Description

The new fragrance by Nicole Richie is named No Rules and it evokes the style of the late 60’s of the 20th century. “I try not to go by any rules, especially when I’m talking about mixing prints, because I’m so inspired by the ’60s and ’70s—and their rule was that there were no rules,” explained Richie. This is her second perfume in a row, the first one being Nicole that was introduced in September 2012.

The fragrance is announced as addictive, exotic and bohemian. It opens with sunny Mediterranean orange blossom, elderberry, sweet Turkish almond blossom and fresh kumquat. Its exotic heart includes flowers of frangipani from Bali, purple jasmine and Brazilian coconut water. Sandalwood, vanilla from Madagascar and crystalline musk wrap the perfume’s base.

The perfume comes in an art-deco bottle with glass colored in purple and psychedelic prints on the box. It is available as Eau de Toilette. No Rules was launched in 2014.

Got this 7.99 in a gift set the perfume didn’t have a cap none of them did the lotion has no scent but it is a good quality lotion it’s smooth like silk. The fragrance is nice it’s very sweet but very light. Idk if I’ll keep it because I just bought Jessica mcclintock #3 and I like that one more I’ve been wearing it daily IDK but if the no rules lasts long I’ll keep but otherwise I’ll return it and get something more lasting.

This perfume smells almost identical to Britney Spears’ Midnight Fantasy (in the dark purple bottle). More watered down, but very similar notes! Wouldn’t really say its wonderful at all…but only cost me $9 CAD for 100ml. Definitely smell test first, the opening spray is chemical laden and strong. Dry down is ok, but nothing wonderful.

I’m not gonna lie. I only bought this because it was $4 for a 3.4oz bottle on eBay. I was expecting a Victoria’s Secret sugar and fruit concoction. I figured if it was sickly sweet candy water I’d just give it to one of the pre-teens in the neighborhood.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised. For $4 this is not bad at all. This suits the younger gals, but it’s not a “teenager” scent.
It’s a sweet ‘n’ sour berry-citrus-vanilla with some flowers and sandalwood. Dries down to a sweet sandalwood-musk. It’s sweet but not as sweet as I had anticipated.
The bottle reminds me of Tatiana but with heavier glass and an odd lid.
This will suit young or young at heart ladies on a budget who like a little sweetness now and then. I can see this being appropriate for school, running errands, lunch with girlfriends and so on.
Not at all bad for the $4 price tag!

My first bottle broke in half, the sprayer
And glass neck cracked in half.
TJ Maxx had a bottle last night. Perfectly
    Sealed , $5.99, inside .. no cap!!!
It was not sprayed previously .. just no cap.
    Hmmm

I like no rules! It reminds me of several perfumes. The opening teases you with a fresh sour sweet berry citrusy like in Anna Sui Forbidden Affair. However like another reviewer said that “quickly dissipates.” The middle notes ease right in and remind me of the berries in Katy Perry Killer Queen Oh So Sheer. However No Rules is more toned down lighter and balanced. I also noticed a peppery powdery floral moment from Kim Kardashian Gold but that comes and goes quickly. It’s candied but not too sweet. Imagine if Bodycology made a bath product called black raspberry and sandalwood . It’s candied and fairy like yet light and earthy at the same time. The bottle is awesome

I’ve been really giving the celebrity offerings a chance lately and so far I haven’t had many regrets. No Rules is very nice. As others have said, it doesn’t last long or have great silage, but the scent itself is really lovely and with the low price for a huge bottle it can be generously sprayed and resprayed throughout the day. It reminds me of a cross between Jessica Simpson Fancy Girl and Lancôme La Vie Est Belle upon first spritz onto skin. But it does dry down into its own, scent that is different enough to justify owning it even if you own the others already.
Dare I say we have entered into a day in age where celebrity scents don’t carry the same stigma of being cheap smelling, awful olfactory offerings that they once carried? Well, I’m saying it. I’m a reformed perfume snob enjoying my celebrity scents right alongside my designer ones. And Richies No Rules is definitely a solid like. It’s the type of scent I’d wear hanging at home with the family or out with them on a casual “fun day.” It’s not a serious or sophisticated fragrance, but I’m not always looking for that anyway.

Delightful!!! Lovely perfume, gorgeous bottle and beautiful colours – of the bottle and box. Perfection!!!
And I love the perfume! It’s a gorgeous sweet concoction of fruit, flowers (especially the frangipani and jasmine), almond, vanilla, sandalwood and coconut, and a beautiful warm musk. Delicious! A delicious sweet and sour, fresh and smooth, creamy combination, and a delightful blend! Really beautiful! Very exotic.
I love wearing it when I go out anywhere, as I am always being complimented on my lovely fragrance, and also because I find it a very comforting, sensual and elegant perfume. I feel very loved and feminine in it. And it lasts quite a long time on me – about 8 hours, before I have to (and love to!) re-apply. I love the smells of it from beginning to end. It is very special, I think. And I also love wearing it to bed. It has such a calming and soothing effect on me. I lie in bed breathing in the gorgeous smell, which is still there when I wake in the morning. Mmmm…..and my husband also loves it and finds it most soothing to sleep in…..
    It’s so lovely!!! Really!!!

My only complaint is that I bought this at Marshalls, thinking it was new but when I opened it, there was no cap on the bottle. The scent is nice, except for a peppery note that sort of stings the back of my throat. I have to give this a fair chance when I’m less pissed about the no cap thing.

On my skin, this is a gentle, silky sandalwood and powdery musk. Sure, there is sweet fruit at the very top… But, that dissipates quickly, leaving only mellow musky sandalwood and subtle white florals behind. This scent is nicely done. It says “bohemian”, to me… this would best compliment a pair of distressed jeans and tousled hair. (It actually does well misted into said touseled hair!) No Rules is sexy, in an effortless way. I am a fan!

So I finally got my hands on Nicole’s fragrances. I am totally in love with No Rules. The box is stunningly perfect. The Purple & Lilac with the hippie pattern on it is so chic and cute. The bottle is a very unusual shape. It’s also a nice thick heavy bottle. The cap is the same as on the first perfume from Nicole. The smell of this is amazing !! The opening is very light fruity fresh. When it starts to dry down and blend with the middle you get a lovely floral coconut mix & then once the bases notes mix through it is a very nice light woody vanilla musk on your skin. This lasts about 6-7 hours on my skin. I freaking love this perfume so much !! The whole fragrance is very well designed. From the box & the bottle to the smell and the colours. Keep the fragrances coming Nicole. This gets a 9.5/10 from me xo

This smells amazing! My only problem is that is does not last long at all! It’s also a stark contrast to her other perfume;it’s more playful, sweet and fun. I got it at Marshall’s for 7 bucks and I really like it!

This is sweet candied berries laced with a sprinkle of coconut and a squeeze of citrus, all of which fade in and out until the fragrance finally rests on a bed of soft pink musk stick lollies.
No Rules is a lesson for me about being taken in by advertising. After deciding not to be negatively influenced by celebs, I bought into the ‘exotic’, ‘bohemian’ blurb and well travelled notes. But nuh. No Rules is play-by-the-rules candy.
Btw I agree with everyone who has said the cap’s wrong. It’s out of proportion with the bottle. The bottle is a lovely faceted yet minimalist vessel, which doesn’t work with the scent either.

This was the only one I didn’t return, out of the three bottles I bought yesterday.. and I almost never bother returning them once I’ve opened them but OMG two of the three were beyond hideous (in spite of wonderful reviews on here.. grrr) but I digress..
This is not unique in the slightest, but it is decent and wearable. As someone said before me, nothing really stands out. It smells sweet but not sickening or sour. This is more of a warm comforting sweet, that won’t assault your nose.
The bottle.. omg that poor ugly cap.. ha..
I had a fine time amusing myself by trying different caps on this. The square top purple cap from Paris Hilton Tease looked very nice on it, the rest were just silly..

No Rules is prettier than I thought it would be. It’s deep purple liquid sloshing in a big clear bottle. Sweet all the way. I’m always on the lookout for almond that works in a fragrance. I don’t get too much of that in No Rules.
The notes make it sound much more lush than it really is with all that crystalline musk and frangipani from Bali stuff. I get zero coconut or coconut water. But what I do detect here is nice. Definitely vanilla and fruit, a little sandalwood or something like sandalwood.
On the lighter side. Doesn’t last too long. Better than expected.

This is interesting….first spray was unpleasant to my nose. Chemically, sharp, and almost medicinal. I waited in hopes it would change. It did. Now I have a sweet, very soft, candy-like scent. Not as sweet as Pink Sugar or Fantasy, but along the same lines. Silage is minimal. Is a little more than a skin scent on me and my skin does not drink perfume-people can usually smell me from several feet away…lol. This is a nice, pleasant, safe perfume. I paid 7.99 at TJ Maxx for it which I think is quite a bargain. Am happy with this!

I enjoyed Nicole Richie’s first offering into the perfume world simply called “Nicole” so much that I didn’t hesitate purchasing her second. The price I paid was very low so frankly, I wasn’t out that much. (Thanks to TJMaxx, a local discounter in the USA).
No Rules smells delicious too, the flacon is pretty, altho not as pretty as the first, it’s actually quite a simple bottle and strikingly similar to the first with the identical bottle cap. The box, I dare say, is prettier than the bottle. However, the juice inside just doesn’t last long at all. Maybe two hours and that’s a stretch using body lotion to make sure your skin is well nourished. It’s a great perfume to take to sleep and scent your linens.
This is a sweet, candied, sunny perfume. Orange blossom and kumquat top it off with a sparkling, effervescent beginning. Frangipani brings in a flowery essence and its’ drydown is a skin musk with a mild vanilla.
No Rules is a fantasy-like perfume, likened to fairies and their playfulness in the woods, campfires and forests, dark colder nights when the wind stings your face and turns your cheeks red. It’s earthy and whimsical really, not a perfume to be taken seriously. It’s great for bed-time when you want to relax and scent your linens to de-stress.

There are elements from one of my favourite fragrances, Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire, in No Rules – almond, what I think may be a faint whisper of tart cherry, and soft orange blossom. Nicole’s self-named debut perfume is another perfume No Rule brings to mind with notes of orange, berries, sweetened and spiced patchouli, and a bit of musk appearing in both perfumes.
I have developed a bit of a thing for magnolia lately, so I’m pleased that I get an impression of it in here. Plus coconut is another scent I have a soft spot for, so that is another plus in No Rules favor.
All in all this is a very nice effort, and is easy to wear. Considering that this is a celebrity endorsed fruity floral, No Rules comes of as more adult, not candyish, and dare I say it? Quite sophisticated.

I like the pineapple-orange-vanilla and I love the pretty dried roses notes. But I don’t love the musk in here and there’s a tad too much of it present to allow me to love this perfume.

I tested this several times and to me it is a disaster. I don’t like it. It smells like the original to begin with then when it dries and settles, it has a cheap toilet spray, synthetic fruit note to it I just don’t like how it settles. Of course, it could be my skin and probably is as some people like it.
the bottle is nice enough with the purple colour but the spray is gold and doesn’t match and the lid just looks like the lid from the original has been shoved on there. I actually thought in the store that a customer had put the lid from the original on the bottle by mistake and then I realised it was supposed to be there. Just wrong on so many fronts!
As usual I will try it again as I always try perfumes many times to give them a fair chance but for now it is a firm NO.

I bought this at Marshalls for like $12 USD. I really do enjoy this- it actually reminds me of Pitbull’s new women’s perfume. I think the notes may be similar. But, unfortunately both of these do not last as long as I would like:(

I’m glad I found this on sale, it is very weak. It reminds me of Estee Lauder Sensuous, although it’s been a long time since I smelled it. It also brings to mind prunes or plums and fresh tobacco along with the citrus.
Update: When I inhale this deeply, I smell a spice that is EXACTLY like the spice that is used in IKEA’s meatballs. Crazy, but true! If you like The One Desire, you may like this.

At first spray, very sweet, not in a bad way, not really candy sweet, more like a soft floral powdery sweet scent, very feminine, not unique, I detect a bit of Beyonce Heat in it, although No Rules is softer, and overall better quality. God forbid I got a 100 ml!!! I like it, but it isnt real complex, and sweeter than I thought it would be..Nonentheless, easy to wear, and it smells real nice..
With some perfumes you detect notes, the finesse of the scent, No Rules is like a warm sweet cloud of sugary notes..I get a mix of vanilla and almond on a bed of sweet musk…nothing new, but overall warm, and cozy. I can see it working nice on winter days.

    So,
This fragrance is extremely beautiful and very youthful
The box with its tie-dye design adds to the theme of carefree.
The bottle is elegant but not as impressive as Nicoles first fragrance.
The scent is spectacular. On me it didn’t really evolve much but it did change throughout. At first spray I got a blast of berries and towards the middle I gota touch of jasmine. at this point it smelt similar to many fragrances I’ve smelt. Then it hit me. It smelled soapy like Jlos glow after dark but also floral like euphoria and Nicole which also smell similar. And at the base I got mostly musk which once again felt familiar, which I realized that the base was reminded of madonnas truth or dare. Overall this scent is very enjoyable and versatile. Not to groundbreaking but is greatly appreciated when I use it.
    Box-10/10
    Bottle-7/10

    FIRST THOUGHT:: WOWW!!
I JUST recieved this fragrance in the mail earlier today. And while I love the fragrance, I do have to say first off, that I do agree with the person/review below me. I CANNOT smell distinctly or pick out any of the notes individually. Do you know how it is you guys…when you buy a fragrance, and you cant smell ANY specific note or oil in the fragrance…they all just come together to make the final product and smell that is in the bottle? Thats what happens here. I cant smell anything specific…just the final fragrance that it ended up being.
Now that being said…I LOVE it! It’s VERY unique…very summery…very sweet, but yes..as other reviewers have said, very tropical and sweet. It smells great! I do have to admit…that I like her first fragrance better, as I have over 130 fragrances, and her first fragrance (even tho it has weak lasting power), is literally in my top 5 favorites. This fragrance, I still clicked “love” on, but it isnt quite as high up as her first. And although this fragrance smells amazing, it isnt quite as mature and “sophisticated” as her debut fragrance. Its more playful and youthful for sure.
It is a very well balanced mixture of sweet, tropical, and the woody backround is certainly present! I love it!
    Fragrance itself : 9/10
    Longevity : Unfortunately… 5/10
    Sillage : Surprisingly decent…8/10
Short short story…as I said this arrived in the mail just today and when I went to leave my house today, my 27 year old brother stopped me and said, “Omg mike what r u wearing?!” And I told him that it was Nicole Richie’s second, and brand new fragrance, and his exact words were, “Omg, that is the best fragrance out of all!! Out of all the ones you own that ive smelled on you.”
So that gave me a good idea that it would recieve critical acclaim from people. And as I am writing this, I’m at a friends house with 5 friends, and all 5 of them were saying how much they love it as well.
So my advice is…GO BUY THIS GUYS!!! Smells amazing!!!!
I saw it on Amazon for $80, however, I got lucky and found it for only $30 on Ebay, which is a steal considering how new it is. So I would advise all of you to pop some money in your paypal account, and check out ebay before you look on Amazon for this.
SMELLS GREAT!! GOOD JOB NICOLE!!! YOU’RE 2 FOR 2 WITH YOUR FRAGRANCES ON MY LIST! BOTH SMELL AMAZING!! MAJOR PROPS TO YOU!!

A sugary sweet concoction.no distinction of individual notes. I liked her first scent better. Almost comparable to Pink Sugar.

If you like Rihanna’s Reb’l Fleur, or Nicole Richie’s first perfume, Nicole, then you’ll like this one. The notes are very similar to Rihanna’s Reb’l Fleur and Nicole’s first perfume- same theme and vibe. The violet and coconut water in No Rules is what reminds me of Rihanna’s Reb’l Fleur- except this seems sweeter (as in more sugary) compared to Reb’l Fleur.
Unfortunately, like her first perfume, Nicole, No Rules is not long lasting at all, and it tends to linger close to your skin the entire time (it doesn’t project well at all, and it leaves behind a very pretty musky, vanilla dry down). I would say it lasts only 20 minutes on me- just like Nicole, her first perfume with the same kind of lingering dry down.
I would say it’s a very playful, daytime scent. On the other hand, you can pull it off as an evening, going out kind of scent (but I would say this is more of a casual daytime scent, unlike her first perfume, Nicole, which was more of a sophisticated, evening kind of scent).
I would definitely invest in buying No Rules again. I would like to try the lotion and shower gel (if there ‘s a gift set). I really like her idea of the ’60s and ’70s psychedelic theme on the box and bottle shape.

On me, this becomes a skin scent fairly quickly and longeveity is only moderate from what I could tell. I’m ok with that though. It has a slight exotic touch due to the soft coconut but it is mostly a soft fruity floral. On my skin, it reminds me a little of scented body oil that’s a little musky. It would actually be quite nice for summer and can’t wait to try it out in warmer weather (I’m hoping it may blossom a bit more in the warmth). I love the thick glass bottle but the cap is just ugly. There’s not much risk in blind buying this because you can find it so cheap. I’m happy with it.

I just picked a gift set up of this fragrance at Shoppers drug mart, it was on for 19.99. I am very picky with my fragrances, but this one is pretty decent. It’s got a nice opening fruity twist, and still after some time i can still smell the fruitiness mixed in with those base notes. The liquid is purple and the bottle is clear. Cute. My gift set came with a 100ml bottle, and a 100ml body cream 😀

I wasn’t able to smell this, but I saw the bottle and it’s clear, not purple as they say in the description.

It’s actually an EDP not EDT. Got this in TJ Maxx today for only 12.99$ /100 ml/Opens very citrusy with berries then jasmine shows up with some light creamy coconut. Nice spring, summer scent light and feminine. Sillage is moderate will update later about longevity. So far I like it.
Update: Musky sweet vanilla still lingers around after 12 hours of application,
pretty good for an inexpensive celebrity perfume.
Nothing is groundbreaking about No Rules, but a pleasant addition to my collection.

  31. :

I smell berries, sugar and musk. No Rules is a typical sweet fruity floral on a musky base with a hint of wood. Nice, but if you are looking for anything unusual or tropical from these notes, you won’t find it. This opens up with sweet berries, and then some unspecified floral notes move in. The base is a clean musk and wood. I smell no coconut whatsoever. I think this is a fun, playful scent. The bottle is quite pretty and made of rather heavy glass. The liquid itself is actually dark purple, not pale like the picture shown here.

Miammmm!! I just can’t wait to fall on this one in store I just love coconut vanilla & musk , exotic touch! the notes sounds delightfull

  33. :

    4 out of 5

This sounds really nice, but can I ask why keep the lid from the first bottle?!…to me they just don’t fit together, like they really couldn’t think to make a different cap that fit the bottle…like something with simple clean edges like how the bottle is?! The juice sounds promising, but the bottle just gets an…uh..ok…

  34. :

    5 out of 5

I adore the bottle and the idea, but I don’t feel like the notes hint toward anything particularly exciting.
I could be wrong though. It all depends on how the plumeria/kumquat/almond notes fare against the fruits, bland florals, and coconut.
I’d like to be pleasantly surprised, with this offering yielding a fresh, island-flavored tropical floral escape. I want that bottle, but I won’t go for it unless the scent wows me as much as the design.
