This fragrance keeps me calm. It’s not stunning, but comforting. Perfect for a pillow on a rainy day with a book.
Unfortunately, the toppy cardamom is fleeting to nonexistent. The mimosa is creamy, milky, and tonka waxy; sadly minus the green elements of the fresh flower. Violet, metallic muguet notes work well atop some slight violet leaf, cucumber undertones. The heliotrope dry down pairs well with the tonka, vanillic sweetness.
Overall, it’s not worth the price, but, if you must, it will warm you up when you don’t know what to wear.

I bought a full bottle of this after testing it on my arm for a day. Mimosa & Cardamom really surprised me. The opening to this is floral and milky, probably from the mimosa top note. After a half hour or so, it settles into a full-bodied Cardamom, green and spicy. The Tonka bean peeps out. But I love the drydown, after about 2 hours, when the Tonka bean finally appears. Vanilla and spice.

I find nothing grandma-like in this fragrance. I’m 34 and I adore this fragrance! I will start by saying that I LOVE the warm/fresh spicy feel to this scent. It is also aromatic/clean floral at the same time. This one is kind of difficult to describe, but, that is one of the reasons I love it. If I were forced to try to describe it, I would say that it is a crisp & clean floral. The floral freshness almost hints at the smell of lavender, but it isn’t. This has that same fresh spicy vibe to it that Mon Guerlain does in my opinion. They don’t smell alike, but if you’ve smelled MG(my all time fav) then you know what I mean. Closing my eyes, I imagine a bright cloudless blue sky but with a bit of wind, while laying in a patch of mimosa with the freshly washed sheets aroma softly lingering nearby. I find this to be truly unisex. Anyone can wear this and it is not offensive so it can be worn nearly anywhere.
I have become a Jo Malone Fangirl after this being my 4th Jo Malone bottle and I have loved every single one, but this one along with Redcurrant and Cream, have made me want everything by Jo Malone. 🙂

I fully agree with @souix although i dont hate the smell, it smell just like my granma in the 90’s. I could picture her easily.
I wont buy it for this, as is the scent of granma but a very nice smell.

    This was a huge disappointment.
It smells like 1960’s grandma red lipstick. Really atrocious to me. If anyone remembers what Jergens hand lotion smelled like it sort of has that almond edge. Just awful to me.
I have ever smelled mimosa flowers that smell like this stuff.

The trick with Jo Malone is you have to spend some time testing them as at first most seem lovely, but you need to spray on your skin and on a paper….walk around, take the paper home, and see how you feel about it in a few hours or even the next day. I sampled so so many which I was ready to buy at the store, but after the “test period” glad I didn’t. For the price you pay for Jo Malone….you need to invest your time before making a decision.
This one is lovely. Mimosa is very present…more so than cardamom. I would even say that I don’t smell any cardamom at all, but the scent has that “edge”, which I guess is given by the cardamom. The scent is not sweet, it is warm, powdery, very cozy. I would put it in the Donna Karan Cashmere Mist category….if you like that sort of smell, you will like this one. But Cashmere Mist eventually turns into a powdery old lady scent, whereas Mimosa and Cardamom stays fresh and powdery without smelling like grandma. Yes there is that element of “clean” that many reviewers have pointed out. Clean, fresh, powdery goodness. And it seems to last longer than many Jo Malones. I don’t think this one is unisex, it is definitely on the feminine side for me.

Im not a fan of Jo Malone… but I love mimosa and like this fragrance. Over the years I have sampled many of JM’s scents, and my two issues were always longevity and depth. Being a company that makes mostly colognes, it’s to be expected. I just never thought the price tag warranted the purchase.
Mimosa & Cardamon is one dimensional so it’s a perfect scent for layering. I think it’s really comforting and easy to wear. Longevity is better than average for this house – I get about 1.5 hrs then it’s gone (no trace of it is left). I don’t think my 30ml bottle is going to make it through the summer though, and regret not spending extra for the larger size. This one is fleeting but it’s so pretty!
*Edit I wore this yesterday in early summer, and the scent stayed with me for an impressive 6+ hours. My husband came home after work and commented that he liked it when he got within a few feet. So this one works best in warm weather on me. Really happy to have discovered this scent. It’s an easy one to love.

I do love Mimosa and here I find the Mimosa to be dominant in a lovely way. Just a touch of Cardamom and Tonka makes the Mimosa shine almost alone. I love Summer by Kenzo – they are not alike – but the note of Mimosa is dominant in both scents in a really good way. A scent for springtime, I think.

Meh. I usually love Jo Malone but this so, so underwhelming. It is like VS Angel and Guerlain’s Champs Elysees. It is a pleasant, fairly bland floral but just not enough of…something. Dimension? Warmth? I was hoping to get some of the cardamom or tonka bean but it is just mimosa. Hmmmmm… I don’t even like mimosa for brunch.

    Love Love Love!
One of Jo Malone scents that are wearable by itself.
I live, eat, breath Cardamom so this a real blessing for my nose and mind. Very relaxing and fresh scent.
Adds a warm twist when mixed with other perfumes.
    Amazing.

very mimosa heavy on me and that is good as I like this note. But perhaps not best to chance it as blind buy. On similar vibe to Poeme by Lancome but where Poeme is nostalgic and powdery, Mimosa & Cardamom is playful, spicy and more wearable. This is an all-year-round perfume, in my opinion, and also suitable for any occasion, although I was more inclined to reach for it in summer days and early autumn. Newer Malone perfumes tend to have poor longevity & silage on me but this one is an exception and lasts 4-6 hours on me. I will be repurchasing in the future.

PSA: Mimosa & Cardamom is heavy on the Iso E Super. I perceive that smell as fuzzy/scratchy/itchy if it’s too prominent, which it unfortunately is here. Other than the Iso E, this scent is sweet and hazy, a tad soapy, uncomplicated but not especially elegant. One of Jo Malone’s stronger and longer-lasting colognes, it lasted on the backs of my hands through a hand-washing.

  15. :

    3 out of 5

Mimosa & Cardamom is a very lovely fragrance which in my opinion, smells almost identical to Victoria’s Secret Heavenly. Jo Malone is little spicier and soapier though. They both have cardamom, powdery notes, and rich and creamy sandalwood. Heliotrope and sandalwood are not listed above, but are definitely there. They are both very gentle, sweet, woody fragrances. Heavenly is a little less expensive, so if you’re curious, give it a try and see for yourself.

I love this, almost too much that is has caused more buying, such as the candle, the body cream and a 100ml bottle after I went through the 30ml rather quickly.
This is so creamy, soft, sophisticatedly sweet and I feel it has that summery feel to it, although I wear this in winter and summer and in between. It is beautiful.
This does last well on me, I can smell it after a day at work but it stays close. I love to pair this with the wood sage and sea salt by Jo Malone to make it warmer. I pair it with Tonka and Myrrh for a deeper night time scent. On its own or layered a top favourite.

This smells good on both women and men. The first time I smelled it a man was wearing it and I never forgot how wonderful he smelled. I then went to the store and tried it on me. This fragrance is enrapturing. When I smell it I am immediately transported to Europe. There is something special and mystical about this scent. As I said, both men and women can wear it and when people smell you it is unforgettable.

Reminds me of Hermes Jardin apres la mousson but more potent.
Anyway this is woody and sweet, and projecting af rn. The cardomon could be more intense. I like this but think it might be a bit too sickly sweet durting Christmas in Australia – starting to get a BO vibe from the dank spicy floral 😛
There is a woody/ ceder elent missing from the table above – unless I am totalty misinterpreting the tonka note. I want to investigate further…

I don’t get spicy from this at all, I get a soapy, crisp “yellow” scent, that feels like a warm summer breeze. I wanna stand in a sunflower field with the last rays of August sun in my back, dancing and playing First Aid Kit songs on an acoustic guitar.

This Mimosa and Cardamom is my signature perfume. I prepaired perfume with Cream, too.
This perfume is not dizzy like when you spray chemical(factory) perfume. Clean and very divertic attractive scent. I think “scent” is another making “communication” with other people and it’s like fashion- clothing, grooming… to express myself.
It is important i choose right perfume for me, but it is most important to enjoy the scent.
I’m sure this m&c is my center perfume.
*I combine with another scent(it is secret! ), also make more maximalize image and very fancy. I luv it.

I tried this in jo malone york, my husband was in high spirits and said I could have one but I said no because I couldn’t justify him spending so much when I have loads of perfumes. I kept sniffing my wrist and loved the soapy warm cardomon scent so much. I ended up perfume parlouring it (which turns out is a really good copy)

Delicious, feminine and comforting. This is by far the most delightful Jo Malone on my skin. It lasts all day on me and draws instant compliments. I was in a meeting this morning wearing this beauty and someone beside me leaned in for a long sniff. My favourite combination is with Tonka and Myrrh.

My mother received a nearly empty bottle from a friend. I was lucky enough to sample and promptly fell in love. I’m not a floral kind of girl, I wear more incense based perfumes. This is clean and wearable without being that typical shower fresh we’ve been bored to death with. Make no mistake, it’s a floral. It’s just not so much that you smell like a whole garden. Simple, clean, and pleasant. No sharp edges. I loved it so much, I took my mom’s bottle! So now I’m a thief, but a great smelling one. Sorry not sorry.

This is such a spring day scent, driving through the country side in CA with the hills lined in wild mustard. Its bright and clean, but on me not so sweet. But my skin does that to most perfumes. I don’t get a masculine vibe at all. If my husband wore this I would think he was probably also wearing my panties…

Member dannysmom had sent me a sample of this in 2015 for me to sample. Thank you again! 🙂 I was somewhat dismissive of this because of all the mimosa in it. I mean, it’s a mimosa bomb! So, I tucked away my sample and thought “Meh, it’s ok, but I don’t think it’s for me.”
Fast forward to present day. I was going through my samples and found this one. I thought I’d spray it on me and retry it now that the weather is warmer. Wow, the temp does make a difference with this one! I still get the mimosa, but now I can smell the spiciness of the cardamom and the warm tonka. After it settles, it becomes sweeter on me. I can totally relate now to everyone saying it’s a comfort scent; it really is! This definitely works better on days that are a bit warmer, at least for me. It’s much more spicy and sweet, and a bit cozy too. This lasts over eight hours on my skin and sillage is moderate. So, I took the plunge and ordered it. I’m glad I gave it another try!

Light and inoffensive. On me, the cardamom was elusive, only mimosa.

Definitely on my list for spring!!a friend sent me a purse spray, and I like it, fresh, the cardammon isn’t overdone, good thing as I usually dislike that note, it mixes in nicely with the mimosa, never taking center stage…this is such an interesting fragrance, feminine, airy, yet warms up nicely in the base…not sure I would wear it in our freezing cold weather, but at the end of winter, I am buying a bottle! Not overall sweet to me, let’ S just say it has a natural sweetness
High quality like Malone does, this is a fresh warm floral, full of personality., yet simple!!..nice!!

Love this scent! Warm, sweet ,inviting and comforting. Yes a complete comfort scent. I smell the tonka very strong in here ,gives this so much warmth and a vanilla almond note.
The mimosa is made so warm and fuzzy like a cottonball with the tonka and cardamom , just so inviting and positive. A cuddle scent. A mood booster and a compliment getter all in one.
It’s like a fresh warm vanilla scent with a definite mimosa note , childlike and playful ,Just wonderful !
I had a compliment on this , my friend said , you smell really good !
That’s when I decided to get it 🙂
    Update :
Wearing this a lot and absolutely love it !
Other sites show heliotrope ( vanilla smelling flower ) and sandalwood as well as rose, in addition to the notes mentioned here already.

This is a very sweet and floral scent that soothes and relaxes you as only a fragrance can do. The Jo Malone fragrances are like Demeter Fragrance line perfumes but with longevity! They are simple and uncomplicated scents that should please you as there is something for everyone. I happen to love mimosa and this is a really well made mimosa fragrance. It opens with a ginger-cardamom, spicy but sweet at the same time, and it quickly blossoms into a mimosa yellow floral scent. It smells a bit like citrus might be involved here too or at least an orange blossom. It’s light, fresh, and delicious and best of all it becomes a vanilla cream toward the dry down. It’s definitely vanilla in the form of Tonka bean. A very easy to wear scent, perfect for spring and summer months. It matches up with sundresses and sarongs and shorts/tops. I put a little on my neck and cleavage. Smells great!

This is my comfort scent whenever I feel the tiniest bit stressed out. The warmth of this scent helps me to calm down and concentrate. I love layering it with the French Lime Blossom for the weekend for an extremely classy & feminine scent. Super amazing when layered with their new Basil Neroli to complete the bouquet. Quite long-lasting, at least 7 hours.

Yes Moh92! This is a carbon copy of a perfume from the body shop, it was called Tobacco Flower. I can’t find that perfume on this site but it was my signature scent for a while.
I’ve only smelled this one once, and it’s quite identical to Tobacco Flower… I got a sample vile so I want to wear it a few more times before I give a better review. Love these scents though, great for a fall season which just started. Spicy and unique…

i LOVE this. Mimosa & Cardamom is powdery, slightly floral, warm and sweet… but light. not heavy at all. it’s cozy/gentle, yet sensual. at first the spritz on the tester strip was an overwhelming baby powder, but within 15 minutes, the warmth, sweetness, and tiny hint of spice emerged. i bought the body cream because i didn’t want to commit to the spray. but, after wearing the cream for a couple of days, i now want the spray! i keep sniffing my arms. haha.

What a surprising and comforting scent!
First blast was all cardamom, and that lasted a few minutes.
After the spice got softer, it was straight-up Play Dough on me, with hints of cardamom. (I love the way Play Dough smells.)
Then, about 15 minutes in, the mimosa-cherry blossom (think Champs Elysees Guerlain) comes peeking through.
Final stage: it’s like the Angel Innocent creamy~fluffy~spicy version of Champs Elysees.
It’s a very tenacious little blanket of a scent, but I don’t think it has much sillage. I love it, and just added it to my wish list.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

Very delicate scent, almost like a baby cologne, it did not seem spicy at all to me, it feels more powdery floral than anything. very linear and lasts next to nothing on me, so for the price, this one is a no.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

This scent smells absolutely nothing like I expected. There’s more honey, less spice, and quite a bit of powder. The scent is a sort of odd mix of notes. There are spicy notes, but they don’t smell like cardamom. Rather, they’re more generic. The non spicy elements (the mimosa, presumably) smells like a combination of powdery and aquatic notes. The powder is not the good kind of powder. I love powdery notes in some cases (violet is one of my very favorite scents), but this smells like rancid baby powder. I’m sad because this scent sounded so amazing, but in reality it’s not that great.

  43. :

I love mimosa and was so excited when this was released. I went to bed at night dreaming of warm, creamy spicy goodness. Well, I finally tried this at Nordstrom today and … I really hate to make this comparison but this smells exactly like bath and body works’ pink cherry blossom lotion. I don’t smell any cardamom, don’t get any spice. This is a linear pretty scent but nothing like the intriguing, unexpected fragrances I’ve come to expect from Jo Malone.
I’ve had this on my wrist for about three hours now and this scent has not evolved in any way. Projection is moderate. And yes, it still smells like a 3 for $27 deal. I can’t justify spending over a hundred bucks for this. Save your money and slather on some cherry blossom lotion instead.

I adore this new addition to Jo Malones collection. I just can’t get enough of it. It’s has such a nice familiar feel to it, I can’t pin point exactly what or where it reminds me of. But whatever it is, it’s a very happy familiar feel to it. It’s such a warm, welcoming happy scent. It instantly transports me into a good mood. It’s not a strong scent but yet the warmth of the fragrance keeps waffling up and reminding me that it’s there going strong. I’ve received many compliments on this little gem. On me it’s soft, creamy, spicy with a touch of sweetness. I pair it with English Pear and Freesia to add sweetness once in a while but honestly it’s so beautiful on it’s own.

I am new to Jo Malone perfumes and this was my first sample. It smells lovely. It is a nice change from what I typically wear. About an hour after spraying it reminds me of both ‘Ellen Tracy’ EDP mixed with Body Shop ‘White Musk’. Very clean scent, that is not overpowering.

  46. :

On paper, this is an instant love for me. However, on me, it’s a very strong dislike. Not sure what happened, but it seems to have turned rancid on my skin. Smells like baby wipes on me, and not in a good way.. Very odd, never had that happen before.

I love this latest addition to Jo Malone’s perfume range.
As an owner of the JM’s Blackberry and Bay, and Blue Agave and Cacao scents, I was very happy to receive a sample of this last year.
As I have stated in my reviews for Blackberry and Bay, and Blue Agave and Cacao, this Mimosa and Cardamom scent is, for me, another of Jo Malone’s ‘perfectly partnered’ creations.
The scent is gorgeous, and was ideal to promote over the Christmas 2015 period.
As soon as I applied the scent to my skin, the gorgeous golden fumes arose, spicy and warm, floral and cosy.
The cardamom is beautifully sweet and spicy, drawing the warm glow of mimosa into full swing.
The base note of tonka furthers the longevity.
I love this scent; it would suit anyone with aspirations to be a Luxurious Bohemian, or smell like the prettiest liquid gold.

  50. :

May be it is my body chemistry, but Jo Malone does not work well with me. I did not smell mimosa at all, and cardamon was very plain. I mostly smelled warm milk with honey cardamon mix on me, stayed only 2 hours, very weak. Not a mimosa I would pick.

  51. :

    4 out of 5

Sweet honeyed mimosa with minimal cardamom, which is a shame and a missed opportunity. I think the cardamom peeks out a bit more in the drydown, but it’s barely there at all up front. When it is present, it’s a very “soft” cardamom, like it has already been baked into bread with other ingredients. Otherwise, like most JM fragrances, it’s straightforward and light.

  52. :

    5 out of 5

Warm, safe and comforting. At first, I felt it was too feminine and flowery for a man. But after wearing it for 20 minutes, it’s like a cleaner version of Hypnose Homme by Lancôme, which is a more aggressive cardamom scent (it actually knocks your socks off during the first few hours – a real 80s style powerhouse fragrance although it’s from 2007).
I bought Hypnose for how it smells after several hours, but with Mimosa & Cardamom I can have that softer drydown directly out of the bottle 🙂 On me M&C has really decent staying power – I still pick it up after 12 hours.
The scent is like sunscreen on the beach in the afternoon, enveloping and relaxing. I also pick up indian soap, chai with full fat milk, and cardamom bun. It’s a cool and crisp cardamom, not spicy or exotic, although there is a very slight undertone of cumin, which helps it blend with the scent of your own skin.
I freshen it up with Blackberry & Bay or warm it up with Wood Sage & Sea Salt, two Jo Malone fragrances that have the same immediately appealing, huggable quality as M&C. And they both manage to subdue the slight floweriness of M&C, which makes the fragrance easier to wear, and last longer too.

  53. :

    3 out of 5

LOVE this, so much that I needed to use capital letters. Opens gently spicy and dries down into lovely sweet mimosa with a touch of creamy vanilla. However, I must add that the longevity is dreadful! I find myself spraying throughout the day much more than anything else I wear. Which isn’t a bad thing in terms of how much I like the opening, but it is in terms of my wallet. I have already decided that I don’t want to miss out on smelling this on demand!
Incidentally, it’s nice layered with Wood Sage and Sea Salt, which seems to help it last a bit.

  54. :

This was a blind buy for me because I loved the idea of the cardamom as top note. Maybe it’s just on my skin but like some other reviewers I do not smell much cardamom, only sometimes slightly in the beginning then it disappears. It’s overall quite a strong, clean, soapy scent so if this is what you like, then it’s perfect for cooler Autumn or Springtime. Mimosa and Cardamom strangely reminds me of another Jo Malone scent that I used to have, French Lime Blossom although I don’t quite know why.

    “Mimosa & Cardamom” Jo Malone – 10.02.2015
“Mimosa & Cardamom” by Jo Malone starts with a certain inspiration but gradually ends up somewhere else. If you happen to like that “somewhere else,” of course, you’re in luck.
The perfume opens up with a powdery mimosa note. Quickly, the cardamom kicks in (although, I rather detect a cumin note than a cardamom note).
The mimosa note fades almost instantly and I am left with a soapy/powdery/floral blend. After about 45 minutes to an hour, the perfume vanishes completely and doesn’t even have a lingering end on me.
The scent is very subtle and stays very close to the skin. I need to press my nose on my wrist and inhale deeply to feel it. The longevity is not good on me; it lasts for about an hour. I am also surprised that it is classified as a unisex perfume. I feel it more as a women’s perfume instead.
Due to the fact that this fragrance does not translate on my skin as a mimosa & cardamom scent but more as a powdery/floral scent and considering that the longevity is not good, I personally would not recommend it especially for its price.
    Thank you for reading
    Enjoy the perfume quest.
    Josephine

“Mimosa & Cardamom captures the bohemian spirit. Modern and mesmerising, evocative and sensual.” That is how Jo Malone describes the perfume. It’s top note is cardamom, middle note mimosa and base note Tonka beans.
But for me it’s not modern. It’s classical. It reminds me of the spice markets of Asia in early morning after a night of torrential rain. It is a woman in her prime, dressed in a flowing yellow dress, strolling in the open air market, among the woven baskets full of cardamom, some still green, and grabbing a handful, raising them up to her face and then taking a long, slow breathe before releasing them slowly back through her slender fingers, letting go of the pods gracefully back into the basket and watching them mingle with the masses, one by one. And then she’s gone. Vanished into the crowds. Leaving a faint memory of what was before.
Mimosa and Cardamom is just that. Creamy, green, spicy and beautiful. It’s there and then suddenly not there. It didn’t last on me. It left me nostalgic. It left me hungry for more.
Would I buy it again? Most definitely yes.

so perfect for autumn. romantic. poetic. ever so slightly melancholy. sensual. outdoorsy. a sunset viewed through golden leaves.

I just smelled this in a fashion magazine at the grocery store… Oh, my god, is this stuff good!! I had to walk back to the isle where the magazine was to smell it again. I stood there for at least 5 minutes, hungrily inhaling the deliciousness of this scent. Lately, I am leaning towards the more unisex perfumes. I’m so tired of the sugary sweet scents… This has a gorgeous feminine appeal, but I also get the no nonsense, confidence of the masculine side, which I totally love. Embracing the ‘masculine’ in me. We’ve all got both sides in us, do we not? Anyway, I’ll come back to to this page to do a proper review once I snag a bottle of my own. Because, oh, trust me… I’m buying a bottle of this!
EDIT: I read some reviews that said this is a barely there scent- which I can attest to Jo Malone fragrances being just that… One of them I tried was, anyway. I think I’ll buy a sample size first to test it out for myself. Obviously, a sample on paper really isn’t going to tell me what I need to know.

I have a large perfume wardrobe but this is my first encounter with Mimosa. I love the sunny, golden, happy radiance of it, which is only enhanced by the rich warmth of cardamom. I’ve only had it on for an hour but I find the sillage to be more than adequate so far (almost a foot with two sprays on the back of my hand). On the other hand I have layered it with Le Labo’s Labdanum 18, a match made in heaven, IMHO. Will have to update later regarding longevity. This was a most blissful blind buy. I’m diggin’ it!
Edit: Still present after 7 hrs with projection approx 3 inches.

I’ve had a similar experience to the reviewer below.
Mimosa is also one of my favorite notes and I’m a fan of spicy fragrances. I’ve also really enjoyed JM’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey, so I had my hopes up for this one.
It does smell very good, but it’s barely there. Period. What I can smell, I like, but I do wish it at least gave me the wear of a body splash. The JM layering selling point is fun and all, but buying three or four fragrances to do the job that one, well-balanced fragrance could do… well… I’m not sold.
I do enjoy this when I press my nose to my skin, but if only it had more oomph!

I was SO EXCITED for this new release from Jo Malone. There are a few JMs I like a great deal (such as Pomegranate Noir, Red Roses, French Lime Blosson (Linden/Tilleul) and Vanille & Anise) but overall the line is generally nice in a mostly realistic and natural manner.
Mimosa is one of my favorite notes. I have L’Artisan Mimosa Pour Moi, Parfums de Nicolai Mimosaique and anything that even approaches a prominent mimosa note such as Guerlain Champs Elysees and Bond No. 9 Fashion Avenue. If you have any of these I just listed there is no need for the Jo Malone Mimosa…unfortunately.
I’m so surprised by many of the reviews below, because clearly everyone experiences fragrances quite differently, especially with your own skin chemisty. On me, this has ZERO spice, ZERO cardamom and it’s definitely NOT soapy.
What Mimosa and Cardamom is to me, is a very light and delicate mimosa scent, greenish, very natural and realistic and beautiful for about 10 minutes and then it vanishes….I can’t detect any scent after about 30 minutes. It’s a pretty mimosa scent, straight mimosa no spices at all, for 30 minutes and then it’s gone. I purchased a bottle and I like it enough to re-apply and I’ve taken to spraying my clothes with it in case it holds to fabric better (it does) but I was definitely hoping for more intense mimosa with much more obvious spices. Oh, well. It’s pretty and it’s definitely a much better fragrance than all those celebrity fruity-florals or gooey gourmands on the market so I’ll give it to Jo Malone for taking on such a lovely combination of scents with Mimosa and Cardamom — it’s an inspired idea and the scent does smell good, just not as robust or interesting as I had hoped. This could be a fragrance for people who don’t like synthetic type “perfumey-perfumes” because it’s so light, unobtrusive, natural and easy going. Definitely office friendly.

I tried on this when I went to the launch event. On me, the opening was warm, woody and spicy and after about an hour, it became soft, sweet and powdery. On paper, it became very soapy quickly but I’m pleased it smelt less soapy on me and more powdery. The SAs suggested layering it with wood sage & sea salt and english pear & freesia. I feel mimosa & cardamom is a good layering fragrance because when I tried it mixed with some of the other JM fragrances that I didn’t like much, they smelt much better to me. For example, I don’t like english pear & freesia on its own but together with m&c, I like. At the moment I’m not sold on wearing m&c on its own but overall, I like this one.
