Description

Juliette Has A Gun launches Moscow Mule, the new fragrance dedicated to the city of Moscow. It is inspired by and made of notes that recreate the legendary Moscow Mule cocktail of Russian vodka, ginger beer and lime juice.

Described with epithets like intoxicating, dangerous and unforgettable, Moscow Mule fragrance is to depict the fragrant character of Russian Juliet. The composition is made of fresh bergamot and ginger accords together with the Firmenich molecule  Norlimbanol®. The molecule is described a powerful and dry woody one that goes in the patchouli direction with animal amber undertones.

Juliette Has A Gun Moscow Mule is available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Moscow Mule was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Romano Ricci.

I got a generous sample of JHaG Moscow Mule from Sephora. I wish more samples were this nice, large and with glass instead of plastic. . Unfortunately, there has never been a Juliette Has a Gun Fragrance I could stand. Still, I continue to try, and this was close, but not close enough. It doesn’t smell like Light Blue to me, or Twilly or even a Moscow Mule cocktail.
To me, it smells exactly like a fake Christmas tree scent: a Yankee Pine Christmas Candle, or a pinetree car freshener. From first spray to dry down, that’s all I smell. I suppose I can spray this around the room during the holidays, but on my skin, it’s not a perfume, just a holiday air freshener.
Oh well. At least I don’t hate it so the company may eventually get me on board.

I can barely smell anything else because of the overpowering Norlimbanol. Once you recognise it in a perfume, it’s terribly difficult to ignore. There also appears to be a dose of Iso E Super as well.
It’s a no from me – too synthetic.

I never would’ve thought this frag, given the notes, would have a powdery dry-down. But on my skin, it does. Not’s not a cloying powder, though, I’ll admit that – it’s probably just that the ginger is softer than I expected.
This certainly opens like a cocktail, though. The lime didn’t come through until several minutes had passed, like 20. It was ginger vodka in the beginning.
Strange frag, if I’m being honest. But I’m also surprised at how it’s growing on me.
Edit: forgot to add that this actually reminds me, on the dry-down, of Twilly by Hermes. Except I like this much better.
Second Edit: holy crap, the musk has kicked in. I repeat, the musk has kicked in. No musk for me, nuh-uh, it’s making me nauseous.
Third Edit: I gave my sample to my mom, who really enjoys it. She carries musk far, far better than I do. On her, the stuff has heavy sillage – she was standing at the other end of the kitchen and I could smell it!

That’s a very nice ginger creating a rough scent. Definitely feels like a big city mule 🙂
    Overall, truly great perfume!

This smells like ginger beer, lime, and woods.

100 percent agree with adrienn99 and Shanel2448 reviews below.
Also I owned Light Blue since its launch and switched it to light blue intense, and Moscow mule does not smell like them at all !
    Buyers beware !
Do not blind buy, test it and let it linger for 2h (if it’s not completely all gone by then on your skin)

mouthwatering opening, like a fresh cocktail indeed. drydown very different and slightly synthetic woods (guess those quirky molecules). If for the opening, would be buying but the drydown is rather strange to me.
I don’t think it is similar to Light Blue.

Musky base and citrusy top, very pleasant, light and lasting, does not smell like a light blue at all. Name is funny, I never heard of this cocktail in Moscow before)))

At first spray I really liked it but within 10 minute it was gone!
I noticed a lot of people compared it to D&G light blue but I don’t that from this!
Light blue does not last on me either! What a shame!

I’ve never personally tried a Moscow Mule, but from what I am gathering this is a great interpitation of the coctail. The scent is transparent and obviously synthetic, but very appealing. On initial spray I get the gingerbeer, Lime and a fizzy metallic hora like what you would find in a ZIMA or Smirnoff ICE. As the scent developes although those notes remain present, I start to notice the apple and creamy woods from the sandalwood. When the scent reaches its final stage the Amboxan shines with a white floral musk that I do enjoy. Moscow Mule wears close to the skin for the majority of its life, but has good siage. I get 6-7 hours longevity on skin. As a side note I share this scent with my wife and the dry down differs on both our skin. I rate this an 8.5 /10. Great for warm weather, work and daytime events. The comparisons to D&G light blue and/or Versace Man eau fraiche are there, but IMHO this wears different on my skin and is better composed.

I absolutely agree on the D&G comparison, although to me it is the Light Blue Eau Intense that is the dead ringer. And the overwhelming synthetic molecules are all to blame. Too overwhelming to enjoy, such a shame.

I’ve no complainants about this fragrance, I quite enjoyed it. Then again I’m really not all that hard to please and to over more balance and critique I’d say this stuff is unlikely to blow anyone away either. I’ve become very accustomed to JHaG and their subversive, minimalism especially with recent releases and Moscow mule is no different. The opening is slight, a hint of sharpness from lime and ginger and even a hint of booze but there’s the overwhelming sense that this is another modern art piece a white on white Rothko type of effort. The base of this is a powdery, warm, woody, synthetic amber somewhere between iso E super, cashermean and ambroxan. It reminds me a touch of a more masculine, ‘Anyway’ a JHaG release I liked very much indeed and own a bottle. The spicy ginger lasts throughout and the drydown is warm and cozy and actually reminds me of bits and pieces of other stuff like this (not quite sure what off the top of my head.) I like it though, quality is good, performance is good, it’s a mellow low lying fragrance in the main part but that’s fine by me. I would definitely wear this again, I think I fell for it today but I’m not going to run out to buy it.

Very similar to D&G light blue and Scentstory 24 Ice only better IMO.
Only negative thing would be that it doesn’t last very long on my skin.

You can basically buy D&G Light Blue and you get the same smell and fragrance. Vanished from my skin in 1 hour, while LB last long time..
