God, It’s cloying! From the moment you use it, this perfume begin to stalk you and not in a good way. First notes reveal heavy, stinky, oily scent that reminded me blend of wooden coal, old church and field flowers. Than, when perfume become softer only coal and church stayed. May be it’l become to very old grandpa or very brutal guy who like coal smell, but I can’t imagine this on a woman. Why it’s noted as unisex?

This reads like a promotional vehicle for Givaudan’s Black Agar — a precooked replacer for oud that smells great on its own and is used in a ton of perfumes. Here, it’s far too central and magnified, sitting right on the surface of the scent and towering over everything else. There’s a plodding woody-labdanum cradling the oud, some peppery spices, and a patchouli note that comes off more as chocolate. Last, it’s all spun a bit smoky — which may elevate an eyebrow or two — but because the oud is so rubbery, it smells a bit too much like a burning tire, albeit a fragrant one. Pleasant enough, but uninspired; L’Ombre Cachée suffers most from being the “token oud” in what’s largely a prefab “niche” line.

well well… i guess i liked this one from the first test, although it starts with a medicine leather or oud but then it calms down in few minutes to give this dark smokey leathery essence with a tiny little bit of sweetmess. acceptable to me, and i guess ill give it another try.

    *L’antichambre – L’Ombre Cachee
Since the begining a medicinal oud comes strongly with an earthy patchouli. In minutes, the woody accords get stronger with safron note.
A very masculine scent. Myrrh and vetiver do very very well with the other notes.
Woody scent from the begining till the end.
Then, a soft animalic feeling tha came from the oud appears doing very very well with sweet myrrh.
    Sandalwood on drydown.
    Well done.

On my skin, I mostly get leather, dark oud and lacquered wood notes out of this, but it’s such a nice combination of warm wood, deep dark oud and soft well-worn leather that I don’t care if the other notes have gone missing. Not as masculine as it sounds; a unisex scent for those who like their oud but dislike the harsh aspects it can bring.
