This fragrance is pleasant but rather boring. Just citrus and tea to my nose. It’s refreshing on a hot day, or sprayed into the air. It’s similar to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea but perhaps more natural smelling. My preference is Annick Goutal’s Hadrien, but this is ok, too. It would probably be nice as linen spray for ironing, or sprayed onto bedsheets during summer. I can find a hundred lovely uses for it, but it’s meh as skin perfume. Just my own taste and feeling here about this one.
    Adding: October 2018
We have had a brutal, suffocating summer in the deep South, and I did actually use this more often than I imagined I would. It is a pleasant morning scent to wear to breakfast. And I enjoyed it as a citrusy brightener layered over deeper/oriental frags, just for fun. Sometimes in the afternoon I sprayed it toward the ceiling fan. Everyone needs a multitasker like this, though next time I might opt for a less spendy one, like a verbena from L’Occitan or an Yves Roches equivalent.

Italian Lemon Ice! Then lemon tea. This is real lemon, real sugar, and real tea! Not a representation, not a metaphor, it’s the genuine article as real as if you were sitting in a cafe on the Amalfi coast.
This is so refreshing it almost makes you feel as though your body tempetature has dropped a few degrees.
As a clothing scent sprayed liberally, it lasts about three hours. As a skin scent use it as a clothing scent.

A very intense blast of lemon and other citrus notes. This is coupled with a lovely tea note on a bed of flowers and green herbal notes.
The ingredients are breathtaking in their quality. It’s like you have squeezed citrus juice into a bowl and added the essence of flowers and green herbs and then dabbed yourself.
Very nice but a little too realistic and intense.

Love at first sniff with this one. Opens with orange and the citrus works well to balance the tea note, which is strong. My new favorite tea fragrance.

This was the souvenir my daughter brought to me from Capri. This, without a doubt, is the very best thing she could have given me. Without realizing it she brought me a little bottle of Italy. I just put a drop on my wrist to help me explain how wonderful the scent really is. Lemon! But not only lemon! This is the fruit and the peel and the leaves and the bark. This fragrance transports me to the Mediterranean coastline. The temperature in central Illinois is now 17 degrees. But here in my bathroom, with my eyes closed and nose filled with this fragrance, I’m basking in sunshine. Get some of this – aroma therapy at its finest!

Well there isn’t a separate page for the Parfum so hopefully I’ll be able to address some questions regarding the concentrations. My exposure to Mediterraneo was through a sample of the EdT and eventually I purchased a bottle of the Parfum unsniffed; an unusually gutsy move for my blind-buy-hating self especially considering the price point.
I’ve compared the EdT against the Parfum side by side now and though I’ll hope you’ll forgive my amateur nose I can at least attempt to give a basic description of the similarities and differences of their character.
The EdT is a bit more linear than its counterpart, opening with juicy citric tones that don’t scream of any one fruit. The drydown comes fast and transitions into what I consider to be a fairly sweet scent a-la Illuminum’s Bergamot Blossom as the green tea comes into focus. This is a glass of green tea with lemon as others have described but with several heaping tablespoons of sugar added. It’s wholly refreshing and worthy of a bottle on its own merit. Longevity is tragic in keeping with the vast majority of citrus scents.
The parfum on the other hand does manage to have a bit of evolution. Upon first spray the most noticeable thing was, to me, the lack of that overt sugary sweetness. Don’t get me wrong, the parfum is still sweet top-to-bottom, but next to its sibling the difference is obvious. Lemon comes through specifically in all its tart, wonderful glory, but it’s still apparent that this isn’t a mono-citric accord. Another major difference in the parfum is the warm, vaguely salty tone present from first spray – maybe some sort of ambergris analogue. As it dries, a more woody-herbacious tone that I didn’t detect in the EdT starts to sneak in though never in enough quantity to be wholly obvious. The parfum never becomes as sweet as its counterpart though the EdT’s formula is still apparent.
The one thing that I feel like I need to stress is that both concentrations share terrible longevity. I bought the Parfum hoping for some extra depth, sure, but also in a bid to extend the experience. On an unlimited budget would I purchase the Parfum again? Without a moment’s hesitation; it’s the clear superior of the two in my opinion. Is it worth paying twice as much for? That isn’t as clear. It’s utterly delightful for certain but that is something you’ll have to decide for yourself.

I agree with a lot of the other reviewers: Mediterraneo is a wonderful lemon tea scent. I’m surprised tea isn’t listed as a note, because that’s the first thing I think of when I spray it on: Earl Grey tea! It must be the bergamot, but I’d swear there’s more to it than that. Then after a few minutes the lemon comes out more, and the scent becomes sweeter, but the tea component remains very much present. At this point, it smells exactly like those lemon tea candies, or just lemon iced tea with lots of sugar; but the homemade kind, it smells very natural.
It’s so refreshing; perfect for summer, but I doubt whether I’ll be able to stay away from it even in the colder months, it’s such a burst of sunshine.
I love it, but it fades so fast. The delicious ice tea phase only lasts for about half an hour, and what’s left is a weak ghost of that former glory, with some more aromatic notes thrown in. I think I’ll go through my little decant in no time at all! I don’t know whether I have the EdT or EdP, but I’ll be sure I get the EdP if I ever buy a full bottle!

Es maravillosa. Posiblemente, la fragancia fresca cítrica unisex definitiva. Lástima que en mi piel dura no más de dos horas.

It´s wonderful. Maybe, the ultimate unisex fresh citrus fragance. Pity it doesn´t last more than two hours on my skin.

This fragrance is special. Somehow captures all that sicilian juicy, fruitiness a lemon which is not at all sharp but superbly realistic. It has the cooling effect of a summer breeze lightly spiced with cardamom and somehow a touch of those wild flowers.
Green tea is a perfect companion for this light, perfect scent…reminds me of Iced tea and Lemon. I’m head over heels for Carthusia Mediteraneo just the remedy for hot weather.
I’ve smelled a few citruses which have made me rethink this entire olfactive group recently but this one is a real achievement.
The longevity is not great and it doesn’t have any surprises underneath in terms of base notes and as such, is pretty linear affair.
Not so good…but I still kinda wanna add it to my collection, it’s that good.

This perfume is a explosion of freshness.
It is if you step into a citrus garden on the mediterranean coast. This perfume is a lighter version of Io and more citric. It is so typical an Italian perfume but one of the better ones or even of the great masters hand. It is good for casual use and on summer days. Behind the citric opening a subtle mix of cardamom, mint and eucalyptus is noticeable. Its a nice perfume for casual use on warm moist days.
In the end it gets musky-jasmine scent.
Just a great perfume for all day use and for the price it gives a better quality than for instance that great casual Italian aquatic-citric perfume of Acqua di Gio. I bought it for € 52,-. It is one of those fresh summer perfumes that are subtle and stylish.
    This perfume has great class.

lemon!!! lemon!!! openes up as grated lemon, like when you grate lemons for baking a cake. almost like strong bathroom cleaner. Rather than spend this amount of money for this perfume, better grate some lemons and rub the peelings on you. it mellows down into tea, a little, but still citrusy. I could smell it on a man, it”s definitely unisex and I could smell nothing sweet in it at any time. I guess it’s all right for going to the beach or out on a hot summer day.

This is a lovely scent, as described by others. It closely resembles Lemon Scented Pledge, but I urge readers to reclaim this scent and its associations. Mine are largely positive, as dusting wooden furniture with Pledge is perhaps the least demanding and most rewarding of household chores. For many, I’m sure, the pleasure of a lasting, sunny, lightly sweetened lemon fragrance is worth that bit of mental effort.

Carthusia mediterano captures the scent of a warm summer’s day on a southern italian island as a gentle breeze winds though an alfani lemon grove caressing fresh flora, blooming wildflowers, wild herbs and exotic spices.
Ripe lemon, fresh green herbs, wildflowers and hints of spice work in harmony to create an exotic, yet pleasing lemon herbal tea aroma. I love the opening yet there’s love lost during the dry down when a strong tea and tomato leaf aroma gains steam; and there’s my deal breaker. While not my scent, any lemon herbal tea and leafy green scent lover should seek this one out. It’s an absolutely lovely, classic ‘Mediterranean’ scent and perfect for summer.
Score 6/10 it’s refreshing, unique and quite lovable.
Projection, sillage, longevity are all average.

Capri is my favorite island, and this fragrance is everything about it.
Fresh, citrus, radiant, clean and perfect for unbearingly hot summer days!
IMHO parfum extrait is better and the notes are stronger and more “individual”, which I like.
For me, best summer scent and the citrus/fresh one aswell. And usually I don’t like citrus based scents. Carthusia’s masterpiece.
    My rating: 7/10

I was really hoping to like this, but the lemon and tea mixture doesn’t work for me. The top notes smell pretty bad. The dry down is better, but nothing special. I wouldn’t buy a full bottle of this.

My go-to summer scent, citrus but not too lemony (no hint of furniture polish), with herbal and tea elements to give it complexity without any heaviness. Perfect to splash on when the weather is really hot. To be worn with flip flops and a cotton dress. Not a sophisticated, evening, or work scent at all.

I don’t think this scent could be for a man. It is most surely a feminine scent. It is very sweet. I am not a fan. It gives me the feeling that someone just spilled a sugary drink on me. I expect it to feel sticky.

    Earl Gray tea, anyone?
    I’ll put the kettle on…
…What a pleasant surprise in the citrus category! A citrus that’s rich in flavor and still, if someone wearing Carthusia Mediterraneo walked past you, you’d sense a fresh whiff not a bit too heavy. (Sorry for the heavy grammar, though.) The sillage is good indoors, and I think that’s enough because this is clearly a daytime scent.
My guess is that Mediterraneo is the most famous of the Carthusia family. The tea note is just lovely!

I usually detest citrus-based scents, especially lemon ones. I often find them too sharp, too much like the scent of detergent or too candied. Mediterraneo on the other hand, is perfection.
The composition is mostly lively, watery citrus, quite natural smelling when compared to other citrus perfumes. There is a touch of tea, however it’s not particularly strong. I love how refreshing Mediterraneo is on the skin.
It’s nothing out of the ordinary, but for what it’s worth, I’d choose it over and above many Summer scents on the market these days.
It feels like a cologne or a body splash, yet it comes in the form of an EDT, with great lasting strength and moderate sillage.
Like craving a glass of icy cool water on a hot Summer’s day, Mediterraneo is the kind of fragrance that you reach for to feel refreshed and energised during such weather. It is, in my opinion, much nicer than D&G Light Blue and Annick Goutal’s Eau d’Hadrien, and all in all, much more exclusive.

I disagree that this fragrance is energetic or fizzy. It certainly is deeply citrusy, but the lemon aroma is more evocative of fresh, ripe lemons that have been lazily basking in the sun.
In fairness, I did purchase Mediterraneo in Capri (lucky me, I know!)and I see the subtleties of the fragrance as parallel to the beauty and charm of the isle.
Capri is lined with lemon trees, sprayed with the bluest ocean water, warmed by a honey coloured sun and fortified with old stone pathways and buildings. Mediterraneo is truly a testament to Capri’s natural beauty. It’s suggested here that this fragrance is unisex, but I feel that it leans towards the feminine as the hint of what I’m guessing is carnation offers a soft sensuality alongside the rich zest of the lemon.
I can’t wear this fragrance often because it is a touch too mature for me (not in scent but in personality, if that makes sense) but it is certainly subtle enough to be worn daily. I imagine this being the perfect fragrance for a woman of the world. Someone who wears neutral tones and natural fibres, is a gifted wine connoisseur and decorates her house with stone and wood features. She is romantic but self assured. A woman who has an imagination that never strays too far away from the daydream of riding her push bike through the roads and gardens of the captivating isle of Capri. Also like your imagination, it seems deeply personal and intimate yet elusive and beautifully distant.
I know that my description might seem overly evocative, but if it in some way represents or responds to you, I think you will find the secret joys and subtle comforts of Mediterraneo.
A close and more affordable fragrance similar to this would be Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden but Mediterraneo reaches somewhere further into your heart. Or at least mine.

Dazzlingly bright lemon – very fresh – more rind than pulp. Drydown has a hint of tea in a layered green framework similar to Miller et Bertaux #3 (green, green, green). Would be so cooling in summer.

This fragrance is like an energetic drink. It is a bomb of bitter citrus fruits – strong, intoxicating and energising, strongest citrus fragrance I’ve ever smelled! It is a dose of pure vitamin C, that improves your mood instantly 🙂 It’s a perfect fragrance for summer or whenever you need energy to do something. Unfortunately the staying power is very poor on my skin.
