Description
Prada is launching new exclusive collection of fragrances called Prada Olfactories containing ten editions: Purple Rain, Nue au Soleil, Tainted Love, Un Chant d’Amour, Cargo de Nuit, Heat Wave, Day for Night, Double Dare, Pink Flamingos and Marienbad. The creations are signed by perfumer Daniela (Roche) Andrier who said that that the scents are all intended to be “potent concoctions of the unexpected, provoking the cinematic experience of a partially remembered dream… It’s a strong vision that is far from cliché. They’re very different from what you’ll find on the market. They’re not done studying the trends of the market and create a bestseller; they are done out of the spirit of Prada.”
The fragrances are supposedly not done studying the trends of the market, but in keeping with the spirit of the house Prada. Each bottle contains a silk purse from Prada materials.
Marienbad contains elegant accords of oud, vanilla, amber, leather and incense.
Available as 100 ml Eau de Parfum for $300.
Marienbad was launched in 2015.

Animalic “dirty ” fragrance done by the cleanness masters prada. This is civet, powder and luxurious soap with a base of amber sweetness. Old school musk with modern twist. Think of amouage gold but much more refined and wearable. Projection and longevity are excellent.

Not really sure with this one.
Seems a bit old fashioned to me and a bit of a feminine perfume. I get tons of amber and vanilla which combine a bit weirdly with each other, being rudely loud and way too sweet. It was a bit of a let down because I love vanilla and amber scents.
I got a 6 hours longevity with really good projection.

It is really beautiful and warm but I read the notes and I’m confused. I’d swear there is an animalic note in the juice and something like styrax as well. After I sprayed it on my hand the first thought was “wow, they put civet in it! Unbelievable!”. The next five minutes I got whiffs of leather (obviously), styrax and incense. The “cat” abandoned me ten minutes later and the whole composition performed exactly like Cumulnimbus said below; a creamy sweet oriental leather. Sillage is really good without being annoying and longevity on my skin is impressing too. I wish I could afford a whole bottle but fortunately I have a small vial of this and I’ll keep it for special occasions.

I love this creamy sweet oriental leather. It begins a bit medicinal with the oud and incense then it sparkles on a shiny amber and ends with the sweet creamy leather and a grown up vanilla. It is subtle but long lasting. Pretty serious for a sweet drydown perfume. Pleasurable and chic. I’m really enjoying it, it is very versatile as well.
It has a stronger character than Day for Night which is also beautiful but more of an almost transparent chocolated leather perfume.
Don’t let the notes mislead you, this perfume can perfectly be used in spring and summer as it is extremely polite.
EDIT: sillage is perfect in this perfume: moderate but existing. More than one person have mentioned in different days in which I wore it they could for moments get a soft wave of a gorgeous smell but couldn’t really identify where or whom it came from. In all cases they insisted in searching for its origin until they got to me. This one is also so very comforting in winter days, I’m worried how fast this bottle can come down, still even happier of enjoying it.

This exploded with incense and oud like HELLO before it finally calmed down with that warm vanilla. The leather in it is on the sharp side on my skin, and something about this one reminds me of sitting at my dad’s old WWII era writing desk with the dry wood and musty drawers.
I feel like it’s too close to “Day for Night.”

I tested Marienbad in the official Prada store in Milano.
Out of the 10 prestige fragrances offered by Prada this was the most interesting.
I`ve never been in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) or Marienbad so I can`t comment the relation of the name to the smell.
What I get is a dark mix of incence with leather. The same leather that I get from fragrances like etro gomma or Knize Ten and incense like that from Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense.
The sillage of this fragrance is great. One spray surrounded me within 2 metres for about 2 hours. Great quality fragrance.

Smells exactly like the dry down of Amber pour homme with no sillage.

Is it an hommage to the super stylish 60’s film “last year in Marienbad”? Interesting! But in that case should have been more cold and edgy:s
