I met her in reverse. First with Chanell Coco, then I met her, so I immediately realized that they were very much like each other, only then and now cheaper was the Mirage. If someone feels immense desire to buy a Mirage, but you can not because you can not get it, take Coco. There is a minimal difference between the two, but it is the same feeling.
I hope that Oriflame once brings back the Mirage. I don’t understand why they leaves such a masterpiece.

This is just special and mysterious. Somehow it sends me thinking of Coca Cola, I don’t know why :-). It’s unique, woody, balsamic touch delight me.. It’s like a trip deep in the heart of a remote spice island. One of my favorite scents

Thanks MoonSparrow for mentioning apple cinnamon candles, there’s something quite familiar about it to/on me and I couldn’t place what it reminded me of.
Other than that… well, all my reviews are basically me complaining that perfumes are too sweet to me and I’m not getting enough of the green or citrus or bitter notes. Same here. It does have something a bit special though, I’ll see if it grows on me.

The quintessential poison apple fragrance, Mirage is a curious conglomeration of the listed notes. I have never so strongly desired a fragrance I never smelled before. I bought it blind from ebay because of all the enthusiastic reviews here. My gut feeling was that it would be right up my alley.
It is not much a green fragrance to me; instead is a bright sparkling faerie flitting through the deep green forest, leaving an aromatic spice trail to guide you through.
I am surprised there is no apple, because the overall effect is that of the cinnamon-apple candles I love to burn around the house. I have long sought to match that scent in a liquid fragrance and unwittingly did so when I bought this. There is also some kinship here with Dior Poison, though this is less balsamic and not as smooth as that legendary icon.
I don’t smell any one predominant note in Mirage; they’re all there conjuring up a spirit quite mischievously fey. I love it and rue its discontinuation. However, there is a fragrance that smells remarkably similar not listed in Fragrantica’s database: AQueah Eve’s Revenge. AQueah is a talented Australian perfumer I discovered recently on Etsy and I own several of her fragrances that smell similar to more expensive fragrancs I cannot afford. If you too are mourning the disappearance of Mirage, try a sample of Eve’s Revenge!

Omg! I was seduced by the look of the bottle.. the Woman in enchanted green magic fairy night/Wood nymph..and then i found a sample from Somewere, only 4 ml just to try it before being ruined on eBay.. man was i owerwhelmed! It was even more than i expected.. i didnt have any idea about what it would smell like. Just so curious.. and it is otherwordly. It is like running with foxes in that forest with those green running long sleeve dress. I wish the life in the woods is like in this pictures of the bottle. Great artist creating this one, makes the fantasy RUN free! My first impression was cinnamon, the it instantly goes beyond, feminine soft warm inviting alluring flowering whispering and magnetizing. It has some character like poison-Hypnotic and midnight. A mix. Feels vintage and forgotten while it is a real treasure. Must find one and be ruined again… all this discontinuated perfums is making me crazy.

It’s been awhile since I first tried my small sample of this, but upon revisiting I am enchanted. Entranced. This smells sooo good. The silage is not as heavy as I wish but it Is so amazing and unique I feel like I may have to purchase an overpriced eBay bottle. Can’t imagine why this was ever discontinued.

I absolutely adore it! It’s completely unique for me. Green, green – deep deep green – and the most wonderful vetiver I’ve ever smelt, and I adore vetiver! I love this! It’s paradise for me! I feel like I’m in paradise. A divine, lush, intense aromatic paradise. My type of paradise. THIS is eucalyptus trees, in full lushness. I’m Australian – it’s a rich lush Australian bush on a wet day. Absolutely wonderful!!
And the bottle is the exact expression of it. It’s stunningly beautiful.
    ELEGANT. Superb. A dream!

You either love it or hate it. Very strong so go easy. It gets better after a couple of hours.

  13. :

This is the only “green” scent I’ve ever tried that I actually liked. Unfortunately it is very fleeting. No longevity whatsoever 🙁

  14. :

    5 out of 5

I can see why some people really despise this one. Anyone else ever get this? You smell something and you completely see how, if you chose to perceive it that way, something would fundamentally disagree with you. But you can also choose to focus on the pleasant aspects. I think this is the case with all perfumes – sometimes you simply cannot get past a certain note, and sometimes you can tap into both liking it and disliking it if you want.
Anyway, the elemi is… green, yes. But it is not an evergreen/fir/pine type of green. Nor a grassy green. It’s more of an eucalyptus type of green, for lack of a better descriptor. Midnight Poison appears a lot in previous reviews, and yes, there is some merit to that. However, as far as a Midnight Poison substitute, I am actually more drawn to Perles de Lalique. Time will tell if I choose to hold on to this unique beauty.

So glad I got a hold of a bottle. I love it!! I am a big Opium and Poison fan. This fragrance is neither but is its own spicy, green masterpiece. I have many perfumes and the last bottles I have used up were YSL Champagne and Gucci Rush. This bottle will be used up. I can already see it’s fate.
It looks to be discontinued. I believe it is the elemi note that has this scent now at the top of my list. I will be trying out some others with it. Lotto Gravity Woman looks interesting. Not a dupe of this as it isn’t green, but it looks likes a star.
Update. 12-11-16 I see the perfumer has been identified as Françoise Caron. I do have a few of her fragrances.

Blind bought this a while ago all the way from Poland. I was browsing eBay and since we don’t have Oriflame products here in Australia, this fragrance immediately sparked my curiosity, with that amazingly beautiful advertising campaign, and interesting notes and description; it completely lured me in, as I love all things to do with fantasy and fairy tales. It sounded really unique and magical.
This is definitely one strange and unique scent.
Mirage is basically a fresh and green vetiver bomb! Along with resin and sandalwood, it’s an extremely intense scent. It starts out with some citrus in the top notes, and the whole thing smells a bit medicinal, but in a good and natural way (I’m thinking that’s the Elemi).
I find it difficult describing the notes; but it’s very lush, elegant and deep, deep green. Like being in a lush rainforest, surrounded by tall trees and greenery everywhere.
I love the bottle and the fragrance; many times I walk past it just to have a sniff of this unusual composition. I haven’t found an occasion to wear this out to yet; perhaps in spring/summer would work better. This scent could also easily be unisex. Oriflame did a really great job with this one.
For those who asked if Mirage was similar to Midnight Poison; yes and no. They both share some strange characteristic (maybe the citrus, rose and amber?) but each fragrance is still completely different. So don’t go rushing out to buy this as a replacement for MP, or you’ll be disappointed. However it does have a weird “Poison vibe” to it, if you can call it that.
A great addition to my collection as I’ve never smelt anything like this before. Truly a “mirage”. The longevity on this green beast is insane, it’s so strong.
I’m talking 2 sprays maximum or you’ll kill someone!

  19. :

    3 out of 5

I wouldn’t exactly say that from the notes, but the reviews make me think that this may be similar to Midnight Poison (not a dupe, per se, but in feeling). Would you say its accurate? I have a almost full 100 ml bottle of Midnight Poison, but I am already on the lookout for something similar for the day I run out.

I crossed this today while lurking around my huge collection shelfs to grab some hidden treasure out of it.
And this one is it. As mentioned by another member, i tryied it out on my man and it s true, it can easely worn by a selfconfident and not too serious man.
the scent is really hard to describe.
The elemy note along with the sweet orange rose vanilla combo and bright shining jasmine, creamy ambar and earthy woods result in a strong sweet balmy little spicy aroma of luminous lush brightness and mysterious tender darkness.
It feels just like a picnic on a sunny day, with gingerbread cake and sweet orangjus on a mossy underground in a dark forest, when the rays of light peeking throug the woods, sizzling in your nose… Love it but it is way too special to wear this more often. guess for nights out it works for both genders.

This should be called Fairy or Alien. It’s a very strange perfume that smells unlike anything else. It’s very green and sparkly, like Yves Saint Laurant Yvresse except green. It’s very magical smelling, I can imagine Tinkerbell from Disney’s Peter Pan smelling like this. She would smell sparkly and leafy green like Mirage.
This perfume is like a person – you can either look for the good in it or the bad in it. If you look for the good, you will see the magical side of it, but if you look for the bad, it could smell like medicine.
Thankfully, I look for the good in it and see the magical side.
    I hope this helps, lol!

I love it. It was my signature fragrance for 4 years. It’s unique, woody and really mysterious. The longevity is insane. People always asked me what is that lovely smell ( especially man ;D ) Unfortunately, after 4 years I got bored with it. But I have to admit, I couldn’t find my new signature scent yet, because nothing beats Mirage so far 🙂

something very, very unique.l like it, l dont know why…it is just so strange, but no way annoying for me.l close my eyes ,when l smell it, it has a huge personality.it stands out of a crowd and you can not mislead it with other perfume.lasting power is pretty good.

It’s undoubtedly an unique scent. After all there are no fragrances in the section “This perfume reminds me of” so far. However this doesn’t mean that everyone will appreciate it. For me it is very, very medicinal. It reminds me of nasal drops made of pine and bitter mint oils. I am so surprised that this is a perfume!
All in all it IS exceptional and it will definitely not leave you indifferent… but try it before you buy it.

  25. :

The more I wear this the more I love it! Its like a walk through an old forest after the rain – dark and woodsy with a hint of fresh spice. Yet somehow its still quite feminine! Its warm and inviting and so unusual. Sillage is moderate, longevity excellent. A pain in the backside to get hold of, but well worth the effort, expecially for the price. Pretty bottle too (don’t pretend it doesn’t matter! 😉 )

  26. :

    3 out of 5

One of Oriflame’s masterpiece! Balsamic and woody oriental fragrance, strong and longlasting. It’s also mystical for me, like ancient balms blend together.
It’s a harmony of elemi, vetiver and rose, sweetened by amber. At the beginning I smell something completely different than the list of ingredients says – I smell dried plum and cinnamon. But after a while they both disappear and the strong scent of elemi appears on the scene. Balmy, a bit earthy, slightly sweet and I also smell something a bit menthol for a while? Elemi blends with rose and amber, these ingredient make the smell sweater, but not to much. It’s still about oriental balms, not about rose. Under these main layers the vetiver is hidden, it is noticeable and gives the fragrance solid base and makes it more earthy and interestnig.
Good for evening and night and during cold autumn and winter. I hope it won’t be “too much” for me, but I don’t think so. I’ll have to wait for chilly weather to fully enjoy Mirage. This composition makes me think about ancient temples and pagan priestess manipulating with the powers of nature…

Elemi and vetiver are so prominent. Strong, attractive & elegant are few of the messages that this perfume sends off of a woman wearing it, simply love it

  32. :

    3 out of 5

I received this yesterday and kept wondering what it reminded me of: on my skin I have nothing more nothing less than Basile pour femme, the vintage one, yet no clove and no cinnamon are listed among the notes. It all happens thanks to elemi, I love this: good staying power and projection, ideal as a winter perfume, recommended.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Once I smelled but it was overhelming too strong agressive.Too much for my taste.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

I honestly do not pick up the Poison reference one bit — It’s bitter, spicy, and medicinal…The elemi is a note I just can’t wrap my nose around at this time…
I’m still on the fence with this fragrance because of that one note…*sigh*

  35. :

    5 out of 5

Old woman scent. I don’t like it.
    And is very strong.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

This is Poison, it screams Poison so loud that it blows your mind. Sex in a bottle, just like Poison, harsh but sweet, seducing yet showing no mercy.
The best perfume I’ve ever got at this price. I don’t know what these Oriflame guys did, but it has come out as an absolute win.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

I know that big part thinking about this how about night out or winter scent, but I use this also in summer.
I love this because it is a sweet, likable, a bit sour, magical and something really very different.
I am very happy, because I got this!

  38. :

    3 out of 5

Who designs these Oriflame perfumes? They’re uniformly terrible.
Mirage is a cheap-smelling spicy blah that changes into a slightly spicy plasticky blah.
The bottle is absolutely beautiful though! Beautiful green and nice and round and heavy in the hand. I’d not normally keep a nice bottle if I hated the juice but I might make an exception for this one.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

It’s like 60% YSL Opium and 40% Poison. I’m getting a strong cinnamon-like smell, is that the elemi? A very spicy, sweet, somewhat gothic oriental but not for me.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

Aloha! I am totally loving Mirage……I have been searching for this fragrance for many years. It is so warm and comforting and it is like wearing your softest sweater and broken in jeans. All is right with the world when I am wearing this fragrance. I recently sampled the new fragrance,Hedonist, and think it smells very similar to Mirage but Mirage has much better longevity on my skin. In addition, Mirage is much less expensive.
I don’t think it smells “old ladyish” although I just turned 50. The only downside is that I live in Hawaii and Mirage isn’t probably the best-suited fragrance to our tropical climate.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

Way too sharp for me to wear it, I think it’s elemi that bothers me. One of my male friends said it’s a “grandma’s perfume”, but to it’s defence there’s something so interesting in this (besides the gorgeous bottle:). Crazy lasting power&sillage, one spritz is more than enough!

  42. :

    4 out of 5

Do you only like sweet gourmands and fruity florals? Yes? Well, then turn away now, because Mirage is FAR from being one of those kinds of fragrances. It’s strong, it’s heady, it makes a statement!
The notes I smell the most are the elemi, the vetiver, the amber, and the rose. These create a powdery, woody, and spicy start to the perfume. The citrus notes as a freshness to the fragrance to calm it down a bit, and the vanille adds a softness to blend everything together. This is certainly a very balmy and woody scent, and I do enjoy it when I’m in the mood for it.
I also believe that Mirage is very much a unisex fragrance. With all of the notes blended together, sometimes the perfume often makes me think of men’s shaving cream. If you’re more into unisex fragrances, then this might be something to look into!
I think the bottle is a very good representation of the fragrance, because it smells so … Green. The bottle is absolutely gorgeous and enchanting. It’s definitely a mature and rich-looking bottle.
This perfume has amazing sillage and lasting power. It stays on FOREVER. In my opinion, all you need is a single spray to get the point across! If you spray too much, you might kill someone, haha. I also recommend wearing this as a nighttime fragrance during the colder months of the year. I personally think it’s too strong for daytime wear.
Overall, this is a nice fragrance. It’s not one of my favorites, but I still quite like it. When I’m in the mood for wearing something different, I like to wear this perfume. It’s not one of my “go tos” though.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

Thanks to ALL of your reviews, both positive and negative, I now have Mirage. I am often drawn to spicy fragrances that are described as “heavy”, on the “sweet” side, and above all, with “lasting” power. Mirage is all of this and more.
Mirage is beautiful, soft spicy, smooth, strong, lasting, and bit tropical. The scent morphs and changes as you wear it…sometimes more sweetly floral, sometimes more dry spicy, sometimes more like ripe sweet oranges, sometimes more spicy deep dark amber and vanilla. Quite an interesting contrast of rich juicy citrus, dry vetiver grass and spices, all smoothed out with deep amber, vanilla and sandalwood…with soft floral rose and jasmine blended in to adding a pleasing, inviting feminine touch.
Elemi shines here…..elemi is a Phillipine Islands tropical tree resin that by itself, smells sweet, lemony-citrus and cinnamon spicy. Elemi reminds me of a mixture of sharp citrus and sweet pineapple blended with real sugar cane and cinnamon-like spice.
In Mirage, elemi is expertly blended with sweet orange and deep sweet mandarin orange, to smooth out the citrus aspect. Vetiver gives Mirage an underlying dry crispness that enhances and supports the spicy aspects of elemi. Sandalwood, amber, and vanilla add smooth body and staying power. Rose and jasmine add softness and femininity.
Like so many other fragrances, the first sprays of Mirage are super strong, heavy and pungent. But Mirage settles on skin into a soft but strong, very lightly powdery drydown that lasts until you wash it off.
Similarities to other fragances ? Yes….similar to Dior Poison, but without Poison’s heavy meaty plum accord. Similar to Kenzo Jungle Elephant’s smooth drydown in that the spices soften but remain present. Similar to Shalimar’s opening of sweet lemony citrus. And yes, Mirage is similar to ALL of these fragrances in strength, a little goes a long way, and all are equal in LASTING POWER.
Mirage is now one of my very favorites. Again, many thanks to ALL of you for your reviews !

Strangely this scent reminds me of Lana del Rey. Sad, dusty, ‘old’, complex, mysterious and in the meantime loving, fruity and soft. Dark and glamourous but not enough dark or glamourous for me – they are both unique and reflect wonderful quality though.

I am not normally compelled to comment on the bottles of things, but this one took my breath away. I can’t NOT come here and say that; it struck me as so beautiful and out of the ordinary. Not the shape, but the colors. It is so rare to see an emerald green bottle. If you see a green one, it’s usually paler, and indicating a fresh/green scent. I’m a sucker for gradients, so it got me on that front, as well. It is really gorgeous. I almost want to track this down just so I can see this on my shelf in my meager collection… not even to wear it, just to admire it.

  47. :

This is DEVINE. If it’s the elemi (I’m no expert) that makes it this spicy and mysterious, then I’m gonna go on an elemi perfume hunt! Absolutely gorgeous. Spicy, heavy, dark, sexy. So glad I obtained this little jewel.

A kind friend here sent me an extra sample vial containing this perfume. Oh I LOVE IT! I don’t find anything similar between this one and Love Potion, apart from the fact that they are both ‘thick’ scents (not some watered down fumes).
I too want a bottle if somebody else has it and wants to get rid of it! It’s one of the best perfumes I’ve smelled so far (yes yes, it resembles a nich perfume in my opinion). I live in Europe.
    About the perfume:
It’s a quite heavy and mature but not at all outdated perfume.
I’d swear there is a smoke leaf in it, or at least something creates a (sweet) smoky feeling, a sweet tobacco like scent (IMHO). This is all I get from this perfume and I LOVE IT!
Mysterious, enigmatic, sensual, well done perfume. It would make a lovely night perfume for a younger lady but can be also worn during the day and is suitable for mature women.

This smells like Yves Rocher “So Elixir” mixed with christmas spices and citrus. I also get massive amounts of tobacco/medicinal smelling patchouli in this.
VERY sharp and bitter. The aggressive design of he bottle suits the scent perfect.
    No thanks.

Our story began when I searched for a relatively cheap perfume which has elemi in it as one of its most significant notes. I realized that I’m really fond of the scent of elemi when I purchased a soap bearing the name of “Yogi” which referred to the mix of citruses (lemongrass, orange), patchouli and elemi oil as components, giving an authentic Indian impression. I was so excited that I bought it blind and what a great buy it was.
First of all, this is an incredibly heavy smell, you just have to spray it once or twice and you’re done for the day. Agree about causing headaches, you have to be very careful with the amounts. The sillage is extraordinarily good. Lasting power on clothes – 11/10. 🙂 But IMHO it smells better on skin, though you can combine the areas you spray on and enjoy the advantages of both.
Getting to the point, about the overall impression of the scent. More of you wrote it smells like Christmas, I definitely agree. But to be more precise, it smells like Christmas markets, when people consume cups of MULLED WINE and you can smell the cinnamon in the air. Absolutely lovable. But it’s the evaporation of the fragrance that floats around you in a quite sophisticated yet easily detectable way. Close to the skin it is much much more spicy, even a bit harsh. It’s like a very high concentrated poison, just a few drops and you’re knocked off. ^^
Obviously a winter perfume. I think it can be applied in the morning in small amounts, but it can make you the queen of the night for sure. At the moment it’s my favourite though I have to wait half a year to start to apply it.

  58. :

I was crazy enough to try it in the morning…I was sick instantly….very powerful stuff…much too powerful…

  59. :

so heavy one needs to put only one drop
Its suitable for winter and even at night
Firstly i didnt like it then when after 15 minutes i smell it and found it less heavy.

  60. :

    4 out of 5

I got a sample and I tried it – really heavy and unpleasant, it reminds me of a lotion ( medicine) for massaging your body when you catched a cold, I washed it with 4 different soaps and the smell was still there.

  61. :

    3 out of 5

This smells SO expensive for the price. It has a gorgeous richness that envelopes your senses for hours.
It makes me think of a delicious tropical fruit liquer or syrup,it’s balmy and calming but rich and sweet at the same time, and so different than anything I’ve ever smelled before.Lovely.

  62. :

The dry down is nice, elegant, but the opening and middle notes made me sneeze, gave others a headache, and a cough.

This is that kind of perfume that you like or dislike. It’s heavy, oriental and has the best silage(expensive perfume like). If u don’t measure the right amount of perfume on you it can get u headaches.I could smell it 3 days later on my clothes which is amazing for it’s price.
For me it was love at second sniff. I sprayed a little bit on my skin and a few hours later I realized that I can’t stop sniffing over and over again. It gave me the feeling of something mysteriously sexy going on on my skin. It felt right on me till then and I feel luxurious and powerful all day, wearing it.
Anyway it’s a winter perfume or night out that I can find very special on the right woman, in the right amount.

Mirage is like a hard punch to my nose. Elemi/sandalwood is what I get on my skin. This one does not go along with my skin at all. I’m glad I only bought a small sample -4 ml. I tried to wash it off but its still there, now 1 hour later it has soften a little bit and I can find a hint of a small similarity to Dior Poison..still – this will not be one of my favourites.

juicy mandarin floating on the ambery balmy elemy (honeylike) on top of a spiced rose with a warm woody base. reminds strongly to poison tendre but richer. smells a bit like christmas to me as well ;)))) simply beautiful for wintertime! longlasting and very nice sillage, a keeper!

This is a great one when compared with those expensive designer fragrances. This smells great and the lasting power is really good. The bottle is really nice too!!

I’ve had this perfume for so long unopened and decided to give it a try…well,it truly reminds me of the Poison family, and I don’t like that Copy&Past. Anyway, the smell kind of suits my skin in a soft and deep caress, and it stays long time there! Dark, deep, mysterious, and affordable, too.

Mirage…my latest blind buy…It’s rich, powerful, mysterious…suitable for late autumn and winter…I can’t imagine wearing it in summer…it’s certainly not for the shy ones..it’s not discreet…it knows how to make itself noticed…since I’m not a bold person…it’s not ME..although I did wear it at night…it’s making me nauseaous unfortunately…I’ll keep using it when I go out at night but I won’t buy it again…if you love Poison, you’ll love this one..a nicely done perfume by Oriflame…they usually surprise me in a good way…too bad it’s not for me

Very thick and rich, powerful, deep and saturated, full of melliferous sweetness and warm voluptuousness in combination with a light vintage bitterness that you can feel at the first moment. It gets more and more honeyed after some time. Not suitable for gentle, tender, mild, soft, lightsome and lovely beings, but for really impressive and self-sufficient autumn and winter woman with mystery. A fragrance with temper.

Update: On the paper this perfume is a pleasant mixture but on my skin it seems that a single synthetic note ruins it, sth that smells like coca cola…I don’t know if anybody else could smell it, Still I cannot say that I dislike the perfume…not at all…,but it smells much better on the paper than on my skin, what a pity!

I have a sample of this .At the begining its a very very strong rose smell but after like 30 min it becomes a sensual, spicy , musky and elegant scent . Its not an everyday fragrance its more clasy like for a dinner 🙂

I just got this like 30 minutes ago. So far I don’t like it. It’s sooooo sweet and sooo Dior Poison I actually had to take a good hard look at the bottle to be sure it’s not the Poison.

I got this one today and I really like it. I guess perfume likes and dislikes differ very much per season – if I had tried it in spring time I would not have found it so appealing but as it`s right the middle of autumn now this perfume is just perfect to envelop you in a warm, encouraging aura, it kind of keeps you warm through the cold and dark season. For me too, this perfume reminds of Christmas, it brings winter holiday festive feelings. I really like this one.

I adore this perfume, a nice combination of spices softened by fruits…sexy…a little dark, sweet, rich, not boring at all, extremely long lasting…I can smell it on my wrist even after a shower, high quality, no smell of alcohol and chemicals. I bought it blindly on ebay very cheap and I would say the quality is like the most expensive brands and even better. The bottle is very gorgeous too.
I don’t think it is old fashioned, but a male friend of mine who actually dislikes perfumes told me that it is sth that his grandmother would wear…But I don’t care, this stuff is precious for those who understand it and appreciate its beauty.
For me mirage stands somewhere between the classics and modern perfumes, though maybe closer to a classic.
Edit: Forgot to say it smells like Christmas time 🙂

One of best Oriflame’s fragrances, still not mine. Too sad, too introvert, as if the person who wore it could not speak. Claustrophobic a bit. Still interesting, just very tiring for me and somehow very salty on my skin.
    Vetiver, elemi
