5 years ago or so I would have been loath to try Michael Jordan, as I am not a huge basketball fan nor big on celebrity fragrances. However I saw a gift set (cologne and aftershave lotion) for $12 at Burlington Coat Factory, and couldn’t pass up the deal. I had heard this was a decent casual frag, and indeed it did not disappoint! Green and woody, and ever so slightly aquatic, Michael Jordan is perfect for the gym, running errands, or any casual occasion. Good, but not great lasting power; average projection. Not groundbreaking by any means, but MJ represents the best of its sporty milieu. It just smells good in a clean, unpretentious way. The me of 5 years ago would have snobbishly rejected such a fragrance, but now I can appreciate such a bargain frag. Don’t knock the celeb fragrances until you try them!

I like it! After 30-45min it reminds me a little of Stetson Sierra which I happen to love and for being an EdC it has great longevity on me. If you like the vibe of Stetson Sierra but grassier you’ll probably like Michael Jordan for Men.

This is one of those fragrances if you used early in your fragrance use, you loved however it don’t live on after that. This was my second fragrance at age 28. I got it in a 50 ml bottle and later upgraded to a 100ml. I admit, even though I am NOT a basketball fan, my guy is Jordan. I grew up in the 1990’s so he was THE GUY. I saw the 50ml in a Walmart and wondered “That can’t be His Royal Airness.” Well it was. I do like it and it is my mother’s favorite on me but I am not so into it now after I have worn other fragrances.
Michael Jordan’s self-titled first fragrance is really alcoholic, as in rubbing alcohol but you can get cypress mostly (if you can detect it from the alcohol) along with citruses, cognac and some woody notes. In the mid, it goes herbal with juniper as well as green with fir and green tea notes and also lavender. The base is nearly unnoticable to be honest.
This scent is very clean. It is very light so it really works for work. That said, it is a little bit light in performance. I find it lasts about 4 hours tops. I really get a lot of A*Men Pure Shot/Pure Energy from this but not at the Mugler pricing. Maybe Mugler copied them?
I do like this fragrance, it is a throwback, it’s clean but it is unbelievably lost in the shuffle. I rate this a 7.0 and I think it will be in my collection for a while but that is mainly due to lack of use.

My first ever cologne that my Mom gave me… I’d still pick Aspen over this but for nostalgia purposes, I’ll buy one if I ever saw this again. The only vibe I can remember is that this exudes sportiness and will fit most pubescent boys who wants to stay away from baby colognes and can afford to buy one!

I have 3 sons, aged 11, 13 & 17. I enjoy bringing home new fragrances that I find in my travels to TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, and letting each one try it out & whoever likes it best, gets it. Bought this one blind for $13 at Marshall’s today and my 13-year old middle son took one sniff & declared “Gimme, mine!”
It’s a very fresh, light cypress/juniper scent. Longevity & sillage are certainly lacking, but it’s pretty awesome for a middle school teenager.
He’s also enthralled with all things basketball, and all the kids are obsessed with Jordan’s shoes, which I’m guessing is another reason he snatched this up when I brought it home.
It’s light, inoffensive & something I’m sure he’ll use everyday. It’s too young & generic for my 17 year old who loves tobacco, leather and retro type scents. And too “colognish” for my 11 year old who uses the occasional spritz of Axe body spray.
Again, the 13 year old loves it! Not something I’d find attractive on an older man, but pleasant enough for a teen or younger guy.

This stuff is the epitamy of cheap !!!! It starts off smelling very synthetic and keeps a sharp citrusy smell for the duration of the fragrance. Out of all my colognes I have my girlfriend actually said this and Joop were her least favorite and this scent reminded her of an old musty gym locker room.lol…. Can’t say her description isn’t accurate !!
This also only lasted me 1-3 hours and fragrances seem to have good staying power on me. I wouldn’t even recommend this as a starter Cologne because even most Axe frags are better and cheaper then this.
    Overall rating —3 out of 10 !

I dabbled with this scent in highschool to my nose it was peppery rough dirty freshness with a hint of citrus. It created a nice little two to three foot bubble of sillage and longevity was good enough to get me through a school day. I did receive a few compliments in school wearing this my favorite being “damn boy you smell gooood!” if youre in school still and want to stand out from the curve and adg most others are using give this a shot

The initial spray is awful, but thank goodness the dry down is a pleasant, fresh and spicy citrus surprise. It’s a great scent to put on for running errands, working out, or for casual occasions when being serious is not a priority.

LIKE THIS IF IT WAS YOUR FIRST COLOGNE (OR NOT!)
Is it weak yes, is it 90% alcohol yes but it also has a special place in my heart as the first cologne I ever owned at the age of 12. Yes 12. I have been in this game for a long time.
Anyway, This fragrance has become cheaper over the years. Upon its released it was not a novelty “Walmart Checkout Line” Fragrance. It was kind of a big deal. Of course as most celebrity fragrances go it was not by any means a powerhouse bit it was more than what it is now. It was the every day fragrance of many men. We cannot forget what it was.
Why this fragrance is still on shelves boggles me, it would seem as though it just there because someone is buying it. Though I understand that, whatever company is making it is basically just putting it out there. No thought is going into it, they are probably just making it to make it. Not mad at them.
Yes in a world of Niche Fragrances this is garbage, but I never want the fragrance community to forget what it was.
Not A Review, Just a Thought.

Michael Jordan’s original EDC scent is dominated by alcohol to the point that most of the actual notes are subdued. I hadn’t smelled it since the 90s so I bought a sample pack of 15ml MJs at Marshall’s for $10 and tried this first. Sure—lemon, grapefruit, musk, and some other notes are vaguely detectable, but not surprisingly (at the price point), I could not make much out of it except for vague citrus aspects. It certainly has sentimental value but obviously begs the question of, even as cheap as it is, why one wouldn’t go with something that’s simply a better scent. A cheap grapefruit is C.O. Bigelow’s Elixir White at Bath & Body Works, for example. I’m eager to try the other MJ frags again, though. Also, as if it needed saying, the projection is weak and the longevity is terrible, probably a skin scent within the hour, but that does make it useful (as some reviewers have pointed out) as an athletic/workout scent that generally remains close to the skin unless being pushed out by heat and sweat.

Back to the ambience of bodybuilding workouts in the 90s ……
    Great sports perfume !!!
Excellent for permanent and yet not offensive …… more energetic and virile.
It was a great price and is present to this day !!!
    Youth budgets friend.
I think instead autumn to spring is ideal for use …..
In the summer a little wild in the presence …….
    Perfect quality is the name!
    Good buy a sporty lifestyle.

Who doesn’t love it? This was the one us 90’s kids had before we knew we were perfume fiends.
I like to wear it with my Pippen jersey to see if anyone notices. Nobody notices.

Got a 1.7 for 15 bucks that was in a giftset with a soap bar, aftershave balm, and body wash at walmart. This is a very good casual fragrance for wearing whenever.Fresh, sporty and is innofensive.worth the money, prprabaly will buy another bottle as ross has the 50 ml for like $10 so I can use up the body wash and aftershave.

This was a friend of mines signature scent. Everytime i smell this synthetic alcoholish scent, reminds me of him. Very very safe scent. Nobody will complain if you wore this. Dirt cheap. I have a bottle which i wear occasionally but if i had a younger brother or nephew around 13 yrs old, i would give it to him cuz this will help a HS kid more than it can help me.

This is my childhood. This is the scent association I have to sitting in my best friend’s bedroom, circa 1998, on a freshly laundered Pokemon bedspread sprawled on the floor, playing Star Fox on his Nintendo 64. Chicago Bulls posters lined the beige walls of his room, and sitting on his disheveled desk desk, alongside a Scottie Pippen bobblehead, was a small flask of Michael Jordan cologne. We would spray it in the room like a diffuser, and it would waft through the musty air for hours. Great memories of brighter, more blissfully ignorant days..
The spice of juniper berries with the alluring, almost musky feel of the fir and incense combination, are quite enjoyable even without the nostalgia. Very synthetic? Yes! What did you expect from a $10 fragrance? But it’s honestly pleasant, and it does last (at least on my skin) for several hours with (again, skin dependent) unexpectedly great projection.
Most people who enjoy an older fragrance for it’s nostalgic emotive aspect exclaim the conspiracy of a “major reformulation,” which totally diminishes the value of the fragrance to them, but this fragrance is absolutely true to memory after 10+ years.
10/10 in my book! Although my 10-year old self may have a significant say in that rating! 😉

As I stated in my other MJ Flight review, a great “starter” scent for the noobie to scents (though I am no master :p).
It isn’t offensive, it has a soft sillage so you can wear it in school and not have to worry about anything. Overall a safe, good scent. 🙂

i had it back in highschool because i couldnt afford nothing better and this could be found at Ross for like 10 or 15 bucks for 100ml back in the day and i am sure it is still affordable. not bad for the price, if you are a teenager on a budget and need a fresh citrus/woody smell for summer days this is it, it brings back good memories for me lots of compliments from highschool girls back in the day ;), i dont think ill buy it again because I can afford a little more quality stuff now a days but if i had it today maybe i would use it for the gym because its really clean smelling and cant offend anyone.

I happened to come across this product, and the Flight body spray, by the Michael Jordan line in a 6 oz. body spray for $7. The initial alcohol blast quickly fades to a surprisingly pleasant spicy and citrus blend that’s appropriate for work, casual wear and before and after the gym. No, it wasn’t created or meant to be an earth moving product, but it smells nice and clean.
As for getting compliments, people will either say or think that this guy smells pleasant and cared enough to go beyond his expected hygiene regime to use a fragrance.
Update: It’s an after the shower body spray so do not expect a 5 to 10 hour projection.

I came across a page somewhere describing what it is celebrities wear, and knowing this could be had for a song, was surprised to see it appear so often alongside Creed Green Irish Tweed, Acqua di Parma Colonia and Chanel Pour Monsieur. After all, these folks can afford any scent they want. Is this some kind of a Hollywood joke? So I tried it on my arm.
It’s an absolutely generic clean/fresh/sporty scent. I dislike those intensely. Bah! Scrubber!

The first, and still the best, Michael Jordan frag. Was one of the first mainstream scents that had a real “fresh cut grass” type smell. Which you wouldn’t expect from a basketball player, but remember Jordan played for the White Sox too! Very clean, very fresh, best for a just got out of the shower scent. Not super classy smelling by any means, but nice, and cheap.

Wow great cologne, It’s an eau de cologne with an EDT sillage and longevity. Definitely the best celebrity fragrance made, very casual and sporty good for going out in the evenings with friends or for the weekends sitting around. I would use this fragrance from April to September in a Canadian or northern/midwest USA climate.(Michigan,Illinois,Indiana,Wisconsin,Ohio,Pennsylvania,NY state)
Hope this review helps anyone interested in a great fragrance for a great price.

It’s a sporty fragrence that opens up with a slight Versace pour homme smell but turns synthetic which is why I would say this is sporty. It’s good from the Jordan collection and worth the money. Lasts long and decent silage. I would recommend for the younger crowd or someone that is in a rush and dressing up with jeans and a shirt.

MJ cologne is a nice athletic yet woody fragrance that is so underrated. I usually dont dig on celebrity scents but this one really makes me change my mind. MJ is an all purpose frag that if worn right can draw the attention you need from the ladies

Holy cow, this is SPICY! Spicy and green, two qualities I love in a fragrance. This is a great scent.
The fragrance is as complex as the pyramid suggests, and I can smell almost everything listed. What stands out most are the sharp spices like pepper and clove, the resinous evergreen notes like fir, juniper and cypress, and the dark dry wood notes like incense and sandalwood. Herbal notes like patchouli and sage just make this over-the-top spicy and aromatic.
This is a very manly scent, and so much more than just another woody spicy sport fragrance. Huge thumbs up!
    MY RATING: 8.5/10

A memorable fragrance for Gen Y in the 90’s.

Its basically a decent scent but MJ legend is MUCH better its surprising that more people are commenting on this than mj legend since that is the best cologne on this scent line
Overall ive had this 3 times and traded it each time after awhile because its kinda forgettable and bland compared to many other better fragrances out there, but nontheless a good budget cologne

I got a small spray of this when searching for 23 and not knowing it was 23. My first bottle had a faulty sprayer and in 2 wks. 1/3 of the juice evaporated. When I returned it they still had some left and of course when I saved receipt & box nothing was wrong with it…
When I first decided to research this the limited pre-FRAGRANTICA source I had said green tea, edar (cedar?), leather and sandalwood. Mmm, I thought manly yet clean and fresh. I was not disappointed yet knew there was much more going on in there. (the Nose knows)
I agree with Andy on this scent…the green fresh woody top flows into the sharp green spicy aromatic heart into a very sensual (men and women agree) base, all the while a faint haze of cognac and incense linger in the wings. This frag is as iconic as MJ himself manly: sporty, strong enough to push the envelope yet refined and cultured enough to know when to hang back…
    Sillage: decent
    Longevity: moderate
    Overall: 3.5/5
Some can wear it,some can’t pull it off; but rest assured-it is a pleasing cologne and lasts longer than most edc’s without being overpowering while it does. Don’t judge it on the fact it is a celebrity scent. Please judge it on the juice…

legend in the nba! i love this scent its very complex and high quality, most people dont give it the rep but its a perfect scent for me, and not too unisex or femnine and he knows what GUYS WANT TO SMELL LIKE not unisex stuff that ur girlfriend will be dumping on
its really an aromatic hybrid scent because its got a spicy masculine matrix and the sandalwood patchouli and musk give it some sensuality while they are carefully controlled and the citrus and green notes help blend the entire woodsy spicy components to give a very casual laid back chill scent to wear everywhere
i gotto say this is really more sexy than many of the higher end colognes because its sporty and designed for athletic guys and makes u smell athletic and physically active rather than horndogs bathed in some frag to pick up women at a club

My father fell in love with this fragrance on a trip to Vegas in the late 1990’s. When he first wore it, I admit, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it smells. Dad and one of my uncles (both in their 60’s) still count this as one of their favorites.
Michael Jordan really didn’t bring anything new to the fragrance world, but it gets the job done. People will tell you that you smell good! (And men like to hear that, even if they won’t admit to enjoying fragrances.) The notes look more complicated than the overall effect: Michael Jordan is citrusy and spicy, with a “clean and freshly-showered” overtone, though I wouldn’t describe it as soapy.
It is a pleasant masculine fragrance that doesn’t stand out from the crowd, which makes it a perfect office fragrance for men. It smells nice, but at the same time, it is not so distinctive that someone will embarrass you by recognizing it and pointing out to everybody that you’re wearing an inexpensive celebrity fragrance. Don’t be afraid to give it a try!
