Nice, inoffensive, non-sultry gardenia that has a nice fresh soapy clean laundry sort of vibe to it from the citrus.

This starts out crisp and fresh. The lime keeps the gardenia out of “pretty pretty princess” territory, which I appreciate. The pepper isn’t as pronounced as I was hoping for.
After a while it does venture into soapy/laundry territory, but this is to be expected with gardenia fragrances and anything that whispers lily of the valley around me.
One of the best gardenia scents I’ve smelled.

What a great perfume! Such a beautiful accord. It is at once refreshing, intriguing and rich. The top note of lime and gardenia is simply delicious. One of the few perfumes I actually get compliments on and I wear a lot of perfume! Try it for yourself you definitely won’t be disappointed. Thank you Jeffrey! By the way, although Long Lost Perfume is a separate thing for Jeffrey Dame it seems, anyone who loves vintage fragrances needs to check out his offerings. My Sin is absolutely gorgeous, but the quality on all of them is phenomenal.

archivist, I make beautiful perfumes for one and all to enjoy, and there is indeed a DAME DNA to my creations, an approach, perspective and character to each scent. If my perfumes are not for you, no problem, there are literally thousands of perfumes in the world to explore. I am indeed a perfume maker and not a technical perfumer or chemist, nor have I ever presented myself as a “nose”. I’ve found in my 35 years of experience in the beauty business and perfume world that for a perfume to truly come to life and excite the soul it takes both a perfume maker with a vision and a perfumer to bring the vision to life, the two together create magic. The fun part, for me at least, is that the perfumers I work with for my DAME creations are from around the world – and most of them are friends that I have had in the perfume business for decades. When we create perfumes together we share a language of understanding and friendship. I know what I want in my DAME Perfumes, and so do my perfumers; and there you have DAME. You may wonder why I don’t mention or reference my perfumers, and the reason is although DAME is Modern American Perfumery I myself am “old-style” – I came of age in perfumery in the 1980’s and 1990’s – when a perfume house made perfumes and the perfumer’s names were not bandied about like an extra treat. The perfumers were an important part of the creative process, but just that – an important part of the creative process. It’s only been the last 10-15 years that perfume names are the focus of the “e-perfumes” world. It’s not particularly complicated, I make beautiful perfumes for my DAME customers to love. No more, no less. It makes me happy. It makes my DAME customers happy. 🙂

I have a sample of it from someone on Fragrantica. The gardenia is very pronounced and original paired with the lime. I would call this combo “sour gardenia”. It is original and lasts a good 8 hours if not more (I reapplied out of habit). I like it but not love it. It is mostly gardenia on me and I already have the Estee Lauder Tuberose Gardenia and Van Cleef’s Gardenia Petale so no fb purchase in my future.

Although I usually avoid feminine white florals, Lime Gardenia Benzoin is a big exception to the rule. It must be a behind-the-scenes benzoin, which makes everything better. Although I can’t actually *smell* the benzoin in the composition, it’s a structural I-beam supporting this frag. Gardenia-Citrus-Honeysuckle are in the limelight.
LGB evokes a very specific emotion for me — it’s of Anticipation of pure joy. A lazy Sunday morning where you have something really fun planned for the day. It’s the scent of ‘having something to look forward to’ in the near future. Almost a ‘This is the Day’ kind of culmination – whether it’s an excitement for a product launch you’ve worked hard for, your wedding, or start of a new adventure.
There’s a mental spreadsheet prioritizing ‘which fragrance to next buy’, and in which order. LGB just blew past the others to the top of this list. A must -have for summer!!

I adore white flowers, especially gardenia. I get mostly gradenia and lime from this, and the way Jeff blended the two is simply masterful. Truly, I do believe that Jeff is pretty much second to nobody in the art of blending notes. I LOVE Dame Perfumery scents.

Okay, I am generally not a fan or gardenia fragrances (or tuberose for that matter) but I really like this one. Jeffrey included several samples, including this one, with my order of several men’s fragrances since I am a dude after all.
Although I would never wear gardenia or scents that make heavy use of white floral, I can handle this one on a gal pal. It’s primarily a gardenia scent with a touch of citrus, a smattering of citrus and some very light spices along and a balsamic vibe. I classify this as being a very pretty and calming scent.
Performance is excellent; lasts a solid 8-hours and projects moderate to above average. Go light on the trigger since the gardenia and floral accords are quite loud during the first hour or so. Overall, a very nice Spring/Summer floral scent for les femmes, and a gardenia scent that I actually enjoy being around and not merely tolerate. Well-done!
Update: I purchased a bottle for my girlfriend…she loves it and I love it on her.

I love the scent of the gardenia flower, but have never been able to find a gardenia fragrance I could wear. I was very pleasantly surprised to find two generous samples from Dame Perfumery Scottsdale in today’s mail. One of them was Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin. I sprayed it on my wrist somewhat cautiously, and a second later I was smelling the most gorgeous gardenia ever! This is an unpicked and just opening flower still wet with early morning rainfall – incredibly fresh. I love it already! The longevity is great, I can still smell that one spray 7 hours later. Sillage is (nicely) moderate. I will be ordering a FB to place next to my exquisite Mandarin, Neroli & Cedar – my top favorite of the 20+ Neroli/Orange Blossom perfumes I own. Thanks for the introduction to this wonderful fragrance Jeffrey, and thanks too for the sample of Mandarin, Neroli & Cedar that came with it – I’m almost out of my 1st sample and my FB would be difficult to carry with me!

This is my perfect gardenia, fresh and wet and glorious. No trace of syrupy stifling vanilla or coconut, the tartness of the lime brings out the sparkling beauty of my favorite flower, gives the impression of a real gardenia growing in a garden, petals dewy rather than candied flower petals preserved for years.
Hooray for Dame Perfumery.

I have this weird relationship with gardenia where I love it, but I’m also a little scared of it. I love powerhouses, but sometimes they intimidate me too. LG&B does open with more zing than the other Dame Perfumery fragrances I’ve tried, but it dries down to a more muted but still perfectly noticeable gardenia that makes me feel fresh and clean. Very nice high-quality sunscreen smell, not as much of a bombshell in an evening gown, but more like a young lady in a sundress. I don’t detect too much of the other listed notes, but maybe the lime is contributing to the clean effect. In some ways I’m a little relieved not to get too much benzoin; when I’ve smelled the gardenia-benzoin combo in other fragrances, such as Madonna’s Truth or Dare, I wasn’t thrilled by its syrupiness. This is an awesome, approachable gardenia, and probably my favorite of the Dame Perfumery scents I’ve sampled. Sillage is moderate to soft, lasting power is quite good, especially on cloth.

This is a lovely, fresh gardenia, perfect for the spring and summer. It reminds me of the fresh gardenias we used to harvest at my mom’s house.
