from some of the perfumes today. This is one of Yves Rocher’s best scents. It gives a scent of exotic, mysterious, and intriguing sensuality to it. If you want an unforgettable scent for that magical evening and a night to remember this is the perfect scent. If…. you can find it.

I remember Nuit d’Orchidée was a deep and warm perfume. I was very young, my mother had Orchidee and Nuit d’Orchidee.
Both were too attractive for a young girl, so my mother gave me the empty bottles which were very nice too.
In my souvenirs Nuit d’Orchidee was stronger than Orchidee, and it seemed to be “magical” because of the bottle. I would like to find both of them now. Please Yves Rocher : launch these perfumes again !
I’m pretty sure I would still love them.

I was excited to see this listed for sale above, and aghast when I saw the prices!! I love concentrees, and some of my all time favorite YRs are Elixir de Parfums (Ode au Reve and Yria XDP). This smells wonderful, but at that price they can keep it!
If all this has in it is orchid, it is the darkest most magical orchid ever! As many of you know, I love my florals heavy and dark, with some nice aged feel or some swirling incensey notes…this is all that and more! This is floral and darkly rich with a scent that is truly intoxicating. It has an oriental feel without being too woody, resiny or smoky. I almost want to say I detect galbanum or even oakmoss in this. It has the feel of dark silk, and has the most absolutely rich muskiness that is not animalic and goes perfectly with my skin. My mother asked me what cologne I had on one day, when I said “Nuit d’Orchidee by Yves Rocher” she did NOT believe me! There is something in this wonderous fragrance that just comes alive on my skin, it has that vintage feel (styrax, maybe…or aged woods) and is so dark it almost smells like a scent Malificent (the dark fairy from Sleeping Beauty) would wear. Strong, beautiful and severe, but given to rich and grand things and mysterious…very mysterious!
    Sillage: great
    Longevity: excellent
    Overall: 5/5 A magical treasure!
This has everything I ever wanted in a perfume and more. This is just what the perfume-doctor ordered and I WILL have a FB of this, or else a nice decant. Of all the fragrances (vintage or otherwise) I have smelled from this House, THIS is by far my favorite!! This has the richness and elegance of Yria Elixir, and the woodiness and dreaminess of Ode au Reve and so very much more…as it is vintage, stronger and absolutely more complex and divinely gothic and arcane…like the reflection of an orchid in a dark looking glass.

I completely agree with rithacha – this is one of the nicest YR classics. Simple (maybe too simple for some who like many notes in one concoction), clean orchid that smells almost innocent but, oh wait, there is something frisky in there! As if it was meant for others to keep on guessing “naughty or nice?”. A fall/winter scent, “sensual” so I’d probably not wear it to the office but more likely for evenings and going out. Not very long lasting, which is a pity.

Thank you Action for this delightful fragrance.
I agree that this is perfect for special moments; it’s rich, dark and deep but never rises above the skin (at least on me).
So it can only be smelt by someone who is really close. Give him a nice treat as he gently nibbles your ear and caresses your neck.
I’m saving this wonder in a bottle for when i get married; i’m sure he will love it. wink.

Nuit d’Orchidee is a cuddly comfort floriental made for home seduction a late saturday evening when the children finally are put to sleep. I see her carefully closing the childrens doors, passing the vanity just to take a couple of drops for her pulsepoints. And then one for the cleavage, before she goes back to the living room where her hubbie is half asleep on the couch.
Nuit’d Orchidee slightly reminds me of old Cacharels but is not as edgy (or nasty some might say). Think Lou Lou without the bitter anis and a bit lighter on the powder…
I wish I had the notes. There is a mote of acridness in the scent which makes me believe that there is cedar in this dark blue bottle. And some sandalwood for the silky powdery warmth.
The topnotes are quite alcoholic as mentioned before, but it soon settles down to this beautiful dark flowery orchid scent that has an airy quality from micro powdery wood. It is really very nice, but perhaps a bit linear for my taste. I’m not very familiar with YR frags but this one is really well crafted.

Well, Yves Rocher vintages are quite pricey on Ebay. So if you won a big bottle and you do want to earn money, you can always put it on ebay.

    Hi Dark Curls,
You are sooo right! The Yves Rocher vintages are highly complex compositions, and therefor have a lot more notes than registrered here. But maybe Yves Rocher limits the information here for outsiders to publish. Make no mistake, YR vintages are masterpieces!
    Good luck!

Oh I love this stuff. It’s just . . . perfect for winter. Not too sweet, not too spicy, not too sour, not too creamy, not too sticky, not too dry . . . I feel like Goldilocks with my perfect pot of porridge with this. Never letting go! It’s everything I imagined perfume should be.
First, the bottle is just as gorgeous in real life. Dark glossy glass, subtle sparkle in the stopper, mysterious-looking splash bottle. It has a lovely, smooth weight to it in my hand. To me, holding the bottle, popping the stopper – all of it is part of the experience.
The scent itself first goes on sharp and alcoholic like a whiplash. Like leukothea said below, this opening is fleeting. By the time the juice evaporates off your skin, the strong alcohol is gone. What’s left is orchid. Smelling it is like touching the soft plush petals. It’s sensuous and gentle, but a little mysterious. This orchid isn’t completely open; it’s a little bit closed, as if keeping a magic secret to itself, and this has me pushing my nose closer and closer to my wrist. For this fragrance, I imagine a tall long-haired woman with a dark dress. Sensuous and mysterious.
    Definitely a true orchid scent.
    Long-lasting, medium sillage.
If you’re looking for a winter night scent that doesn’t make you want to sneeze with spices, brush your teeth from syrupy sugar, or take migraine medication, give this a try.

I adore this fragrance, which is described as “Fruity Green Floral Vanillic Spicy.” It is the “night-time” version of Orchidee and has a lovely, bright spiciness added to the soft sweetness of regular Orchidee that I find most alluring. On me, this scents lasts quite some time, so I guess the lasting power must have something to do with body chemistry. It is discontinued, but VERY rarely one can find it on eBay.

Thank you Sandrina for putting it in the base :*
I stil think im a noob at distinguishing ingredients but i will comment this rare lovelyness :))
The perfume is clearly floral, seems strong at first, but thats only an impression! Dont let it fool you because it settles down fast. Is a soft orchid, pleasant, sensual and really extraordinary. Orchid lovers will like it very much! Its not typical and i dont recall ever sensing this kind of composition. If purple-blue colour would have a scent, this would be it.. I have to mention that it reminds me a lot of those old little soaps in their fancy packaging.. lovely. Only thing i dont like about it is that it isnt very long lasting, it lasts up to an hour and then gradually fades away, tho the concentration say Eau de Toilette Concentrée. Since its winter here now, i noticed that winter suits it well, i still dont know if it would act the some on some different temp. If you ever have the chance to buy it, take it and dont let it go! Rare fragrance! even if you dont like it, the bottle is adorable 🙂
