Zara Orange Zest is part of their 2017 summer collection and the more interesting entry, involving a tart orange smell that lightly hints at orange juice while involving hints of a few other florals and musk.
It reminds me somewhat of Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine, though not as sweet and juicy, and serves, at $20-30/100ml, as decent substitute for the Atelier despite clearly not being quite as full and satisfying.
Performance is mediocre, as one might expect. It has nice projection for 30-60 minutes and dies down pretty steadily therafter, being a skin scent in perhaps the fourth hour on me.
Only ephemerally available (like most Zara fragrances) in stores last year, but a nice one to pick up if you have a chance.

Like the name says “Orange Zest” tells everything about this fragrance 🙂 .
Very Zesty and i had a solid performance for this fragrance for what i paid , 9.95€ for this and Deep Fougere.
And have a soapy vibe in the drydown.

It’s still on the Zara website, about 70 in stock currently. Check under ‘Special Prices’ in the left side menu instead of under ‘Fragrances’, it only shows up there. 🙂

Doesn’t seem to be available on the Zara website any longer. Found two bottles of this in the Zara store and was told that it’s a discontinued item. I offered to buy both bottles but the store employee refused to sell them because the bottle didn’t have a bar code. I even called the company to find out more about purchasing this fragrance but was told that they had to trash the bottles instead of selling them. What a shitty, wasteful business practice!

Best Gym scent I can think of – so energetic and revitalizing!

If it actually smelled like original Dior Homme Sport, then I did a huge mistake by skipping this fragrance, not even trying it at Zara store, I have seen it so many times…

OuDammit missed this beauty is it still available it’s not online anymore. I’ve only purchased zara edp fragrances which have been truly amazing.

For me this could be a clon of Big Pony 4 from Ralph Lauren but with poor longevity. A really nice cheapie for summer.

Green Orange Zesty scent without orange in the notes. Quite marvelous and inexpensive fragrance.
I liked it so much that I bought 2 bottles for €20.00 (the pair).
It’s quite similar to Terre d’Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche.

It looks like Zara is not making good fragrances by chance.
This frag is an amazing summer fragrance. I tried it in a Zara Store at 10:00 ( 3 sprays – back of my hand). By dinner time I could still smell it.
It really opens with a bitter orange scent that lasts for ages. The top notes last for 1 hour at least (actually done by addition of lemon and ginger notes).
Usable sillage (1~2 feet) lasts for 4~5 hours and Longevity lasts for 8~9 hours (skin surface); fantastic lavender-musk-vétiver dry down.
I don’t really consider it a clone of any other perfume. It’s plain Zara Orange Zest and an extraordinary scent.
I must return to Zara ASAP to buy a bottle of it.
    EDIT 1 🙂 bought 2 bottles for 18 Euros
EDIT 2 – This frag is awesome. It is not a clone or even similar to any frag I know for that matter. Yes I get vibes of some fresh fragrances from Dior, and also from Hermes, Chanel and Guerlain. Without the Zara label this EDT could be mistaken as a very expensive new niche fragrance if its brand name was Creed, Byredo, Amouage, ….
I must return to Zara ASAP to buy 2 bottles more.
EDT – The more I use it, the more I like it. It does present me with similar vibes (similar but different) from other well known fragrances.
In my opinion the the greatest similarity occurs with Dior Homme Sport.

This is my most worn fragrance for the summer.
On the initial blast you get this citrusy scent blended well with ginger. The scent pretty much stays linear and I think the vetiver is used as a fixative in this scent. The fragrance could have used a more stronger base and some spices for more depth. I like this scent a lot. The sillage is soft and projection is moderate for an hour then it just sits close to the skin for 7 hours. A pretty nice release from ZARA.
Could be worn by women also.

Wearing at the moment on my right wrist… right now it’s on 4 hr mark and can heavily smell it while typing this (so maybe 2 feet distance?). I’d say performance is very good.

God I love this one. Simply have to write about it some more. Cant stop smelling it but I am so so sad this is so weak. I can put a whole bottle on myself… its gone within 2 hours and projection is okay for the half an hour. I dont know if I should get it cuz only I can enjoy it, cuz others cant smell it on me. If only this had strenght, it would be signature worthy. Maybe the worst performing frag out of all I tried. That includes new la nuit and lhomme and some others thar are weak like the one edt.

    like, Wake up call.
    Fresh, energetic, citrusy scent.
It is not unique or sillage monster but perfect for office wearing or daily use.
There is no orange in notes but it smells like green orange.
    Longevity 6/10
    Sillage 4/10
    Scent 7/10

I actually stand by my review. Yes a lot of Zara fragrances are dupes. I own both the Terre d’hermes fraiche and Zara versions of this fragrance & I can honestly say that having paid five times the price for the Terre d’hermes, on my skin at least this and many other Zara fragrances have a comparable longevity and silage, especially when the price is taken into consideration. At the end of the day any review is going to be personal and subjective. But to say that they have zero projection & longevity is in my opinion quite ridiculous :-/

  18. :

    3 out of 5

People are going bat-shit over ZARA merely because of the low prices.
ZERO projection. ZERO longevity. So you are paying for 25 seconds of the first initial spritz out of the bottle. GET A GRIP folks.
P.S. Most of the ZARA dry downs smell just like “Imposter Fragrances” — which are lousy !

I purchased this & ‘Summer Collection Zara’ together recently from my local Zara store. On testing in the store (one squirt from each on each hand) I found them to be very similar, sharp orange / citrus burst on opening, not dissimilar to the smell one gets from having just peeled a fresh orange ! But as they both dried down, I found that this (Orange zest) had a very similar vibe to ‘ Terre d’Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche’, which I like incidentally .. & Summer collection’s dry down was very similar to ‘Boss Bottled Unlimited’. Silage is pretty good & lasted on my skin for around 3 hours, then lasted as a pleasant skin scent for a further 3 hours. I’d say that if you like ‘Eau Tres Fraiche’ you will almost certainly like this as a cheaper alternative. I own both and tend to use ‘Tres Fraiche’ around my neck & collar, and ‘Orange Zest’ as a complimenting body mist elsewhere ! I’ll certainly be buying again when this juice has gone :o)

@Romain shk 17 shots of ANY perfume on someone is a CRIME against the people around them! Please, be more considerate!

This scent reminds me of a perfume a nurse wears. It smells feminine the second time around. At first I like it but now I wouldn’t bother with it. Within one hour like all Zara fragrances disappears. It has poor performance and that’s sad. If you could double the formula you could easily double the price. Zara fragrances are of no quality. That’s all you need to know.

In 2016 there’s Zara Vetiver, have an opportunity to snift it but sadly I was missed to get it.
And now this Orange Zest, try it some…. dejavu! It’s the 2016 Vetiver, smells just the same. Citrusy vetiver, very versitile and nice, all occasions. So glad that I can get it now.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

    I get a similarity to Guerlain’s L’Homme Ideal Cologne.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

Orange zest? I get a tart lemon with lavender and a hint of vetiver. Not much depth with this juice. It does however have a nice fresh smell, but is extremely weak. You will have to reapply several times throughout the day so bring a decant with you. Definitely not worth $20 IMO. If you can get it at less than $14 – $15 buy it…

Guys guys… i found out the cure,2 weeks ago i tested it on my wrist and in about 2 hours its was dead but yesterday my cousin bought this one and i tested it with good 7 sprays out of which 5 on my shirt , on top of each other, it is still their on my shirt after 11 hours. Go for it as its good value of money for a nice summer day.
Scent is fresh, energetic, orangy with tinge of citrus note good for a nice summer day with boxers and t shirt.
Just spray on clothes with 6-8 good sprays and it will work nicely.
    Same for John Varvatos.
EDIT: Bought this one today Finally as was not in shelfs cus of lot of demand, price like 13euros 100ml, now will play with it from next week and get back.
2Edit: Guys atleast 10 shots all on clothes plus duble shots ontop of each other and will give you 8 hours, i m going with 15 shots though..:)

Tested this and my first impression was that it definitely has similarities to Dior Homme Cologne 2013. Very fresh and citrusy and the longevity isn’t too bad considering the price. I used to own Dior Homme Cologne and these smell very similar to me. For the price you cannot go wrong. Fantastic for warmer weather, office or the gym.

take Terre d’Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche, remove the depth and round the sharp corners of vetiver base => you get Zara Orange Zest. Very good fragrance.

  28. :

I really want to love it but one test showed a lack of longevity. I will test it again but do not expect miracles. Makes me sad as vetiver is one of my favorite notes.

    @Plantus
Yeah man, you are lucky. This lasts really bad. Same as vibrant leather which you said lasts hours on you but on me lasts an hour, no matter if I put 5 sprays or 20 and many have said the same. So yes you’re very lucky that you can wear these beauties for hours. For me, its sad it lasts less than an hour because this one is such a gorgeous frag. I get triple the time from Aqua Bergamoto. Even that isnt great cuz projection is bad. I use DH Cologne and Declaration Leau. Those last on me longer and I get the same vibe, similar smell.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

Great opening on this one. Like a reviewer mentioned below, I too get vibes of Dior Cologne on the opening. Sadly, the projection takes a nose dive after a half hour, and goes straight to the dry down where it settles into a skin scent for a good 1-2 hours. For the price, you can’t expect a lot and that’s where this shines. However, one may choose to spend a little bit more and invest in a hot weather citrus scent with better performance.

I’ve had wareing this fragrance quite a bit and I don’t have any issues with its performances.
I guess I’m lucky, this is now a staple in my warm weather rotation.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

One of the most amazing zara freshies. If they know whats good, I hope they keep it in their regular rotation. This to me is a clone of Dior Homme Cologne. Start is the same and it stays the same for some time. Then I start smelling that gorgeous vetiver, as this is citrus vetiver frag. The smell then is a spot on Leau Boisee. Earthy bitter fresh citrus that blends well with vetiver. At the end, this citrus earthy smell is replaced with one of the most amazing gentle lavander smells Ive come across in a long time. It is not lineral like DH Cologne or Leau Boisee. I get 100% DH Cologne and then pretty close Leau Boisee. Finishing with a gorgeous semi sweet gentle lavander perfect for evenings. Basically, this frag is lemon vetiver mostly, with gentle lavander at finish. Well made. I think I will stock up. Zara hit a gold mine with this one like they did with maybe few others. An excellent frag, highly recommended for summer. For extremely hot weather only. And this should have been called lemon zest because there is nothing even remotely orangey in this one. Just lemon vetiver ultra fresh combo. Unlike most Zara frags, this one needs some hard core hype. Amazing stuff!
Edit: after wearing it, the longevity is awfull. It lasts max 2 hours and projects for one, maybe even less. Beautiful frag but lasts poorly.

After this couple great reviews – I Bought the perfume together in a box with the Fougere cologne.
perfume smells well, very summer with nice orange zest but it had unfortunately poor projection on my skin

  34. :

    3 out of 5

I have a really hard time with summer fragrances, most of the designers are “meh” to say the least, most of the new summer releases where very just ok to me, was contemplating on one from Atelier Cologne, then, I go to Zara and smelled this one, this is everything I hope it would be, and more because from this price range one can’t except much, yet it delivers, and beat all the designers ones i’ve tried.
Now, don’t get me wrong, most Zara fragrances are crap, especially the dry down, but there are some jewels if you take your time to look around, and this one in quality surely delivers much more then i thought it would. It’s refreshing they are releasing some more “grown up” scents, like impact masculin, exclusive oud and now this one.
Orange Zest, the name says it all, like the review below me, a citrus/vetiver combo with a clean powdery musk and some fresh ginger very very light in the background. I get a orange feel to it, I would say the notes are probably a mix of bergamot/lemon, grapefruit and orange blossom, vetiver, clean powdery musk and ginger. Very good blending and the quality put at shame most designer fragrances much higher priced.

Great fragrance, I have it since last week and I was wearing it almost everyday since.
When I saw the notes on the Zara website I thought that this will be a cone of DHS 2008.
But no, this is more a citrus-vetiver dominated fragrance, like for exemple EN Sport, Kenzo Boisee or Grey Vetiver. Is not a clone of any of those, or of any other fragrance that I know. Just a great green, wet and slightly bitter fragrance.
It’s very refreshing now in the spring. I get about the same performances with this fragrance like with my ADG Profumo or Bvlgari Aqva Amara!
About 6h longevity with above average projection for the first two.
My first impression was 7.5/10 but had grown on me a lot. 9/10
