A modern fragrance with classic fougere roots from Le Cherche Midi. Opens with rather abundant citrus/bergamot note, followed swiftly by a heavy French lavender and mint accord. This is a green/vegetal lavender which blends rather beautifully with the intriguing herbal mint, creating an overall “barber shop cologne” vibe initially. With time this softens, and the musky/woody oak moss appears in the base. Here it creates a smokey quality along with the included subdued resinous amber. I must admit this is one of the most dynamic fragrances I have tried from the line. It evolves from citrus, to herbal, to smokey in just a matter of minutes. Transformative! (129)

Bought this as a blind buy with gift set with 01 Nantucket, as well as 17 Cashmere Noir and 30 Eau D’Hiver. They are ALL amazing, although I’ve started off my indulgence with 01. I find it so different, and intruiging. I smell NOTHING chemical which is wonderful – so far smells like a mix of the highest quality essential oils. I definitely detect the lavender but not in an obvious way – more complex than straight lavender.
As it transitions to the heart, the woody notes make themselves more known and are balanced nicely with the mint, as well as the fresh and floral notes. At first it seems like a day scent, but I think it would actually be great for night time as well, as the oakmoss and driftwood add something drier and darker.
Edit: 1/2 hour later
Almost all florals are gone and it is extremely dry and woody with just the tiniest hint of vanilla. I almost feel like I’m smelling a very expensive cigar bar – the next day when no one is smoking and the scent is just lingering in the air. The heart is definitely pretty masculine, good for a less trendy, less girly kind of woman.
Another 1/2 hour later:
On the dry down, this has swung back to a more feminine scent, with a little more sweetness to it, almost like a chamomile note. In sum, it does have masculine elemenets but it will still have it’s place in my perfume wardrobe. I may try layering it with something more flowery to keep it on the feminine side.
Longevity: 6 or 7 hours later, I can still distinguish the lingering shadows of this beauty. Love it.
