LUNA?it can be … but not nocturnal. This is what you can see during the day!
To my nose this is all lemon, juniper, tonic roses and a touch of bitter orange and jasmine.
All well rounded but constantly sour.
Goes off in traditional clean moss.
    Diurnal and unisex for sure.
    Meh…

For me, I smell something woodsy (balsam fir?) and citrusy. The perfume is light and lasts about an hour on me. I like it a lot, but it doesn’t have much longevity for me.

On my skin, applied immediately, there is citrus and jasmine.
After 5 mins, less citrus, more jasmine
After 30 min, very fresh and distinct (yet not “girly”) rose and jasmine, which lasted about 5 hours with moderate silage.
Very similar to Much Ado About the Duke, minus the peppery cumin. Im still teetering on which I like more.
    9/10 (p.s. i’m a guy)

This won’t be a repurchase unfortunately. It’s very similar to Diptyque L’eau Dans L’eau which I love…then turns into a weird bitter fresh scent that I can’t explain. I would recommend testing this before purchase to give it time to develop on the skin.

It is interesting that Penhaligon’s decided to call this perfume “Luna” when all I can think of while smelling this is “sunshine” and to be specific the Mediterranean sunshine. To me this is Italy in a bottle. It’s the freshness of the lemon and orange, all the citrus Is warmed by the juniper and balsam fir and the rose is there in the background. It’s a garden in Italy, it’s late afternoon and the warm sun has brought out all the fragrances.
I was first given a sample in January and I liked it straight away but I thought this would work very nicely in summertime. I recently bought a full bottle and it’s perfect for this time of the year. It is not a fresh pick me up citrus, it’s warm, sensual and comforting. Divine in other words.

At first whiff this is juicy, almost-syrupy, delicious citrus. And then rose. And pine needles. For hours. It’s a nice, long-lasting, linear scent, but the fir and juniper I think adds a really intriguing, prickly edge to the typical rose theme. I’m not yet sure whether it suits *me*. I’m a guy, and the rose is quite bright and prominent here. It does conjure up a nice image, though: nighttime, kitschy red roses in a deep, dark forest, soft moonlight filtering down. On the right person, I imagine this mix of dusty petals and spiky, mysterious forest notes could be a stunner.
Also, the juice is not cream-colored like in the picture here: it’s a pale purple, very lunar-like. 🙂

The fresh, slightly tangy opening of Luna reminds me strongly of L’Ombre dans L’Eau by Diptyque EDT, however if you try to input the latter perfume in the section of “This perfume reminds me of” your attempt would be in vain and apparently it is an intentional block since you could try Luna on the page of L’Ombre dans L’Eau – as if it would cause some apocalyptic catastrophe were perfumista allowed to express truly what they smell and think. Hence,
my suspicion is that Fragrantica was forced (my guess) to succum to either (if not both) of the companies’ “kind reminder”.
So my advice on the two due to the largely coincidental similarity (smell both you would know what I am talking about)? L’Ombre dans L’Eau is more sour and long lasting while Luna nevertheless is also very exhilarating. Tough choice but may originality always prevail. 🙂

I like it very much. On me it’s not citrus-y at all. I basically get a light rose scent.
Usually I don’t prefer a prominent rose, but it’s so light and embraced by the fir, that I find the outcome very likeable.
I can smell a touch of jasmine, bitter orange and musk, but the othere notes not at all.
I don’t get lemon, bergamotte or juniper.
    Good longevity.
A discreet rose scent with a unusual approach. I feel standing out without seeking attention.

Tried this today for the first time. Thought from the description that I’d love it, but bizarrely on me it smells cloying and heavy when applied. Nothing citrussy and light about it at all.

    Love at first sniff!
I went to a cute niche perfumery some weeks ago and the saleswoman asked whether she could do something for me –
and my answer was “Surprise me!”.
So she looked at me carefully and said that she thought that Luna would fit perfectly. So she sprayed Luna on my neck and on my wrists. And I was in LOVE! It’s zesty, citrusy and yet – there is something special and magical about it… I imagine crystals and light when smelling it. It’s not playful, not sweet, but cool and clear.
It lasts the whole day, sillage is very good.

I saw this in the shop just the other day, brand-spanking new, I’d never heard of it. I gave the cap a sniff – holy-moly, it ACTUALLY did smell like moonbeams! Cold and blue, sharp and tingly – so I sprayed. Of course, all there was was citrus. Fine, another citrus based perfume on a glutted market. Not fine if you’re allergic to citrus. Not fine if you wanted moonbeams.

It’s a light and citrusy green fragrance, but has some weird smelling very masculine undertone. This undertone developes with hours and is barely there, but I can sense it.
The fragrance is without sweetness completely.
Something is incredibly odd about it, so I don’t like it very well.

At first it smells really like Diptyque l’ombre dans leau. Just the green and grassy note in Diptyque is replaced by citrus note. However its dry down on me is not as good as the Diptyque as the Diptyque one is more complex, sensual and with more unique character. On me, Luna gets more citrusy unlike the diptyque that gets more rosy and black currant-y. It does smell nice but definitely not as exciting, unique, mesmerising and enticing as diptyque. It may suit ppl that cant stand strong grassy smell as top note. In the end, Luna is more sweet and musky while diptyque smells more like ambergris.
I just tried in store on my wrist and not going to purchase it.

An interesting composition then from Penhaligon’s and yet again they don’t disappoint in bringing an interesting approach to a fragrance which could so easily have been boring or not to my taste.
I actually walk my dog of an evening through the city centre and passed the Penhaligon’s shop. To cut a long story short, the parade of shops it’s on is not on street level and kind of enclosed and when they pump the scent out of the front door, it tends to linger a long time and as such I can still smell it strongly hours after the shop itself is closed. This residual smell of Luna had me intrigued as it smelled very masculine and not really in keeping with the notes I had seen.
Now that I’ve sampled it I can confirm that this is the case but not indeed the whole story. Luna is much fresher with zingy top notes, citruses and dry juniper giving way to a metallic musk and rose. There’s even a hint in here of Amouage Lyric man but Luna is much more bitter and that fir gives a masculine edge. This is in direct contrast with what I had perhaps thought that this fragrance would be about the night flowering, white floral jasmine (hence Luna) and lean more toward the feminine but in truth it’s absolutely straight down the middle unisex. I should have known by know that Penhaligon’s nearly always deliver a degree of complexity and sophistication to their compositions despite the obvious drawbacks of the brand ie: price, longevity issues, and the ‘complexity I mentioned being that little bit too subtle for everyone to notice.
The deep drydown is one of the musky, rose and florals just with the citrus and juniper died right back but in fairness this takes a long time, so as a fresh summery scent it works and lasts fairly well. (although I did put on quite a liberal application.) Maybe that ambergris is what is giving Luna an air of the luxurious? Again I’m not sure what it is but I like it.

The zesty opening soon turns into a very clean yet a little spicy fresh shower scent. I get earl grey and a hint of juniper berries turning into subtle creamy red roses. Elegant but not too unique. Would stand out best on a man.
