Versetti96 – :
“The world is still the same. There’s just less in it”
This sentence was told by (Captain) Jack Sparrow in the third film of the famous Disney saga “Pirates of the Caribbean”. I mentioned it as it also applies to the world of perfumes. Nowadays creative ideas shrink because almost everything we hear in the perfumeries or is chemical or is the copy of other fragrances. I was looking for a fragrance that could remind me of the world of pirates, a fragrance that made me go back to 1600.Not I was content with a simple creation, so I went in search of particular notes of the time. BOOM! Notturno by Meo Fusciuni is the answer. One evening I sat, in front of me: The port at sunset.Ships, albeit modern, berthed.Thinking about the past, on how the ports could be in 1600 and here I am on a ship in the service of a notorious pirate: brown eyes, yellow teeth, gunpowder patches in the face and arms. However, behind that ruthless look, there is a man hiding a woman (secretly) on his shoulders. It is night: while I clean the deck of the ship my eyes fix what is inside the captain’s room or the captain himself, seated, with tears in his eyes. Warm up his hands with a candle, Goose quill in his hand, just immersed in black ink as his heart. The light rests on the yellow parchment, eroded by time, poor. Next to the sheet, the inevitable bottle of Rum, from which, the captain, drinks intensely, as if to wipe away the pain he feels for his secret love. The pain is immense, can not cancel the tears. For this reason he removes a strange leather container from his pocket, who knows who stole it. He extracts a handkerchief, cleans his tears and goes back to writing. The candle, in the meantime, is consumed thus generating smoke. Only now I realize that that smoke reminds me of incense and I think the captain has had to do with the spiritual world. He looks up and … no! he discovered me! He starts shouting! overturn his birch chair. I just have to run! I’m here again … The port is almost invisible. The sunset is gone, the light of the night invades and pervades everything. All this is NOTTURNO.

Boozy inky mysterious fragrance. Performance is moderate. Lasts longer than it does radiate. Has a heavenly drydown with the opening being a bit rough with glue like inky note. Wait for the drydown and prepare to be swooned!

All his perfumes smell like old fashioned soap bar from corner shop or chemists Cheap soap bar even ( not soap bar from luxury hotel) All I can smell is patchuli, lavender and some dry pout – puri. I mean… – all of his perfumes… Im trying hard understand concept and ” artism” in his creations, unfortunately, I don’t see it. As mutch I think Italian perfumery Is best,( Santa Maria Novella, Lorenzo Viloressi) this one is disappointing. And price… Makes me laugh . Many his perfumes in pyramide mention incense (Notturno, Oblio). Im asking : where is incense?

This is lousy. The perfumer is using the notorious rum ether — a distinctive, immediately recognizable raw material that’s rich and boozy but dissipates in (I’m not kidding) 30 seconds. For as lovely as that material smells, it’s worthless in perfume and is clearly intended for use in flavoring. Anyhow, once Notturno’s rum has burned off, you’re left with a ghastly charred caramel that’s slammed against something licorice-like to produce “ink.” It is inky (think glossy magazine smell), but it’s the olfactory equivalent of a thousand paper cuts.

The most overrated place to be per square feet is within sniffing distance of Notturno. I’m sitting here trying to figure out what’s more frustrating: Wearing this or training a new puppy. This fragrance has one of the most intriguing note/accord lineups you can find in niche perfumery. Too bad the act doesn’t match the venue(see Dallas Cowboys). What is Notturno? Is it a Bic ink pen with rum disguised as a fragrance? Not necessarily. There’s no need for a note breakdown or an educated nose to highlight this process. This is a dead ringer for sweet loose leaf paper; that’s it and that’s all. This has the ABSOLUTE worst projection/sillage that I’ve ever experienced. Potential definitely down the drain. The entire house seems to purposely make their fragrances with low sillage and projection. They also seem to purposely charge egregious prices as well. A fragrance for people that are not fond of fragrances.

I really wanted to love Notturno. Ink, rum, incense, leather, birch, incense? Sounds fantastic!
But alas, it didn’t live up to my (admittedly too-high) expectations. The ink is very prominent. The rum is also heavily detectable and adds a dark, slightly spicy sweetness that is unique. The opening has some slight flashes of leather and there is some soft smokiness going on beneath all the gloopy ink/rum that I would probably attest to the birch or incense. Its strikingly unique for about the first 10 minutes before receding into rough waters. Past the 10 minute mark it kind of smells as if some “struggling artist”-type had too many shots of captain morgan and decided to drink some computer toner in a botched suicide attempt..following a heavy bout of vomiting, he passed out…alas he awoke the next morning in a puddle of rum, ink and softly acidic stomach bile. Ok, ok…the mild acidity is a bit of a turn off but its definitely not as bad as I just made it sound.
If Notturno took a few different turns in it’s life, it would have really appealed to me. Maybe if it veered into darker, more interesting territory in the drydown instead of thinning out and getting tangy. Performance is underwhelming and the bottle (is that times new roman?…) looks veerryy cheap. I see the appeal here but im not too impressed. 5.5/10

Muschio e betulla.
Profumo interessante, molto maschile.

“Notturno” is one of the most unique perfumes I’ve tried in a while. The ink/rum combo makes this so dark, gothic and almost scary, that it’s hard to resist. The quality of the scent is remarkable and even though it’s almost borderline repulsive I wasn’t able to keep my nose off my wrist.
The heart introduces incense and musk, the incense adds even more of the dark gothic feeling, but musk adds a balancing and creepy sweetness to the whole composition. The drydown is musky with faint reminders of “Notturno” darker self.
I found “Notturno” to be on the more masculine side, I don’t really see a female wearing this. Silage was mediocre and unlike for others longevity for me was decant – some 6 hours.
Not the most wearable scent, but worth to hunt down a sample just for the olfactory experience.

Very gloomy, extremely warm, dirty sweetish (Rum and spices), inked.
Impossible thinking to wear it in the day. This is a parfume for a quiet wander into the night afar by noise. A parfume almost by meditation. Personally, I consider “Luce” a perfume exclusively for woman, I can’t imagine “Notturno” on a… maiden. If you are inclined at the idea to be a “thoughtful wanderer”, probably you’ll love it.
The bottle is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

wow… the first thing came on my mind when i smelled this masterpiece.
a night time at the attic in year 1600+, writing poems on a wooden chair & table, with a semi-white costumed papers, an ink pot, a feather & a lighted candle on aside, then the ink splattered upon those semi-white papers once the cooling breeze broke into the attic’s window carrying the smell of the dark rhymed blueberries from the public garden. that scene was in that bottle.
This perfume is the atmosphere of Siouxsie & the Banshees face to face song.
i can’t believe how perfect this smell is, perfectly blended, and amazingly packaged. maybe because this is what i was searching for. although it doesn’t last long, but it is the love i’ve been searching for my whole life.

I have more than 150 niche fragrances, but Notturno is the only one that I always take with me in all my world travels, It’s not only because the fragrance (mysterious and gorgeous), but also because Meo Fusciuni has created for his first edition of Notturno the most beautiful and most personalized bottle of all niche fragrances that I own. The second edition, unfortunately’s got the really pharmacy bottle. What could I say about… I’m sorry for Meo.

IT.
EN. That what initialy looked like a Japanese name, was an Italian one (the real name of designer is Giuseppe Imprezzabile). Scent that leaves you puzzled by an initial hint of rum and then stays with you for a strong woody fragrance.

This perfume smells on ink, but not oily think ink, but spicy one with a tart note inside.
