Description

After the new edition for men, Monsieur Eu Du Matin, which has been available in stores since April 1st 2008, a new fragrance for women, which will complete Gaultier’s magic collection of fragrances, is announced for September 2008.

If we do not count Gaultier’s seasonal plays with colorite and notes, which are variations of the legendary perfume Classique, the last perfume presented to female audience was Fragile in 1999. Gaultier made a 9 year break before his latest edition, MA DAME (My Lady), which aims at younger audience and differs from previous editions. It was created in cooperation with BPI (Shiseido) and imagined as a contemporary sequence which completes the story told by Classique.

The perfume MA DAME was imagined and created as a fresh, floral one, and all merits for it go to perfumer Francis Kurkdjian (Takasago), who also created the famous Le Male and Fragile, just to remind you.

MA DAME includes sporty notes of rose, grenadine, musk and cedar. The bottle was designed as a transparent block of glass, coloured in pink, with an engraved sculpture of the legendary Classique. The outer package is white, with pink and black print. It is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml edt, with an accompanying perfumed body care collection.

This was love at first spritz. Bright, crystalized orange and beautiful, unique grenadine; a backdrop of sharp rose, complimenting that fresh sparkling orange perfectly; a complexity coming through from the base, which is cedar and woods, but which feels both warm and a little green. Very different from the EDP, which is all rose and cedar, the sultry face of the same coin.
MaDame EDT is a scent that gives a positive vibe, radiates well and smells unique, rich and edgy; a feel-good scent that will get noticed. Long-lasting, personal-cloud sillage. Spritz and smile!
Edit: I feel so lucky to have found this fragrance before it gets too rare to buy at a reasonable price. It is a masterpiece – by which I mean that the perfumer precisely hit the mark of the notional wearer of this perfume: modern, daring, playful, androgynous; the sweetly unconventional rule-breaker. From the bottle design right up to that joyfully jarring grenadine burst: a fragrance idea realised, note-perfect.

I have a tiny sample of this and I absolutely LOVE the bottle, it’s gorgeous!
But one of the notes in this just doesn’t agree with me, it smells like orange rubber..
I wanted to like this but it’s so synthetic..
Maybe I’ll try it again in July or August.

For the life of me I really can’t put my hand on the note that is making this fragrance stand out as it does ! I read all the notes provided but no there is something missing … Anyways , this is far from generic . I don’t understand how could anyone see it that way. I have had more perfumes than anyone can imagine and it is my long loved hobby and I can sincerely claim this is extremely unique and does smell expensive. I can recognize sweet orange and white flowers and a fruity scent as well as vanilla but this perfume is so different than sweety , gourmand , fruity or floral perfumes. It has incredible longevity and men love it to the extent that they wear it , I swear , although it is not unisex … It can be worn day or night , it is happy , energizing and confident…it is not a warm perfume unlike classique , the scent is cold , fresh, happy …

syrupy grenadine ( blood orange + passion fruit) + emulsion paint / burned pan! + fresh aquatic watermelon. Contradictions, like it.

Oh gosh pure sticky pink punch, artificially sweet and not pleasant, couldn’t wait to rub off my wrist – wouldn’t come off that easily.

This has a major watermelon vibe to me — and that is not a complaint. In a world of generic fragrances, Gaultier continues not to disappoint. I love this one so much (and, even nicer of him, it’s quite affordable) that I bought another 3.3 oz bottle to have on the desk. Cool bottle design, cool fragrance. Gorgeous.

Its a scent good for clubbing.
Interesting composition … Feel clearly the roses mixed with grenadine, strongly liqueur-drink, is also citrus, in this case orange, but feel citrus-lemon.
Longlasting fragrance, stays on the skin. It softens with time but still feels the same note, so it does not evolve very much.
Rather it is not a rockandroll young woman, but definitely in the club, neon lights, rather a girly girl in the club, a short mini, a strong make up with a glass of campari in a hand.
This fragrance makes me feel younger.

I bought a 1oz bottle for $8 and I don’t regret my purchase. I wanted something different in my collection and Ma Dame fit the bill. It starts out with a burst of sweet ripe orange, syrupy grenadine, and then tones down with some rose, rubbery-plastic accord that I really much appreciate and musk. Its super modern and youthful. It’s one of the best long lasting EDT’s I’ve came across. I could get whiffs of it while driving and all through out the day. 2 sprays is more then enough for me. I don’t know why it was discontinued, it’s a really good fragrance. Maybe the simple packaging wasn’t that appealing to the masses.
Edit:After days of getting to the scent more, it started to smell very milky and creamy. Almost like creamsicles. I can’t stop smelling my wrist. It’s very intoxicating and addicting.

Oh Ma Dame! An unexpected favourite for me since I do not normally like sweet or orange scents. I absolutely love Francis Kurkdjian’s creations and this is no exception. The fresh initial blast of orange and grenadine that tones down into a delicious blend of citrusy, woody musk. To me this is for a flirty and fun mood used perhaps on a summer night out, a festival or a party. I am so sad that I have so little in my bottle left and since I cannot get it anywhere in my country I use it sparingly. When this came out I got it as a gift and wasn’t drawn to it so it sat in my cupboard for a couple years! A tragedy indeed!

This is my 6th bottle. And considering that some were 100ml bottles, I can safely say that this is my favourite perfume so far.
It has a flowery yet musky feeling throughout the day, with a hint of citrus and wood in the beginning. Love it.

i could really love this, but what i get is lemons. there’s a lot i like about this scent but the lemons keep overpwering it. 8 hours later (i spray my clothes as well) and lemons are still prominent.

Grenadine and cedar with hints of orange and rose. I wasn’t sure about this but keep on thinking about it. I had a lotion first and enjoyed it enough to buy a bottle.

This is my second review and now it’s a while I own and wear it
I totally agree with XoxoMyke, great description!
Now I see how synthetic MA Dame is,synthetic not in a bad way, there is some strange sweet orangey plastic note here which is kind of nostalgic, something like scented rubber dolls or small clear fantasy erasers I had once as a child, even rose and orange notes seem fantasy and plasticity,MA Dame is a fantasy neon orange, pink scent in childhood’s Wonderland,I don’t love it as a perfume, yet I find it interesting
It’s very zest and flashy in opening but after a while there is more sweetness and it dries down to a sweet plastic orange-pomegranate,a hint of rose and very strong sedar wood..it’s not that masculine but it can be definitely unisex if it makes sense
I don’t regret buying it but I feel 3.4 oz it too much for me,I can’t wear it daily though smelling it sometimes is a pleasure
A lot of people believe JPG fragrances are love or hate,it’s weird that I don’t love or hate most of them,or maybe I love and hate them the same time, very difficult to describe but I’m sure about something.ma dame, classique edp and edt and gaultier 2 are all interesting for me,I sometimes miss them and reach for them but I can’t even think of wearing them daily even for one week

Ma Dame is such a fun, uplifting fragrance!
The opening is a neon orange sparkle with a sweet, plastic/vinyl accord. Plastic? Yes, think of those inexpensive, clear plastic vinyl travel bags that you store your decanted lotions/shampoos/conditioners when you board an airplane. That is the plastic that is the rebellious star in Ma Dame. The scent of plastic is already sweet, in my opinion, and the grenadine plays it up. Don’t fret, the sweetness is nothing distracting or obvious like most of the modern women’s fragrances targeted to those under 30. The rose offers a just a SLIGHT powdery vibe. Let me state I am not a fan of powdery fragrances. And with that said, I enjoy Ma Dame’s extremely tame and well-behaved powdery facet. The drydown is soft musky and sweet plastic.
When I overspray Ma Dame, I find it gets much more masculine. The black licorice/anise nuance people talk about is brought to the forefront and so is the citrus vibe. I enjoy it much more this way so I always spray 6 to 8 times when I wear it!

this thing smells (to me) like nothing in the description. Very fresh, very fruity (like.. apples? Pineapples? Pineapple juice…?)… the kind of fragrance that you can spray a ton on and not get sick of. I own this fragrance. nonetheless I would recommend no more than 2 spritzes every 6-8 hrs. 5/5!

Tested this perfume out because I have been looking for a doll smelling perfume and was recommended this.
I found it very synthetic smelling but in a good way, I like it. And I do think it smells a bit like a doll.

I have never seen ma dame any where in my town,so when I saw a sample of it in my father’s house,I became really happy and eager to test it,what a pleasure!
I’m writing this review with shaking hands while I know that I’m going to find and buy it even if it’s really difficult
I didn’t find it syntethic at all, what a unique fresh scent!
I don’t know how grenadine smells but I can smell juicy, tart, mouth watering fruits,I guess pomegranat or cherry or something like this, also sweet and bitter orangy citrus note, lovely delicate rose and dominant woodsy cedar
Honestly Iam not a fan of opening part,it was too zesty and loud, but in couple of minutes it turns to a gorgeous, bright, uplifting fresh fruity rose scent with a powerful woody dry down..this woody dry down prevents it from being a girly, too much young generic floral fruity
Another plus is about it’s very good longevity and lovely bottle
I really love whatever jpg fragrance I have tested upto now
Edit:Tested it again and I’m really confused, this time it was just a big no,no for me..it lacks slightest hint of sweetness, very sour and very woody and this time I could’nt detect any rose…I think I need to test it once more or find a sample before ordering a full bottle

Showing my collection some love and wearing Ma Dame for several days in a row. 🙂 I commented on this before but have to say that this is even more beautiful in spring than in summer. Feeling fresh all day long and the Cedar note really stands out on me. Looooveeee it! And the bottle is so fun and perfect to carry it in my purse (30ml).

Okay, so, this is going to sound a bit weird… there’s a collection of comics that comes out monthly in paperback format in Sweden called Kalle Ankas Pocket and I read those throughout my childhood (in fact, I still read and appreciate them whenever I go back home). In one of the issues there was a story featuring Mickey Mouse solving the mysterious disappearance of a priceless Chinese slipper. As he went over to the mansion the slipper was stolen from to interrogate the baroness he was offered “liquorice juice”. This smells EXACTLY like I imagined that liquorice juice would taste like.
This is a scent that reads both black and fuchsia to me so the color scheme of the marketing campaign is spot on. Intriguing! I can’t stop smelling it. This is what Tommy Hilfiger Loud should have been (and probably tried to be, but failed miserably). I am really taking a liking to this Francis Kurkdjian guy.

Ma dame is so original. I’ve never smelled a perfume which makes me think immediately of cake and citruses. It’s a fresh and full of energy fragrance. Nice for spring and even hot, humid weather. It definitely doesn’t smell cheap or artificial, nor nauseous. It’s perfect for those days when you put on your skinny jeans, plaid shirt, suede anckle booties and want to feel fresh and chic at the same time.

  22. :

I’ve been wearing this perfume for so many years by now, but I’ve never written a review because I didn’t know where to begin. I’m about to finish the fourth bottle, so it’s high time I wrote something about it.
I think that Ma Dame is one of the few perfumes that suits me divinely, just as a tailored dress would do. On my skin it creates a perfect blend, it evolves into a sensual, sassy and soothing scent.
I see that many people complain about its being (too) synthetic but for me it’s sharply irresistible and unique. At the beginning it’s like a slap in your face, if you wanna say so, but when it dries down it actually calms down. The woodsy notes as well as the musk emerge and mix with rose and grenadine. There’s a lot of rose indeed, and the cedar is prominent too.
It’s impossible not to think about the commercial starring Agyness Deyn and the 00s indie-rock vibes coming from the entire product. Ma Dame is definitely an iconic fragrance, lifestyle in a bottle. Outrageous, brash and darn sexy. Contradictory as our age, maybe, and absolutely modern. A modern classic/classique – the bottle encapsulates the concept, doesn’t it? It’s a statement fragrance with great lasting power and good projection. Daring but not old, heavy and outdated. I will never get tired of it, I love it…and men tend to love it too.

Omg… I blind bought this…. Then gave it away. Too strong on cedar, grenadine, and orange to the point that it’s nauseating. IMO it does not smell good at all!

  26. :

    4 out of 5

I blind-bought a 50ml of this awhile ago for a good price, thinking I would love it or at least LIKE it…why not? it’s fun! it’s pink! it’s gaultier! the bottle’s wearing a SEX COLLAR, for god’s sake, how could I pass this up?! well, turns out this really is not my cup of tea. it’s an extremely crisp scent, and I’m getting orange, grenadine, and cedar in approximately equal amounts. it’s fun, it’s cheeky, it’s all pop art neon watermelon bubblegum…but…it also smells of plastic. I was hoping that this persistent, disturbing undertone of plastic-sunscreen-fake musk would eventually subside to reveal a juicy, candy fruity sweetness or something but alas, I get plastic fruits and nothing more from this. I suppose the cedar-musk base just doesn’t work for me, or maybe, in the cheeky pop tradition of Gaultier…it’s SUPPOSED to smell weird and plasticky? Like PVC sex shop clothes? I’m definitely getting a sex shop vibe from this…the ubiquitous cheap fruity (usually strawberry) air freshener, PVC undergarments, various fruity tasting lubricants…in spite of the raunchy vibe I’m getting, I feel like this would maybe smell fantastic on a younger (teen and younger) girl, but I’m in my 20s now and I think my chemistry has “ripened” a bit too much to pull off these tutti-frutti-plastic-fantastic perfumes anymore.
for those in the States who might like or love it, I am currently trying to swap my 50ml 99% full bottle for something more my taste. PM if you are interested 🙂

I remember smelling the magazine sample back in 2008 I thought “wow this is soo unique, powdery, energizing & nothing I have ever smelled before also I love the bottle I have to have it” soo when I came up with the money and right about the time when I was going to purchase a bottle of this at Macy’s I found out that it was discontinued 🙁 soo a few years after that I finally found it online and I bought a big 3.3oz bottle which seemed to had gone bad because all I smelled was the musk and wood no citrus or grenadene rose the whole fragrance to the drydown so I had to get rid of the big bottle it was terrible so be careful about buying online because perfumes can go stale of not stored right in the correct conditions!… anyways recently I found a 1.7oz that was nice & fresh do I’m happy about that smells just as I remembered in the magazine sample very energizing and unique it is a must have in a perfume collection citrusy woody floral just fresh and overall a true masterpiece!

This is quite interesting and one of the few scents where I find all the notes almost equally strong. Citrus and rose being bright and sweet-tart and grenadine being VERY sweet-tart amping up both the citrus and the rose. It´s musky, but the cedar is what I smell the most in this concoction so it´s a woody scent to me where the other notes definitely brighten it up. I can agree that this is artificial smelling but unlike others I don´t necessarily find that to be a negative. Also, it´s not insipid in the least- on the contrary it´s exciting and different! To me it smells like a sweet and quite sour hard candy (maybe a new type of Altoid?) with an interesting cedar background. My man REALLY loves it, which surprised me; thought it would be way too fruity for him, but he enjoys it. It has great staying power for an eau de toilette and is STILL on my pashmina scarf even after hand washing it with mild soap! I think this scents is suitable for all seasons.

It’s fizzy, like a citrussy soda with grenadine, then vanilla powder with a little orange zest as it dries down. The bottle is fantastic, of course. I wore it a couple times, years ago, drastic fail. I gifted the bottle to my boss, and now it’s my pleasure to smell everyday.

Why haven’t I tried this one earlier? It’s gorgeous! The bottle, the packaging and the scent – just great.
It’s uber fresh but at the same time powdery, fruity and flowery. I cannot really pin it down but agree that this is def a happy fragrance. Zesty!
I whole-heartedly agree with passionata20 and pomdgf reviews. They are spot on – at least for me and my experience with this fragrance. 🙂 I think it’s the most modern – if you want to call it that – fragrance I own. When I wear it I instantly get a boost of energy.

This is a personal ” Summer Wine” for me. Bitter, Sweet, Fresh, Floral, Flirty, Tender, Young and Beautiful . It’s all I got from this fragrance. I love the combination of sweet grenadine, Beautiful rosy scent and fresh citrus. Although this is not an outstanding fragrance but trust me if you want to change from a sexy and working woman mode to a cutie and girly mode when you have to date with a cute guy this fragrance won’t let you down. Just in love in a simply way of this fragrance.
PS. I just don’t like to pull the paper out of the box. I got both of JPG fragrance + JPG cigarette box. 55

  34. :

    5 out of 5

    09. july 2015
Every summer i am addicted to a certain fragrance that i wear every now and then. This year it is a summer of Ma dame for me!!
Our relationship started long time ago with a huge dislike from my side. After being a devoted fan of another Gaultier´s creation “Fragile” EDP i was so shocked with this “misunderstanding” that i didn´t pay much attention to it anyway. Then i have tried the EDP of Ma dame, which i hoped would be more better, but it turned out that it was a completly different fragrance, same as with Fragile EDP and EDT. So i was done with Ma dame. Then once while being in the airport i was so bored with all the vanillas and gournmands on the shelves of tax free, i wanted a change, so i grabbed a bottle of Ma dame by accident and gave it a try! OMG!!!! What a change of taste! It is sooooooo refreshing and so unusual!!! I can´t even think of anything else smelling like this! Back then i thought it was very synthetic and sharp, but now i really enjoyed it. Refreshing, stimulating, joyful, crazy!!! Now i finally get the idea! It was on sale, so i grabbed a bottle and by now i am stocked, since i don´t want to be without it. I have already finished a bottle this year, which is something unheard of for me and going for the other bottle. It still might feel bit screechy for someone but for me this is a refereshing drink of orange lemonade within the ocean of suffocating vanillas and gourmands! Smells like acid 90ś underground rave parties!!!
maximum points from me for the enfant terrible and this creation! +++++
P.S. It is not discontinued, still featured on the official web site and in some shops, but the usual problem with distribution makes it harder to get, still it is very accessable in matter of price!

Just received this today – yes another blind buy. I was really hoping to pull out the grenedine & musk scent but instead it’s flowers…lots & lots of flowers, like I’ve been burried in them. Unfortunetly, this one is an epic failure on me.
Update: now that the weather has turned colder, I pulled this out for one more try. OMG! There’s just something about it that makes you want to sniff it more. It’s crisp but not sharp, the rose is there but not smothering…it’s just got that “wow” factor for me – but only in the cooler temps.

I gravitate more towards either orientals or woody citrus, so Ma Dame is simply not my cup of tea. That said immediately after spraying it I couldn’t get the image and memory of watermelon bubble gum out of my head.
I imagine this is what a 12 year old suburbanite must smell like after a long day at the mall…..
The opening is EXACTLY the smell of watermelon bubble gum, that same heady, synthetic fruitiness. It’s not offensive, just pure bubblegum fruit. Not much depth or complexity here, but if you love juicy fruity scents, you’ll love Ma Dame.

This is one of the most memorable perfumes I’ve had. Such a happy, bright, summer-y, flirty, fun fragrance. Someone also mentioned “neon” and loud, that too! On me I smell mostly the citrus, grenadine and roses and something else, all in a very unusual combination. Instant cheer up! 🙂
    Super long lasting too!
EDIT: Just bought another bottle of this one after a 2 years break and it’s still as good, smells and feels the same, love it just like before!
I feel as though this perfume is so special in a way that it adds something to my personality that I normally am shy to show off immediately: the openness and ready to converse in the most easy going way with just about anybody. A happy carefree fragrance! Reminds me of Summer and colorful cocktails by the beach every time I wear it.

This is strange one. Beginning is fresh with oranges and in few minutes it turns sweeter. The sweetness is not sugar-like it’s more like some medicine. Synthetic and powerful but not bad. Somehow plastic or synthetic and very strange. It’s a smell which makes you sniff your arm in every 5 minutes and makes you thin whether you like it or not.. Hard to identify the notes on me. Interesting and unique. Dry down is softer and very pleasant I think. Turns musky in time. Very strong for an edt.
Funny and different so this is one to keep. It gives so much thoughts.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

I love the opening, but its drydown is not so good anymore. Oranges are gone and only woody notes stay. I’d say it’s quite masculine. One of my best friends uses this for years and she’s sad because it’s discounted, but fortunately still available in some online stores.

  42. :

That pyramid up there is the picture of what I would assume to be a juicy, sweet, “pink” fragrance… so where in the world am I getting, dry, cold, thin, powdery, harsh… even metallic?
I swear I smell iris, almost exclusively.
I get NONE of the rose, for sure. I have an idea of what grenadine smells like, and, well… it’s not iris.
My most woeful foe, that sneaky bastard iris, can apparently shape-shift a perfume into itself on my skin. Ain’t that a bitch.

This is wonderful fragrance it comes off on me like a soda pop fizz like and orange pop or one of those orange ice creams. I dont get Anis, powder or real sweet synthetic cream… My Ma Dame came from airport in france that my brother in law bought for me. I dont get the sharp strong scent and people come up to me and ask me what are you wearing and wear do you get it… I wonder if the frag that people have is old. It the edt version too…but most frag work well with my body chemistry… I love it….

  44. :

    Zesty. Crisp. Synthetic.
This perfume is all about the grenadine! It’s fresh, loud and uplifting.
Impressive sillage and longevity for an EDT, easily 12hrs plus. It’s interesting for sure. It was gifted to me a while back, I never wear it though. It just doesn’t call out to me… never has. I find it too sharp and cloying.

  45. :

To me sniffing right from the bottle it smells harsh, cheap, synthetic and plasticy. maybe on the skin it changes, but my first impression is a chemical vat of toxic waste. I hope I am wrong here.

I had this and I absolutely loved it! I don’t think it is available anymore? Atleast, I haven’t seen it recently. It’s fresh, lively, but also bursting with some sort of juiciness. If I ever see it again, I will buy it again. The dry down is lovely. It’s a scent that you can wear during the day, and depending on the occasion, you could most likely get away with wearing it at night.
Edit: I finally found this when I happened to run into a cosmetic store to quickly pick up a couple of things and lo and behold, there was my beloved Ma Dame! And it was not nearly as much as I had paid for it originally when I first had it. I bought it and the second I got back into my car I tore into it hoping that this was not some cruel joke and that it would hopefully smell just as I remembered…it did. It’s a happy fragrance. Bright, but mature. Zesty and alive! Very feminine. Like grapefruit, but with almost a licorqice scent..maybe more on the fresh side of fennel. I don’t think just anyone could wear this. It’s intense. It’s a burst to the senses.
I went back and purchased a second bottle.

I LOVE THIS ONE! I can’t get enough. To me, it smells like glace cherries. I see a lot of negative comments, but this one makes my mouth water! I’ve struggled to find it in store in Australia.

I remember smelling this when it first came out and I thought it smelled like a citrus freshener you use to cover the odor of pet urine. Something in it was too sharp and metallic for my taste–so glad I only tried it on paper and not on skin…

I love most of the Jean Paul Gautier fragrances, so I was hoping this would be another one I would adore. Sadly that is not so. This is incredibly strong, almost too much so, and very long lasting. To fruity and way to sweet. On me it goes very powdery and the grenadine notes take front and center stage. That grenadine note is just too much for me.

Of course a “Gaultier Masterpiece” which was expected since I already own the Ma Dame edp appropriate for winter. This is a spring/summer perfume, long lasting and fresh combining citrus/rose/sweetness and presenting a unique aroma which will be noticed by many. The woody notes stand in the background without making the perfume at all heavy and suffocating. Lovely choice with a very nice bottle. Extra happy with it!!! True gem!!!

Oh, I much I loved this scent! It’s feminine, but in a girly way…the perfect scent to wear when you’re going out with friends to drink a fresh coktail, dance and have fun… Grenadine is the stronger note, and cause of it the scent is so funny and unusual!

Ok. I’ve been trying to write my review of this ever since I bought it, but I just couldn’t make sense of my feelings towards it. I’ve been having this for a year now, and been wearing it on and off. My conclusions now:
    -it’s pretty heavy, smells like powder mixed with vanilla and some fruits, with a nice longevity and sillage;
    -the bottle is nice, no cap, people, so don’t bother looking for it;
-the EDT is enough, I think the EDP could be soooo much!!! Beware what you choose!
    -smells in the range of Guerlain- L’Instant, but of course the quality differs from that point of view;
    -I do not love it, in fact I forgot I had it, when it finishes I won’t buy another bottle;
-quite safe fragrance, not unique or unforgettable!
I was not a blind buy, I smelled it in a duty free and had to choose between this and Insolence and chose it because I found it more appropriate for the season-summer! However I found Insolence more beautiful!

At first I must thank for the beautiful review written by Jitterbug Perfume Lover, I admire your grandmother, great woman for sure. I’ve nothing to add to this perfect review about Ma Dame.
This fragrance is apparently simple. It could be quickly classified as a fruity scent, a girly fragrance for summer. F. Kurkdjian is a great nose and I don’t think he creates something just to do something. Yes sense of humor and smile. Pink and non-conventional attitude. And above all, self confident personality, without being transgressive or becoming ridiculous. Ma Dame says “I’m what I am and I’m proud of it” with a touch of irony.

Unbelievable that this is an EDT! Its strength and longevity are amazing. It’s not a love for me, but I do like it. It’s a little girly and flirty. Great for a lazy weekend in the summer.
The grenadine stands out most to me. It’s sweet without being cloying. Upon first spray, I immediately knew I’d smelled it, or something like it, before. After about an hour of hard thinking, it hit me that Ma Dame smells identical to a perfume I used to wear in high school; Lucky You by Liz Claiborne. It really does smell similar; however, it’s not near as powdery.
The note accords are right on point; sweet, citrusy, woody and a little fruity. I purchased this today, as a 30ml bottle was on clearance at Ross for $16.99, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
I also think the bottle is pretty unique.

I loved it when it first came out. I acquired a big bottle as soon as i had the chance to go through duty free. But I think that the advertising campaign and pretty bottle spoke to me more than the perfume itself. I fail to wear it. I never reach for it. I find the scent well crafted and the plastic-fruity notes unique. But putting the fragrance on doesn’t excite me. It doesn’t make me feel special or pretty. It doesn’t comfort me. It never became a part of me.
I thought of selling it but I see that bottles of Madame go for next to nothing. So i sometimes use 1 spray on my girls before school as it smells nice but also so neutral that a 7 year old can easily wear it.

On me, this smells like orange soda and face powder. It dries down to a slightly sweet, very powdery skin scent and then disappears completely. Not a bad scent, but my skin just eats it up so I can’t find a reason to keep it.

This is the smell of Holiday to me, Hawaiian Tropic tan oil and cocktails in the blistering sun seated on a luxury gullet boat.

Something strange happens with me and Ma Dame.
It first smells lovely – but after a while I starts smelling swetty palms or armpitts for that matter –
    repulsive !!
    Such a dissapointment.

It was three years ago, when I smelled Ma Dame for the first time of my life and I immediately fell in love with this fragrance. I expected a strong scent for independent women because of the edgy bottle and I remembered the cool advertising with Agyness Deyn. But it was completely different: Ma Dame
