I feel like this must be an iso-e based incense that smells fantastic but I go osmotic to it quickly, whereas coming back to a shirt or jacket I wore when wearing Liquidnight, it had this great incense coming off it. Actually had a guy walk past me and mentioned that somehing smelled like church incense, so it projects more than it might seem. Very much enjoy it and have been wearing it everyday for over a week. The citrus helps it to be bright during the day, and I notice the incense more later on at the end, althought always present. I would even say that it seems more made for daytime use than the nightlife atmosphere it hints at with a name like ‘Liquidnight’.
Worth the price, actually layers great with other frags as well, and the overall incense theme is well done and doesn’t feel cheap or brash. I would say it is neutral enough that both sexes would have no problem wearing this. if you are worried about such things.
    A solid 8/10 from me

A pungent and mysterious, the initial notes make their way towards a really beautiful vanilla and hinoki wood together, quite foggy and nocturnal. A particular parfum that I will certainly buy, evocative and also a little nostalgic, ideal for some evening, a walk in the city etc… I feel the incense in a clear way as if it were always present, the vanilla is well calibrated and not very sweet thanks the wood, sage and lavender that soften the vanilla sweetness. Also this scent surprised me, i like it very much!!!

I never thought I’d like a perfume with lavender and sage in it this much… But I do. I like this masculine, somewhat mysterious, intriguing and quite addictive perfume. I love breathing its aroma of citrusy, vanillic, herbal smokiness. Νοt necessarily on me, since I tend to prefer scents with a more feminine vibe, but definitely on a man close to me. Liquidnight is alluring and fascinating. It’s simple yet poetic. It’s a work of art. Full bottle worthy, it gets 9/10 from me.

    This is my heaven.
After an insane blind buy, weeks en route shipping (I’m deployed), and me obsessively smelling my wrists all morning I’m embarrassed to say I finally figured out why I’m in love with Liquidnight. It’s Memo Irish Oud’s little brother. I love MIO but for $750 a bottle I cannot justify owning it.
Liquidnight is satin sheets in a cabin after a cool rain. It’s the slight smoke from the small fire in the fireplace. It’s the afterglow with salty skin that still smells of vanilla from the shower. Clean vanilla.
Own this. Make it yours. It does turn heads.

    wow…
at the start, you can get all the citrus, the incense and the vanilla, and whilst it has that lingering ‘coniferous’ element, it isn’t until about 45 minutes does the hinoki really come on.
I’ve blathered heaps and heaps on these reviews about scent and memory, and i truly believe that both are inextricably linked and a vital element of perfumery. hinoki, for me, is deeply connected to onsen bathing, which i’ve done heaps of, and it automatically provided a relaxing, meditative state like feeling for me. that ‘ahhh…’ feeling, that’s hinoki. seriously, as ubiquitous and ‘standard’ hinoki may be with onsens (the outdoor spas are made of hinoki most of the times, and with the heated water you get a wonderful scent when you bathe), outside of japan, the scent of hinoki is rare, and when you DO get to smell it, boy, it takes you back…
having said that, there is something aromachem in this scent, i have NO idea what it is. but it’s there. it’s not bad, but it’s not good. it’s not needed, either. but anyway…
the lime, hinoki, vanilla and incense strike an AMAZING chord, and i totally see myself hunting more of this scent down…

Now this is what I call a wooden dream. Slight spice vanille base. It has a Tom Ford Oud wood vibe going on as well. That’s the first fragrance that came to mind, of course it has the vanilla spice vetiver base as well, it’s a fragrance of its own. The citrus top makes this a great warm weather choice though I would say it’s a signature scent all day
    9/10
    Great and worth checking out

This is a true unisex perfume- guys or girls could wear this and it could suit them.
The opening is a smoky, woody citrus. Usually lime is a note that my skin likes to overplay, but it was very well-blended here. There’s a hint of buttery sweetness from the vanilla as well, but for the first hour or so it’s predominantly what I would call woody citrus, with a wonderfully blended incense note that makes it unique. The subtle sweetness of the vanilla and the incense notes bring it from a straight up generic men’s woody citrus to something deeper, more interesting, and more suited to anyone who might want to wear it. The dry down definitely brings about more of the vanilla, and it’s a very soft lime/vanilla skin scent with wafts of hinoki wood here and there. Overall a really interesting take on a woody citrus scent, and something that I’d love to try again. If you’re a lover of citrus and woods but want something a little different, this could certainly be worthy of a full bottle for you. Regardless, it’s worth trying if you can!

Unisex that’s slightly more masculine but neither gender would be awkward wearing it.
The vanilla is stronger in the opening but it’s tempered a bit with something else in the fragrance that takes it very quickly from a sharp, sweet vanilla, to a much more subtle mix. While vanilla stays the main player, it more equally shares the stage with the other players at it progresses.
On the drydown, I smell more of the hinoki wood and a bit of musk but little incense. I don’t pick up the sage or lavender that’s supposedly in the mix.
Bottom line: Subtle woody vanilla with a slight bit of musk.

Love this stuff. Mix l’air du desert marocain with comme des garcon 2 man, and you’d have this. It’s a dry – semi sweet scent. The minimalistic approach by A Lab on Fire is right up my alley. Love the smell, love the design – awesome.

Okay, I’ll make this short : starts out very sweet, opens with a slightly spicy “chewing gum” (?) note and within the first half hour turns more woody and a little smoky, but still sweet-ish. I also get hints of Vanilla in the mix. Very high quality stuff I think. It’s a definite like, but I couldn’t see myself wearing this regularly.

Fresh and woody. I get tons of lavender mixed superbly with the hinoki wood. It’s got a zesty feel to it with light incense and a touch of vanilla for sweetness. It’s not a silage monster but longevity is excellent. I don’t get a Gucci vibe as Gucci is woodier and best for colder temps and is very masculine. Liquidnight is more of a light woody scent that can be worn by both sexes all year round. It’s a masterpiece IMO!

Actually this one I’m quite happy I didn’t buy as it smells great on paper but on my skin just a simple lavender, incense smell with heavy ISO E super…
    Not good!

This opens with a bang strong, zing of lime and lavender, with a slightly smokey incense accord reminiscent of CdG Zagorsk (smells nothing like it BTW) but has that fresh pine/fir thing from the hinoki and a church sort of a vibe.
Peppery wood and with something of the carming meditative zen about it.
The dry down is laid back and woody.
I’m an incense lover(whatever that means?) and this instantly delivers a hit so don’t be perturbed by this luke warm appraisal because I’m going to wear it properly a couple more times and update my feelings.
    Initial thoughts are positive.
    Next wear….
This is my second wear and I’m in love with Liquidnight it somehow does evoke the night to me.
It’s not a quiet peaceful night in the countryside but a sexy night out in a bustling metropolis, complete with a slight smokiness of exhaust fumes.
Don’t let that description mislead, this is a smooth, aromatic beauty which for a split second evokes the leather and magic of Clive Christians C or TF Tuscan leather.
It must be the hinoki wood which makes this fragrance such a winner. I recently got to smell hinoki in its pure form and it’s gorgeous!
Starts out a little resinous and heavy but with such a light touch all the same, then into the drydown comes a greener more woody quality and still odd hints of lime from the long forgotten top notes.
Liquidnight is a magnificent fragrance, complex, elegant, masculine I love it and I’m really tempted to get a bottle because I’d wear it a lot!
Latest….I bought a bottle and I absolutely adore it a great fragrance this one!!!

Ah! This one is a gem. Can’t say I expected to like this, but I ordered a sample just because the name sounded rather cool to me 🙂
I am a fan of woody frags with vanilla in them, and this is one of the best I’ve tried so far, reminds me of Musc Ravageur, but this is more mysterious, perhaps because of the incense. It does not project as much as MR though, which is perfect for me because I mostly prefer my scents close to me.
longevity is really good, I still get whiffs on my clothes even after a day. I have never been to NY city, but if that was the inspiration for this, then I must say it just got bumped up to the top of my list of places to visit!!!

I was looking forward to sniffing Liquidnight by A Lab on Fire; according to the note list, the composition centers around incense, woods, and vanilla, so I was expecting to instantly like Liquidnight. Unfortunately, I applied high quality car freshener to my skin. The incense note lacked depth and smoky heft while the woods and musk coalesced to form a sterile base.
    2.5/5

Yes, this is *definitely* suitable for a woman – and a man. Perfumes don’t discriminate no matter who they’re marketed towards.
With that out of the way ( :p ) – this is BEAUTIFUL! Lime, Lavender, Incense and Sage. Yes, the other notes are there and they do evolve as time goes on (for instance the musk becomes more prominent once it’s been on the skin for an hour or more) – but those four notes I mentioned are there from start to finish, and it’s a long ride 🙂 This seems to last a good 8 hours or so on my skin.
‘Fresh Spicy’ is a perfect way to describe this absolutely gorgeous scent. It’s Spring here at the moment and this is Heavenly – I can also see this easily working in Winter. The incense brings a sweet (but NOT a girly sweet, more a Balsamic sharp sweetness) note to this perfume…and it tends to come and go on me throughout the day. Projection is fabulous (especially when a breeze rolls in) – Lonegevity as I’ve said is great…I think I’m falling hard for Liquidnight!
I MUST have a full bottle of this. Thank you to the lovely Fragrantica member who sent me a sample.

I find this fragrance to be spicy, mysterious, sexy, and not at all feminine. I really wasn’t expecting it to be girly at all, but I was hoping that it would unisex enough for a woman to wear. It is not suitable for a woman, in my opinion. However, I do very much enjoy this scent. Although tobacco isn’t mentioned as a note, this fragrance reminds me of smelling my father’s cedar humidor filled with fine cigars. I do detect a bit of the lavender and bergamot, but to me, the smokey, cedar notes stand out much more. I will be passing this on to my husband.

I am all for supporting a niche company (the world of perfumery needs some originality and a unique approach) but frankly with “A lab on fire” I just don’t get it.
kind words don’t come easy to me for one more reason. Their perfumes are done by top perfumers who are free to create out of trends and fashions and in reality all we get (and this reflects on “Liquidnight” as well) are smells that feel like copycats, highly unoriginal and disappointing.
Also the mini press releases that come with these scents on the firm’s website, feel misplaced and over the top (once you have experienced their perfumes that is).
“Liquidnight” smells like a sweet, woody, amber incence pretty much in the way this old Gucci pour homme (can’t remember which one of the line and if it’s still on production) smells (but not as pleasant), certainly not like a big modern city at night.
Nothing more to say, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was created in a weekend as is a common practice for the perfumers nowadays, to get the formula of a perfume they like from analysis and then play around by adding or subtracting a few chemicals.

Liquid Night could easily be a popular high-end designer fragrance intended for the fall and winter. It has a modern feel and an immediately appealing quality to it along the lines of La Nuit de L’Homme, Allure, or Spicebomb. It definitely seems like an evening fragrance that could be worn in either casual or romantic situations with equal success.
It opens sweet and spicy with a touch of lime. I’ve noticed that Saffron can often create a ‘bubblegum’ effect (for example, in Spicebomb), and this is exactly what I get beneath the peppery top. So the opening is spicy (peppery to my nose, though pepper is not listed as a note), and sweet with a marked bubblegum flavor.
As Liquid Night settles in after about 10 or 15 minutes, 4 distinct notes emerge: Hinoki Wood, Incense, Vanilla, and Musk. Hinoki Wood lends a crisp, almost lemony cedar quality to the fragrance which tempers the sweetness well and blends smoothly with the spicy top. It prevents the fragrance from becoming overly sweet and is a welcome addition. The incense is middle-of-the-road (not too ashy, not too smoky) and combined with the vanilla it really helps round out the fragrance. I like the fact that the parfumeur chose a medium to light bodied incense here as it maintains a certain levity, or upbeat quality that could have been ruined by a heavier choice. After all, this seems like a fragrance designed for a social night out–not a night of dark, contemplative brooding!
Beneath everything, the musk gives Liquid Night that final, romantic edge, melding the fragrance with your skin and pushing it just a bit to the mysterious side.
This is not a demanding fragrance, but it’s appealing and is actually pretty interesting. There’s excellent play between the notes and the inclusion of Hinoki wood makes it unique. In addition, it has a smooth radiance, characterized by a warm transparency which never feels heavy or cloying.
If you’re looking for a spicy, woody, vanilla-based fragrance to wear in the evening when you go out, that’s easy to pull off but still unique, you should definitely consider taking a look at Liquid Night.

Hinoki. Where in the world has this wonderfully fragrant wood been hiding for so long? Add some incense sticks, a lime wedge and powdery vanilla. And what you have is the opening to Liquidnight. I’m hooked. Liquidnight reels me into the drydown with hints of citrus and clean white musk. Unique and charming, I highly recommend you try this, especially if you enjoy semi-sweet, complex woody scents.

    *Lab on Fire – Liquidnight
The opening begins with a green mossy lemon accord, very unusual and intense. Very interesting!
In a few minutes, something powdery and slightly sweet appears – here is the vanilla note saying “Welcome, Welcome”.
Then, the scent shuts itself on incense and labdanum, little bit smoky. The labdanum here only appears so quickly giving us a leathery accord – smellin’ like luxury shoes.
Once time goes, the green incense tames down and the powdery vanilla appears again and stays till the dry, with the musc part.
    🙂

Since there are so few reviews, I thought to throw in my two “scents.” As a gourmand lover by trade, I had to really flirt with this one before I bought the bottle on impulse. It’s truly far off the beaten vanilla path…or is it really? The hinoki wood is the dominant note, weaving in and out over my 13 hour day. This fragrance is wonderfully complex in its development and dry down as the woody, sharp, icy notes soften gradually into a tree-sap amber/vanilla. The lime opens strongly, then sinks into the smoky hinoki wood. I’m not sure about projection, but I smell this one all day and night. It’s a fragrance I still hate to love as it keeps pulling me back in.

I am the proud owner of What We Do In Paris is Secret so I was keen to try the latest offering from Lab On Fire, a house I am growing to love.
This leans heavily to the masculine side on me, but I have to say, it is a very complex and interesting fragrance. Testing from a small sample is always hard. I would like to spray more of this to test longevity and sillage but I suspect they aren’t great.
The lime is prominent first up but soon yields to a sweet smoky cedar type scent that is out of this world. I’m yet to find a perfume featuring hinoki that I did not like. It gives this composition a sweetness that smoothes the sharpness of the bergamot and lavender and saves it from sitting fully in the masculine range.
Having said that, I will encourage my husband to try this one. It would be devastating on him!

Call me crazy, but….this smells heavily of hash. I definitely smell the lime, lavender, and incense but it’s mostly background for me. Front and center is hash.

This was much sweeter than I expected for a name like Liquid Night. To me, the lime and floral notes lead the way throughout. I don’t detect any incense or vanilla here. There is a hint of similarities to Dior Aqua Fahreneit to me. While this is a unisex fragrance I would say it leans a bit more to the feminine side.

After wearing this a day, the incense and hinoki linger on into the next day. I love scents that are classified as masculine, the dry down on this one, the base is a little too masculine. Today I am layering it with Tam Dao to soften. I saw that Carlos Benaim also did Armani Code, which I loved on a friend, but on me the white flowers assaulted my senses. Gardenia’s, Jasmine’s and Ylang Ylang all make my head hurt. I still like it alot, I am hoping the tam dao will soften the incense and bring it around into harmony with me.

I ordered What We Do In Paris and was sent a sample of Liquid Night. The liquid night actually suits me more. I like woody scents and the hinoki is very pleasant, like cedar but not so sharp – on me cedar seems to convert to cat pee. The incense is a smoky pleasing backbeat with a sweetness behind it. I was afraid the lavender would be too strong, but it is well blended. I will have to report back as the scent develops as this is all my first impression.
