Description

YSL is launching the new Paris-inspired line called Mon Paris, coming out mid-2016. Mon Paris is announced as a dazzling fragrance that represents a modern olfactory interpretation of love, free from all the obstacles, dedicated and intense.

The composition has a fruity start, intoxicating floral heart and a dark chypre base. It opens with a juicy and sweet blend of Calabria bergamot, strawberry, raspberry and pear. The heart is dominated by datura flower accompanied by a bouquet of peony, Chinese and Sambac jasmine and orange blossom. Airy crystal white musk (three types of it), ambroxan and an intense patchouli duo (from Indonesian and Guatemala) provide the provocative classic chypre signature base.

The campaign shot by French film direction duo Clément Durou and Pierre Dupaquier features Canadian model Crista Cober and French actor Jérémie Laheurte shown together in various parts of Paris, including a club, the Metro, near the Eiffel Tower and on the Opéra Garnier’s roof, during both day and night. The still ad was photographed by Billy Kidd.

YSL Mon Paris is available as a 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum. Mon Paris was created by Olivier Cresp, Harry Fremont and Dora Baghriche.

This is too sweet for me. It’s sickeningly sweet.

This really satisfies my demanding sweet tooth, I love it! The first time I tried it, I think I must have been partially anosmic to it as I couldn’t really smell it and thought it had no staying power. Recently I tried it again and WOW I was finally getting what I was hoping for, a very sweet and fruity gourmand with good sillage and staying power.

A sweet fruity floral along the lines of Miss Dior Cheri and Hanae Mori (butterfly bottle). It’s charming and fresh and the bottle is beautiful. Would make a great “first perfume” for a young woman. I have others that smell similar, so don’t feel a need to own a full bottle.

So pleasantly fruity, floral and fresh. I also get some berries here: especially raspberry, some strawberry and even blueberry. And almost none if any patchouli on my skin.
A very easy to wear fragrance for almost all occasions. Has a girlish vibe to it, yet I think this is suitable to be worn by all ages.
Nothing very complex about this one, but a very beautiful all round scent in it’s simplicity.

Not a fan. There must be quite a few samples they’re needing to distribute because I’ve recv’d a few of these in the past 3 years and I find it an unpleasant, very sweet, contrived scent. Way too sweet and ordinary.

People love this perfume! Guess what? I’m in love too! I get a lot of compliments with this perfume. I can’t even describe the scent. All the notes blend beautifully. I will always have a bottle of this.

I have this on my short list to purchase very soon. I was really enamored with this fragrance at first spray, but it reminded me of something else. It took me awhile to realize that it smells like a deeper version of Beyonce’s Midnight Heat perfume – which I also like very much. The Mon Paris lasted a good 8-9 hours on my skin, and I love the bottle. I will definitely be adding this to my collection!

YSL Mon Paris opens with ripened fruit, followed by the intoxicating sweetness of datura flower, and grounded in white musk with a touch of patchouli (which I normally detest). I’ve actually smelled the datura flower, which is highly toxic if injested. It blooms at night so it’s often called the devil’s flower: erotic yet deadly, LOL. Mon Paris is another sweet, gourmand fragrance that is so trendy now; however, what makes it different is in the details. The fruits are unusually ripe, even overripe. The main floral is datura, a rare fragrance note. The base has patchouli but in such small quantity that it works more to ground the fragrance rather than add a distinctive patchouli smell (also a common fragrance note). Mon Paris is sweet and refined—two qualities that don’t usually go together.

Oh gosh, this is not made for me. I’m sorry for this negative review.
On my skin it’s extremely, sickening sweet strawberry and raspberry, with a hint of plastic/vinyl. There’s also something green/bitter in the background. What a mess!
It smells like someone with a bad breath ate artificial fruit candy.
    Headache inducing…
On the other hand, sillage is moderate-heavy and longevity is about 6-8 hours. Great performance but this is the worst scent ever for me.

Sweet strawberry fragrance. It’s yummy. But I prefer another one of such kind.

YES! A fruity fragrance that doesn’t smell cheap. It’s strawberries and patchouli with some musk; basically a very sparkling and romantic scent. Already bought a back up of this because I’m just that obsessed!

A very well done blend of strawberry, raspberry, patchouli & bergamot.
These are the notes I pick up straight after spraying.
It’s only been 20 minutes since I’ve had this on, don’t have much to say about it yet.
I’m sure it’s gonna be something I enjoy, because it makes me feel happy for some reason. Definitely a good scent to wear at nights, weather needs to be cool, like tonight.
Can’t see myself wearing this during the day, the patchouli may be too much to handle.
    All in all it’s likeable.

Mon Paris is everything I wanted Miss Dior Cherie to be! Very similar Strawberry note and dry down without the heaviness I got with MDC. It’s a beautiful, feminine scent. I love the bottle as well, so classic and pretty and girly. I usually don’t care for perfumes with patchouli, but this one is the exception. It smells bright and fruity, but with class.

This perfume has the best mix of everything I love in a fragrance it’s fruity but sophisticated and it’s floral but not too much with a nice patchouli drydown . It’s really perfect and brightens my mood . Can be worn in any season and lasts and lasts ……. This fragrance makes a perfect signature . It’s also sweet but not too sweet. It’s grown up sweet not candy sweet. Love ….

I am obsessed with collecting beautiful perfumes. I mostly buy blindly without smelling based on reviews. THIS is SO incredible that it is dangerously close to replacing my Chloe by Chloe signature.
This was love at first smell to me. I am just sad that I only bought the 1 oz. I was going to immediately buy more until I saw that there is a flanker called Mon Paris Couture that I believe I must also try.
I love feminine sweet smells and I also love soapy clean type of scents. This has both attributes. At first it is sweet but not cloying and you can definitely make out the strawberry note which is hard to find well done in any perfume, but when the fruity sweet candy starts to dry down is when it becomes a clean fresh almost soapy type of scent. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this.

Longevity – lasts 4 to 5 hrs on my skin

Fruit salad on crack. Hate it. I feel bad saying this since I got the large bottle as a gift from my dad.

  18. :

Fruitchouli floral. It has some sweet and sour moments. Fruits are strawberry, raspberry, and pears. Bit musky. Totally passable. Not my genre as it truly feels as if you’ve smelled one, you’ve smelled them all: fruit, patchouli, floral background. (I do understand that there are different fruits and florals used, I am just nonplussed)

  19. :

    5 out of 5

Mon Paris opens up very sweet.. a syrupy fruit cocktail. The first 30 minutes of this fragrance are sparkly and shapeshifting, first you are greeted by raspberry, then strawberry, then pear.. then the patchouli comes in and smooths down the effervescent fruitiness. Then comes the musk and that is where this fragrance really enchants me!
The drydown of Mon Paris has that thick and fluffy laundry detergent musk that I love so much in Burberry Brit Rhythm! Two totally different fragrances, of course, but I am a sucker for that dense, clean musk note. The fragrance info says there are three different kinds of musks.. I guess the combination of those three are the magic formula for my skin because my goodness this perfume smells fantastic on me!
The patchouli really keeps this fragrance smelling expensive and trendy, rather than just being another clean soapy scent or a fruity mess. All the notes really play well together and I love this perfume in all its phases. A new favorite 🙂 it makes me feel pretty and trendy and feminine, and sometimes that is exactly what I need out of a perfume!

Absolutely favorite fruity perfume. Doesn’t smell cheap and is a very feminine scent. My signature perfume!

That’s the perfect scent for my summer holidays. Ripe juicy fruits almost tropical, an elegant sweetness and a small hint of musk and florals in the drydown. That’s what I get from the scent. I agree with many of you that it’s not something innovative or ground-breaking, it resembles a lot nowadays gourmand scents,it has nothing to do with paris, however this scent is pretty uplifting and makes me feel carefree and happy 🙂 Sillage and longevity on me are more than satisfying. Also the bottle is very cute. Perfect for spring and summer especially daytime.

I’ve been using this for the past 1.5 year but I can say that I’m not a very fan of this product. For me, the fruity scent is too strong that I can’t smell the other notes :(.
In my opinion, This perfume suits best on spring or summer, not for a daily use. However, it’s all from my subjective perspective.

Mon Paris is an amazing scent in which patchouli is surrounded by raspberries, strawberries and a hint of musk.
I think that “sparkling” is the right word for this fragrance; it evolves and changes a lot on my skin during the day and that’s why I really enjoy it althoug I’m not a true patchouli lover.
Today I could not help but buy it. (Love)

Very soft fruity fragrance. Deja vu…. nothing really special, unfortunately. No real depth, no developing notes… and not strong/sweet enough.Rather a skin scent.

This scent smells like grapefruit to me . It’s not an interesting scent , it doesn’t get me any compliments. It’s just a perfume if you want to smell like something rather than nothing at all .

  26. :

I’m branching out and cheating on my Guerlain fragrances, so I decided to try this after smelling it in Ulta. The scent is very sweet and fruity at first but dries down to a lovely, soft floral that also has the earthiness of the Patchouli. It is a beautiful scent that I could imagine wearing on special date nights or just any time really.

  27. :

This is too sweet for me. On me, it smells like sugary, spiced apples with a hint of clean laundry. It reminds me of being in a country gift shop where fresh produce and dry goods are sold. I like the smell but not on me. I could see myself enjoying this scent as a candle in the fall.

  28. :

I like to wear this in the summer, to the beach or out at night. Initially you put it on and it is very sweet. The strawberry and fruity notes are quickly visible. It dulls down as the the day progresses into floral tones. This perfume isn’t my favorite but it is the one I get most compliments on.

  29. :

Opening is fruity, but then it quickly turns into a floral scent, with a patchouli undercurrent. On my skin the floral and patchouli is prominent.

Full disclosure: fruitchoulis are my least favorite genre so for those of you that love Mon Paris, you can stop reading now. I don’t like any part of this scent, but I’m sure it will be a crowd pleaser and big money maker from the under 30 demographic for YSL. The screechy strawberry-raspberry combo are chemical laden bombs, inducing an immediate headache. There’s nothing special, unique or interesting about it as many other perfumes smell just like it… and even better. It does have longevity and moderate projection, so that’s at least something.

This is beautiful and delicious. High school me would have worn Mon Paris, but I feel like the strawberry is a bit young on me now. I get the same mismatch when I wear Miss Dior. I also think I would get bored with this one, like I did with Armani Si Rose. But it’s definitely nice.

  34. :

The one thing about this fragrance that kills me is the price. It’s not worthy of the price point, at least here in Canada. With tax, for the large bottle, it’s $180. I’d rather spend the extra $20 and buy a V&R fragrance and at least the V&R scents have body and sophistication to them. I would categorize Mon Paris in the same range as Lady Million, Juicy Couture, Burberry Brit Sheer…but not in the same category as a Chanel, V&R or Mugler price point. By far, not worth the price. In a year and a half, this fragrance went from $115 for the large to $160 (before taxes). L’Oreal…you’re outpricing yourself!

  35. :

One reviewer said this is interchangeable with many other fragrances on the market. While I’m inclined to agree, I must say this one is pretty well done. A nice balance is struck.
Nothing mind blowing going on here, but Mon Paris is decent and dependable. It’s a slightly (ever so slightly) more mature take on those cutesy, fruity sugar-bomb scents. A faint amount of Black Opium DNA mixed in makes the difference. I like it.

  36. :

    4 out of 5

I’ve had it for a few days now and I can say, on me it’s not that sweet.
I get a fruity-fresh opening and it dries down to the Miss Dior Cherie DNA that others have mentioned.
On my skin it stays a strong fresh strawberry for hours. After the first few minutes of a noseful of fresh, rained on fruits I smell the jasmin and peony notes. And then the soft, cleanliness of musk.
It definitely does not smell like the real Paris. But it smells like YSL wants us to imagine a morning in Paris. The sweet smell of fresh fruit pastries from small shops and flowers in the parks and the cool morning air that freshens up the city.
Longevity is good for me. After 5-6 hours I can still smell strawberry and jasmine on my skin.
Sillage is moderate, which is perfect for me. I don’t want the whole room to smell like my perfume.

Too sweet for me. Almost nauseating and headache inducing all at once. Like overly sweet syrupy strawberry soda, made me pucker. That being said, the bottle is cute. Reminds me of one of those high neck tied blouses.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

I can say, It has a Miss Dior EDP (2012) DNA, very strong rich fruity floral, from top to bottom is fruity floral, expensive but worthy, good sillage and good performance, sexy and naughty scent, perfect for dinner, night out, clubbing, party and rainy day.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

    Overwhelmingly, almost nauseatingly sweet.
I bought a sample and had high hopes from the description, but something in it really disagrees with my body chemistry.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

The fruit was there for the briefest moment and then POOF I get nothing but floral and maybe some of the patchouli. There is a lot of sweetness in there too but not in a good way. Bleh.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I loved the way it smelled on paper! Fruity and sweet! I wanted to make sure I tested it before purchasing it though because it is quite expensive, and on myself with my chemistry I just don’t like it. I get almost a rose note in the dry down. I don’t really like rose perfumes very much so this was a put off for me. I am sure there are some people that this perfume would smell wonderful on, because like I said on paper this smelled amazing, but I am very glad I didn’t purchase this because it did not mix well with my chemistry at all!

  42. :

    4 out of 5

oof! this turns sickly and rotten very quickly that gives me a dull throbbing headache. terrible lasting power too so not worth the price. smells better on paper, to waft around casually!

Bought this because of the bottle design which compliment my whole vanity desk set up (and i love short chubby bottle)
At first the scent is too raspberry sweet for me… However, the more I wear this, the scent is becoming more addictive, i found i keep smelling my wrist…. not to mentioned i got complimented a lot. A nice daytime, weekend open door scent to wear with light sundress out in the park…

  46. :

Argh. Super super sweet fruit and patchouli. It’s sickening sweet. I could see how you could like this if you like highly sweetened fruitchoulis, but it is a no from me.
    Try it though.

If ‘Sun Ripened Raspberry’ from Bath & Body Works grew up and became an EDP, it would be YSL Mon Paris.

  49. :

@FireFlySF, I had a similar experience as you. The “strawberry – pear – peony – musk” blast came across as very synthetic to my nose…gave me the impression of sophisticated shampoo scent.

  50. :

    5 out of 5

    I like the bottle…And that’s about it!
I have a lot of sweet fragrances and I like/love many of them. They tend to “like” me in return too (consider I have a “sweet tooth” for fragrance. Don’t know what have “changed” or “happened” to my taste in scents over the years).
However, I have to completely agree with @Deutsch100’s review about Mon Paris. I can’t believe it is a product from YSL house (maybe one of Ralph Lauren Romance’s line, or Prada Candy’s line,…or Viktor&Rolf Bonbon).
On me, Mon Paris is a true headache inducer with a very strong, bold and loud “chemical” sweet scent/vibe, as if most of the sweet notes in it smell either “artificial” or on steroid, and they keep “developing” on my skin in that direction. I strongly believe because of the apricot + pear + peony + raspberry combined in this one. I guess I don’t have the chemistry needed here to be its “girlfriend” 🙂
The same “negative sweet effect” goes with Ralph Lauren Romance, Kat Von D Saint, Coach Poppy, Coach Floral, Vince Camuto Bella, Marc Jacobs Dot, Viktor&Rolf Bonbon and most of Prada Candy’s line.
And yes, all of those above, including this one, are “crowd pleasers”, no doubt!

  51. :

Smells nice. It’s fruity, sweet, juicy, but I find it overpriced, for both its performance and scent. It’s very unsophisticated and infantile as it resembles fruit candies and is more fit for adolescent girls.

  52. :

    4 out of 5

First off, I LOVE sweet scents…they are my fav. I love raspberry and fruit too, but Mon Paris is just TOO sweet, too fruity and honestly the dry down is so generic, so boring and almost drug store cheap smelling. Looking at many online reviews, including Sephora and on this site, it seems people are just (mostly) gushing about Mon Paris. I do not hate it, but I for sure dislike it! Longevity is not bad, sillage is weak (good thing, lol). One word: Generic!

I smell this and find fruity and sweet and ask for a sample for my mother. At mom’s house we both tried it and loved it… I have just gotten Absolutely Blooming but could not resist the sweetness of this one and got it as well… My husband loves the smell of both fragrances and I love how they make me feel…

  55. :

Overwhelming raspberry in this scent. If you want to take a bath in raspberry jam this is the one for you. I’m not smelling much going on underneath the top notes as they are very domineering. It smells like many other sickly sweet scents that have been cobbled together Either for the young or the middle aged romantic. Smells like raspberry ‘Ass’ to me 😀 Verdict… a big raspberry paaaaarp ! What are these perfumes that smell like ‘Ass?’ Please someone tell me… the mind boggles….

I’ve been waiting to try this ever since I saw it on Fragrantica, and I am not disappointed. It’s a really pretty, fruity, and sweet scent, but there’s something fresh going on here too. It definitely reminds me of when I went to Paris last summer; maybe the marketing’s influencing me, but whenever I smell this, I’m brought back there! I’ll definitely be bringing this bottle if I ever return to the City of Light!

This EDP is soo unique, Ive never owned a strawberry scented perfume and this is an amazing one!!, the fruity floral musky aroma remains a long time on skin and clothes and I find it really sexy and romantic, it can be worn day or night.

  59. :

This fragrance quickly became a favorite of mine and everyone around me. I always get compliments on it and most of my coworkers are wearing it now, too! It’s the perfect combination of fruity and floral. It’s not overwhelmingly sweet, is somewhat sexy, and transitions well into night. I like to layer it with other fragrances as well.

  60. :

    4 out of 5

Smells like Si w some calone and strawberry added. It’s like if miss dior absolutely blooming is on one side of the scale, and si is in the middle, this is at the other end. It’s very musty and not fresh smelling.

  61. :

    3 out of 5

I only like the dry down because it reminds me of the original Miss Dior Cherie with a nice strawberry note. Unfortunately I can’t get past the strong pear note in the opening that persist until the very end. It’s sweet and syrupy. Towards the dry down it becomes more caramel-like with the vanilla and amber and the patchouli gives an impression of grass which is interesting… like dancing in a spring field eating strawberries and oranges (and unfortunately a lot of pears). A young, sparkling and happy scent.

  62. :

    4 out of 5

Two spritzes in and I am still smelling it the next day. The longevity is a BEAST. I was not expecting that. My advice is to go easy, as you would with an overly passionate lover, or maybe not? That’s up to you.
Excellent sweet floral, either way. Addictive.

  63. :

    4 out of 5

One of my more stronger sweeter scents but I love it. I feel it does give off a feel of sophistication and confidence when I wear it. I love the bottle presentation as I am a sucker for pretty packaging and I love how it looks on my dresser with my other perfumes. It does last a couple of hours but because I don’t douse myself in it, it may last longer. The vanilla notes is definitely one of the stronger notes and the strawberry notes enhances the sweetness. A beautiful scent.

  64. :

    5 out of 5

This is what I would call “Spring in a bottle”. It’s a very well crafted floral, with a strong peony note, without being too much on the green side Also, perfectly balanced with the fruity notes, which, thankfully, are not overly strong – it’s a more floral perfume, not a fruity one. After a few hours I sense some musky vibe and not so much patchouli, but I still have the floral springy vibe on the top. It lasts extremely well for a floral. One of my favorite fragrances for the spring.

  65. :

    3 out of 5

This opens really, really sweet. I find that I have to stop myself from going spray happy or else this can get cloying because of the sweetness overload. Which can be a good thing because a bottle is going to last you forever, you really don’t need much of it at all!
All the fruits opening make this very sweet from the get go. Jammy, great sillage, leave a sweet trail behind you and the longevity is great as well. I’ve been wearing this for 7 hours and it’s still going pretty strong. It can really fill up a room if you’re a little heavy handed. Very bright, cheerful, happy scent which I think might be better in winter than summer. I find this scent suits younger women the most, but any woman can rock this little gem of course. Probably won’t be very appropriate for a man though. The scent is pretty linear from the initial spray to the dry down, it’s just sweet throughout and not much development.
I compared it to other sweet fragrances like Mon Guerlain and Donna, this one is the sweetest of the bunch, and the most “innocent” and “youngest”.

Got this as a gift, and I am absolutely swooning over it despite myself.
I dont have a lot of fruity stuff in my collection…
So, sure, I will take this. Go ahead, twist my arm.
Its divine, energizing, nectar-like, and utterly likable in every way to me.
I can tell you all the other scents it reminds me of: Moisture Maniac Conditioner by Bed Head (which smells fabulously like apricot coulis.. one of my favorite smells in a conditioner)…Amarige by Givenchy… and Gucci Rush.
Its not EXACTLY like any of them, but each have that same thing in them that makes this one sing for me.
(Dont ask me what it is, and no its not the patchouli.)
Ive been grabbing this A LOT these days. Its bright, sexy, and somehow… INSPIRING… to me. Others like it on me too… its refreshing to smell it in the air.
Good in cold winter under grey skies to brighten and warm you… as well as cool and refreshing in summer.
Ive also been over the moon… when layering this with Lalique Amethyst.
Its a perfect combo because… BERRIES. I wanted to amp up the berry in Amethyst so that it became more “obvious”… As in … obvious berry…
This does that nicely and they really work together, as Amethyst is not sweet at all, and though powerful in its own way (iso e super), still somewhat understated.
This makes Amethyst POP… on the days I want that kind of thing.
A really fine perfume, and despite what others are saying, it smells high quality and expensive.
I experience this as MONSTER like,,, Huge sillage and lasting 8 hours strong.
By the way… I am 44. I have no problem whatsoever wearing this. It suits my personality … young, bohemian, and creative…. with a wild child streak.
    Thats me.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this one! Its so pretty. It reminds me so much of Miss Dior Cherie back in the day but a bit more fruity. I remember smelling MDC as a kid and always wanted it, but unfortunately its discontinued. 🙁 But Mon Paris is a really similar. It also reminds me of a yummy fruity strawberry lemonade drink on a hot summer day. Plus the bottle is super cute!

This is a beautiful fragrance. I’m really enjoying it. I had a sample from a friend, I didn’t think it would last very long on my skin, but have been pleasantly surprised! It has lasted more than 6 hours. Very soft florals on me with a woodsy-musk dry down that I’m loving. This one may just have to go into my collection!

top notes is strawberry and raspberry, after a while you can notice other notes like white musk and a bit of white flowers.
I think its a scent that you can wear at nights or mornings ,everyday or on especial occasions it works out with anything.
also its very feminine and suitable for young women at their 20s

Super sweet and definitely leaves a cloud behind you. I don’t love overly fruity perfumes, so this is a pass for me.
This perfume is a general crowd pleaser but if you spray it on clothes it smells REAL WEIRD 8 hrs later. Just FYI.

I think it smells very intoxicating. To me there is something special, almost like a hidden smell that draws me in. It is a fruity floral but I find it very sophisticated and sexy smelling. It’s not groundbreaking but there is something that I find that makes it smell special and sets it apart for me. I personally love it.

YAWN. This has to be the most boring generic fruity-sweet frag I’ve ever smelled. Hard pass.

I’ve tested this three times so far, and, oddly, I’m not picking up on the berry smell everyone else seems to be. The first time it smelled like grape juice or grape candy (or maybe that’s the berry?), the second time it was a lovely musky grapefruit/citrus, and today I’m getting a *lot* of patchouli with a slightly metallic note I can’t place. Unfortunately, today’s version of the scent means this is going on the “dislike” list for me.

This might be too tough, but I am reminded of strawberry Koolaid. Too fruity and too sweet for my taste. Elizabeth Arden’s Always Red Femme is about as fruity as I can go, and even that is a bit much. On me, this is all about the strawberry, which I would rather eat than wear.

I love this! On me it is utterly delicious, a drink for my olfactory thirst. I’ve received compliments from other ladies when wearing it. However it just doesn’t last and I am drawn to the reluctant conclusion that it is just too expensive for an hour of its company at a time.

PLUM MARMALADE CANDY. Sweetness clear/average+. They aimed suitably sweet + softly cloudy blue combination, and quite well succeeded. Actually this is not a bad scent. It’s delicious and fine. Feminine.
But the scent is so common in 2017-2018, and simple, that it’s totally without personality. Perfume departments smell like this – teenagers too, commented someone.
The perfume is quite heavy (my pullover got scented well and heavily in testing and it stays), but not sharp. It has tone of LOW CLOUDY-BLUE. Very very smooth.

I was afraid that this scent would be too sickly, but it’s not at all. Gorgeous juicy berries that open the scent so brightly, and as it wears it deepens when the musk, patchouli and ambroxen come into play. It feels kind of fuzzy and effervescent. No, it’s not revolutionary. But it’s really a joyful and fun little fragrance that I’m sure will really shine in the warmer weather.
    Happiness in a bottle.

I’ve been in a fruitchouli mood lately. So when I stopped in to Sephora today I decided to try Mon Paris out after having neglected to try it for the last year. I’m so glad I did.
The opening is an enjoyable blast of tart berry juice and sparkling synthetics. As it dries down it remains very fruity and sparkly with a fresh peony note and the suggestion of some low key white florals, cottony musk and just the tiniest smidgeon of clean patchouli. The overall effect is fresh-fruity, bright, optimistic, and frankly effervescent. It is not as sweet as you would think based on the notes. Those who have likened it to champagne are right on the money IMO.
To those who are wary of trying something with a calone note, have no fear. Calone is used judiciously and to great effect here as an accent to the fruitiness. There is not cucumber/melon here, no 90’s aquatic vibe. I suspect that the calone in tandem with some soft aldehydes are responsible for the sparkly effervescent quality.
Final verdict: Fun and easy to wear, perfect for someone who wants a fruitier and less patchouli forward option than Miss Dior (2012) or Coco Mad. Way, way, less sweet than LVEB and Flowerbomb and with a much less woody base note than either of them. Casual and flirty.

Mon Paris is quite the ride. At first, an explosion of strawberry (a ripe, juicy, cheerful, uplifting strawberry), it evolves into a deep, sweet, earthy patchouli-intensive floral, punctuated by residual fruity tartness. The flowers are not distinctive to my nose, but they meld with the earthy patchouli in the dry down to bring to mind something like walking through a fruit and flower garden after a heavy rain. There is a density to this perfume, a humidity even, but it is punctuated by the freshness of the fruit, which makes it quite pleasant when you’re in the mood for something intense.
As other reviewers have noted, there is nothing groundbreaking here, but there is a pleasant perfume with a pleasant development. And even though I’m not typically a fan of patchouli, I am a fan of its contribution to this composition.

From what I’ve read, it’s quite popular to write this fragrance off as too teenager-like. I personally like it. Yes it’s not groundbreaking, yes it’s pretty sweet, yes it is a bit generic, but I like how it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. It’s a simple fruity sweet scent that’s good for every season, every casual occasion. It’s the sort of scent that you can grab when you’re not sure what fragrance is appropriate, or when you don’t want to overdo it. I have it and I don’t regret purchasing.

Eh. At first spray, it’s too intense. I get a syrupy rose explosion, and there’s no balance.
Let it dry down, and it smells like a modern interpretation of the iconic YSL Paris. It’s still got the same floral, amber explosion but it’s been softened a bit by some fruity notes. It’s quite nice.
But I just can’t think of a good fit for this fragrance. It’s mature but not elderly so I think all ages can pull it off. However, it’s a bit office, a bit club, a bit formal. I think there’s better fragrances with more defined roles. It’s not casual and it’s not a warm weather scent–I’ll give it that. It’s nice but it’s not mind blowing. Very good performance though, both sillage and longevity.
