This is a gentlemen’s version of Lolita Lempicka. Not as long lasting or huge sillage. More of a subtle version that is well rounded. The patchouli note gives it a slightly earthy vibe while never being harsh. It is discontinued now but I still have a near full bottle ATM.

A true must have for licorice and anise lovers. Rich in quality, yet light enough to be extremely versatile.
UC Berkeley recently conducted a scientific study to determine women’s sexual stimulation relating to scent. The scent receiving the most positive reaction was cucumber (go figure). Second was licorice! It must be true for I have yet to wear this and not be approached by female strangers. Gentlemen, keep this in your rotation. 😉

This is another fragrance which is tragically underestimated and just not recognised enough….
To me, this is an expertly constructed and innovative scent which is very much about the liqourice and anise combination (supported by more traditional patchouli and woody notes). It is a clearly masculine fragrance and though very dark there is enough lightness of touch to give considerable versatility to it. I would even say it has something of Kenzo Air’s potential to also be a Spring/Summer fragrance as there is quite a bit of freshness as well. I enjoy how this feels on my skin as well, as it has a slightly oily feel to it and I believe they haven’t skimped with the costs for this.
All said, Mat Very Male is a highly recommended fragrance to try. If you been looking for a good liqourice fragrance which is not too sweet or unisex, you could do worse than this one. It is very, very good….

If anyone would like to trade, I have a Hanae Mori HiM, sprayed 10 times. Let me know.

AHHHH! YES, finally- a PROPER LICORICE FRAGRANCE! Not hidden or imaginary, Like Detroit suburbanites claiming to be from 8 Mile…THIS, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL, thick sticky licorice right front and center! I tried the Joop Go! Flanker- “Hot Summer” which claims to have a licorice note as well as Armani Remix which also claims it’s licorice heritage, but NONE EVEN COME LOSE TO THIS ONE!!! BEAUTIFUL.
For licorice and anise fans, this CAN BE A BLIND BUY! You’ll love it. Promise.

my fiance recently began to wear this, and at first i didn’t even notice he was wearing any fragrance, but i knew that he smelled AMAZING. it’s a subtle scent, i love that it wasn’t overwhelming, like many men’s scents tend to be. it crept up on me and left me wanting more. it epitomizes the strong, silent type in it’s own way.

This scent is a touch on the light side but what you get is predominantly licorice/anise with a trickle of resinous woods, patchouli and some lotus/aquatic tone. It’s refreshing in this simultaneously subtle yet masculine way.

I am a huge fan of this fragrance. It is similar to Kenzo Air…not so much Encre Noire. I get Sambuca, water notes and licorice…as well as bamboo notes. I find this one is easy to wear and relatively versatile…people around you will enjoy the smell of this one. I recommend this one! Put down the Cool Water and grab this one.

When I had it, I didn’t smell anything BUT strong herbal anise, patchouli, and licorice. Yea, maybe some other fresh green notes too. The scent was rather odd. It wasn’t sweet nor woody enough for me. It was not “love at first sight”.
This is not a common scent, and I find it difficult to find an appropriate scenario to wear it. If i have given it more time, it probably should have grown on me, but I ended up passing it on to someone else who’d appreciate it. (Gpysy will take it from here…) 🙂
Remark: Similar to Kenzo Air or/and Lalique Encre Noire? Hmm… It doesn’t matter. These two smell better anyway.
