Lovely, Elegant, Classy.
I believe it brings out decent femininity in every women who uses it.
If you want to be a real lady, this is the perfume for you.
According to the article, it was launched 1987.
It is amazing there is no hint of over-the-top 80’s excess.
The amount of violet has an exquisite balance with other flowers. The bottle is a timeless beauty, too.
I am very glad to find it.
If I ever be bored with other perfumes, I’m sure I can come back to it and never would be disappointed with it no matter what.

I am quietly obsessed with Mon Classique. It smells very much like a hand lotion my mother used when I was a child. The “burnt” quality that truffles mentions, I get it too in the PdT, but not the Parfum. I kind of like it. It’s a faint, rubbery indole. Some people can’t stand that accord, it does something for me. I like it, but I have to say to me it is not very strong.
I find this to be mostly freesia on top, but the violet and jasmine are there, adding a dash of mystery. If you don’t adore a bouquet of flowers, don’t even consider this. It is the only perfume in my collection that is floral beginning, middle and end. I’m actually not used to that, but it has grown on me.
This is a very romantic, feminine floral. It is also pretty dated, to be honest. I don’t wear this out very often because it’s not easy to find the appropriate context to wear this. There is something very pure and regal about it. Virginal, but sensual. I always envision a very elegant woman on her first night with the man of her dreams. She’s madly in love – not a seductress.
I prefer the brightness of the PdT to the parfum, personally.

I used to wear this back in the 90s. Always loved it and the bottle is lovely. Pity I can’t find it anymore.

This to me has a kind of ‘burnt’ quality to it – especially in the topnotes but evident all the way through the wearing. I hope this is not because the mini I’ve acquired has something wrong with it!
It also reminds me quite a bit of the old 1980s fave, the Giorgio of the stripey yellow box.
Overall I’m finding this fragrance quite pleasant – as long as the burnt-ness isn’t abnormal, which would put me off!

I remember buying this for my Mother in the early 90’s, probably from TJ Maxx (a good US discount Dept store). I’ve always had difficulty finding frangrances for my Mother as she easily gets headaches from them, but this was a winner. Unfortunately, I was never able to find it again. I remember it being fresh and elegant with clean white flowers, citrus, and a hint of elegant and mysterious spice. Others along this line that I’ve gotten for my Mom: A Scent by Issey Miyake, Eau de Calandre by Paco Rabanne, Colors by Benneton, Hermes Eau d’Orange Vert and Chanel No. 19.

For all the fans of this fragrance: you should try Black by Kenneth Cole….it is pretty much a modernized subtle version, very nicely done.

I love , love the opening of Mon Classique….it starts very opulent and classy. It’s not the while flowers like in Champs Elysees, but rather along the lines of Caron’s Fleurs De Rocaille.
But once the top notes dry down, it doesn’t smell so great anymore, and the lemon fizz gets way too pronounced and annoying to my nose. Yes, it lasts for quite a while but after 30 minutes it’s not something i want to endure on my skin. It looks like this perfume is completely missing the base notes to provide a base and make a nicer transition into drydown. I did some research and experimentations, and finally found a solution. If layered with musky base, it smells quite rich and beautiful for hours, and musk somewhat tames the lemon. It pairs off wonderfully with Musc by Molinard without altering the original scent.
Oh, and did I mention that the bottle is absolutely gorgeous and very quality made?

An absolute beauty!I totally agree with Action about this hidden treasue! I didn´t expect such a quality from this fragrance! Low price but amazing perfume! great lasting power and amazingly balanced flower smell. If i am not mistaken it is similar to “Guirlandes” by Carven (at least mine vintage pure parfum of Carven smells indeed very similar to this one). But it smells very familiar and i am totally in love with this one! It gets indeed a bit powderly towards the drydown, but unlike the many others it doesn´t becomes suffocating, it stays very flowerly as well.
Do try this if you like flower scents without being too nasty or bland.
P.S. staying power is amazing! applied it last night and when woke up in the morning still could smell it on my skin! That doesn´t happen with other fragrances very often!
