Noble Potion The Merchant of Venice for women and men of The Merchant of Venice

Description

Describing Mediterranean beauty through olfactory sensations led me to seek the most tactile essences. Noble Potion embodies the smooth sensuality of the finest sandalwood and cedarwood of Lebanon, and merges them with the citrus freshness of bergamot and orange blossoms. Its intensity is softened by the velvety notes of violet,
making the wearer both attractive and mysterious.
A true, feminine aphrodisiac.

Noble Potion by The Merchant of Venice is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women and men. Noble Potion was launched in 2013. The fragrance features violet, sicilian mandarin, orange blossom, sandalwood, cedar and musk.

This is a cedar musc and violet bomb, tiptoeing on the shadow of Feminite du Bois and other sister fragrances.
At first spray it smells amazing, even a bit resinous, but the effect lasts a very short time and the drydown smells rather simplistic, unfortunately.

My son purchased this perfume in the Merchant of Venice store in Venice. Every note listed in the design of the perfume technically I would love: Violet, Sicilian Bergamot, Orange Flower, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, and Musk Absolute. However, I am not fond of powdery perfumes and Noble Potion has one of the strongest and lasting “powdery” accords I have tried. The powdery accord overpowers some of my favorite notes. I really wanted to like this perfume. If you like a powdery fragrance, it does last a long time and you may love this one.

Very good and inviting bergamot and musk accord. I like it.

I got a sample of this wonderful woody violet fragrance in the flagship store in Venice. Besides violet and violet leaves , I feel something slightly fruity. Which I do not identify as orange . It’s more like dried fruit. The dry down is more spicy, and personally I would say I can feel a ginger note, which is not listed here. Noble Potion reminds me of Bois de Violette by Serge Lutens . This is one of my favorites from The Merchant of Venice.

I like this, don’t love it.
I found a corner that carries The Merchant of Venice products and I was so curious! They are produced by Mavive, which is a well known perfume makers close in Venice and often make low price perfumes for large distribution.
The SA was a nice guy who was amused by my passion for perfumes so I could chat with him for a while.
I tried many single EdT and then I wanted to try this Noble Potion as I was attracted by notes, especially orange blossom and sandalwood.
This is intense and woody. Cedarwood is very noticeable.
I like it for its oriental vibe. It’s very longlasting on my skin. However… I was not totally hooked because the evolution of NP brought me back to nowadays reality: poor raw material due to scarse availability. Noble Potion was well made, but it falls into the modern woody category more or less like CK Euphoria in the drydown. It’s intense but not amplified, it becomes sweetish and harsh woody like so many modern ones. Anyway it’s interesting and a good scent.
The bottle is better than the picture and looks original.
Edit: it growns on me! The more I wear it the more I think it smells similar to Shiseido/SL Feminitè du Bois

Discovered this in Merchant of Venice store in Venice – elegant, mature, discreet ,still very present, CONFIDENT; makes me feel complete; quite lasting -8-10 hrs; of all the components musk and cedar are staying ; so annoying it’s not available in USA; at least, they just made it available on line . Simply fabulous !
