If Pleasures by Estée Lauder, Portrait (for women) by Paul Smith, Escada’s Especially & Chloé EDP had a baby….
Just another ‘peppery rose’.
Aside from the Anna Sui eponymous scent, “Dreams” and a couple of the Dolly Girl fragrances, I think the Anna Sui brand/house/range of scents is a bit of a joke.

Initial smell reminds me of being in a hospital, settles down into a dusky rose with miscellaneous florals underneath. It’s an average, safe, perfume anyone can wear at any time, but and it’s a big but, it’s price is incredibly low for what it is.
Because it’s so ageless it would be perfect for a young teenage girl to wear as it’s 10x nicer, and more appropriate in a lot of cases, than the stuff pop stars churn out.

today i moved my choice from like to love. it’s cold and snowy today and this dark dusky rose scent is smelling divine to me today. not as long lasting as i would like so i’m doing the touch up thing, but overall i am enjoying this immensely.

Pepper never show itself on my skin,
rose appears right in the corner of the middle-tune,
which lasts ever and forever,
till the shadow of the aroma has gone.

I really love rose and floral fragrances, so I expected to love this one. It is definitely rose, but it fades so fast on me. After 10 min it is nothing but a hint of rose and musk. Very sad.

Live Your Dream is a dusty rose, quite similar to the original Anna Sui. I feel like I even pick up some of the strong iris of the original (though it isn’t noted). Both have a similar creamy/lipstick vibe.
The main differences lie in the heavy dose of (white) pepper and the presence of water lily.
White pepper isn’t nearly as sharp as black pepper. I think that note, in combination with cedar, is what gives the “dusty” effect to Live Your Dream.
Waterlily is nicely executed here and gives a slight musky-fresh floral vibe. Live Your Dream is floral, but not flowery, if you catch my drift.
In the drydown, the rose becomes more jammy and the tonka bean more prominent.
All in all, I really like this scent. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys the original Anna Sui. I’d even recommend it to test for those who normally dislike rose scents as it’s not your typical rose.

It opens up with pepper and rose. Pepper overpowers rose for about an hour. Then it begins to disappear slowly and rose becomes more noticeable.
It sure is a floral fragrance but I didn’t get much others except rose. I can definitely tell it’s quite rosy but not overwhelmingly. I think, its woodsy notes create such a nice balance because the dry down is more likely fresh. It reminds me clean linens and also kind of makes you feel clean. Very slightly musky but you can only feel that after 2-3 hours. Besides that, I can’t tell I picked tonka bean. It’s not sweet at all.
However to be honest… not my cup of tea. I’m not a floral type person and don’t think, I would consider using it but if you enjoy fresh and floral scents, I would recommend it.

This was a blind buy for me and a great deal. I got this for $10 at marshalls and when I smelled it, it blew me away. I fell in love at first sniff!!! It took me back to my childhood and made me happy. On me it smells like roses, a little blend of flowers and and a little sweet that I think it’s from the Tonka beans. I don’t get pepper at all.
sambyko – :
this is a whole lot of peppery rose!
valets – :
Smells exactly like Fancy Night by Jessica Simpson. I just bought it in a bigger bottle, thought that i liked it since i liked the little perfume test. But it smells more sweet and fruity in the sample than it did in the bigger bottle.
hooolywarsoft – :
This was a blind buy for me, but Im actually satisfied with my purchase. Is actually quite nice. Fresh, floral and clean. It reminded me of Tommy Girl, but this once is less sharp. To me the rose and the pepper are the notes that stand out the most.
roberdesam – :
Such a pretty scent….very feminine and girly. It has floral, spicy & musky notes; a very pretty melody. The longevity is pretty decent and the bottle is just lovely. LIKE
exelaywem – :
I personally hate it! Anna Sui’s scents are famous for their sophisticated sweet but fancy fragrances and this one disappointed! It was too strong for me!
PaulJY – :
a soft spicy (from the pepper which i love) rose and jasmine scent. slightly smokey too. it’s a definite skin scent on me, but i really like it. just a nice subdued fragrance that stays with you for over 3 hrs. i’ll be wearing this a lot during fall.
sereban – :
I like this, but the white pepper is a bit much.
Adalgisaop9 – :
I bought this blindly and sprayed some on a few minutes ago. It is a very pretty, refreshing, romantic scent, suitable for spring and summer; a nice mix of rose and jasmine (and peony?) with a little bit of fruit-like sweetness, but not enough for it to be called a “fruity floral”. I was hoping for a lot of pepper but I get none… nonetheless, it’s a keeper. It’s nothing earth-shattering, but it’s really pretty, both the fragrance and the bottle!
Edit: After a few wearings, my enthusiasm has dampened a bit… the floral notes do have quite a synthetic vibe to them. I guess I’ve been spoiled from smelling so many really nice perfumes lately. Not sure whether to keep it or not…
sambic – :
I love Live Your Dreams like I love the original Anna Sui. It’s perfect for spring and summer. It’s like a lighter, cleaner, fresher, fruity version of the original. It definitely smells “pink.” It’s strange that I smell fruit so strongly when there is no mention of fruit in the notes…but I smell something that vaguely resembles melon. This fragrance is quite sweet, but not like candy. My skin did not pick up any hint of pepper, which I was grateful for, as I don’t like pepper but took a risk buying this because I love Anna Sui products.
olesya81.09 – :
I had such high hopes for this but I am gonna return this tomorrow, big disappointment, there is alot of pepper and just overall….nothing really special, its actually kinda gross 🙁 I can’t wait to get this off me.
miskammax007 – :
TOTAL SURPRISE!! I expected to loath this but am really liking its punchy scent. It doesn’t say it anywhere but I occasionally get a strong whiff of gardenia.
Sillage and longevity are excellent and for me the dry down is warm and musky.
So girly!
Некит007 – :
I don’t like strong jasmine scent,I got headache whenever i wear it.

I surprisingly like this fragrance despite the fact that Anna Sui doesn’t always rock my boat. Live Your Dream is a pleasant rose fragrance with a peppery twist.
My favourite peppery-rose fragrance is Perles de Lalique, and although this fragrance shares similiar accords, Live Your Dream is a touch sweeter and less earthy. The floral notes feel quite soapy and feminine on my skin, but I am very grateful to the cedar and pepper that gives this fragrance more dynamic.
I’ve worn this fragrance out on a few occasions, and have received many compliments. Live Your Dream really is quite a romantic and pretty scent. Like Michellehii mentioned, it’s not an irritating fragrance at all, it’s enough to make you smile, feeling refreshed.
At times I swear I can smell subtle hints of peony and lemon. In those regards, Live Your Dream smells a little bit like Gucci’s Envy Me, just not as fruity and harsh. I am enjoying wearing this fragrance, however it’s not something that I’m likely to re-purchase.
I think it could be worn all year around to be honest, it doesn’t scream out any particular season. The longevity is good, perhaps a little average, but lasting nonetheless. All in all, it’s one of Anna Sui’s more wearable offerings.

This is indeed a much better perfume from the Sui’s. I can spot some nice and fresh, sweet(but not too sticky sweet) and a little bit playful, dreamy(in floral sense, not in the Lancome Hypnose way, thanks!)and femine notes from the EDT. Plus, the bottle is so beautiful, just like Anna Sui from 1999, but with a much younger and happier spirit inside–pink juice!
It lasts quite okey for me, around 4-5 hours(it’s winter now in Melbourne), and it’s just EDT. Yeah, I agree with michellehii, it’s really suitable for autumn. maybe also early spring and not-that-cold winter.
However, I’m a little bit disappointed as the perfume doesn’t really give me the “wow, that’s it!” moment. It’s young, nice, girly and GENERIC. I can’t tell exactly what perfume Live Your Dream is mimicing, but somehow it just reminds you a bunch of flower + sweetness of the twenties. About the name, Live Your Dream, you would expect something higher, and maybe can give you some comfortable soothing feelings and maybe some celestrial fantasy. but no, nothing like that in this perfume.
for me, it can’t be a signiture perfume(well, maybe for a girl who receives this as her first perfume may think it’s divine?), so I’ve only got the 30ml EDT. It’s nice to have, especially the bottle.

This is the 3rd day I try on this perfume.
The 1st spritz, I can immediately pick up intense floral notes, especially rose! Then, I pick up sweet smelling notes. I’m not sure what is it, but I reckon its tonka beans. Very sweet, but not irritating. Unlike other sweet smelling perfume, the sweetness it gave is just nice, making you feel very feminine the whole day. I will recommend this perfume to be used on autumn. It’s a romantic perfume, it lasts, and the notes are intense. However, I don’t really pick up pepper 🙂
