I expected more vanilla with the citrus notes; something warm and citrusy with rich tonka. I’m quite disappointed. On my skin, this is only bergamot and musk. No floral notes, no vanilla, no rich base notes. Screechy and boring at the same time. It also disappears within the hour.
This probably smelled differently in 1994. It would be interesting to compare the vintage scent to the new one; I bet it’s reformulated beyond recognition.

A musky tonka version of Loulou. Parent of Jil Sander n4, Cornubia and Lou Lou.

Does anyone have any experience with the vintage version? I am trying to get info on if this was reformulated. Love this site and all you wonderful people that share your feelings. Looking for a new older scent that can transport me away when needed, if only for a short time. Thanks.

Nei profumi Modigliani non è inserita la versione con bottiglia rossa… Qualcuno sa dirmi le note? Io ho a casa questo profumo da tanti anni, all’inizio non mi fa impazzire ma le note di testa invece sono stupende. Grazie

Modigliani is quite nice. The floral notes are soft and lovely; I notice the bergamot initially quite strongly, which is a very good thing in my opinion. Floral with a hint of spicy depth.
This is a good all-ages scent. I like to wear it with something pointedly feminine, though I can imagine it can be quite versatile. I don’t think I would wear this with something more formal or to the club or anything.
My biggest complaint: it doesn’t last long AT ALL. It would bug me more if Modigliani was expensive, but still, I have to reapply this one every 30 minutes or so it seems.
Not the boldest choice, but if you want something feminine and pleasant, not over-powering but beautiful, and if it doesn’t bother you that it wears off fast, pick it up!

Modigliani by Modigliani is a typical floral, rather than oriental floral fragrance.
I do not get any lemony notes, only strong floral ones with a hint of pineapple.
Base is powerful with prominent benzoin and vanilla, but the fragrance does not turn out to be overly sweet.
It is a perfect office perfume with a nice sillage and good staying power.
Since it is very inexpensive, I would say get yourselves a bottle, all Floral Fragrances’ Lovers.
Those of you who are fond of Lancome Poeme are most likely to love Modigliani 🙂
