Dame Perfumery Mandarin, Neroli, & Cedar is the first EDT offering I’ve sampled and it does not disappoint. A fresh combination of the three titular notes along with a host of other supporting floral and woody accords, the fragrance is a unisex, agreeable daytime summer option for all ages. Vetiver and musk round out the detectable notes, but certainly I’m open to the idea that there are at least some more florals involved beyond the neroli.
This is a simple mix, to my nose, and its simplicity is what makes it effortless to wear and great to reach for in any scenario. Its main pitfall is performance, which, at its concentration (EDT) and price point ($65 for 100ml) is predictable and perhaps tolerable, but I’m not sure I’ve a specific need for this fragrance, as much as I do appreciate it and would wear it if I had it.

This smells like the most posh laundry detergent in the world. Let’s imagine you go to France and have your clothes sent out to a fancy laundry. You get them back nice and clean, and can’t stop burying your nose in them because they smell so good. You ask the proprietor at the laundry what soap he uses, and he smiles and tells you it’s a house blend, not for sale.
    That’s what this smells like.
It’s deeper, more citrusy/spicy than a straight-ahead soap, but soapy it is, nonetheless!
For me, this is not a full-bottle purchase (I’m not a clean-scents kind of person) but I could see this being part of the collection of someone who wears a lot of classic and crisp clothing. Early-morning-on-a-yacht-in-the-sunshine…
Also good for traveling, when you need to freshen up after a long day on a grimy train…
I’ll definitely use up my sample!
Edited to add: this could definitely go unisex. I think this would smell great and very cosmopolitan on a man. Who doesn’t like a clean-smelling guy?

I just tried this today since I received samples some time ago. I know it’s marketed to females but I thought what the heck!
I get soap, lots of it in the opening. I’m starting to see a pattern with Dame because several of them are very soapy to me. I know smell is very subjective and what I smell you may not.
For me, it’s definitely a very nice feminine scent.

This is to die for. NOT the usual, tired and tiresome citrus punch that usually passes for summer scent. The neroli is so wonderful done, and orange blossom is one of my all-time favorite notes.
People are entitled to their opinion, of course, but I don’t find this scent to be “laundry,” or “cotton clean” at all (that’s the Clean colection). This is so much more sophisticated than that.

Very nice, a classy ‘clean cotton’ sort of a scent that’s smooth and well balanced without going too far into the ‘soap’ territory.
I’ve already worn the sample several days in a row and might end up getting a bottle at this rate, as it is probably my favorite ‘freshly laundered’ scent right now..

Mr.Jeffery Dame, if you find yourself here reading these amazing reviews/opinions I’d like you to know that everything that I’ve come across in your line is absolutely stunning! This Mandarin neroli and Cedar is no exception……I find this to be so simple and so sophisticated. None of the notes are clashing with one another; everything is in perfect harmony.

As evidenced by their Soliflore Orange Flower, the folks at Dame Perfumery are clearly blackbelts with Neroli. My confidence is high, that any release featuring a strong Neroli/ Orange Flower will be an absolute safe blind-buy.
It’s therefore no surprise, that Mandarin, Neroli, & Cedar is another winner. In addition to the clear expression of Mandarin and Neroli, there’s an interesting (unlisted) note, which may be Honeysuckle.
Everyone has likes & dislikes when it comes to individual accords. That said, the actual ‘chemistry used’ or the blend may neutralize (previously disliked) notes. For me, the warning flags were violet and cassis leaf. On some people’s skin, cassis leaf takes a ‘urinous’ turn. It’s NOT happening here. MNC remains linear and uplifting, without any pissy turn on the Cassis leaf.

Dame Perfumery’s Mandarin, Neroli & Cedar is the most divine laundry detergent smell! The soapy neroli blends perfectly with the sweet mandarin while the basil adds a cool freshness. After getting a sample packet in the mail this went straight to the top of my want list and I knew I had to buy a bottle. I think this scent can definitely be unisex, but it definitely leans a little towards the sweeter side which tends to be considered more feminine. I carry this scent around with me and spritz it on throughout the day – it is so uplifting! I work with little kids, but both the little kids and my co-workers say “You smell so good!” when I wear this.

dame perfumes is killing it with these fabulous scents!
this is another one that lives up to it’s name very well.
minimalism and sophistication that makes a beautiful concoction for the nose.
the neroli and mandarin intertwine to create a soft pleasant scent layed upon a base of cedar. very simplistic yet elegant.
this would be a great spring time scent that would invigorate your sense of smell and uplift your mood.
(a happy fragrance) one that would make you smile while wearing it.
i have to admit i am quite impressed with all of his perfumes i have tested out.
all are well blended and all exude elegance.
    simply stunning.

I usually don’t like citrus perfumes, but I decided to sample Mandarin, Neroli, & Cedar today. This is probably the best of the category that I’ve smelled. It has that nice, soapy neroli smell, but the cedar is present too. I was afraid this was going to smell like Eclat d’Arpege, Light Blue, and Violet Eyes, but the woody accord is there in a more pronounced way, which makes it much better than those fragrances. I probably won’t buy a full bottle, but what I may do is layer Prada Fleur d’Oranger with a little bit of Sensuous Noir to try to get a similar effect.

I am in a neroli phase. I have always liked neroli rich fragrances but lately I’m really jonesin the neroli. I can’t get enough. So you can’t imagine how surprised I was to find an unsolicited sample of mandarin, neroli and cedar from Dame Perfumery in my mail box coming home one night. I couldn’t wait to try it and it was much more than I hoped for.
The fragrance starts off with a lightly soapy orange rind burst. It’s a fresh musky clean, and cardamon tinted orange rind scent. A little like the freshness left on your fingers after peeling away on an orange but not as photo-realistic.
It transitions into a velvety neroli which clings onto that sheer slightly soapy note. It’s is warm and equally fresh. Its like the neroli was kissed by a bar of camay soap. The mandarin manages to hang on for a bit while a lily of the valley note peeks in and out. Everything is so complimentary.
The freshness never fades. It just gets softer and as it softens the neroli truly shines and a subtle cedar accompanies it to the end. Its bright and mellow. Clean and soft. Totally unisex but I would love to smell this on my special lady.
I have had so much fun wearing this fragrance. Its so uplifting and brightly natured. It might just be that I’m in that neroli phase but i just had to write about this one for anyone out there craving that wonderful pairing of citrus and orange flower to a clean wood. Do yourself a favor and put it on that try list!

This beautiful uplifting fragrance is completely unisex. In many ways it reminds me of Neroli Portofino, but this is different. It opens with a burst of orange blossom and neroli, and the cedar and musk soften and give this grounding. On my skin which perfumes tend to last forever on, this is still present after 24 hours. It is a moderate projector, especially when sprayed on the upper chest area. I put about 9 sprays on myself – which means four per arm front and back side and one on the chest/breast area. That makes it project all day on me. If I wanted it to be quieter I only use a couple of sprays on my arms near the wrist area. It feels like a fresh barbershop scent, like a couple of Roger and Gallet colognes that have been around for a long time. Very classic, casual, white shirt/jeans style, but sophisticated enough for work or a night out. Of all of Dame’s fragrances, this is the most unisex in the women’s line to me, and is genderless. Perfect in hot weather and an easy fragrance to wear to the office to aid concentration. I feel well dressed when I wear this uplifting beauty.

Opens with bright, tangy citrus…..warming into fresh orange blossom through the middle section. The woods are very light, and the cedar/moss is the support structure for a gentle drydown. The overall effect is as clean and crisp as a freshly pressed white shirt, and just as easy to wear in a variety of situations.
Got a longer that expected longevity of about 6 hours and sillage is light/close to skin.
This particular scent is not the best fit for my personal style, but it is very nicely done, and would make a nice addition for fans of neroli, and lighter, sunny fragrances.

A very light, lovely orange blossom fragrance. It opens softly with mandarin and bergamot spiced up with basil and cardamom. Neroli and orange flower form the heart, with some floral green freshness from lily of the valley. The base has cedar and moss, and I get just a hint of vetiver. Musk and violet are also listed in the base notes, but my nose doesn’t detect them. It’s a beautiful fragrance for summer, but personally I’d wear it year round. Longevity is about 4 hours, which I think is good for an EDT of this kind. Sillage is soft and stays close to the skin. I plan on ordering a fb to add to my orange blossom/neroli fragrances.
UPDATE: This has become my top favorite out of the 21 neroli/orange blossom fragrances I own. I’ve purchased a FB, and I hope that it’s never discontinued. This is gorgeous, surpassing (IMO) even Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom!
