Description

Missoni Aqua is a fragrance of ‘the beach, water and sunny summer of Sardinia’. The beginning is fresh and juicy with citrusy notes of bergamot and grape, united with melon and narcissus. The floral heart combines violet, peony, blue freesia, and lily of the valley. The base notes are iris, jasmine, and ‘the sunlight which is sparkling on the surface of the open sea’. Eau de Toilette Missoni Aqua comes in familiarly-shaped green bottle of 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml size.

Missoni Acqua was launched in 2007. Missoni Acqua was created by Trudi Loren and Maurice Roucel.

This opens with a strong blast of melon which was a bit startling to me at first as I’m not a huge fan of that particular note. Thankfully it’s fleeting and dies off rather quickly to be replaced by a refreshing blend of citrus and florals that somehow convey a sunny day at the beach without the sharp crusty saltwater scent.. I love that fact that it smells fresh and clean but yet is not soapy in the least.. It lasts quite a while on me and the sillage is decent.

This is certainly not my cup of tea. I love aquatic and clean scents in summer time. I also enjoy fresh and crisp floral scents. This one is trying to bring both worlds together and it does not work at all for me.
The composition is synthetic beyond redemption and, I thought I would never ever say it about a perfume, but it does remind me of a household cleaner. The opening is very sharp and crisp with a blast of alcohol. Then the scent settles to a strange aquatic with peculiar sweet note which I could not recognize and definitely did not like.
What I loved about this scent is the bottle. It is fun and eclectic. The juice color is a beautiful turquoise. It is such a shame that the scent failed to live up to the expectations I had. Overall score 4/10.
This review is for EDT version

I’ve had a good sized sample of this that I have used sparingly for years.
This is extremely ozonic on my skin. It’s not a sea smell. It smells similar to the air on the shore of a huge, clean lake on a nice warm, crisp spring day. The air that picks up the smell of the hills of grass, and flowers, mixed with the clean, aquatic smell of fresh water. Then, I smell almost ripe honey dew thrown into the mix.
It’s fresh and clean and airy.

I got a sample a few years ago and I really loved it. I would like to buy it. It is true there is nothing comparable for summer. Missoni Acqua is absolutely adorable.

I love this one at every stage of the fragrance. It is my signature fragrance and there is nothing like it on the market. Unfortunately, Missoni discontinued it.

I am sorry some people don’t like this fragrance. I love it! I have been selling womens’ fragrance for 8 years, so there isn’t much that impresses me, but this one gets me. I get compliments every time I wear it (and am embarrassed to tell my customers we don;t carry it at my dept store). I love very fresh and aquatic scents, I am a D&G Light Blue and Armani Acqua Di Gioia girl through and through. I’m just disappointed Nordstrom stopped carrying it and now the prices are jacked up on eBay 🙁

I have a sample vial and tested it yesterday. It smelled soooo familiar…took me a while to place it…ah yes, it is Yankee Candle Splash of Rain. Exactly. I really like Yankee Candle Splash of Rain. But I think I will stick with the candle. The Missoni fragrance does wear a really long time and after 12 hours I was kind of sick of it.

This scent smells like ripe, juicy pear to me. I had an obsession with finding true pear scents a few years back and this was the outcome. I absolutely loved it at the time and wore it every day and night. It’s crisp and cuts through the atmosphere. It shocks people. I don’t enjoy it as much anymore and I have a tiny bit left in the bottle that just won’t go. I think my falling out of love with it coincided with losing the bottle top…

I truly don’t know what to say …
I got this as a gift, and truly, I love the person for introducing this perfume to me. It is very … idk, fresh, makes me feel happy.
We are different people with different tastes and prefer different things. So I don’t mind when people say they don’t like this one. But what is important is that I love it and I would recommend it to girls/women who love that light aquatic fresh fruity scent you smell when you are thinking about what makes you happy. And this scent really does make me think of happy times, makes me feel cheerful.

I had a sample of this, and it just didnt do anything for me. It smelled very aquatic and citrusy when i sprayed it on, but after few hours, the drydown was something spicy and sweet. Did not like it at all. Not for me…

I don’t like this one, is not fresh just spicy, this smells on me just like Head Over Heels, not good.

ok just received my samples in the mail! they probably were sitting in 100 degree weather for the past few days between air mail and the post office…but i gave it a spray.. for the first 30 minutes this fragrance smelled like fish/ocean and sour fruit.. not good! It has been about 45 minutes now and the sour fishy smell is gone and i smell sweet cucumbers, ocean and kiwi..just ok.. i think i will put them in the refrig and try again later this weekend.. i hope it gets better

My current favourite, this fragrance helps me cling onto summer, even in winter months. Smells fresh and young and reminds me of the beach

Acqua is linear and simple, but some may like that about it. What I get is a sustained high pitch synthetic floral that is both fresh and heavy feeling. And every now and then there’s a weird spicy note that jumps out which doesn’t go with the main note(s) at all. And… that’s about all there is to this perfume. Think pool, not ocean. If you like somewhat synthetic floral, something fresh, sporty, simple, but unmistakably feminine, you might like Acqua (that is, if it doesn’t do the weird pepper thing on your skin).

This one was rather disappointing for me. The staying power was 2-4 hours at the most for me. There is also a high, sharp, citrus note that gave me slight headaches and make me sneeze. The drydown would have been nice if it were stronger and more aquatic–I guess my body chemistry just brought out too much irritating citrus.

If you’re a bit of a sea nymph or mermaid (as I am), I think you might like this one. I don’t really know what a water lily smells like, but this fragrance is what I imagine a water lily would smell like. Missoni Aqua sprays on a little strong (yet, I’ve sure smelt a lot worse); however, it is so sweet and fresh on dry down. I love it. I recently purchased a bottle for $12.99 online. When I found out how good the scent is, I went back and ordered another bottle (although I know I don’t “need” it). I just can’t resist a great scent at a great price. Way too tempting for me. I’m wearing it right now and experiencing sea nymph ecstasy as I write …

This one gives me heart spasms. When I was younger I loved B&BW’s Cucumber Melon on girls, and Acqua is like a fresher, slightly grown-up version of that. Still very youthful and delicately sweet.
When I find the right girl I’m going to give her a bottle of this so I can smell it on her all the time.

I’m not big on aquatics. They often strike me as being too artificial, salty or headache-inducing. Missoni Acqua, while still not my cup of tea, is one of the nicest aquatics I’ve managed to try.
Opening with some pleasantly refreshing citrus and melon notes, Missoni Acqua has quite a tranquil, beachy feel to it. The floral heart, while somewhat synthetic, managed to impress me with a soapiness that I rather enjoyed.
I like the Summery feel that is portrayed in this fragrance. I’m just heading into Summer now and it makes me so excited for beach season, sun hats and pina coladas.
Watery and fresh, while Missoni Acqua is not particularly complex, the simplicity works. There is a sense of cleanliness, but it’s not too dominating like some aquatic scents tend to be. I liked that this fragrance focused more on the fruity aspect rather than the synthetic, oceanic quality.
It was funny how the bottle design made me think of a swimming pool, so everytime I smelt this fragrance, for some strange reason I was surprised to discover that it didn’t smell like chlorine.
Some mention a pinch of sweetness in Missoni Acqua, however I disagree, the natural, juicy melon note is what gives this fragrance that quality. The lasting power is so-so, however I consider that a pleasing aspect seeming that in hot weather it’s nice to refresh yourself with a few spritzes here and there.

My mom had this one. My little bro bought it for her for mothers day a few yrs back. Its really nice. Very fresh. Perfect for the summer. She really loved it. Its too bad I havent seen it in a long while. I really enjoyed Missonis original & Acqua. They should release another fragrance. The bottles are so beautiful & fun. : )

I fell in love with this perfume at first sniff. The melon is juicy and refreshing but there is also a second impression to this fragrance, an impression of something hot and roasted that’s kind of what makes me like it so much. Considering Luca Turin’s review, this might be the immortelle note he mentioned. All in all, it’s a perfect metaphor of summer – it makes me think of the beach, sun, hot sand, white clothing, tanned skin, cocktails.
Lasting power on me is very good for an EDT – around 8 hours. And sillage is rather close to the skin but noticeable.

    Horrific experience.
The only thing I can detect for the first hour are spicy jalapeno peppers (not even listed), that make me gag.
I purchased it in blind and regret the money spent. Not worth a penny for the so called floral aquatic experience. There is nothing floral in it, neither aquatic…well, apart from the bottle colour.
I wouldn’t recommend buying it without trying first. If you like Rykiel Rose paprika-hot peppers opening, you may actually like Missoni Acqua.
I just gave my bottle away 🙁
Couldn’t stand the mixture of hot peppers and melon.
I love melon but cannot stand it sprinkled with peppers!

Love aquatics for the summer. I thought this would be perfect. After reading the reviews, especially the one by Happyme 2009 who spoke of melon and peach, I could not wait till this one arrived. I wanted to love it, and have tried it two or three times. Unfortunately when I spray in on (even though it’s not in the notes) all I smell is pepper, pepper, PEPPER 🙁

i bought it yesterday before tested, but i dont like it very much.smells like melon icecream and i hate melon.maybe it feel better at summer, cause longlasting and fresh.

I tested it yesterday on Duty Free in Milan while rushing to the gate. I tested a little bit on my wrist and regretted not buying one when already boarded on the plane. The narcissus is very sharp at the beginning but then the ocean notes and iris are absolutely adorable. Even though it was EDT the lasting power was 10hours!
Next trip I will definetely get this one:)

My second fave perfume out of all the ones I own. My boyfriend loves this one- it’s so lovely and fresh.

I have a small vial, and I will not be buying a big bottle… well, it smells fruity aquatic, quite strong, and I don’t get much flowers… mainly plum, peach, melon, late summer fruits…almost if I can say that …. a gourmand aquatic. In the dry down finally the flowers kick in, powdery and soft. Interesting combo, but something in it feels like a cool cool summer, like an unfulfilled promise. I never smelled the original so who knows, maybe it’s the aquatic notes that leave me cold…

This fragrance seems more to me like a fruity scent than aquatic. I do like it, but I do not wear it often.

awful perfume. i initially liked it because it was so aquatic, but now i find it really intoxicating and un-original. i feel the cucumber smell way to intense for my tastes… i find it impossible to wear more that 1-2 weeks.

I too smell cucumber (which I must say I prefer in my sandwiches) – had this bought for me but would not have bought it for myself.

Luca Turin has called the original version (orange Missoni) a true masterpiece and has given it 5 stars. Personally, I prefer Acqua version. Yes, it is simplifed, lighter, more innocent. Actually, it is my girly dream came true.
I think, it is one of the best juicy aquatic for summer. It gives you the sensation of enjoying yourself by the sea on a cheerful day with a basket of fresh luscious fruit.
It sounds a little bit synthetic at the beginning but the drydown gives me the right vibe. I wouldn’t be seeking here some sensuality, mystery or glamour, you get what it seems. Once I was surprised to have met it on a 40- years old business lady in winter, but then I thought that all means are good when you are longing for holidays.
I’ve read in the reviews that it is similar to Be Delicious, well, this aquatic is not about apples at all, and in front of Emerald Dream Missoni acqua seems to me more juicy and maybe sweeter.
Last spring the consultant (a man) in a shop expected me to choose smth more serious, his hints took shape in one phrase he kept repeating: This one is only for summer, for summer. But then, seeing my serious intentions he gave up and said: Ok, it will be summer soon.
So, a year later I enjoy our reunion again.

I have been trying this one for a few days now, and am I the only one that smells cucumber? It is very pleasant, nonetheless. I feel as if I am young fresh dewy all over again every time I sniff my wrists… which I can’t seem to stop while wearing this! My husband likes this, too.. which is very rare for us. (his most used comment when I ask for his opinion is that I smell “a bit flowery” which I *think* he dislikes. ? Good thing I usually wear fragrance for ME.. So girls, this is a very fresh and alluring scent, not sexy in a trashy way but more of a just from a rainstorm type thing.. sexy too, no? I just love it! It makes me want to dance in the rain. ^.^

amazing scent! at first it really is strange even nose twiching but then after a while it blooms into a watery fruity fresh veil. great and worth buiyng if you like summer fresh and invigorating fragrances. i like the bottle too. it smells how it looks- lagoon like.

Overwhelming and sweet at first. Strange thing: it get LOTS of KIWI here! And I do not care much for fruity scents. The drydown is much better: fresh and clean. Stayingpower is okay, it stays on my skin for about 6 hours.
Like it but do not love it…

Very aquatic, very specific. Really fresh summer fragrance. I Like it very well!

As soon as you spray it, you get a blast of what seems to be peachy watermelon bubblegum, which I found horrible, but once it dries down it’s a perfect aquatic, fresh, summer beach scent. I usually hate anything aquatic in perfumes, but this one works for me somehow. I feel very clean in wearing it, and that little hint of melon note is very enjoyable! I wouldn’t buy it, though.
