It features pink lychee, kumquat, pink pepper, flamboyant hibiscus, rose, Pao Rosa wood, palisander, and cotton flower. It was launched in 2001.

The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel.

You can tell the same nose created Madness and Si Lolita because these two have a similar texture even apart from the obvious pink pepper. Madness shows the weird side of rose, the adventurous side you don’t usually see. Fruity and sparkly from the pepper, but still a rose in there somewhere. It’s a beautiful modern spicy floral with fruit.
The bottle comes with a big sticker that says DO NOT REMOVE CAP. So of course after reading this I pulled the cap off anyway, not comprehending that the thing that looked just like a lid is the sprayer itself. Just a word of warning should you decide to try this. I broke the cap but it still sprays, which is good because I enjoy this a lot.
Some reviews mention cinnamon, but I think that is the pepper. Really best on a fall day. I do get the Nivea resemblance, too.

This was a blind buy for me as it was going cheap due to a broken spray nozzle. I’ve had it for several years now and didn’t like it when I first got it, as I was into fruitier florals then. While it’s not one that I instantly reach for, I have come to appreciate it more and find it a little complex but in a good way. As the nozzle is broken, I ‘dab’ it rather than spritz, so not sure if that would affect the overall effect. This is a heavy hitter, so I only use it sparingly. It needs to be given time to develop, becoming warm and musky after the initial hit of something almost berry like. It almost reminds me of DKNY Delicious Night (purple bottle) which I also have had for a few years from another blind buy. I only use it only during colder months as it feels too heavy for warmer months & is definitely a unisex perfume. Overall I like it and glad that I have kept it.

On me, that’s classic Nivea Creme in the blue tin, with a touch of spicy roses and sandalwood in the base. The fragrance has an also unmistakable leather accord to it. I like Madness.

I started wearing this only with the body lotion, and surprisingly got complements and I really like the performance of the lotion in my skin, so I decided to get the EDP and shower gel, wearing all today together for the first time, and I layer it first with a touch of B* Men, and was a nice combo. So far I am pleased.

On me it is such a beauty a peppery rose with a floral (hibiscus) and woody (rosewood) background that give Madness a sexy, classy vibe. Well balanced and out of ordinary this must be tested before buying, because you need to be a sexy, self confident woman to wear this. Although it is sweet, it is the sweetness of the rose and hibiscus not common sugaryness or vanilla sugary-ness. Very potent, lasts for 8 to 9 hours with heavy to moderate sillage for 3 to 4 hours. Not adequate to people whose only love are very sugar-y and cloying perfumes and who have no time for flowers.

I found a bottle of this gem in my parents’ house recently. I guess this scent is responsible for my love of peppery roses, by the way.
What is challenging about it is that it is both spicy and powdery. It is soft and full-bodied. Spice and flowers are so well blended that you never know which facet will take the upper hand over the other – it is unpredictable. Finally, the hibiscus and rose notes prevail after an hour, but the scent retains a smattering of its initial insolence. You never get ethereal flowers, but earthly ones – and their stems are thorny.
So sad Madness was discontinued !

Extremely powdery and old fashioned rose. It’s horrible on me! I get no spice, no sweetness just a powdery, dusty, musty old fashioned rose.

I was rummaging through my box of vintage/discontinued frags and I stumbled on Madness. I had completely forgotten I had it. I tried it on my hand … and I fell madly in love with it.
It’s hard to describe, but I’ll give it a try. On me, this is sweet, but very far from the Yankee Candle, bakery, candy-floss type. It’s a grown-up, creamy, delicious, rosey sweet. I think it’s the pepper that tames the sweetness. And it’s a good pepper, not a sneeze-inducing one. I don’t get the burnt tyre that some people complain about. Nothing plastic, or anything like that.
Yes, it’s strong and I love it for that. And the sillage is excellent. A spritz or two is all you need. More and you’ll overdo it and ruin the effect.
If those around me get offended by this, well, they’ll just have to move over to their olfactive safe space. This beautiful scent is worth being left on my own. Let me just add that on me, this is a gourmet sweet, not gourmand. Lucky me!

I love chillies and spicy food so having a perfume that assults you with it’s scent is strangely appealing to me. The opening is like fireworks exploding with sparkling kumquat and peppery rose over sweet musky woods. I liked it when it came out but as a poor uni student, I wasn’t brave enough to buy it. The opening scared me a little and I worried I wouldn’t wear it enough. I’ve just added it to my collection and the opening isn’t the same nose numbing, screacher it used to be. Maybe I’ve become less sensitive or the juice has mellowed with age. Either way I’m so happy to have this scent in my life again.

This is indeed a strange one. At first application I felt nauseous, every whiff was an assault of pink pepper and rose that simply would not yield. It made my stomach turn. I was tempted to scrub it off with the passion of a thousand burning suns, but I decided to wait it out to see if it would morph into something more palatable, and that it did… after about two hours on my skin.
Eventually it thus turned into a spicy, warm oriental, still very rosy, but the pepper is nicely tamed. A pencil shavings note is indeed present, as a previous reviewer stated. In fact, at this point I would even call “Madness” a pleasant and unusual composition. I have no idea when I would wear this, but somehow I am glad to have a mini of it in my collection. This is really a love-hate scent.

I remember about 15 years ago, at the perfume counter in Debenhams, that you could test this, not on strips of card, but on bright red feathers! I also remember loving it and hating this at the same time..a weird but wonderful combination of notes!

    MAD ABOUT MADNESS
    _______________________________________________________
I had the opportunity to test this wonderful frangrance today, and waht can I say… I’m mad about Madness.
It opens with an explosion of Hibiscus and right there you can see that ‘Madness’ is not for everybody. The explosion takes its time to calm down, and after an hour or so, you can sense the warm woody notes. The drydown occurs after approx. 2 hours, when one can feel the soft pepper and a hint of rose.
Overall: I love when a frangrance is powerful. It is strong and in your face. That is why it can be somehow overwhelming to some people. That is why, you should be advised before purchase.
    Longetivity: – 5/10
    Sillage: medium – 5/10
All in all: 7 out of 10 points.

I would say that Madness really has a split personality, so the name fits juice very well! The way it develops is shocking every time I wear it. The opening is sharp like a razor, as nose-burning as the smell of wasabi. (No, it does NOT smell like wasabi at all! It’s just the best example I can give.) To be honest I find that opening to be the worst and most godawful I’ve encounted to this day. It takes a long time – up to 45 minutes mintues before it changes noticably. At that point it turns into a very soft, non-offending skin scent – that type of scent that is hard to remember the next day. Odd, but definitely interesting. I’ve given it several chances, but I have to give up. Most of the time I can wait for an umpleasant opening to wear off, but not this time. The heart and base aren’t interesting enough to be worth the suffering, especially not when it takes this long. Not recommended as a blind buy! Still, it’s very pleasant if you can wait for it. But in case you like the opning, there’s a risk you will be disappointed later on. Normally I’m fond of “chameleon fragrances” as I call them, but sadly, not this time.

I truly don’t understand all the dislikes, which I honestly think as unjustified. This is pleasant and I often get compliments for it. It is indeed a “peppery rose” but very well done…and the pepper note is sharp maybe for only the first couple of minutes. Not overly sweet, not annoying or offensive in any way. It is actually kind of elegant and very feminine in its own very unique way. original…doesn’t remind me of anything, and this is a quality.

  19. :

    3 out of 5

It’s so interesting! It’s a must for anyone who likes a very unusual rose.
I get pepper, pepper, pepper, pepper, then more pepper on rosewood, a bug lusty hunk of rosewood for the first 45 minutes or so, THEN, a touch of rose peeks out. It’s just ever so lightly softened by something fruity. Lychee? IDK. Honestly, it’s hard to tell. This pepper is making my nostrils tingle, but strangely, I kind of like it. I have NO IDEA where I would wear this scent, but it certainly is interesting. It’s kind of a “kick ass, and take names later” kind of scent.
I’m going to sleep soon, and it’s still pretty strong. I’ll probably be dreaming of chopping wood with my bare hands Bruce Lee style.

Fragrantica (or shall I say frantica ) has done it again .. I was “frantic” and full of anticipation awaiting my madess in the mail. And first spray .. uhmm medicinal. 20 minutes later – still smells like cough medicine.
Hopefully I wont have trouble getting rid of my 5 ml mini with all you lovers .. Im a hater. Not often do I feel the need to go and scrub, but this is a time
Just need to figure out the swapping process .. built up a few

What an inspired combination of perfume notes. I love it. I love the rose scent but it is so easy to create a middle of the road perfume with it. This is sophisticated and classy. Definitely for the independent and go getting type of woman. Its for a confident woman. The sillage is average on me but it lasts for hours and hours. The pepper is stimulating and I think it heightens the other notes in the perfume. Its a bit like lightly sprinkling modena vinegar on fresh strawberries to intensify their taste. Its powerful and ‘m amazed it doesnt trigger a migraine for me.

EDIT: This perfume is my favorite. It reminds me of wooden pencil shavings. This perfume actually has a very woodsy vibe (which I failed to mention before) and I love that. I’m going to have to buy a bigger bottle now.
I love Madness. The first spritz is pure pink pepper followed by a piercing sharp rose. Intense, or “really bad bengay” as somebody told me after I just put some on. Madness settles down (eventually) soft, sweet, and musky, but it is the pepper I smell on me the longest. I love pepper in perfume. I feel like I could use this perfume to spice up any other perfume in my wardrobe when it comes to layering scents. Strong at first, the scent settles and then come the compliments. If this appeals to you, I wouldn’t worry to much about blind buying. I got this for a pretty good price on Amazon.

Update … well my new bottle has arrived from Israel (eBay) and I find that the candy floss is indeed missing from the middle notes and beginning of the drydown 🙁 The red berry top note has been replaced by kumquat, I see, which gives it a briefly pleasantly bitter waft up front, interesting. I prefer the old formula, though. And the rosewood has been replaced as well. Still gorgeous and the drydown is beautiful, but I yearn for the old formula.

Well damn! This is one of my very favourites and it looks to have been reforumulated 🙁 The last bottle I had lasted some time, and I see now by this visit to Fragrantica that it no longer contains the candy floss note (which made it smell good enough to eat), nor the Brazilian rosewood. I also don’t see the red berries, either. The top notes used to be red berries, pink peppercorn and lichee. The kumquat note was never there before, either. It’s a fragrance not made to wear to dinner. Not for everyone but the symphonic drydown is just exquisite. The middle notes that come out are just so delicious. I happen to like the initial blast of pink pepper and lychee. I have just ordered a new bottle from eBay … we’ll see if it’s relatively the same. I hope so, I am in love with this perfume. A perfect casual scent for cold autumn days, not for work or dress-up. Why must they mess with everything?! Rumba and Shalimar have changed, too, and not for the better.

  26. :

I had to get this because of the name.. I love the pink pepper and the lichi however the rose is just too strong for me… It is a nice rose, sweet not a moldy type that I often find but still I prefer rose as a background not an in your face note.. So not for me personally..
If you like strong, sweet, fresh rose this is great and if you like strong pink pepper I would recommend Madness as it also has good sillage and great lasting power.

A big crushed peppercorn. That’s all. Pepper assaults my nose. What and why is this modern obsession with sticking pepper in fragrances? I don’t dig it or get it.

Stay away from Madness if you dislike strong roses notes . This is my case , I cannot appreciate Narciso Rodriguez for her eau de parfum , Bulgari Rose essentielle for instance but Madness opening notes give me even a bit of nausea probably beacause of the combo rose-fruit .
I wonder why I dislike so much strong roses in some perfumes… just like I prefer chocolate on a slice of bread instead of into a fragrance , I prefer strong roses perfume among petals .
I read below that Madness is similar to … Fendi ?! They could not be more different in my opinion ( I refer to Fendi first formula , not Fendi 2004 that I never tried ) .

  30. :

    3 out of 5

I must have this one. I love strong, spicy and floral.
Update: Wearing Madness now. I can’t figure this fragrance out. But, I think I am going to like it. When I first put it on, it reminded me of Le Feu d’Issey which was one of my very favorites. I like the strong, peppery top notes. Once it dries down I will probably be able to make a more acurate assessment.

Not at all masculine…but definitely not at all soft and girly. This fragrance is the opposite of most popular scents. I wouldn’t even know where to begin describing it, but it IS love or hate with this one. It feels like a winter fragrance. Hard to say why, but Madness is a very fitting name for it.

This smells remarkably simalar to Fendi by Fendi. Im really happy about that becuse Fendi was one of my favorite sencts that was discontinued and cannot find anywhere!!! Nyoka was kind enough to give me a sample of this wonderful perfume-thanks Ny!!! Love this sandlewood richenss in this scent.

  33. :

Madness is love or hate. I love it. Sweet, but smoky sweet. Peppered, burnt cotton candy (not cotton flower, see Chopard’s website) over heady, creamy roses. Quite strong and warm. Very sharp opening, but dries down quickly.
Sexy in an almost “vulgar” fashion. You have to be into this sort of thing. I would not blind buy if you are new to perfume.
    Update:
This actually works as a unisex on some men. I sprayed some on my boyfriend and it smelled awesome. His chemistry really magnified the smokiness and it was sweet, but masculine. Very sexy.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

This perfume reminds me a lot of the fragrances of the 80’s, and in particular Fendi’s Fendi, but slightly softer.
I find it rather nice, and it adds variety to my current perfume repertoire.
It is a night perfume, velvety, a bit dark, heavy and spicy on the woody side.
The dry-down is wonderful, woody, sweet, a bit spicy, just the kind of smell I like. Pity that it doesn’t smell stronger.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Testing it out now, and they are not kidding one bit when they say shocking and sharp, so far its nothing but that .
I am hoping to keep it on long enough to see if it becomes softer or anything nice to my nose, but already it seems like it is giving me a headache ,
I was hoping for the Rose
    to arrive
    .

  36. :

This is a moody, pissed off, wilting rose that is going through “rose menopause”. First impression to me is no. I will try again another time, when it’s cooler and the kids aren’t annoying me. Categorically not my cup of tea. Too floral, and not a fresh floral.
EDIT: I gave it another chance. You know, I thought maybe my nose was having a bad day. Poor poor nose. All these wonderful notes that people are picking up… pepper? Cotton candy? Hibiscus? Really? I feel really cheated with the rosy mess I bought blindly. I wanted pepper spray dammit 🙁

As others have said, you will either love or hate this one,as it is loud and sexy. Sweet, woody, and there’s a rose in there too. This is not a wedding day fragrance, wear it to an art gallery. It will make an impression of your individuality. Beware, the different notes conspire against you and hit you simultaneously from all angles. It is very different from anything else you have tried, or is it a little like Mania? Do not blind buy, even though it is cheap. Even though it has been around for quite a while, I stumbled upon it only a couple of weeks ago. I love the bottle, too! I’ll give it 9/10 but I would never wear it to work, nor in the summer.

I agree that pink pepper is a current cliche but I also agree that it’s use in Madness is fully justified. This is a fresh and spicy rose that gathers depth as it goes along and the drydown rosewood base is fantastic! Great longevity without overly insistent sillage, warmth and sensuality without too much sweetness. This is a gem that deserves more attention.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

Pink pepper is used and abused far too much. But in Madness this trend note that I usually can’t stand is used to striking effect. Why? Well, because it’s mad, bad, and dangerous to know: not soft and girly pink with some weak spice beneath, not pink pepper strewn on your pasta as a foodie’s afterthought…the pink pepper of Madness is bold and gleefully peppery, daring you to sneeze. Madness is aptly named; a little weird and inappropriate but with so little insight into the deviation that it’s living its own kind of dream. This is the Madness of a film siren going off the rails; Valley of the Dolls. It’s not just the name and concept either, there’s something so feminine yet a little dark about Madness, old-fashioned, far more traditionally perfumey than the pyramid or presentation would suggest. If even a well done pink pepper doesn’t do it for you, consider waiting out the first thirty minutes. The drydown is earthy rosewood; girl surfers waxing down boards back in the day. The lychee and hibiscus are very novel, and nose Nagel blended them to a modern art kind of abstractness that hints at but doesn’t go full theme tropical. Madness isn’t quite complex or exciting enough to warrant being a signature scent, but it’s a formidable novelty piece. I can’t help but think of a Devo hat being worn by Oops-era Britney Spears but all the while at a 1960s cocktail party. In a good way.
In corporeality, in presence and shameless voluptuousness that those who like quiet, polite scents might call “vulgar,” Madness recalls Givenchy’s Organza. The slightly oldschool but resolutely updated contradiction of Madness is similar to the Galliano edp’s pink but not insipid femininity.
The main draw here is that Madness can be found very inexpensively right now. But I wouldn’t suggest just blind buying Madness; as other reviewers have said, this is really an acquired taste, and its beauty could be missed if you expect too much or demand instant gratification.
If you like repulsion/attraction scents, plenty of spice, and celebratory femininity that doesn’t approach celeb fruity floral hell, try this. You might find this surprisingly well-blended. Honestly, I think this is what celebrity fragrances should and could be, so many celebs love to reference other eras and make a sport of nostalgia, and this scent is an enigmatic but wearable slice of pop. And it’s going cheap, and I love it for that.
Longevity: my skin usually kills anything in a few hours, even the notorious everlasting gobstoppers, but this crazy Madness can last twelve hours.
Sillage: the bar tender will smell you across the bar, you won’t have to sniff right at your wrist. How refreshingly candid as only a departure from the sane and plain can be. That said, naturally not an office perfume.
Occasion: dancing, concert, party, or just being your fiery bad self at home ’cause this is sort of a comfort scent.

  43. :

    3 out of 5

Like the reviewer before me said, you definitely won’t get anyone messing with you while you’re wearing this; no one will get close enough to do any messing.
Pink pepper is a fantastic note, one that I really love. And I can smell it very strongly in this perfume. It is, sadly, completely and utterly ruined by the horrific synthetic scent that completely overwhelms any other notes. Pepper and chemicals. This has all the subtlety of a Viking axe to the face (let’s continue this theme!)
And strong! Wowee, you could smell it coming three leagues away. There’d be no pillaging going on, the villagers would have relocated the entire settlement by the time you got there.
Don’t even -think- of blind buying this. I would have more luck finding cotton candy in a longboat than in this awful juice.
Edit: If anyone wants to trade for this, I’ve got a 30ml bottle with (slightly damaged) box and about 5ml used up. Send me a PM.

To my surprise I just found my red bottle of this hiding and lurking among my current Northern Hemisphere summer-time scents. Despite the heat, I sprayed it on to experience it again as the day cooled into evening.
Woody, arresting, sharp (initially) and very strong. A sillage monster on me, and it’s my winter-time “don’t mess with me today” scent. Clears out the cobwebs and makes me stand up straighter.
I imagine beserker Vikings would have liked this before going into battle in the days of yore. I hear them coming over the hill. It’s a cool night, I’ve doused myself, and I’m ready for the lot of them. 🙂

Chopards Madness is a bit mad, in a good way. When first sprayed you think it’s pepper-spray (literally) but hold on! Give it a chance! If you allow it to settle, a beautiful rosewood note thanks you for it and gets slowly accompanied by hibiscus and something sweet, not cotton candy to my nose but definitely litchi. This one is not for everyone, you could even say it’s an acquired taste.
I love notorious Ladies like: Cabochard, Bandit, Magie Noire, etc. so, I am not quickly daunted by “heavy” characters and this one is a heavy character for sure, bordering on unisex but somehow a strong feminine, elegant dry down prevents it from being too masculine. This one is best ‘let out’ during evening, and is definitely one you should not buy blind!
The silage is great, the longevity is 5+ hours on me. It’s a powdery pepper with a woodsy (almost incense-like) edge, wrapped in a hint of florals and sprinkled with a dash of litchi. Madness, but I like it.

On me this is a woodsy(rosewood and Patchouli)with spicy pepper and a fruity-berry sort of topnote that could remind someone of cough syrup . I also get some tobacco notes .Overall this could probably be very easily pulled off by a man as this reminds me of Chanel Egoiste,Marc Jacobs Bang and Gres Cabaret (feminine) with some added Lychee in the top-to-mid.
I LOVE it and plan on backing up a few bottles!

On me, a harsh, horrid perfume. I took it to work and offered it free to whoever wanted it. No-one did. Deeming it not even suitable for a toilet spray (the usual ignoble end for stinkers) I threw out 100ml. The next time at the chemist I tried it again, thinking that mine must have been old. It was the same. I said to the Sales assistant “Do people really buy this one?” She laughed and said “There’s worse, I guess.” I don’t know about that. I don’t want to smell as sharp as crushed tomato stem. It never got to soft, powdery or elegant on me. SheShe sees a woman with mental problems wearing this. Yep, I’d say if this perfume smelled on you like it does on me, you’d have to be bloody mad to wear it.

  49. :

I blind bought Madness Chopard because of notes listed and good reviews. Well, it’s not what I expected to be… I find this perfume to be very sharp and bold, more on a masculine side. I don’t detect any roses notes, even less litchi or coton candy.
Not sure if I will wear this perfume, so if anybody wants to SWAP pm me.
UPDATE: Hmmm… I don’t really like this perfume, buy I feel like I need this sharp, agressive scent in my collection. What a weard perfume!..
UPDATE #2: This perfume is growing on me. I like it more and more. But it’s not an every day perfume for sure. It has its own personality and I have to be in a right mood to wear it. And once Madness is on me it makes me feel stronger, more secure and more confident!

Can anyone tell me whether this contains salicylates? I’m allergic to them so not sure whether I can use my sample.

  51. :

    3 out of 5

This is such a surprising fragrance, in a good way! Litchi is a very perfumey smelling fruit, but with the pink pepper to tone down its sweetness, the opening blast is spicy/sweet, but not in a cloying way. I adore hibiscus as it has a slightly acidic tang to it naturally and once again, once the perfume has dried down the hibiscus comes to the fore but it never becomes overpowering. The combination of rosewood and cotton candy in the base balance out this sweet yet dry fragrance.
A really unusual and individual perfume – very well done!

  52. :

    5 out of 5

Sparkling, individual, definitely not for any lady and moment. I cannot see a woman wearing this if she is surrounded by other women, it just triggers lots of intrigue and envy, though it is perfect as a mysterious seduction tool, at a classy dinner. The perfume speaks loud about the self-confident, mature attitude of a queen.

After reading the excellent reviews I had to get a bottle. well… this is the one. I was looking for something different, light fun , a little crazy. Here it is. not over powering but it’s definetely ther! and what’s even better, it’s the first time i gt a compliment from this great guy I fancy! LOL
Is there a little magic ion the bottle?

madly in love with madness! madness isn t a scent for everyone. you have to be selfconfident and very feminine and sexual. a true get-attention scent but in a good way. men love it! reminds me to ultrared from paco rabanne because of the marshmellow note anf the redish sweet-hot vibe – let’s call it madness’ very little sister 😉 madness is of course thicker, complexer, louder and edgier, rather suitable for nights out than for daywear. sometimes i wear it as well for a shopping-afternoon when i feel in the mood to style me up right 🙂 it let’s you feel vampy and it underlines the sexiness of a selfconfident woman dressed elegant and stylish, red lips, red heels, little black dress and black opaque tights. perfect >!<
now i m suprised to learn the nose behind is christine nagel… she’s usually composing of course beautiful, but shy and soft scents as i know!
madness is a true gem in the perfumeworld, a unfortunately discontinued one. luckily you need to applie just a bit and a bottle goes along far.
nb. madness has also this poison-vibe in the bottom-note because of the complexity of the blend and the precious rose/rosewood-combo which you can find in all poison perfumes from dior (less pure poison). with closed eyes just smelling you could easely think of a new version of the poison range from dior.

LOVE LOVE LOVE MADNESS…..one perfume that i am always asked what i’m wearing. Hard to get a hold of. This was first given to me by my best friend duty free. Said as soon as she smelt it, it reminded her of me.

I bought my first bottle of this, unsmelled, at Big Lots for 5.00. 4 bottles later Im buying it online for 35.00, so maybe there was a method to Mr Chopards madness.;-) Im glad I bought it without smelling it because if I had I never would have spent the 5.00. This is one of those fragrances whos first impression isnt necessarily the best impression. My advice-try it on before you walk away. Its definately a jewel in the rough, so to speak.

Now this is an attention getter!!! Unlike anything I have ever smelled before in my life. I am not sure yet whether I like this or not. The wood note is overwhelming on me and I can’t really get any of the other notes to come out on my skin. This is probably something I would never buy but I am very glad I got to test this. I am on the fence at this time. Not a like but not a dislike. I will give it another try later in the winter when the snow flies and see how it smells then.

I would like it, because it’s a passionate fragrance, if only I didn’t detect a burnt tyre in it! It ruined the whole smell…
It’s a wild smell 😉 I see a woman with some mental problems, loving a man very very much. It’s a fragrance of a mad sex and calming down afterwards. Strong hibiscus, peppery note with wood, lasting power is good, the bottle looks OK. If only there wasn’t the tyre 😛

Pink peper. A note that gets to me almost every time. First sniff, oh spicy, it burns; yet it doesn’t! Olfactory receptors start performing salto mortale and seriously consider harakiri.
Second sniff, yummy, stings like a sweet curry mix, erotic, exotic, intense, passionate, hot, hot, hot!
And so the 2 impressions interchange and intertwine until the second one prevails. That’s what I mean when I say pink pepper gets to me.
My skin amps it up to high heavens every time and it takes over most compositions, leaving all other notes in the shadow but I end up loving it.
To stop my rambling I’ll simply add that Madness, on my skin, is all about the p. pepper, a bit of rose and something sweet. Whether it’s litchi or candy floss, who knows?! All I know is that the pepper makes me think things I won’t share here and that I love the ride it takes me on every time.
This is a very peculiar combination of notes. Like a flock of individuals that came together only once in their lifetimes. And created something awesome!
The red colour is super fitting and the bottle looks like the juice inside runs on electricity and the wires are running around the squares; red, crazy…and every time you put it on it feels as if you licked the end of a half dead battery.
    Wow.

I generally favour orientals but I find Madness way too spicy for my taste. Sorry, not a fan. I ended up using it as air freshener in the loo at work.
