I got my hands on this beauty recently and am entranced. I have been applying it on my cheeks just in front of my ears so that every time I turn my head I get a strong whiff of it. This morning I suddenly realized that it a has facet similar to Detchema, a favorite that I wore in the 1960s and the reason, I now know, that I like No.2 Oeillet so much.
By checking through the Fragrantica descriptions, it became apparent that the mystery note is carnation. Some of the perfumes I have enjoyed the most over my lifetime have been carnation types, including L’Air du Temps and Fleurs de Rocaille, original formulation, the only one for which I have consistently received compliments. But not Bellodgia, which seems to be a different kind of carnation.
I have the Prada Infusion Oeillet EDP but it doesn’t have the same carnation spark, although it lasts a long time and grows increasingly lovely.
Also, I don’t know how the current Detchema smells. Nothing stays the same.

This is one of the most breathtaking fragrances I have ever smelled. A friend sent me a sample because I have trouble picking out the carnation note, even though it’s in many fragrances I own, and he said this is the best example. I had no expectations of this fragrance being so spectacular. I located a bottle within an hour of trying it and I have only done that with a handful of fragrances. Now, I know what the carnation note is and I have now discovered it is the reason I love Miller Harris Fleur Oriental so much. No 2 is like a more pure version of the carnation I love in Fleur Oriental. They are very different fragrances but the carnation is obviously very similar. I can’t stop sniffing myself and feel like I may have found a holy grail by accident, by simply wanting to be able to recognize the carnation note. I have too many favorites to ever choose a holy grail, but No 2 ranks right up there with the best of the best. It’s so beautiful. The opening had me almost speechless.

The review below is great and I can only add just how well blended this is even though the notes are able to be dissected. Nice spicy floral neither too feminine nor masculine. The whole line is well blended.

I decided I really wanted this for my birthday. The scent is really really natural, very nice. Puts me in mind of Bellodgia, though its not sweet at all.
On me I get carnation, clove (its way tamped down), and an amazing buttery and slightly dirty iris. After a while it shifts and the clove and rose come into play. there is a slight powder to this, but its amazingly pleasant and does not ruin the composition at all. My partner says it smells distinct, like Lagerfeld Classic type powderiness.
Everything smells so natural though, no one note is too overpowering. I’d be interested to know the type of musk used here because it smells great. Likely its synthetic but thankfully its not so harsh that it would tear my nose to pieces.
Longevity is high, sillage is moderate to soft… it wears close to the skin after 4 hours but its totally still there. I don’t find it to be too linear at all. It changes quite a bit through the drydown.
This one changes much more on me than No4, which I like but is quite linear on me. From my understanding the exclusives were made to be worn with each other. I haven’t tried that yet. I can see this being worn 3 months of the year, it may be a bit much for summer.
Worth testing out if you can, especially for those who enjoy carnation. Pricewise, its a bit expensive but its also an extrait and a darn good one.
    Absolutely unisex.
