I really love this one. I am careful with florals because my nose is very sensitive. But the simplicity of this scent is perfect for me. I really don’t get the pear personally, but that combination of sweet light floral and cashmere wood is so nice. I wear this alone but find it very good for layering since it isn’t very fussy a fragrance. I have been wearing this in Spring and Summer and I think that is really the best time for it. However, I love to layer it with My Philosophy Compassionate (which is a PERFECT vanilla scent) to make it really nice for Fall or winter. I have been lucky enough to try all the scents in this “my philosophy” line and I would have to say that Giving is my second favorite in the bunch. (second only to Compassionate.) I would recommend this if you enjoy florals but have some sensitivity to them.
EDIT: I take that back…I DO get a bit of pear actually.

On my skin, Giving opens with lovely, crisp Apple. I’m reminded of Delicious DKNY. Tart, sweet, fresh and fruity.
Within 15 min I get powdery musk with a hint of vanilla. I’m a huge fan of heliotrope scents. I enjoyed Giving.
The scent has only two phases on my skin and dissipates within a few hours. First fruity, then sweetened woody vanilla musk. Casual, kind and feminine without being offensive.
I cannot say I will purchase Giving, but I will totally exploit every last spritz the tiny vial offers. This is great for work and shopping. I’m glad I tried this because I was not familiar with Philosophy brand. I can sense they aspire to provide quality to their customers. I can also sense they try to appeal to the widest possible mass of potential customers.
Giving won’t turn any heads nor garner you any special attention. But it’s pretty enough for when you need to summon a bit of feminine dignity to your daily grind.
Lasts about 4-6 hours.
Lingers just around the body in a nice halo. Does not transfer from wearer onto environment/clothing.

Surprisingly one of my most favorite musks. Not too animalic, just clean and fresh. No heliotrope or pear detected whatsoever.
