Description

At Bond No. 9, the Oud has come out of the closet
and transformed itself into a smooth, full-throttle New York-centric perfume.
What a paradox! Who knew?

New York Oud: The name says it all. Bond No. 9 is launching an expectation-
defying oud—a beautiful contradiction in terms that’s re-invented the whole idea of
this much discussed perfume phenomenon. The trick, of course, was to modernize
and urbanize that exotic staple, the oud, and give it a New York verve that it’s never
had before. A paradox, to be sure. But then New York is a place where impossible,
magical paradoxes come true.

It’s only fitting that our beloved city should be given a seemingly self-
contradictory oud perfume of its own. And fortunately, we have some experience
with ouds. Back in 2008, we introduced our first, for Harrods, that proved,
astonishingly, to be the London emporium’s best-selling fragrance—a historic success.
And we were emboldened. For our tenth anniversary last year, we quietly developed
a second oud, Bond No. 9 Oud, that mingled Eastern and Western fragrance
sensibilities. But was that enough? No. What remained was to test the limits of the
oud, put it through a sea change, and modernize it for our high-energy metropolitan
landscape.

Enter New York Oud, which launches in time for Valentine’s Day 2011.
Though we chose to retain the androgynous nature of the Old World oud, there is

otherwise nothing traditional or incense-laden about our new version. Instead, we’ve
given it a dynamic self-assured smoothness—an adventurously creamy velvet texture
it’s never had before. At its heart is a sumptuous rose bouquet which soon spins off
into the all-important dry-down that defines this perfume: A dense and syrupy oud
that joins forces with musky teakwood (another welcome new addition to Western
perfumery) and earthy vetiver to create a lingering urban-forest accord. And linger it
will. Its oud concentration is a full 30 percent—not the typical 20 percent of eaux de
parfum.

As with its forerunner, Bond No. 9 Perfume, New York Oud comes in a
superstar bottle that displays an overall laser-etched patterning of our signature token,
rendered here in a smoky gunmetal grey with glints of gold—the colors of the electric
New York street-scape as twilight turns into evening. Hold the bottle up to the light,
and you’ll see through to the billowing liquid inside.

New York Oud ingredients: Top notes – Red Plum: sweet
but tart—and ready
to rumble.
The very same honey-like
Saffron that Cleopatra tossed into
her bath to enhance her lovemaking.
Orange Zest: Who knew a citrus fruit
could have so much fun?
Heart notes –
An émigré Oud, Green Card in hand,
taking on the New World.
A Red Rose bouquet with
one resounding message—romance.
Orris: The ladylike iris’s untamed alter ego.
Patchouli, prowling the streets of New York in
take-no-prisoners seduction mode.
Base notes –
Musk: simply put, the sensual smell of skin.
Honey—partnering with musk for some animal sultriness.
Earthy Vetiver—the designated driver, adding composure and stability.

This one smells very much like Cartier’s Declaration d’un Soir. Classy, sophisticated and lustful. In a nutshell New Your Oud is simply fabulous.

YouTube Kevin Samuels convinced me but I have the Perfume Parlour version of it – the original is a bit harder to find in Central Europe –but the Perfume Parlour version is excellent al my female colleagues love it too – it’s divine –it projects like crazy – The PP version might be a bit more zesty than the original – I did not smell the original – but if I read the comments below no one really speaks about the zest – the PP version is more orange zesty to me, normally I am not a fan of too much zest because in many perfumes the zest is more an artificial smell than a natural smell – I was never a big fan of Oud perfumes too but I have learn to love them if the oud is not overwhelming and well blended with fresher notes the perfumes turn into a very classy scents – This New York oud really stands out – love it – maybe I have to try or buy the original as well or turn the PP oil into a body lotion

Smells very similar to Montale Black Aoud.

My signature. This is awesome. It is long lasting and creates a bubble of awesomeness around you. It trails wherever you go. Totally unisex and works well on date nights. Possible even in casual business settings this one will work great. Well worth the price.

Not a fan of oud, this one is my first that I like and own. Tried it a few times before developing a taste for it. Soapy rose opening followed by oud. Oud in not shard, soften by rose, actually together making classic rose-oud composition popular lately. Easy to wear oud. Unisex. Great longevity, hours later smelling a strong oud. Going to keep this perfume, it had grown on my despite me not being a fan of Bond 9 our oud.

This scent is loud, loud loud, and projects like crazy. The drydown is lovely- rich plummy/incense lightened somewhat with rose- but the first impression is VERY in your face. This is great for the set who wants to impress before eyes are set on them. This is also for those who try a bit too hard at the club. Proceed with caution.

Further review….after dry down, the fragrance actually smells nice…a bit of plum and oud….just a very bad first impression.

Oud fragrance collector here. Ok…just got it. Smell the plums, smell the honey. Do not smell the oud or the rose. It is rather strong, and pungent. Something a street walker would wear because you do not have to shower between clients. Definitely New York, crassy, chewing gummy kind of in your face fragrance. Not too sure it works…maybe on the dry down. More for women then for men…for sure…

What if i told you you’d been tricked, and this is really Nicki Minaj’s new fragrance, Rotten Lychee? Would you still buy it?

Not rose, it’s very artificial, overwhelming peony. This is a total “I’m here, no doubt about it” kind of perfume the way it projects.

Wow, I really, don’t like this one. Wearing it right now from a sampler given to me by the salesrep, it has a very penetrating, artificial stench that I don’t know which note it is and I don’t care, it’s just awful, headache inducing. I’m going to endure it all the way to be able to report you guys if it gets better in the dry-down or what but for now, just awful. Cctcook said it smelled to him like pee; it made me think for a minute ’cause I realize he might be on to something but now I think is not pee but either the ammonia in urine or a chemical used to clean toilets.
I have tried now lots of perfumes from this brand (all for men I think, not sure if the salesrep changed to the unisex ones at one point; I don’t think I have tried the female line) and I don’t get how anybody could like this brand nor this company sell them at those outrageous prices (maybe they thought “-we were trying to make perfumes and we ended up with industrial chemicals smells, wtf? Marketing!!! -Yes sir? -I’m facing bankruptcy, what can we do? – well sir, we could jack up the prices. -What? I’m worried that we won’t be able to get people to wear these perfumes even if we give them for free and you want to raise the prices? -Well sir, most people draw a direct relation between price and quality, and therefore think the perfumes must be among the best, regardless if they like them or not; in other words, they might want to buy them just to show that they are connoisseurs; They won’t see the emperors’ new clothes, but they’ll sure praise them loudly. Also the higher we sell them, some people will covet them just for the exclusivity the price confers and to show they have money. -Sold! That’s why I pay you the big bucks, uncork the champagne.) I love the bottles though.
One good think I can say about these perfumes, beside the bottles, is the projection and longevity, exactly what I have been trying to find in perfumes, shame that it’s worth squat when it smells as awful as these but, if for some strange reason that I will never be able to understand, you happen to like one of them, then know that the previous one I tested was hard to remove from my hands, I washed it several times but to no avail.
*Edit: guys, I’m trying here, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to last ’till the end, it’s hurting my eyes (I’m not kidding), I sprayed it on the top of my hands and I’m working from my computer so it’s about 12-15 inches away from my face. Feels like fumes emanating from this thing.
Edit2: Oh, I forgot to finish this yesterday. After 4 hours and change it lost the sharp odor (like a screech as one poster said) and started to smell like an actual perfume though still a bad one and very weak. At 6 hours I couldn’t smell it anymore (thank goodness). Before it wore down, my wife came home and I asked her what she thinks; I always ask with a poker face and I’m always reminding her that I need an honest opinion and that I don’t make the perfumes so she doesn’t need to be polite. She told me “it smells weird!” (my opinion as well, and no perfume should smell weird), and then she said, lol, smells like pee, which surprised me as it was the same thinking as the previously mentioned poster.
Edit3: not sure if it’s this one’s sample or another of the same brand that I equally dislike but it has stunk up my entire wardrobe. Why lousy scents have the best longevity and sillage? Damn.

took a few wears for me to actually like it. but now that i do its a pretty good fragrance. not my fav from the bond line but a good one. my wife and i both wear this and it smells slightly different on her.
scent is 8/10 i get a lot of plum with oud sprinkled here and there.
projection and longevity are off the charts. i can literally smell this for over 10 feet away.
    10/10 for those.
    peace and blessings to all

A couple of firsts for me – one of first Bond’s I tried (and loved) and the first Oud-based fragrance I really enjoyed. It has roots in the Bond No 9 Perfume (signature?) that preceded it, but leans more masculine and more wearable to my nose, even boasting a 30% Oud content.
The saffron, rose and oud create some magic that I believe Josh Meyer was reaching for w Imaginary Authors’ Slow Explosions.
Something special here for me for many reasons…
I enjoy this best in the coldest temps of the year, even daring a few wears in early spring, but careful w this if temps begin to reach past 72 F.

Oh my!!! If you have skin chemistry like mine, you are in for a RIDE!!!
Woman at the counter was so convinced I’d love it, instead of spraying it on a card, she says “I have to spray this right on your skin, it’s magical!” (Bless her heart, from the reviews here, most people find it intoxicating and awesome, so I don’t blame her for her faith, but after me, I don’t think she’ll spay anyone else without a direct request!!)
And it was kind-of magical in a way, I mean it was like a spell was cast on my arm… The first whiff right off the bat, I exclaimed “Oh, I smell pee!!” And I blushed for saying “pee” so loudly in public, and apologized, and told the lady maybe it will change with dry down, I’ll give it a minute…
Oh boy, No!!! I can hardly find words to describe… Amazing?? I really was amazed!! The top note on my skin was unwashed hairy construction worker arm pit after a long, hard summer day of back breaking labor, and I was amazed at how dead on it was!! I mean, that guy was right there and rubbed his armpit on me, I could swear to it!! But, it wasn’t just the stinky armpit, which was so real it was crazy, but the urine smell also condensed, went even dirtier.. highway-side run down gas-station bathroom, the kind where you have to get the key from cashier and go to side of the building, and you can smell it’s filthy urine soak from outside of the door… And I literally was so floored with how bad it was I started laughing… I haven’t had something so insane happen to me in as long as I could remember!! The lady smelled it and said “oh, yes, kind-of like cat pee. Ammonia? Wow, that’s really bad on you!!”, (me, laughing in amazement) “I don’t smell cat pee, but I absolutely smell sweaty hairy arm pit and filthy bathroom… It’s crazy!!”
Could not stop laughing, and could not stop smelling my arm because I was in such amazement at how true the notes were to such horrible smells, both equally authentic and both equally present!! The lady tried to wipe it off 3 times with the water-less foam soap, and it would not come off!! Each time she tried, I’d smell my arm and laugh again as I said “Nope, still there!! Oh my gosh, it won’t come off!!” And it didn’t!! This stuff has longevity for miles!! Won’t wash off, had to wear off!! Washed with soap, peppermint soap, dish soap, I sprayed my arm with rubbing alcohol… She sprayed me at 4 in the afternoon and after many washes, still could smell it when I went to bed. Thank goodness it was gone in the morning, although I was a little sad, because it was so hilarious to me, and it was like the ride was over… With the rave reviews, I feel so excluded, betrayed by my body chemistry… I want to smell like the reviews describe!!! I highly suggest trying this on your skin first..
However, if you love life, and can find joy in unexpected adventure, I recommend the experience, either way, it really was kind-of magical and something I won’t forget!! 😉

This used to be so at the top of my rose/oud beasts, but then I tried Tom Ford Oud Wood. Holy CROW! This is still one my favorites because I love plum as well……and seeing as those are the top 3 recognizable notes YES~!

I told a coworker about this and he beat me to it; the first time I smelled it on him I didn’t know what it was but thought wow he won as we go back and forth competing with niche fragrances and when he told be NyO is what he was wearing I was stunned it smelled just as good as I would’ve hoped so on vacation in Minnesota I stopped to test out again before buying and didn’t like it ( found out later that was due to 90 degree weather) but time passed And weather changed I heard a gentleman ask about the tola oil at the mall so I walked over and smelled the eau DE parfum he had on and wow I knew I had to have it; it has that special edge that’s says I spent top shelf to smell this good all over it and it’s a one of a kind believe me. Wearing it yourself doesn’t really justify what others get from you when wearing this; it’s like the buck stops here. Not overly sweet and so many scents collide perfectly that anyone can tell that this is no cheap pick and needs proper attire to really set it off. I’m in love and I love the tola oil even more as it is so smooth and a little sweeter so the ladies love it on me more plus the strength is stellar as well.

    Projection 10/10
    Longevity 10/10
    Value 6/10
    Overall 7/10
A rose bomb with oud and some sweetness. It’s a high quality frag but not one I would repurchase as the rose is very pungent to me.

This is a very smooth, juicy and luscious scent… For those saying this is not a crowd pleaser, THINK AGAIN!!! I get so many compliments when I wear this! More so than, say Chergui, or my Bleecker street.
Lasts all day! I ‘m the type who grows very tired of the Rose/Oud combos because theres only so much you can get from the likesof it.
This definitely stands out from the rest!

This has become my signature scent. I originally bought this beast because of the reviews of longevity and Sillage. I love a scent that will be noticed….and this one will be. Typically I have a habit of over spraying my fragrances. With this one I try to have less of a heavy hand due to the pure strength of NY Oud.
The scent of this is not exactly representative of it individual notes….they seem to all work together to make a beautiful fragrance. This is not to say that the notes are not detectable….however, they all add and balance each other out.
When someone smells NY Oud on you, they will automatically think money…A rich, powerful, effective person is standing here, a person who I should notice and respect. At the same time it sends a earthy message about the wearer, advising that this powerful person is still approachable.
NY Oud is a powerful scent that will tell a story about you! It well worth the high price tag.

A bitchslap of saffron, some rose, a subtle fruity (plum? sure) note, some musk, and a very “Montale” oud note which obviously isn’t actually what any type of oud smells like.
This is first and foremost a saffron with rose fragrance with a musky/fruity underpinning. Should have been called New York Saffron.
Sillage and longevity are big, but I’m not a fan of the smell.

WHEN I SMELLED THIS I IMAGINED A WEALTHY DISTINGUISHED GREY HAIRED GENTLEMAN IN A BLACK SUIT WITH A WHITE COLLARED SHIRT WHO IS USED TO ONLY THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE. CIGAR SMOKE IS IN THE AIR AS HE SITS IN A DIMLY LIT LUXURIOUS LOUNGE AMONG LEADERS, GORGEOUS WOMEN AND PEOPLE IN A POSITION OF GREAT POWER.
THIS MAN IS RESPECTED, POWERFUL, WISE, KIND, HUMBLE, AND EXTREMELY WEALTHY.

I think my nostrils must be out of order…this a dinosour killer to me… and a strong contestant for a mass destruction or tear gas canister,it even smells like piss at times…cant get the many positive comments on this…if you want to smell high class smooth oud…look somewhere else…e.g. accord oud or oud immortel
Edit…I have to add..this is a disgusting stuff guys…after 8 hours, it smells like a barn full of sweating donkeys who drank too much beer after a successful circus show and started pissing inside the same barn….

Did everyone else get a different bottle then me!? This smells almost entirely of patchouli and a touch of plum, the barest floral hint and no oud. I wanted to love this so much but the deafening patchouli is making my eyes water.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

Even though it involves some plum, rose, and saffron, the oud is front-and-center for the majority of the fragrance’s life, and it’s not very impressive at all. It smells simply of oud, but while it isn’t cloying, it’s not special or interesting in any way. There is an abundance of rose/oud fragrances, and many manage to be more agreeable and inviting than New York Oud, and at the same time go in more daring and interesting directions: consider Armani Prive Rose d’Arabie on the expensive side ($290 for 100ml), or 24 Platinum Oud on the more affordable side ($55-$65 for 100ml). It’s difficult to fathom spending much money on New York Oud at all, whether coming from the perspective of a fan of the abovementioned rose oud fragrances or someone who enjoys a harsher, dirtier oud like Le Labo Oud 27. New York Oud seems to have been given a warm reception but I would wholly pass on this in favor of exploring other ouds out there. There’s nothing overly bad about it; it’s simply unremarkable in the world of ouds, or floral ouds.

STRONG opening with prominent plum and rose, combined with a creaminess that I’m finding is somewhat a “house signature” of Bond No9. The oud is clearly detectable in the background as a dry earthiness providing a base for the lighter top notes. As mentioned in reviews below, this is quite strong, and 1 spray should be plenty to get noticed easily within arms length. 2 sprays in colder weather ONLY, otherwise you risk choking people out. Definite similarity to Aoud Purple Rose by Montale (which I prefer over this one), but comes across lighter and fruiter due to the plum note, which I’m not really a fan of.
All in all, this develops quite linearly on me over its 10 hour life, with the oud stepping to the fore in the latter hours, and the plum fading slightly. It’s certainly interesting, and I think this one leans more feminine than masculine (a confident, light, bright, yet self-assured scent for a likewise woman). I think as far as rose scents go, this one could be worn by a man, but I prefer the Montale rose signature which is found in Black Aoud, Aoud Lime, Moon Aoud, and Aoud Purple Rose (which this one is closest to). The Oud note in the Montales is also a bit more medicinal, less creamy, and masculine. As I’m trying them side by side on each arm, I prefer Montale Aoud Purple Rose through all phases of the development. Nonetheless, you should still give this one a sample at least, as your taste may differ from mine, and it may perform differently on your skin.

Perfect fragrance! It is very strong and worth every penny. It really needs time to dry out, so I usually apply an hour before I go out. This is absolute magic. It really gets noticed. I get told I smell good a lot when I wear this.
This is masculanity in a bottle. Don’t let the rose note scare you. This stuff smells like a manly man. All the ladies in my office really like it. Any more than one spray and it probably isn’t office safe. But if you rock it with confidence, it works.
Don’t be afraid to test this true Oud beast!

I fall in luv with this frag, it’s intoxicate, honey spice rose oud, I cant explain how this works so well in my skin. The note plum it’s unexpected, but amazin, I never try before. Everyone says Bond is overpriced, but the long/sillage are insane!

    WOW, you guys!!!
So, it’s cold and rainy here, and decided to give this “bug spray” another wear. . ..and am i glad i did!!
This stuff smells AMAZING in cold, rainy weather. What i previously mistook for “OFF! with deet” is a lovely, woody/rosey number. Still similar to Montale Black Aoud, but where Black Aoud is relentless and overbearing, this stuff is patient and calm.
This isn’t full-bottle material for me, but MAN I’m loving this aroma in this weather, so I’m gona buy a couple more bonbons and save em for a rainy day, literally.

I am a male in my early 30’s and I really like this scent. New York Oud, along with Creed Aventus, are my girlfriend’s favorite fragrances on me. Some people will not like New York Oud due to the monstrous potency and the polarizing nature of Bond No. 9 fragrances. Some people feel Bond No. 9 is overrated and/or overpriced, although I think that same argument could be made for a lot of niche brands. It really comes down to whether the house has offerings you can identify with. Bond has several fragrances that I love and New York Oud is definitely one of them.
I really enjoy wearing this at night and on the weekends. I would never wear it to work because it is so strong. This may actually be the strongest projecting fragrance I own.
I think it is best used in colder weather. (i.e. <50° F.) I definitely pick up more rose than oud in this fragrance, but there is a slight trace of oud. I also pick up the orange zest, plum, and traces of honey & musk. This is basically like Bond No. 9 Perfume (Signature) with a lot of rose and oud added.
I noticed some of the reviewers on Fragrantica think New York Oud is feminine. I would have to disagree. I think a man or woman could easily pull this off, but it is in no way overtly feminine. I’ve also read reviews where people said this has a strong bug spray smell when you first spray it. I do not get that at all. This reminds me of some Arab-inspired perfumes I have smelled, but it is certainly not medicinal or synthetic smelling like some Montale fragrances.
The two fragrances I’m reminded of are Montale’s Dark Purple and Black Aoud. It’s closer to the Black Aoud, although Black Aoud is even stronger and has the synthetic medicinal vibe I mentioned. If you want a Bond No. 9 that’s closer to a pure oud, go with Harrods Swarovski Limited Edition.
I would encourage anyone to try this fragrance. It is a good Western take on the oud-rose combo that is pretty common in perfumery.

I smell Rose more than Oudh in this.I wouldn’t recommend this, especially at this price.Maybe women like this.Somehow western perfume makers never get Oudh right. The best Oudh perfume from Bond No 9 is New York Musk.It has plenty of Oudh and no Musk.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

This one is a beast, I can’t beleive the sillage and longevity of it, definetly beats any other fragrance I had tried hands down, with that said though I can’t say I like it, the funny thing is I have always wondered how some people would complain about a fragrance being so strong and thought this should always be a positive attribute to any fragrance …. until I tried this one lol, it literaly gives me a headache, this is how insanly stroge this fragrance is.
And to add to that inconvenience I think it lean towards being a fiminine only fragrance, nowadays I mostly wear oudi fragrances and I even got original oud oil and I can say there is no oud in here at all.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Whoa, NELLY! Strong stuff here! Reminds me very much of Montale Black Aoud, but a slightly lesser rose feel. . .ever so slightly, at that.
I’m just gonna say, right off the bat when you apply this fragrance, to me it smells like “OFF! with deet”; nasty chemically bug-repellant spray. Can’t escape it! But within minutes, it starts to dissipate and become apparently what it’s supposed to be, and that’s a full-bodied, multi-layered oud fragrance. Finally, that nasty “OFF!”-scent does eventually go away.
Previously I’ve admitted that i am an “oud-n00b” so it could very well be that this fragrance is a proper oud, and I’m just not feeling it. It’s safe to say that, for me personally, I know that I do not like wearing ouds at this point.
I guess I’ll rate this 7/10, it’s super-duper potent and it IS lovely, just not my style in scents that I wear. But it’s great quality, this was the 1st time a Bond No. 9 has touched my skin and I can’t wait to try others.
*edit: I sprayed some on yesterday, slept for almost 9 hours and some 20 hours later, I can still smell the fragrance pretty well. I LOVE the residual left-behind aroma, it has a smell to it that reminds me of what my Dad smelled like as a kid.

This smells INCREDIBLE!! I thought I loved Viktor & Rolf Rose Explosion but this..THIS…is so much better! Deeper, sophisticated, and exotic! Smells very expensive. Conjures images of palace gardens paved with golden walkways and strewn with roses.
Roses sweetened with honey and deepened with notes of plum and oud make this perfume absolutely STUNNING!!
I have several rose/oud combinations and love each one but none come close to NY Oud. The rose and oud are masterfully blended to such perfection that there is no disorder to be found here. The effect is fluid and SMOOOOTH, captivating you and drawing you into its magical, sensual world of pure bliss.
You will NOT go unnoticed wearing this. But there is nothing loud or synthetic being projected. Only everyone around you will awaken with crystal clarity to an instantly improved mood and feeling of harmony in their world. So ENTICING and spellbinding!! This just might be the most socially compelling perfume I own!
The best rose/oud combination I’ve ever experienced, hands down, and
the best of ALL the Bonds by far. What more can I say? Pure GENIUS!
A must have for all rose and oud lovers!!

The whole project behind New York Oud was to create an oud-rose that was new, fresh, cosmopolitan, and urban. It was launched on Valentine’s Day of 2011.
For the notes, on the top there’s red plum, saffron orange zest. In the middle, there is oud, a red rose bouquet, orris, and patchouli. In the base, there’s musk, honey, and an earthy vetiver.
I’m fully aware that the rose and oud combination isn’t exactly the most original in the world, but I haven’t smelled that many of them, and this one is beautiful. While I can certainly pick up on the oud, I think this is much less about the oud than it is the lush, grand, solitary rose. It almost comes off as a soliflore once the patchouli and the oud die away. In fact, after several minutes the oud is so subdued that it might as well have been any other wood – sandalwood, cedar, or anything else. When I think of oud, I think of the skanky, animalic aspect of oud, and that just wasn’t there – and I sort of missed it. As it dies on my skin, it’s a soft tea-like rose mixed with a wood much less pungent than oud – perhaps teakwood?
Warning: This PROJECTS – even for a niche perfume. A couple of sprays, and people will know you’re in the room (without making them gag, I hope). I usually don’t make recommendations like this, but simply because of its strength and sillage, I would say that this wouldn’t make a good work fragrance simply because of the number of people that you could end up offending. Rose itself is an acquired taste, even for perfumistas, but the rose-and-oud combination might really push someone’s buttons.
It looks like New York retails for around $330 for 100 ml, but on Fragrancenet you can buy it for about half that. At that price, it’s certainly bottle-worthy. If you need a well-behaved but confident, assertive rose in your collection, you should get your nose on a sample of this and see what you think.

At this stage I am not massively aware of the bond no 9 fragrance range. Part of the issue with getting into their range is just the number of fragrances available. This one I sampled in store and fell in love with to the point that I was determined to get a bottle of it. There is a plum note that is not found in many other oud fragrances which I liked. Even now I am still considering getting a bottle.
After sampling this I realised that it can be recreated quite easily by combining Arabian Oud’s “Woody” fragrance with Forest Essentials “Oudh and Green Tea” body mist. I feel that mixing these two creates something very similar to bond no 9. In terms of the price I feel that this creation is slightly overpriced at £285 for 100ml. It smells amazing but I feel that it can be recreated for considerably less.

I got this as a sample and really liked it. While it got me a ton of compliments, I found it a bit strong and more for nighttime and going out on the town kinda scent. Heavy but a quality, well crafted good fragrance. Anyway, I put it way for awhile then I applied it recently. I thought I was going crazy but when I first put it on, an image of my mom wearing Estee Lauder Knowing in the 80s slapped me in the face. Was I having a stroke? Was I having a deluision? I look up the notes on here and low and behold Bond NY Oud and Knowing share SIX of the same notes (orris root, plum, musk, vetiver, rose and patchouli.) I relieved I was not going crazy, but simply born with a good nose.
So overall, Bond NY Oud is kind of a throw back to the powerhouse 80’s perfumes. Bold and long lasting, its a good one. The oud is smoky and the real star here, and its rich enough in the dry down that a guy can easily pull this off. Only thing for me that prevents me from investing in a bottle (its pricy), is its a really dressed up and elegant kind of smell, not for everyday or for the office. But if you’re in the market for a good powerful classy rich fragrance, look no further, it’s Bond NY Oud, hands down.

This fragrance is pretty amazing. I’ve never really smelled anything like it prior to buying a bottle. I don’t have any experience with the Montale stuff that it has been compared to.
It is overpowering and extremely long lasting (like 12+ hours). My wife enjoys when I wear it, but says I fill the room after 2-3 sprays. This projection lasts for quite a while. You have been warned.
Juicy plum, rose with the occasional brief appearance of sharp oud, and an excellent patchouli dry down, in that order. To me the initial spray is reminiscent of windex glass cleaner, but disappears almost immediately.
It sounds completely odd as I describe it, yet I think it is top of the line stuff. Probably too much for the office. Really though, it’s become a favorite of mine.

The notes/ingredients are interesting! It’s not a bland attempt to replicate a product for Middle Easterners! For me, it’s an undisguisedly bespoke, Americanized interpretation of oud cologne geared towards both sexes. Another curious blind buy I wouldn’t mind engaging in (even tho’ Bond No. 9 is owned by a lady: Ms. Laurice Rahmé and may be “effusive” in creating unabashedly masculine colognes)! I’m just wondering if the longevity, projection and sillage will be above par.

a combination of rose and honey and maybe a little wood…good scent pleasant not to overwhelming…I would wear this one. good for casual wear like most bond no 9 fragrances

I was given this fragrance as a gift which is the only way I would have given this fragrance a chance. My initial thoughts were that this is not my cup of tea.
But I tried it and I found it overwhelming to my senses at first but as the day went on I fell in love with it. The dry down is so warm and sensual and the staying power is amazing. The icing on the cake is that I received so many nice compliments wearing it. A new favorite.

My signature scent. Incredible from start to finish. It announces itself instantly boldly proclaiming “I’m here and take notice”.

I’m a big fan of the Bond No. 9 fragrances I’ve sampled, but I just can’t find any love for this one. There’s something off about, reminiscent of rotting daisies. My wife likes it, but admits there’s a bit of old lady to it — not sure if she means that it smells like an old lady or that it smells like something an old lady would wear. Either way, not for me and not for her (yet!).

Let me sharpen my sarcasm pencil before I write…
Thank *GOD* someone finally figured out that rose and oud smell good together. I had been hoping for so long that someone would make a perfume like that.
    End sarcasm.
I could, of course, put that introduction at the beginning of literally dozens of perfumes. I chose this one because although I generally like Bond No. 9 perfumes, my sample of this struck me as just another rose and oud perfume. Yes, the saffron gives it some spice, and the plum and patchouli are detectable. It even smells great. But what it doesn’t do is smell great compared to all the other rose and oud perfumes
