I couldn’t decipher the notes besides the musk because this perfume smells exactly like my dad, and I don’t really want to smell like my dad. But the staying power is something special; I sprayed barely half a spray on my wrist, washed it off with soap and rubbing alcohol, and kept catching whiffs of it for the next 10 hours. I tested the bottle with the orange cap; several reviews here mention that it’s the more “vintage” version of the fragrance.

This is the scent I always go back to, my “signature”. My kids tell me I must have worn musk when they were babies as they associate it with me. I like the OIL, NOT the spray! Two totally different creatures!
I remember my mom having a vial of this when I was a preteen and trying some on. Instant LOVE!
As an adult, I have purchased this off and on, and would wear it to work. I would always get compliments when someone was up close…”You smell good!”. It’s not heavy and that’s what I like: it stays close but lasts a long time. I can still smell it on my wrist the next morning after putting it on the evening before.
I recall a friend of mine saying once that this oil makes her feel “like an Egyptian queen, like Cleopatra”. Indeed, it may be inexpensive, but I use the analogy of being at a party with everyone else sipping champagne, and I am drinking homemade blackberry wine…and the others are all secretly envious 😉

The scent starts out very strongly musky, almost dirty and animalic. Give it an hour and it transforms into a lovely, warm skin scent with even some flowery freshness. This scent its very familiar and you will recognize it for sure once you apply it. It reminds me of hot summer days, my childhood and a dear friend that passed away, she would wear this everyday. I will wear this solo or for blending.
Its a perfect purchase, inexpensive and that can be the perfect add up to some scents you might have that need a little warmth.

My only advice is if you wear this, wear the oil version. The spray is 80% alcohol and doesn’t do much. At least the oil is musky. If you like powdery, sweet and musky get the oil. If it’s not your thing stay away. Lol.

Honestly? This is a dupe for the classic Chanel no. 5. Aldehydic, powdery, and soft. It starts out more animalic and quite dated, but the dry down is so clean and nice. Smells like a great soap. Less buttery and beautiful than Chanel, but for the price the difference is negligible.
EDIT: Forgot to mention this review is for the oil. On another note, pretty sure the only glaring difference between no. 5 and Musk (outside of overall quality) is the lack of ylang ylang.
EDIT EDIT: Doesn’t smell like Chanel No 5. to me anymore. I mean! They’re similarly vintage and soap-y, but Musk is very masculine to me now. Chanel No. 5 is Kore, Musk is Kouros (the Greek statues, not the fragrance).

This fragrance is instantly transporting for me— in a great way. I grew up in the 1970s and ‘80s and good ol’ Jovan Musk (for both men & women) was The Great Equalizer of the fragrance world. It was subtle & unique, drugstore-cheap, accessible, and smelled good on nearly everyone. It was a refreshing olfactory break— since most fragrances of that era were quite powerful.
I remember my stepmom having a bottle of both the spray cologne and the oil, and I would sneak some when she wasn’t looking because I just loved the gentle, soapy softness of it. It did— and does— smell a lot like Johnson’s original baby shampoo but that’s not a negative in my book!
The Jovan Musk of today is weaker and lacks some of the animalic wafting heat of the vintage, but It’s about 90 percent true to my memory, so I’m content. If you can find the eau de parfum online (I believe it’s only sold at brick-and-mortar stores in Europe), get that. Otherwise, try layering the oil & the cologne spray. You don’t need to worry about overdoing it with this one. It is timeless, delicate, and wearable for any occasion and just smells naturally clean and sexy!

Thanks to the reviews here I purchased Jovan Musk oil 10ml from Walmart in US. I am so glad I did it!
It has a warm, comforting smell of the musk I remember from 90s.
I’ve tried it on couple of times, and it is a nice relaxing scent for the bedtime (tested late spring to summer)
The other day, I went to the gym and I already had the Design EDT on (I sprayed it in am) so I applied Jovan Musk oil on my wrists and elbow area as an add-on.
Once I start “perspiring” in the gym, the smell was very potent and silage increased. I thought I was producing the musk myself! 🙂 And I loved it!!!
So I do recommend, like many others, to go for the oil version, but I can’t guarantee it will smell good on everyone.
Can’t wait to try it in the winter and see what the cool temperature will do to it

I was recently gifted a 10 ml bottle of the “Touch Stick” oil… lucky me!
The opening florals are not too sharp, bright or overbearing, just soft and pretty. They relax into a warm, clean musk, a Your Skin But Better scent. There are no sharp edges that you sometimes find in “classic” musks. In fact, I don’t think this version of Jovan Musk smells dated at all.
I’ve used this as my work scent for the last few months. Just 4 drops total gives a subtle effect all day. It’s been one of my most complimented, and people usually say, “you smell really nice” rather than “that’s a nice Perfume.”

Lovely clean little musk! I purchased the oil daubber one. Will be useful for layering too!

    Gold capped concentrate version:
Someone mentioned Johnson’s baby shampoo. That’s exactly how this smells like on me. It’s frustrating because for a few glorious seconds I got the most beautiful warm spicy musk.

The modern formula is nothing. It is faintly like the original from far away but if you sniff your arm, it is citrus. It also lasts worth a damn and doesn’t project. My mom wore this for many many years. It was her signature. It was a musk bomb and so very strong!

  12. :

The cologne spray is a thumbs down for me. All I smell is strong alcohol. However the oil stick is a huge hit for me. Looooove it

I like this perfume only in a sentimental way. My grandmother wore this fairly often, and whenever I smell a strong musk I immediately think of her. Otherwise, it is not for me.

It`s a cheapie, and I must say I love it despite the drugstore quality..I just snatched it as a bargain off ebay and sprayed on – it seems to work rather well with my skin chemistry, musk and neroli stand out mainly, the bergamot kicks off but fades to the background after 10 mins or so, and I can`t detect any jasmine, or else it`s mixing in with the neroli? Defo has a vintage vibe – someone from my family has defo been wearing it during the 90s, it`s so familiar and such a `Mum` scent..or maybe it`s just the muskiness that makes me think so, a throwback to childhood as a lot of others before me have mentioned. Then again, a lot of vintage perfs are musky, the question is how much or how much you like the fact that it is..
This one is definitely not heavy or cloying, simple, generic, powdery, even soapy, close to skin musk that is great on its own or I`d say even for layering, and for the price the lasting power is just about acceptable – don`t expect too much though, you`ll have to respray at least 2x more a day..I`m into anything musky now and even if they don`t have the greatest sillage and longevity I think it`s a good thing to have it in your collection.
And if you want to experience an 80s-90s throwback musk, this is exactly where you should start.

I’ve loved this the split second I smelled it. Prada Infusion d’Iris also. TWO scents I could wear the rest of my life and never tire of. Always perfection to me…no matter what.
I read reviews and got tipped off to the orange cap bottle. I’d given up ever having the joy of yesteryear. That UGLY ol’ orange cap has saved my LOVE! I would have thought that the least possible likeness of the 70’s. I didn’t own it. How can a cologne CONCENTRATE be less that the plain old cologne? But for me, tis true! It’s the very best!
It doesn’t seem to last quite as long the 70’s version (but then I can’t remember THAT well) but it smells identical. And as long as it’s cheap, I can spray till the cows come home and be so forever grateful for this tip, opinion, preference, and whoever wrote it!
I think I’ll use the oil I have to put on my skin before the spray, and probably only buy the orange cap…UGLY orange cap bottle from now on! Oh how I love that ugly orange cap!

Jovan Musk is one of those fragrances that smell better from afar. Dont be tempted to bury your face in it..but appreciate it as a whole. It grows on you. A tarty bergamot opens with a strong neroli and jasmine keep this fresh but warm. A musk note emerges and it blends great with Vanilla Musk

  17. :

    5 out of 5

I layer the cologne spray (not the cologne concentrate, it is a less pleasing version, in my opinion) with the oil. Both are well-crafted scents that can be easily found for less than $12 each, which is one of the great things about many Jovan and Coty fragrances.
It lasts for a work day, and it is fuzzy, powdery, slightly sweet musk with a citrus kick and a light floral halo. I never got to experience the seventies, but I have a strange fascination with that decade, and this fragrance seems to epitomize that era. It has an earthy, effortless sexiness that is welcoming rather than beckoning.
    Easy like Sunday morning.

For some reason I can tolerate the female version but not the men’s. I don’t really wear musks myself but a neighbor wears this, has worn it for years, and its kind of a comforting. Something fortune cookie/ vanilla almond cookie? Not floral to my nose. This at least doesn’t give me a headache like Jovan White Musk. The perfume oil is the best and sweetest rather than the spray.

A blast from the past! I wore this fragrance when I was a teenager and haven’t smelled it in a long time. I decided to buy some and actually bought two bottles because I didn’t know what the difference might be. I purchased the gold capped bottle as shown above and an orange square capped bottle.
The two smell somewhat different, but I can’t quite pinpoint what it is. They are both light, fresh skin scents that you can apply liberally.
This is a classic bargain fragrance that I am happy to revisit. A must try for anyone who likes flowery musks!

  20. :

My favourite bargain buy! So so cheap. It’s a fun retro scent that’s easy to wear in any season.

  21. :

I sampled the glass bottle with the plastic orange cap. I didn’t smell lime at all! It smells exactly like Johnson’s Baby shampoo ( yellow ) which I liked. good lasting power too.

  22. :

Elnette hairspray from the nineties. Literally the same smell. Hence I cannot count this as perfume, it’s just a nostalgic smell from my teenage years. Cannot say it smells expensive or sophisticated because of this.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

Not a good scent. It is fresh, but smells mostly of alcohol. Projection and longevity are terrible. Literally, even if you overapply it, it’s gone in seconds. Just bad quality.

Is the cologne spray in a rectangular bottle with orange cap different in scent to that in the cylinder one pictured?

  25. :

    4 out of 5

I am a fiend for musk and Jovan musk is the perfect wrist crack for a musk addict lol
It’s cheap, it’s incredible , neither too floral nor too skanky. It has great silage and longevity. Did I mention It’s dirt cheap? There is a reason why this scent has been around so long. It compares with any musk that has a triple digit price tag attached ( believe me, I’ve tried more then a few)
I agree with everything said by emt1986 below me. Jovan is an amazing drugstore cheapie house.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

I just picked up the regular cologne spray (in the rectangular bottle with the orange cap) at a drug store, and I am really satisfied! It’s really just musk with a few animalic notes and a little citrus … but overall it wears as a clean musk. It’s very nice and it’s exactly what I was looking for. A well done no frills musk.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

God, this is good shit. Jovan is one of my favorite houses, right up there with Dior and Serge Lutens. Their compositions are simple but so, so well-executed, and those prices?? Don’t get me started. Jovan makes perfect picks for when you don’t give a damn about impressing anyone and just want to smell GOOD. That said, I have no idea why I waited so long to try the OG. This is a clean skin musk without being too soapy… warm, slightly sweet, carnal, with some zing from the neroli. Honestly, it really is a “just right” musk. Get the rectangular bottle with the orange square cap that is sold without a box.

I don’t find Fragrantica carrying reviews for the separate Jovan Musk COLOGNE Spray for Women. I’m referring to the orange capped bottle. It also is a few dollars less than the Concentrated Cologne (gold capped, above).
These are two, completely different smelling formulas, and I much prefer the orange capped one. It’s a subtly dry blend of cedarwood, Arabian musk and a slight hint of flowers. It’s a pleasure to wear when you don’t want to smell sweet.

I was 17 and in love with this scent. Sprayed myself all over. Soft and I guess aldehyde-ic? Definitely a classic.

I PURCHASED IT BECAUSE I USED TO WEAR and appreciate SOFT MUSK FROM AVON AND THERE was NO LONGER IN SELL. I TOLD MYSELF IF AVON IS SO GOOD THEN THIS ONE WILL BE BETTER. ONCE SPRAYED ON? OH MY GOD? WHAT IS IT? VERY AGRESSIVE VERY PRESENT, HARSH, SOLY NOTE, VERY MANLY? AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY. I WAS DRAWING A VERY RUDE AND AGRESSIVE MAN IN MY MIND, really not for gentlemen, it smells very cheap, i ran up to the water to clean off this dirty scent, really not for my taste, and i am a woman, good luck

Sampled this old favorite again. I no longer wear it.
I can still imagine myself wearing this when I was younger. Bolder, more outgoing, sexy-ish…..lol. A daywear frag, imho.
However, I am eyeing the Jovan White Musk 😉
Today, it strikes me as a very masculine scent, especially with the lime background. For some reason I find no floral notes. Just musk and lime bg.
It still has a worthy staying quality and sillage, still a lovely scent.
If it’s musk you crave, this is for you.

I bought this today after previously buying (and LOVING) the men’s Jovan Musk. It reminds me of the squash courts my parents would drag me to as a child in the 80s! I’m certain the adults there must have drenched themselves in Jovan, strenthening my suspicions that squash competitions were really pick-up events 🙂
The fragrance itself is very floral, I really don’t get much musk at all – it is very sweet though and beautiful for warm weather. I could happily wear this to the gym or yoga class, as the projection is soft but so pleasant. If you’re after something “sensual”, the men’s cologne is far superior.
Edit: there is a distinct hairspray note at first spray – this has a “sticky” effect

  35. :

    4 out of 5

I bought a tester of this online, expecting it to be akin to a slightly more masculine version of Jovan White Musk – less floral, kind of like the Musk deodorant by Speed Stick from many years ago. It ended up smelling like someone bottled a concoction of musk and pancake syrup. Very heavy, syrupy sweet, and overwhelming – I’ll stick with Jovan and TBS White Musk.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

Not my taste, this and Jovans White Musk are too heavy and cloying. I think Vanilla Musk and Wild Musk are more pleasant and less up in your face. I also get a distinct hairspray aspect, idk what note that could be.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

I got the Musk Oil version of this perfume. When I wore it, it started out smelling like baby cologne. Citrus with very light florals. Since it’s an oil, the scent developed quite slowly. After an hour of this baby cologne phase, a slight powdery note emerged. So, it smelled kinda like baby powder. Or a powdered and cologne-d baby. The soapy-clean musk note reminiscent of washed *adult* skin finally revealed itself after two hours of wearing. This was when I enjoyed the fragrance the most.
This doesn’t strike me as the sexy, carnal fragrance that will unleash your “own natural powers of seduction” promised by the advertising on the box. Granted that I got baby cologne + powder + washed skin, I’d say this is a friendly, inviting, and endearing perfume. I guess that, in its own way, can be seductive.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

I don’t like this perfume at all, and only because of one thing, it’s so damn heavy. I wore it a couple of times and I was asked by my boss to not wear the perfume anymore to work because it gave a headaches to my coworker’s, it’s so heavy and people can smell it from a km of distance.

  39. :

    3 out of 5

I used to wear this a lot in the mid-to-late 80’s, and loved it. It seems a bit weaker than I remember though – the version I had seemed a bit heavier on the musk and the staying power seemed to be better as well. It’s one of those scents that you think has disappeared, but seems to bloom whenever your body warms up a bit – I’ll feel like it’s gone, then go outside in the sun for a bit, and the scent drifts up. This is a very soft, floral musk, pretty and clean-smelling. I remember this being marketed as a totally sexy scent, which amused me – it never struck me as being particularly sexy then, it was just a lovely soft musky scent. This is a great one for layering – I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with this. It works with spicy (Tabu), cypre floral (Aromatics Elixir) and oriental vanilla (Serendipitous, Vanille and Love, Hope, Denim).

This feels like an amber-musky perfume to me. Maybe a bit (white) flowery too. It is warm and cosy, as already said. Suitable for any weather or occasion, but not for very young girls in my opinion. Though It doesn’t last long, I wouldn’t overspray with this one. Better spray lightly every three hours or so. The more I wear it, the better I like it!

Musk Jovan for Women might be a cheapy, but I absolutely love it! Without a doubt one of my favorite true musk scents!

I must echo the review from Goldiloks, I sprayed this on and I got hairspray, and then 5 minutes later – gone! Vamoose! AWOL! As Snagglepus would say – “exit, stage left even!” The hairspray smell was rather lovely, it made me think of my mum.
Perhaps I belong to the 50% of the population that is anosmic to it? Oh well, I will find a good home for it.

  45. :

I wore this for years when I was younger as it was the most affordable option and knew so little of fragrances and notes at the time to even shop around for what I really liked as my own personal preference and/or style. Even though I have many perfumes with hints or more of musk in them, I’m really not a fan of this one at all. It is straight up musk with a strong synthetic “cheap” feel (I’m not a name brand snob and have MANY $5 body mists that I rank very highly and absolutely adore) so that’s not it.
There simply is no depth or complexity to Jovan Musk, it isn’t sexy or even pretty to me…a cheap synthetic strong musk is what you pay for with it in my opinion and that’s it, nothing more, nothing less.

I’ve purchased a bottle of the Musk Oil EDT. It goes on with the smell of hairspray, and a slight musky aroma that reminds me of Kiehl’s Musk Oil…. And after 5 mins….nothing. It’s really weird, I’ve never experienced a fragrance disappearing so quickly. What a shame 🙁

  48. :

The best freshly showered, soapy, your-skin-but-better scent out there, for my money. Heavenly.

  49. :

I generally like musks when in combination with other scents, but in this combination, it smells like a strong sweet baby powder. It smells like what a baby would smell like. I generally prefer scents with a bit more depth and spicy and warmer notes in it.
    Sillage – moderate / longevity – 6 hours
    4/10

  50. :

I love musks in general, but this is my favourite musk, and one of my overall favourite perfumes.
It is incredibly sexy, without being heavy or overbearing.
It is really hard to believe how inexpensive this is, considering how amazing the scent is, just beautiful.

  51. :

    3 out of 5

I usually have a few different musks and I have in the past owned this one and was slinking around the drug store and found one single oil version on the bottom shelf and thought what the hay. And it’s just what I remember and its love. It lasts all day on me and the sillage is very good, my hubby keeps sniffing me lol. It smells soapy and clean with a little musk ummf to it, but not to dirty or pissy at least on me its not. I have smelled this on others and just smelled something like dirt or mold with flowers. But on me its wonderful, and I’ll have fun layering this one with other scents.
Jovan in my opinion is a good scent for really anytime its not a filthy musk and is safe, good for someone just delving into musks.

  52. :

I have Jovan Musk in body spray and oil.
Body spray = soft musk with a slight soapy/floral overtone. Lasts about an hour.
Oil = almost equal musk to floral composition that is rich, creamy, and a little sweet. Lasts about 3-4 hours.
Either blends well with other fragrances and the oil Helps them last a bit longer.
    A new favorite!
Update: my review was during cooler weather. It is getting hotter outside. The florals get overpowered by the musk in the heat. I’ll save this for late Fall.

  53. :

    5 out of 5

Why isn’t this the potent musk you remember? Two words: Nitro Musk! Banned in the US since 1979 they were in most if not all of the old musk oils. Contrary to what some believe “real” musk hasn’t been used in most mainstream fragrance for almost 100 years!
Nitro-musks were once used extensively in perfumery and are now largely prohibited in many countries because they can’t be fully cleaned out by sewage treatment plants and accumulate in fish and such. The kicker is that there is no conclusive proof that they’re actually harmful.
Polycyclic musks are mostly used in fragrance and londry products these days. They far inferior in strength, longevity and odor to the nitro musks.
Macrocyclic musks are also not a good replacement for nitro musks. Although they closely resemble the true scent of real deer (Tonkin) musk, half the human population are anosmic to it. That means there is 50% chance you can’t smell it! EVER! So fragrance companies use several musk chemicals in the hopes that you’ll smell atleast one! So now you know why fragrance can smell so much different between people.
Alicyclic musks I don’t know too much about, their sort of new but from what I’ve heard they are also no match for nitro musks.

A really potent soapy musk. More soap than musk. Too bad the smell isn’t appealing because the performance for the price is REALLY GOOD.
Men’s version on the other arm. Very similar. Too similar actually but performance was way lower than women’s version.
    Tested today at Walmart.

25 years ago Coty Vanilla Musk and Wild Musk oil were my favourite day fragrances. I moved on to long time favourites, the original Miss Dior, and Chanel No 5. My financial position now means I can no longer afford these two. Rummaging through my perfume drawer I discovered an unused long forgotten 96ml bottle of Jovan Musk. Wow, I had forgotten how good this chemist fragrance (Australian for drugstore!) smelled. There is still something strangely bitter in the opening spray, alcohol maybe, but the dry down is worth it. I recently purchased for a song on ebay, the 9.7ml oil with the wand applicator. I apply the oil on top of the spray which softens, but also deepens the floral musk fragrance and increases the longevity to around 8 hours on me. In love with this all over again. Not a skanky musk, but a warm, elegant musk. Miss Dior and Chanel No 5 seem to be the only 2 fragrances that don’t trigger my asthma, and I can now add Jovan Musk to that small list. Love, love it!

This is what my mother wore, for as long as I was alive this is the only fragrance that she wore, nothing else would do! It smelled so good on her, she was one of the only people I could smell this on and it’d smell amazing. This fragrance holds a bittersweet, somewhat painful note for me, since my mom passed away at the very young age of 54 this past April. I miss her so, so much, so whenever I want to be close to her, I always grab this bottle that my dad gave me, spray on my pillow and just enjoy. I miss you, Mama, so very much!! :'(

Soft and dreamy musk. Just gorgeous and will always be a love. It was what my Nani wore before she passed. I miss her with all my heart and this brings back wonderful memories. I will never be without a bottle of this. <3
P.S. The orange square cap smells exactly as I remember. There was something off about the orange round cap. I haven’t tried the gold cap.

This is lovely, but a bit too cloying in the heat. I used to wear this very liberally until some relatives told me that I smelled like floor cleanser and car freshener. Since then I only wear this when it´s cold outside and after spraying it very lightly. It´s good for layering it with some attars. Not one fragance for hot climates I think.

    Update:
This oil has been growing on me all day and now I can’t stop applying more and more. Although I still want a skankier musk for my collection, I enjoy this one on it’s own merits. It’s soft and comfortable and in one day this is fast turning into love.
    I have a funny anecdote!
Today I took my son and dog to the beach. (Lake Superior is 2 blocks away) Anyway we were looking at beach rocks and picking raspberry’s when a whole company of wild minks came wrestling up to us in broad daylight. They were just few feet from us looking and sniffing! My son was mesmerized and the dog went nuts but they didn’t seem to care. They were young.
When they moved on I said to myself in joking “It must be my animal musk”.

I bought what I thought was an older bottle.
All the old ads sold big SEX! but all I smell is “baby shampoo” like Swamp Lily said. I was going to say baby wipes from the 80’s and 90’s but shampoo works too. They all had the same soft white musk type in them.
Now it’s true I didn’t think I would get Arnold Schwarzenegger’s underpants but I certainly didn’t expect my baby brother’s backside!
It’s nostalgic in the sense that it brought back memories of a sweet natured little baby of some 26 years ago but the furthest thing from what I was thinking it would be!
It does dry down to clean skin but it’s so slight and not the skankfest I was hoping for.
Can anyone direct me to a truly smutty 70’s animolic musk oil? I want sex in a bottle!
I’ll be keeping this because I think it will be nice for layering.

This is a beautiful scent but far from being sexy it smells like baby shampoo. It’s lovely to use after an evening shower before snuggling up in a cosy bed .. to sleep. 🙂

I went into a dollar store looking for cheap napkins and plates for a picnic, and walked out with this. My bottle is 2.5oz clear, slightly oval shaped with a gold cap. It says natural spray instead of cologne.
Ah, where do I start? It has that skin/musk smell without any sharp citrus or jasmine notes to overwhelm it. I honestly cannot stop sniffing my wrist. Clean, sexy, yet inoffensive enough to wear most places. It is better than any musk I have used, including my favorite Avon Night Magic. Night Magic has a “cold” element to it, that I can’t name. Cold cream scent is the best way I can describe it. Not quite as “heavy” as Coty Wild Musk.
This Jovan has none of that. Warm, soft, and elegant. That’s what she is. And I cannot believe I spent only $5 USD for this. It suits me better than any of the expensive stuff I have. I may have to stock up.

I am looking into musks at the moment and I bought a bottle of this as a time to reminisce and it smells nice…..but as soon as I spray it on…. disappears, literally. So sad!!

I’m so grateful for this scent! It’s my husband’s fave on me, so I like to blend it with the fruity and floral fragrances I have just to tone them down. My fave combo is this musk and Channel Chance eau Tendre, which my husband cannot stand by itself!

This is the very first perfume I ever owned, when I was about 12 or 13. That was ages ago. I no longer wear it, and have not smelled it for years, but I remember really liking it as a teenager — it was my signature scent for about 4 or 5 years. I’d love to have a sniff today and see what delightful memories it brings back because as we perfume lovers know, nothing brings back memories like scent…

After first spritz all I get is alchocol and then it takes some time untill it gets to a musky scent and then it’s gone. Not a good fragrance on my skin as it’s gone in less than an hour so there’s not a lot to tell about it except that I won’t be repurchasing it again.

Today I received a mini sample of this and my review is about the eau de cologne. No offence to all of Jovan Musk lovers, but I can smell only alcohol. On my clothes I can bearly smell it and on my skin it’s even worse – after 5 mins. it turns into a cough syrup 🙁 Not my cup of tea, it was gonna be a waste of money.

As many, I guess, I also have a bottle of this. I didn’t really payed much attention to it in the past but that changed as soon as I received my christmas gift of my boyfriend – a perfume cabinet he build himself that looks like a Chanel No. 5 bottle. With the label and all 🙂
So, when I started to sort my perfumes to put them in there this bottle fell into my hands. Even on it’s own its quite an interesting scent: musky, earthy with a little bit of citrus. But, as Ksl001 below also suggested, this is also perfect for layering. I’m wearing it with Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker today and quite like what I smell. It lends a bit more oomph to Lovely, which to me has become a little “thin” lately. Could work perfectly as a base to increase your nighttime scent, too!

(spray concentrate) Strong, memory-recall inducing stuff. This is like inhaling deeply in an Indian temple. Jasmine, incense and wood spices. I see where the sixties, hippy references are coming from. A mature, full bodied scent to use lightly. Could be interesting to layer with simple florals or soliflores to create something more personal and modern.

I recently went on a musk bender trying to find the one my mother wore when I was growing up. She couldn’t remember what it was. During the process, I discovered this little gem and can’t believe how much I like it. I prefer the oil to the spray hands down. But I usually use them both together. It’s not too heavy, and I think it’s pretty nonoffensive. It’s suitable for anytime, anywhere in my opinion. It’s a nice bright, light musk without being overtly sexy. It’s attractive. In the end, we figured it was Coty’s wild Musk oil my mother wore, and it is discontinued. Not wanting that to happen to me I currently have three bottles of the oil on hand. Never want to be without it. It’s a staple!
