Description

Mon Numero 9 is a modern interpretation of
the famous Cologne. A classic top note: zesty, green and slightly tangy, it will leave you
feeling uplifted, before catching you unawares with a contrast sustained first by shiso
leaf, then by resinous notes that bring a sharp sophistication.
Mon Numéro 9, with its festive mood, is like a vision of summer, in flip-flops and a white
t-shirt in bright sunlight, a refreshing cocktail in hand.

Available as 100 ml EDC.
Mon Numero 9 was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Bertrand Duchaufour.

Any time, any day, any occasion, any season (maybe a little less for winter), this makes you smell like an assured sophisticated “welcomed everywhere” dandy that “smells rich”, is funny and smart but never arrogant… sort of David Niven type of character…It can easily nestle on a man’s or a woman’s dressing table shelf as it smells simple, crisp and clean without giving that straight out of a barber shop effect.
Silk cravat and a glistening white shirt optional, not essential (NO !!! beach wear of flip-flops please) as long as you have a glass of smooth white, or a fine bubbly or even a G+T at hand.

I have to agree with others on this page that Mon Numéro 9 isn’t particularly original, but I don’t mind, since it’s the kind of scent I personally can’t get enough of, and it’s so very well done here. The opening especially is a summer delight for a citrus lover like myself: extremely tart, intsene, realistic citron joined by green rhubarb – delicious! When it dries down, which is pretty quickly as can be expected from any cologne, the citrus remains dominant but the bright acidic aspect is replaced by a more herbal, even slightly vegetable vibe. It reminds me vaguely of green herb salt, but in a good way, and not salty at all, if that makes any sense? I know it sounds strange, but it’s surprisingly nice and well suited to the citrus notes. I guess this must be the shiso leaf, which I’ve never smelled before, but whatever it is, it’s working!
I have a little decant of this that I’ll enjoy spending the summer with, and I won’t be surprised if it turns into a full in the not too distant future. I love sampling all corners of the perfume world, but when it comes right down to daily wear, I’ll take enjoyment over originality any day, and this one is getting full marks in that respect, at least in my book.

    Leaner eau d’Issey

Not dissimilar to several of Guerlain’s colognes but with the L’Artisan creamy woods and slightly incensed base (albeit very hushed in this rendition), this is a fresh citrus which will offend noone and would be super wearable in any number of situations – and yes it does bring to mind the image of summer, flip flops and a refreshing gin and tonic in the heat.

With its emphasis on citrus top notes and only a faint dash of incense, courtesy of a subtle hint of myrrh, Mon Numero 9 is a rather atypical scent from Bertrand Duchaufour. It’s closer in style to the smooth, breezy work of Thierry Wasser, and indeed, there are clear structural similarities to the latter’s Guerlain Homme. Both feature a mojito-like sugary sweetness; lime, which in Mon Numero 9 is bolstered by gnarly citron; mint, which in Mon Numero 9 is of the Japanese shiso variety; and a white musk and vetiver base. There’s also a subtle but noticeable dash of rhubarb, which Wasser also deployed alongside the mojito accord in his Guerlain Homme flanker, GH Intense. Overall, Mon Numero 9 is sweeter and less masculine, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a unisex green with a dash of mojito freshness. For me, it’s pretty, but also pretty inessential.

Start with a good energy .. now vibrant, it reveals his character fresh, pungent and a little “acid” -. Full of contrast, harmonious and suitable for summer days, after the beach, maybe drinking a cocktail .. if you try this, go quiet on this perfume! It is unisex, although I think it’s more toward the masculine side … Suitable for the summer in my opinion. Unfortunately the sillage is light .. but the longevity is moderate .. (5-6 hours on my skin). Overall and ‘smells good, that stands out, it can be noticed .. and that will surely keep in cosider for any purchase! ☼ ツ.

Mon Numéro 9 is indeed a typical eau de cologne. It opens on me with tangy lemon and herbal tones.
After about 30 minutes, sometimes I can detect a certain sour note like clean sweat, sometimes a laundry-like soapy note becomes prominent. But they all eventually calm down and the fragrance settles into a smooth herbal skin scent with a slightly peppery cedar base.
The sillage is soft and the longevity is around 5 hours. Despite a few strange notes popping out on me occasionally, Mon Numéro 9 is overall a pleasant and natural eau de colonge, very unisex and versatile. However, I find it lacks a certain whimsy of other offerings of L’Artisan Parfumeur. Considering its price and availabilty, I’d be hesitant to recommend it over other more affordable and well-constructed eau de cologne on the market.

    Colonia agrumata giallo verde.
    Nessuna emozione, sorry.

This is such a boring scent! The first blast was something I’ve felt hundred times before – sharp, powerful citruses on a very green and woody base, I got no rhubarb or anything else at all. Yes, there was some medical nuances of mint (think of toothpaste) at first, but very soon it settled to the said sharp citrus. Too fresh, too soapy, too linear, too straight forward.
This indeed is not a girly citrus, even though I have to admit that there is a huge amount of sugar involved, so I don’t find this particularly masculine, clearly unisex.
Not worth the money in my opinion, I could name tons of better citruses (both scent, composition and quality wise) I’d prepare over this.

gorgeous scent! it does smell very citrusy but not so much so you immediately smell like a certain fruit. it’s fresh perfect for summer. reminds me a little of the batucada but without the ‘kick’ i find in batucada.

Opens with an intense burst of lemon, but not a girly lemon, a smooth sophisticated lemon, maybe that’s the citron. Slightly soapy, very clean. Also a little cedar peeks through. Citrus loses intensity rather quickly, settling into a pleasant, but a bit more masculine, scent, probably from the minty shiso along with the cedar.
I can’t find the rhubarb. Overall a wonderful opening that settles into a pleasant, but just alright perfume. Doesn’t last long, couple hours.
