What is it that makes Marc Jacobs fragrances so awful? Is it something at Coty? Is it just absolute cheapness to the ingredients? Careless formulation? Subpar chemistry?
As with most all of Marc Jacobs scents (with the exception to the original Marc Jacobs woman, although this is debatable) the top notes are fresh and catching but then almost immediately gives way to a highly disappointing dry-down. That is the case with Ivy; at first smell it has a wonderful mossy, clean and aromatic nose that had me impulse buy it when it came out in 2006. However, it wasn’t until wearing it several more times that I realized it smells like cheap, acrid body spray. Legit his scents dry down to Axe Body Spray or the other cheap spray colognes they sell in the male deodorant aisle at Duane Reade. Spritz enough of this and you’ll smell like a Puerto Rican shower.

I agree. It is good on both men and women. Very good staying power for a splash. Great scent. Wore it today and had to comment as I thought I smelled wonderful all day.
