Roses . . Deep. Dark. Roses. No thorns here, just a sweet rosaholic lullaby to lull you int believing in its innocence. Then it hits you . . . it is innocent. In the sense that it does not have an exact duplicate anywhere since each scent a person wears melds with that person’s chemistry. I have to say that this fragrance melds beautiful with mine. I purchased the rollerball after having sampled at the store, just in case my initial interaction with this scent would go south. Instead, it has done just the opposite. Each time I go to select a scent to wear and decide to select this one, its not, surprisingly, that I recall exactly how it is going to smell. On the contrary, I select to wear it to help me remind myself why I bought it in the first place. No, Its not that I do not like it, i do. I just have a difficult time recalling exactly how this scent smells from start to dry down. All that really comes to mind is that I want to re-experience the initial wearing/sampling that brought me to the place where i decided I needed to take it home. It is at once familiar and unknown. It smells unlike anything else in my collection and that is comforting and likable about this one. It seems always familiar when I wear it with a hint of “that’s not really what I expected, but it is nice anyway’.
To my nose, this should have been an Oriental floral, for the reason that the rose in this one is subtly , masculinely so. Many celebrity fragrances can’t full of the mystery surrounding a fragrance that keeps one reaching and re-reaching for it either knowingly or unknowingly, but this one keeps me in its thrall. It is always a delight to wear, and once it is applied my mind and senses can’t help but say, “Yes. This is why I took you home with me”.
“Boozy, dark rose…” is how this lovely scent is described by ‘christialnne1′, and I have to agree, however, with out the heady hangover of an overdone, overdose to “hell and back” dark rose.It seems that this scent should be up there with many other niche rose fragrances, not just for its uniqueness, but because of its chameleon-like beauty, which transposes the fragrance into an immediate skin scent that can also project. No mean feat. Just the fact that it is only 3 notes deep yet still manages to pull off one of the most perfectly blended celebrity fragrances (IMHO), cause me to SMH in awwhhh.
Well, done, Mary Kate and Asheley. Well done! Cant’ wait to try your other offers. If this one (Nirvana Rose) ,is the precursor to your other Nirvana fragrance lines, I feel I am in for a pleasant treat.

Roses, Herbs, Greens, and Dark Vetiver
I think that sometimes you’re expecting a ROSE perfume, rich and sweet and heady, especially when a perfume is so bluntly named, and that’s simply not that you get with Nirvana Rose.
If you can put this perfume in a painted picture, it would be a red rose in a mix of other greens and herbs. Lots of dark vetiver, green herbs, medicinal balms, some sour geranium, and even a hint of oakmoss and soil. This perfume is more green than red, and borders on bitter.
It smells like: A bright medicinal camphor, dark green vetiver, crushed garden herbs, a full rose planted in the earth with all the thorns, and some spicy geranium for contrast.
This is a borderline hipster perfume. Not hipster like say, Byredo or something (let alone because it’s not that expensive), but the real deal: You’re not going to smell like anyone else, wearing this, and it’s not on-trend at all. It seems that it may offend everyone at once: Nirvana Rose smells like you’re wearing perfume–put enough on and it lasts a full day with plenty of projection. It’s absolutely not sweet or easy, and the accords it brings out are not really popular at all (the darkness, the green, the medicinal aspect.) Yet I’ve gotten several compliments on this one, all from people who like scents that are a little different.

A very nice spicy, jammy rose fragrance. Reminded me a lot of rose d’arabie. will be great for a cool night out.

The more I wear it the more I love it. Got a sample when it was hot weather and thought it’s not my cup if tea. But then it cooled down and I gave it another try )) i only use one spray under the hair and one on clothes and it stays all day. It has smth common with JHaG, but don’t get any similarity with Montale. It’s a red rose scent, not pinky-soapy, maybe strict but also very sexy.

I really wanted to like this because I love rose, but I wanted something with a masculine edge. When I first smelled the rollerball I thought, “I’ve found it. There’s undeniably rose in there, but it’s also masculine, different, and anyone who doesn’t like just doesn’t ‘get’ it.” After wearing it a few times, I have to concede that I’m not as in love with it as I wanted to be. For some reason, I get olfactory fatigue much quicker with this fragrance. I kept layering it because I thought it was not lasting on my skin. By the end of the day, a coworker of mine who was not even sitting near me asked, “Why do you smell like an old Chinese woman?” lol It is very medicinal, and to me the rose is too evenly matched by the drier, medicinal notes that it does kind of end up smelling like someone wearing rose perfume who also rubbed icy hot or Asian medicinal oil on themselves. Also for some reason I cannot explain, this scent makes my throat feel really dry. It’s like it has the opposite effect of smells that make you salivate. I think I would like this scent more if the rose was a bit sweeter and had more control of this fragrance. If i was tinkering with this fragrance, I would say it’s on the right track but not quite finished.

This is another E&J fragrance rollerball that I bought out of my love for MK&A Olsen. As a guy who loves masculine florals or sophisticated florals in general, this fragrance is a win. E&J Nirvana Rose is a dusty, somewhat dark, rose fragrance. As other reviewers have stated, it’s mildly masculine, but still more on the feminine side. It’s a sophisticated and mature rose with a muskiness about it. I’ve noticed most of the E&J fragrances are mature and musky, could be to give it a grown up and mysterious vibe like the Olsen twins themselves. It is a nice fragrance though, definitely a dark floral that’s not overly sweet. I tend to enjoy the E&J fragrances on a work day at the store as I think of the Olsen twins working at their fashion houses. This is a great fragrance to smell as it goes great through out the work day.

This is probably one of the most different scents that I own. There’s something about the dull rose that makes it smell so musky and calm to me. Second favourite after Nirvana Black.

Dark gothic rose with a strange medicinal twinge. I wish I could say more about this but it is so faint on me I can barely smell it.

  9. :

    3 out of 5

On me this smells similar to Agent Provocateur after it has dried down. An entirely woodsy spicy rose without any sweetness, almost a bit musky. I would consider this the fall equivalent, with AP being suited for winter… longevity and projection are quite good.

This is not, on me, a winter frag; this is spring and hopefully summer. It’s rosey and spicy and green. If you sniff closely, there’s something aquatic to it. The geranium is almost as strong as the rose and the vetiver provides a perfect third chair.

  11. :

    3 out of 5

This one is strange and a bit weird. It’s not flowery, sweet, or what I would call “pretty” at all. This is 100% rose, but dry, dusty and musty. Like how dried roses pressed between the pages of an old book that was left in a damp cellar would smell. As weird as this is, I do like it. The musty note almost has a faint medicinal quality which I find very interesting. Completely unisex to my nose, and darkly goth. I could see Robert Smith of the Cure wearing this or maybe Angelina Jolie. Blind bought at TJ Maxx on final clearance for next to nothing and it ended up being the exact oppose of what I expected which turned out to be a good thing. Unusual, unexpected, and unlike any other rose scent Ive experienced which might might make people run to it, or run away from it. I, for one, am intrigued.

  12. :

    3 out of 5

this is a camphorous rose that is rose petals that are mulching in the flowerbed; this is not a jammy or green sweet true rose; it is dark and herbal, a bit fetid due to the herbaceous quality of the vetiver and geranium that are powerful in the drydown.

  13. :

    4 out of 5

This perfume by the Olsen Twins is actually quite impressive. On my first try it smelled almost gourmand like Mugler La Rose Angel. But I tried it again a second time and this time it started out as a fresh rose scent that quickly dried down with geranium and some vertiver turning it into a dark goth rose. It’s confident, strong and yet a free soul without a care in the world. I like it.

  14. :

    3 out of 5

Something funky in the drydown gets to me and makes an otherwise beautiful fragrance subpar. It opens amazingly. A spicy, juicy rose. After a few hours whatever funk is lurking beneath surfaces and I can’t stand it anymore. Unfortunately, this is one of my longest-lasting perfumes so I awoke the next morning still smelling something odd.

  15. :

upon first sniff i determined this scent was not finished. it’s not vetivery enough, not geraniumy enough, plus it was missing something. I cloned this frag’s backbone and bolstered it. I added some haitian vetiver, bourbon geranium, sandalore, indonesian patchouli and my incense blend. i left the rose alone, i liked the rose.
nirvana as it is, was too bright. i get it, nirvana, to be illuminated, happy and all that. but it was too happy, fake happy. it felt like it should have had more depth, more age.
i like what they tried to do, but i felt like they were afraid of going deeper. they should have gone deeper.
for the wearer : if you wear this standalone, that’s fine but if you really want to get the most out of it layer it. i would use something with heavy amber/incense and/or patchouli. i would later it with a frag with a heavy base.

Love Love Love!!!! I am a rose lover. I have worn Stella and Chloe for years together. I have always loved the idea of masculinish or spicy rose. But most of such perfumes available in the market have patchouli in it and it plainly stinks up on me.
This is a funny one. Its not green rose. It’s nice rich spicy dry vetivery rose and does not have patch!! Nice and mysterious

I waited to try this E&J Nirvana variety because I am typically not a fan of florals, and it being called “Rose” led me to believe it was going to have me smelling like a grandma. I absolutely LOVE Nirvana Black and Nirvana Bourbon because they aren’t your typical female scents…and I could have kicked myself for not trying Nirvana Rose sooner.
It’s different, but in a great way. It’s not floral on me at all–it’s complex and romantic, spicy yet moderately sweet. It’s depth is interesting and inviting, never obnoxious or overbearing to the wearer or those nearby. I find it’s longevity and silage to be far greater than other perfumes, and this is coming from a Southern climate where we have nothing but what feels like humid, warm Spring-Summer days most of the time.
This perfume would fit someone who is looking to stand out quietly amongst the crowd–the girl at the party who walks in confident, not caring what anyone thinks about her at all, with a smile on her face, and a spring in her step. She’s sexy without trying to be. That’s who can wear this perfume and totally rock it out.

  18. :

    4 out of 5

I’ll agree with everyone here that this is definitely not a blind buy. However, I loved this and ordered a bottle within hours of using the tester I got from sephora. In Southern California, most fall scents feel overwhelming to me because we really don’t have cold weather (while I love a lot of winter staples like Prada Candy and some of the Tom Ford Orchids, they sometimes feel like wearing a heavy wool coat in 60 degree weather), but I do always want to change it up from fresh/pure floral that I rock in the spring and summer months. This kind of turned out to be the perfect fit for that bill. On my skin, it feels like a falled-up floral, without being a heavy fall warm scent. Who knew that would happen from just three notes?

  19. :

    5 out of 5

I didn’t know that I liked roses until this perfume. This perfume has introduced me to many many different perfumes, and sadly it made me realize that this one is not as special as other rose scented perfumes are. I still like it though. It has a deep smell that sometimes can come off as heavy. I think it would be best used during the fall, winter (cold seasons) or sometime in the night.

I adore rose and moss notes, so I don’t know what went wrong here. I only smelled something sour and dirty with a dry rose in the background, and had to wash it off 🙁 It sort of smelled like civet too. Either my sample was bad or it just doesn’t work with my chemistry. Still glad I tried it.

  21. :

Oy, this one is not for me. In fact, it’s one of my least favorite E&J perfumes.
It opens with a STRONG honey scent which mixes with something super spicy (geranium??). The rose gradually comes through, but even a while after spraying, it still smells like spicy, floral honey and rose.
Not very good sillage or longevity on this one; it seems a little weak.
I love rose, but this one disappointed. Others have urged to test first, and I totally agree. I do not recommended for a blind buy.

  22. :

I am not into rose scents. At. All.
This is pretty decent though. It has a spicy, bodily scent underneath a slightly sharp, clean rose. It’s medium weight all the way through, and not overly complicated.
It reminds me of having just the beginnings of sweat on the skin during a hot summer day. When the natural scent of the body starts to wake up, before the real odour kicks in.
But maybe that’s just because it reminds me of seeing my grandmother during humid summer days, and smelling her rose scent floating about. Hahaha
Either way, there’s a bit of freedom in this scent. A confident boho style of summer evenings without care or complication.

So far, this perfume is a bomb with my husband and a huge hit with bees. Not what I usually go for. I got it as a sample (“I can’t remember where” I said, to which my husband replied “that’s probably for the best”) and sprayed some on this morning. HUGE blast of rose – and something spicy. It wasn’t quite my thing, and my husband was even less enthusiastic. However, the bees at the light rail station were all about it and kept divebombing at me. The smell did grow on me a bit and I wished I liked it more (and bees liked it less) because it has great longevity, and fades into something gentler – but still noticeable – by the end of the day. But as I do want to attract my husband and I’d just as soon not attract bees.

Oh boy! I have never in my entire life hated a fragrance so much. There’s certain scents that I can understand that while it’s not for me, it can be for someone else. However; this scent smells nauseating on everyone I’ve smelled it on. I have to remind myself that not all scents that contain rose will smell like this. It’s partially tainted the whole notes reputation for me.
It’s not a complex fragrance at all but I can’t quite figure out what about it makes it so stinking bad. I’m talking gagging and instant headaches with this one. To the point that I had a coworker that would wear it and I had to ask if she wouldn’t. Which I have never done before, but my goodness, I have never felt so sick from a perfume. I received the roller ball of this and I basically hide it away because I don’t want to risk giving it to a friend and them wearing it.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

I received a sample with a Sephora purchase. I make it a point to stay away from celebrity fragrances, but it was free, so why not?
The first blast was interesting. Rose, geranium and vetiver and that’s it. Rose comes across cleanly, then dries up. More than that, it dehydrates, like holding a freeze-dried rose leaf and having it disintigrate in your hand. The geranium became more prominent, although mixed with vetiver, not overly sweet.
It reminded me of something you’d find in a dusty old attic, spiderwebs around, broken, greying and cracked mirrors reflecting bare bulbs. It doesn’t smell musty at all, but smells as if it fits with a musty, ancient room that has secrets.
It’s a very dry, almost dead rose with a pop of sweetness. It’s interesting. Is it sexy? Not in my perfume book. Is it memorable? I think yes. Will it work for daily use?
That completely depends on your style. Not with jeans and a white tee, not with a boho dress.
The fall 2017 season is all about modern Victorian: ruffles, lace, big ornate jewelry and puffy sleeves, yet in modern colors and with sex appeal. This is a perfume that will fit into this ethos perfectly. If you like what’s coming down the runway, you might like it paired with this fragrance.
Do try before you buy. I think your skins chemistry is important with this one. It is not the rose perfume you may be thinking of, definitely not dripping with femininity. But it is stylish and fitting for the times.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

I wholeheartedly agree with esteban747’s review. This is one I think you definitely need to test out before buying. I feel like this is one of those scents that I think will smell like 5 different fragrances on 5 different women. Which is pretty amazing to think about, considering there are only 3 notes.
On me, I detect a medicinal smell about this, combined with roses, of course. Not a terrible smell, it is actually kind of unique..but is not ‘me’. Does last all day and beyond, so kudos for that. But this just makes me smell too much like a medicine chest (with the strong medicinal scent) meets funeral parlor (with the rose scent). Just not for me.

  27. :

    4 out of 5

I swear I could smell oud. I got a sample but I didn’t check the notes until today and I was surprised to see only vetiver as the only “dry” ingredient.
I think this perfume is not for everyone, it has personality.
The rose is beautiful but paired with vetiver it creates an odd mix, medicinal or dirty.
The opening is more feminine but I think this fragrance can be unisex.
Still, try it before. Can be a risky blind buy item.

On the strip this smelled lovely and like something likeable. One spray when tried on skin, ugh. The musk magnified and lasted hours while the poor rose barely made a few minutes appearance and then retired forever. Definitely not for me.
So thankful stores give samples to try.

If Montale’s Intense Cafe had a little sister, this might be it. Or maybe a granddaughter, because this is WAY more subtle.
I tested it last year at Sephora, and again as I was gifted a sample. It’s pretty, and for those looking for a nice modern rose that is entirely inoffensive for work, this could make a nice signature.
It’s not my taste. It will likely be gifted to one of the students or staff members here, or to a woman in the community.

Another’s comment called this a dirt rose, perfect description. A real rose smell, not a sweet floral cut rose that’s been put into a vase but one that is linked to the earth. Deep and complex, moderate to long-lasting longevity, intimate silage – I love this fragrance.

Currently the only celeb scent I own, which is saying something. Forget Full House, this is the Olsen Twins’ best work. This is actually a very nice dark, spicy rose fragrance. It’s in the same family (although not exactly the same) as some of the others in the dirty rose category such as Tom Ford’s Noir de Noir, Portrait of a Lady, Calligraphy Rose, et al. People who don’t like those fragrances won’t like this one. But if you’re in the market for deep dark rose or if you’re one of the Fragranticans who gravitates to the somewhat gothic scents (you know who you are!), this is definitely worth a try.
Very good projection and nice longevity.

Cutting to the chase: This smells nearly identical to the rose scented bathroom air freshener that my grandmother used in the 1970s. In other words, more of an artificial red rose than a real rose. The oud is barely existent. Fair sillage. I have to say, I am not impressed by E&J fragrances so far. Nirvana Rose is disappointing and smells too much like old-fashioned bathroom deodorizer for me. I was hopeful, but this was disappointing. There are far more interesting and sophisticated rose and oud scents out there.

This is a very jammy and medicinal rose. Like eating turkish delights while applying tiger balm.
That description sounds horrible and while the juice is not my favorite, it plays well with others. When accompanied by a woody/ grounding scent, this transforms into a complex beauty. Alone, it is a one note wonder.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

For this one, I only had a paper sample, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I sort of feel the same way about this one as I do the White and Bourbon I tried (via spray sample). It’s got a heavy handed start, but it quickly dims into something quite light and forgetful. Real close the the skin there is some smoky wood, similar to the smoky note in Bourbon. It’s probably the best one out of the three I’ve tried, it tries to mimic a oud rose which is nice. 6/10 Wouldn’t mind snatching a bottle of it.
Edit: got my hands on a spray sample, and my opinion is unchanged. This is the best one of the lot, but it’s still not saying a whole lot. They all sort of mirror each other, very light low humming notes.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Four hours after I first applied this I got very realistic crushed rose geranium leaves and boozy vanilla. The journey took awhile, but I like it. It’s not a soft floral at all. There’s a garden rose called the Knockout Rose- that would be an accurate name for what I’m smelling.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

Haven’t sprayed this on me, but from a paper sample that I have smelled, it smelled way to strong of something murky. Not a big fan of it at all, the dry down gives me more of roses than anything else. Reminds me of the Chanel No5 in a bad way, because I don’t like it. Will try it on my skin though and notice if my opinion changes.

    Ooo, lovely.
So this scent seems to attract a lot of the ‘ew, old lady stink’ opprobrium on Sephora, which is where this retails.
I understand what they intend by ‘smells like old lady’…I associate that term with heavy, bitch-slap florals and the raging aldehydes, ie Chanel No 5 or Fracas, and the reason you associate it with old ladies is that the prevailing trend in perfume has admittedly moved away from those, whereas when today’s old ladies were our age, that’s what was in.
I get that, but it’s still insulting. First of all, what’s wrong with old women? Lots of people never have the chance to get old. I bet they don’t want to die young; they’ll be happy if their daughters grow up to be old ladies. Stop asking for karma to pay you out by belittling getting old!
Second, lots of women who aren’t old still love ‘old’ fragrances. Lots of em’ here on THIS site. Smart women!
Okay, anyway. I loved Nirvana Rose. It DOES smell heavy and vintage. But it’s an old lady who’s hip as sh$&. It’s a little mysterious and sultry and odd. The rose is not crisp, it still has stem and dirt on it, and it was plucked out of a dark, mossy forest bush. A man could wear this, and rose is not something that generally has ‘man’ written on it.
You’re out for a bike ride or a walk, and you turn down a street you never noticed before and at the end of the cul-de-sac is a very large Victorian house on a hill, or a house that looks a little like the Bates house. You just HAVE to go in for a closer look, so you get off your bike and climb the steps up the hill to the porch. On the porch rail is sitting a giant blue parrot wearing a vest and watch. He looks at the front door and you see it’s open, so you know it’s okay to go in. There’s an owl sitting on the staircase rail whispering to a hedgehog and they shush up when they see you and the owl gestures you upstairs.
Upstairs looks like a dank Victorian attic, dust floating in the sun shafts through the windows. There’s mannequins wearing beautiful old coats and slung with pearls, stacks of old, old Louis Vuitton trunks and some old wood-and-iron school desks with portraits of Queen Victoria and similar contemporaries in ornate frames on the walls and leaning on stacks of old books with that distinctive old-library smell.
Sitting at one desk is a red fox dressed like Mr Darcy, writing in a ledger, who eyeballs you for a minute then reaches into his desk, pulls out THIS bottle, and pushes it across the desk at you. You pick it up and he points to an old floor length mirror. You spray it on and when the mist settles you see in the mirror you now look like Lauren Bacall.
Not old lady Lauren Bacall, young siren Lauren Bacall. Um, yes please. Look up photos, she was uber-hot and she was hot and classy till the end of her old lady days.
The fox gestures for you to keep the bottle and waves you out. You leave the house and walk down the hill, and the animals watch you go.
When you get to the street again, you turn around and the house looks old and empty again, and you are normal, un-sultry you again, BUT the bottle of Nirvana Rose is still in your pocket and you can be a hot 1940’s bombshell again anytime you want now.
That’s what this smells like on me. Would totally buy this again. Go sample it and keep an open mind.

A lush, jammy rose appears, only to disappear into a vetiver stench cloud moments later.
I really admired (even loved) the Olsen twins’ Nirvana Black, but the two flankers (Bourbon and Rose) leave something to be desired. I feel as if the gorgeous rose that blooms in Nirvana Rose could have benefited from more than three fragrance notes. Clearly, there was an attempt to buttress it with the geranium, but lo, the vetiver takes over nonetheless.
It’s kind of unfortunate — if this fragrance didn’t have such an awkward lack of balance, it could have become one of my favorite roses! And I love a good rose.

I don’t know if it’s supposed to be unisex or not, but if Noir de Noir (and even Black Orchid) are considered unisex, this certainly should be as well! Albeit leaning a bit feminine (it IS rose, after all) I would not feel at all out of place wearing this.
I feel like if you mixed Noir de Noir with Cartier Declaration d’Un Soir (a somewhat feminine men’s rose scent), and made it a dash more feminine, this is what you’d end up with. Noir De Noir is a dirty rose, and Declaration d’Un Soir is a clean, green, “wet” rose. But this? This is the best of both. A very life-like rose! You can almost feel the cool, velvety petals tickling your nose when you smell it. Like a dark red rose that has just bloomed.
Compared to Nirvana Bourbon, this has MUCH greater projection, but much shorter longevity, for me at least. POW! In your face rose! And then, it faded away about 4-5 hours later. Others have gotten much better performance (8+ hours), so your mileage may vary. Nirvana Bourbon starts out closer to the skin, but continues to project (softly) for a longer period for me (6 hours), fading away completely about 7-8 hours later.
I firmly believe that Nirvana Bourbon was inspired by a lighter and more feminine Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Likewise, to my nose, Nirvana Rose is like a lighter more wearable Tom Ford Noir de Noir. Noir de Noir wasn’t high on my list, but THIS I would actually wear! As with my view on Nirvana Bourbon, the only real downfall is the price!

Tried this, I feel it’s a deep, dark, ambery, patchouli, vetiver rose, the sort of rose, it is a uniqie rose scent , this isn’t a modern or sweet scent in any way, not a drop of fruit, and it’s also one of the sexiest rose fragrances out there. I couldn’t take it on a daily basis, but I’d wear it on a date

Nirvana Rose is moody and intelligent; an entry-level “brooding” fragrance. If Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss started listening to Bauhaus and Joy Division she would’ve turned into Nirvana Rose.
On the right skin type the bright rose and clever geranium blend seamlessly with the dusty vetiver, creating an air of mystery. It almost smells dank, yet somehow retains brightness; like a cool cavern with a strip of sunshine beaming through a gap in the stone. This is a somber fragrance: I could not spray this before crusin’ down the highway in my drop-top on a sunny, clear afternoon. Pair this scent with a velvet dress and white Sambuca instead; wear it while you watch the movie “Vanilla Sky”.
I do not have the right skin type for Nirvana Rose. On me it smells like cedar chips soiled by a rodent’s urine – sweet, sharp, and woody-dusty. Pity, because I adore the notes, feeling, and bottle.

This is a rose lover’s dream! The geranium fades quickly and the deep, romantic rose and the vetiver take turns in the forefront throughout the remaining hours it lasts on me. The depth and complexity of the scent is incredible, despite very few notes listed. This is my favorite scent for a romantic date in Fall/winter. It’s so boozy & intoxicating. I can understand some people feeling this is too mature smelling, but I find it so modern, unique, and interesting.

Add this to the list of Nirvana fragrances I hoped I would like, but don’t! The rose and geranium notes take a back seat quickly, leaving a sharp minty menthol or camphor scent. There is a hint of powder and wood that slightly burn my nose when I smell this. It definitely reminds me of a shampoo or cleanser. Masculine and kind of clean smelling as a result.

Wow, I love this! I was wary of trying it because I strongly dislike Nirvana White, but I’m a rose fanatic and this is a must!
It’s a very dark and earthy rose. It’s not a fresh rose where you only smell the petals. With Nirvana Rose, you get it all–stems, thorns, moss, and dirt. That’s what makes it smell like a true rose, not an artificial “rose interpretation.” The earthiness is probably the reason why others have mentioned that it smells melancholy, maybe even “Victorian.” When I wear this, I am reminded of the magical rose in Beauty and the Beast–it’s slowly wilting in a dank, cold castle as the frost approaches.
At the same time, I can see how others might think it smells like potpourri, especially in the first hour of wear, but believe me, it deepens into an earthy rose as the scent wears on because the vetiver breaks through. The vetiver is very strong and adds a masculine quality, but it doesn’t smother the ever-present rose. My boyfriend actually dislikes this fragrance on me because he thinks it smells too masculine and dirty.
My only disappointment is that the vetiver breaks through the rose sooner than I would have liked. But overall, Nirvana Rose is undeniable and has become my winter rose! If you’re a rose lover like me, you must give this a try. 5/5

This is one of my favorite rose perfumes. It’s a green wild rose with slight green honey undertones. No amber, powder, musk, or potpourri. It wears forever, and it’s also fantastic to spray with other fragrances. I love layering it with peach or tobacco themes and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
I wish more men would wear this!!!

Tres belle! Lovely, mysterious…this is elegant sexy..it makes me feel so good! A winter rose, this is in no way depressing but uplifting in a very romantic way. Warm, cozy with your love by the fire..the promise of spring in it’s rose notes. I wish the nose behind this scent would be revealed…genius! It comes on strong at first but give it a chance, glad I did!

Hmm I may need to try this again. I am so stuck on whether I like it. At first spray I get a surprisingly dark deep missy
