Description
“While the king was on his couch, my nard gave forth its fragrance.” (Song of Songs, 1:12). “Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates With choice fruits, henna with nard plants, Nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, With all the trees of frankincense, Myrrh and aloes, along with all the finest spices.” (Song of Songs, 4:13-14). “Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.” (John 12:3; Mark 14:3; Luke 7:37-38; Matthew 26:7).
The nard roots, which is found underground, can be infused into an essential oil. The subtlety of its aroma, which is born bitter and becomes sweet and subtle, leads us into the memory of the breath and makes us enter in an “intimate and sacred” space, where it is possible to get in touch and rebalance one’s perceptions and emotions with peace and serenity. Mentioned several times in the Bible, the nard was used to wash the feet of Jesus. Coming from the Himalayas, it was one of the most precious oils of the time. The nard flower symbolizes Saint Joseph, patron of the Universal Church and it appears on Pope Francis’s coat of arms.
Characteristics: amber-like, intensely aromatic and very dense.” – a note from the brand.
