Description

Yves Rocher celebrates spring with a new collection presented in April 2012. The collection of fragrances and accompanying perfumed body care products is named Un Matin au Jardin and encompasses three EDTs, body lotions and body milks. The fragrances of the collection are inspired by spring gardens blooming with various flowers—roses, citrus blossom or irresistible lilac. Spring gardens of the house of Yves Rocher are: Agrumes en Fleurs, Lilas Mauve and Rose Fraiche.

Yves Rocher Lilas Mauve (Purple Lilac) is dedicated to magnificent lilac flowers decorating spring gardens with purple, fragrant flowers. The fragrance was created by perfumer of the house of Firmenich—Annick Menardo. The fragrance is available in purple flacons, as 20 and 100 ml EDT, accompanied with body lotion and shower gel, 200 ml each.

I love the smell of lilac shrubs that bloom in May where I live. This fragrance allows me to enjoy that smell during the rest of the year too.
It’s not a strong scent and it doesn’t last long (about 4 hours on my skin), but if you are serching for natural-smelling lilac perfume, this is the one.

After a long time of not having this, it came in the mail yesterday and I *love* it! I absolutely love it so much! Much has been already said about the beauty of the scent of a blooming lilac tree and how it blooms for such a short time only. I enjoyed two of those trees so much this year, that I was reminded of this beautiful scent, but how I had forgotten about it, because it’s such a calm, quiet perfume, yet it is powerful in it’s own way. In a way it’s a scent that is modest, yet at the same time has some sexiness to it.
When you spray it on, all those green notes appear, it is so fresh, yet shortly after there is this magical, wonderful heart of a blooming lilac tree… and there is something else! It has this sort of aquatic note, as if you smell fresh water. It’s like the lilac tree is blooming next to a river, so beautiful!
To me this is a masterpiece. And I am so glad, that a nose such as Annick Mennardo who has composed classics such as Hypnotic Poison, Bvlgari Black and Lolita Lempicka, has also done this little gem, a more quiet, gentle, lighter scent for Yves Rocher. I really hope they leave this one on the market, because it is truly wonderful.
On me it does last a few hours with a very soft and so enjoyable sillage.

I bought this hoping it would be extremely similiar to Pur Desir de Lilas, which is a very nostalgic scent to me.
I was disappointed with how Lilas Mauve acted on my skin, it felt quite chemical instead of floral.
I used it on my bed sheets for a while but could never get used to it and ended up giving it to my mother who’s favourite flower is lilac.

Smells beautiful, clean and fresh. The only problem that it lasts about 10 minutes tops on me.

Authentic lilac scent, light, fresh and alluring. Later it gets thicker, but if you like resins, it should not be a problem.

Absolutely one of the best true lilac scents out there–I love it for that. However the longevity and sillage are so weak that it breaks my heart.

Funny story…..my daughter went out tonight with one of her friends and her mother got a package in the mail while she was there and this fragrance was within the package and I guess the girls mother is allergic to perfume and my girl piped right up to say how much I looooooooove perfumes lol so its now in my possession lol I have to start this review by exposing my serious love for lilacs. The house I grew up in had three huge lilac trees in the front yard. The smell of freshly picked lilacs is hands down the most beautiful smell you could ever nasally stumble upon. Every year when they come out….which is less than two weeks a year….my husband will drive around finding homes with the owners outside so he can ask for some lilacs. Now to the perfume….i love lilacs. God I love it. And while this fragrance smells so so so good, it reminds me of a fabric refreshing spray/linen spray/room spray. With that being said….its not a good “perfume” I don’t want ME to smell like a lilac tree-I want my home to!!!

I bought this today because it was on sale and it’s my favourite flower of all time, but the sillage and longetivity…. Horrible. Smells good though.
Will use this as a body splash or have it in my purse.

This is a nostalgic scent for me, it reminds me of being a kid playing in the yard with the smell of lilacs wafting all around me, ahh.. it’s very green, crisp and fresh. Not much more to say about it – it does exactly what it should, it’s pleasant, and is the perfect springtime scent.

  10. :

Not a bad floral fragrance, but not TRULY reminiscent of lilac bushes (I know, I have one right in my yard). Also very fleeting and light – more like a body spray?

  11. :

Soft and pure blooming bouquet of lilacs all the way. Too bad the longevity and silage are so poor.

It’s like childhood in a bottle. My grandparents used to have so many lilacs growing in their yard. It was magical when they blossomed in June. The scent was so wonderful.
Lilas Mauve smells pretty much like that. It’s fresh, innocent, natural and just plain lovely. It’s inoffensive and easy to wear. Perfect for summer. It has this old fashioned vibe, which I truly like.
(I think it’s a single note juice, thus the listing is faulty. No resins here, what so ever.)

It’s simple, fresh and good .synthetic ?no -for my point of view its summer day, white kitchen, sweet flowers of pink lilac heavily standing at big vase . Comfort scent.
No longevity at all,but body lotion and shower gel from same line very good .

Anyone who has lilacs in their garden knows that the previous lilac perfume by Yves Rocher resembled much much better the lilac blossom. Pitty it was discontinued. This is a pale replacement, but still, better than nothing.

  15. :

I don’t hate it or love it. I like it. A good, simple, quite light fragrance. Reminds me of spring days on the countryside. The main note is clearly the lilac. It has personality but not a very loud one. I’d recommend this for an old soul; your mother or grandmother. Not very fresh or exciting but it does have enough strength and depth at the core to be of good quality. Mediocre lasting.

Straight out of the bottle this really does smell of lilacs. Nothing more, nothing less. Five miutes later though, it´s totally gone. Or 10 at the most. Not even a hint on my wrist.

Nice fragrance. But I still miss Pur Desir de Lilas because this scent doesn’t keep longer than cca. 45 minutes. Not even on my clothes.

OK, I am a fan of Yves Rocher fragrances and a big lilac lover, but this is absolutely chemical. I don’t smell any resins at all, only sharpness. Meh.

  19. :

    5 out of 5

This does have that fresh lilac scent but as other reviewers have said its very light and has little longevity, much like the actual flower. I have the body lotion too, and wearing both gives better staying power. If you enjoy lilacs, this is a good one even if you’re the only one who can smell it!

  20. :

Wow, so beautiful life like lilac scent! I’ve not smelt any perfume like it before, so fresh, natural and beautiful lilacs. Perfect. Unfortunately it lasts less than an hour (possibly even less than 30min). It is really a very skin-close scent. I wouldn’t at all have minded sniffing my lilacy wrist every so often… But I feel about this as I feel about the time of blooming lilacs: Gone way too fast.

  21. :

    3 out of 5

I love 99% of everything I’ve ever owned by Yves Rocher. Unfortunately, this one falls into the 1% I didn’t. It smells like… nothing. Way too weak! I love gentle, light fragrances, but this one is just POOR! Lasting power is pathetic and sillage is nonexistant.
I have some shower gels that smell stronger on my skin.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

This is a one-note eau de toilette. Absolutely one-dimensional, no depth, no complexity. The bottle says “purple lilacs”, that’s what you get. Nothing more, nothing less. I have received a huge bottle of this and, while I find it quite soothing if I’m not in the mood to wear real perfume, especially during spring or summer days, I will probably use it as a home/wardrobe fragrance.

I’ve allready written a review for this lovable powdery lilac perfume, but I wanted to add something.
This smells awesome (!) layered with Mitsouko EdT (I know, it’s blasphemy, but it really works). It enhances Mitsouko’s warmer side. There is of course a lilac note in Mitsouko, but I think it’s also the powderiness in Lilas Mauve that makes this combination work.

Try it at store.. so lovely pure & soft floral scent. So i bought it. Give another try at home. All i can smell is Toothpaste scent 🙁

  25. :

    3 out of 5

I’ve tried all the floral scents from this line and this is by far the most long lasting. That being said it’s still very light! I’m must be one of the few that really enjoys the green notes on top, I wish they would stick around longer. The rest of the fragrance is very clean and soft. It smells like pretty lilac with a touch of soap (the resin note? maybe?). It’s very clean and comforting. I have noticed myself gravitating to this one on days when I feel unwell, or just want something comforting and clean.

  26. :

A tart tangy green opening, sour citrus more than leaves and stems. This lasted a good twenty minutes, and was not pleasant, although not unpleasant, just sour and astringent. Just when I was thinking i really didn’t want this to go on another minute, the green cloud went poof! (it didn’t dissipate so much as it disappeared) and i found myself smack in the middle of a garden filled with blooming lilacs. Quite realistic and natural lilac.
this is a soft, gentle fragrance that wears close and lasts about four hours on me. I will retry this in warmer weather, when I suspect it will bloom more fully on my skin.
    A beautiful powdery drydown.

  27. :

It’s rather a poor replacement for Pur Desir de Lilas, but it’s good that they at least introduced one. It does not stay on my skin long and the sillage is not impressive either, but the scent as such is beautiful indeed. I wish it was ten times more intense!

  28. :

so gentle…so lovely scent, I’d like to fill the bath with Lilas Mauve and lie in there for hours. It calms me.

I have had this perfume for over 2 years now and I only use it in the summer. It’s a summer scent. When you first spray it, you can only smell pure lilas. I didn’t like it very much because it seemed like that was all. But in the dry down, it started smelling great! I kept smelling my wrist, but unfortunately, it’s really really soft and poor. You can only smell this perfume when you’re nose is like 1cm away from the skin where it’s sprayed on.. So if you want to impress someone by walking them by with this perfume, choose another perfume, this is not the one you’re looking for. You can barely smell it. It’s completely gone after 2 hours. But like I said, I use it in the summer, during my exams when I just want to be natural and I don’t really care about my looks and I don’t put any make up on. This perfume really suits at such times.
So my conclusion : Summer perfume, very very soft, and a very natural perfume you wear when you are going for a walk in the summer or something. It also feels very..happy and light..

Previous lilac fragrance Pur Desir de Lilas by Yves Rocher was much better like natural lilac scent. This one is a disappointment after it. Not natural and long-lasing enough.

Yes, i have Lilas in my garden. And yes this perfume smells like lilas. And yes its great. What a nice scent this perfume has. It is simple and gives y really a nice feeling if y were walking in the garden filled with lilas. It last long enough to enjoy its scent.

This scent is so reallystic, really good and cheap as well.

  33. :

I bought it this summer, and I’m glad I did! When you don’t really want a heavy perfume that gives you and the people around you headaches, and you like the smell when you’re walking into a garden full of flowers, this is the smell for you.
Yes, it is kind of a “light” perfume, but it just makes you feel good. It’s perfect for in the summer!

  34. :

It reminds me of my childhood, which is nice. But I don’t like it as a perfume. Also, it doesn’t last too long.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Very nice, natural smell of lilacs, but so short lasting on my skin. It sits close to the skin, too.

Second review, though not technically one: I’ve discovered this layers very well with Yves Rocher Cedre Bleue (with an optional smidge of The Body SHop’s Moringa body butter). I don’t know what to call the resulting nebula of fragrance, but I know for sure that it smells heavenly, and lovely to wear to bed. Drifting to sleep on a gentle pastel cloud.

Yves Rocher LILAS MAUVE, from the collection Un Matin au Jardin, reminds me a lot of the Demeter LILAC cologne–not the all-natural one (which I have never tried), but the regular line-up lilac. That one is very, very strong and can easily induce a headache if overapplied.
LILAS MAUVE is similar in that it really is a soliflore, but there is a difference: instead of the super-strong soap vibe of the Demeter composition, this new creation from Yves Rocher smells to me a bit like paint or glue around the edges. Upon application, I rather like that scent, and it makes me think that I could have become a glue sniffer. As LILAS MAUVE develops a bit, however, I find that the faint paint fume effect gives way to something less appealing to my nose. At this point, I start to feel that if I spray any more on, I may seriously develop a headache.
Needless to say, this is all a bit of a disappointment coming from a company which prides itself on its all-natural ingredients. Perhaps lilac must be constructed, like lily of the valley? I’m not sure, but for those looking for a better soliflore, I recommend Ineke AFTER MY OWN HEART, which does smell very natural to me. I even like it more than Frédéric Malle EN PASSANT.
In fairness, I must observe that this Yves Rocher eau de toilette costs a fraction of the price of either the Ineke or the Malle. To me the quality here is on a par with the Demeter soliflore colognes–which makes sense, given the price.

I tried this hoping to find a replacement for Pur Desir de Lilas but it doesn’t measure up. This is lilac light, very watery and green. But more importantly this has no staying power whatsoever or projection, may as well be a mist. Disappointing.

  39. :

    3 out of 5

Lilacs as lilacs are supposed to smell! Very clean, very fresh, very delicate! Pure lilacs in a bottle! The lastingpower is quite poor, but this edt in combination with the showergel and bodylotion is perfect to maintain your ”just hopped out of the shower” feeling a little longer!

  40. :

    3 out of 5

Lilac and green notes are prominent, I wish it should be more powdery and milky because the green note is too much. It’s nice, fresh and soft, kind of skinscent anyway.

  41. :

Very very nice. First when put on a little shocking, was searching for the fragrance of lilac. But the longer it stays the nicer it becomes, the flower fragrance comes out. Very gentle and sweet.

I always had a bottle of Pur desir de Lilas, since I love the scent so much. I ran out of Pur desir and went to buy this one, I thought it was the same thing in a different bottle…but it’s not. It doesn’t last as long and it lacks that almody smell.
I want Pur desir de Lilas back! 🙁

  43. :

Just received a scented towelette sample of Lilas Mauve with my YR order.
This smells exactly like YR’s Pur Desir de Lilas (which they are probably in the process of discontinuing if they haven’t already.)
Lilac. Nothing but lilac. Slightly synthetic-y lilac at that; I get a certain “bathroom freshener” vibe from this. It’s also sweet, a little too sweet for my liking. Lilac is the quintessential spring flower and this scent is unfortunately missing that seasonal light freshness.
It would be nice if you -really- love lilac and don’t mind smelling like a whole bush of it. (And hey, if you love the stuff that much it’s quite cheap. Just please don’t douse yourself in it…)
    Final verdict: simple, inoffensive, forgettable.

I just tried the scented towelette of this. Previously, I have tried Pacifica French Lilac, and I say that I like this Yves Rocher Lilac better. It is not as sweet and girly as Pacifica Lilac, but it is greener and fresher overall. It smells cleaner and lighter for every use. It’s very natural smelling too. Another lovely Lilac perfume for such fans.

I own both this edt and Bvlgari’s Omnia Amethyst. I don’t get the similarity between them as some one mentioned.
I really wanted to like this edt but sadly I don’t like it on me at all.
I never thought I would say this about a scent but on me it smells like a toilet-freshener. Granted a more expensive freshener but still, a freshener.
I also own the body lotion which did nothing for me, it smelled very faint, soft flowery (nicer than the edt) for a little while before it completely evaporated. Guess this one just doesn’t agree with me.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

At first I thought that Lilas Mauve is exactly like Pur Desir de Lilas, so I decided to compare them. And of course they’re not the same. Pur Desir de Lilas has an almond note which makes it a bit sweeter while Lilas Mauve is a pure lilac scent. I’m am a little disappointed in Lilas Mauve actually because it doesn’t last at all and works probably better as a room refreshener than a perfume. Out of these two I definitely prefer Pur Desir de Lilas, although my most favorite lilac-scent is Purplelight by Salvador Dali.
But if you want to try this i’d recommend the shower gel or body lotion. It just doesn’t work as a perfume to me.

  48. :

Me encanta!

My second lilac from YR (after my first love, Pur Desir de Lilas). At first I was a bit dissappointed, because this scent is a bit more shy to my nose than the first one, but after the second testing I absolutely fell in love with it. It’s more powdery with a bit musky drydown (I don’t detect any resins here), very lovely, clean (not in a detergent way) and feminine. Yes, it’s very similar to Bvlgari’s Omnia Amethyst, and lasts more long than that one, especially when you layer with the body milk. Ideal choice for spring or summer for the soliflore lovers. Another plus: gives no headache. The bottle is simply but pretty, too.

This is probably my only non-fruity perfume. I bought a handy 20 ml edt and a body lotion.
Such a soft, powdery lilac scent!
It is my comfort scent, reminds me of my childhood summers. There is something very sentimental about the smell of lilac. The smell of early June.. after a long and cold winter.
I was very happy to find this, with very reasonable price, too.

  51. :

    5 out of 5

I was really surprised I liked this one a LOT. It probably reminds me of my childhood home where there used to be a lilac bush. This scent just screams summer!
It’s a very nice lilac, very realistic, as mentioned before. But it isn’t anything more then lilac. Just straight, linear lilac. It has some green notes to give it an even intenser spring/summer feel, but that’s it.
But it’s such a happy fragrance. Girly, irresponsable, just summer in a bottle. I normally don’t like soliflores, but I might make an exeption for this little beauty.

  52. :

The lovely “EK” sent me a sample of this, and I like this one much better than the old lilac scent from Yves Rocher. This one is way more powdery, and not as sharp.
It smells almost like it`s a lotion, and not a “perfume-y” perfume. Very smooth.
Very realistic lilac, at a good price! Oh, and this bottle is much prettier than the old one.

  53. :

Too bad it’s so weak ! I wouldn’t have liked an “in your face , toilet refresher ” lilac smell either , but this one is really too weak .

I have this fragrance … it is gorgeous — soft and delicate, young and feminine, very natural-smelling to my nose (yet a welcome echo of old-fashioned scented soap), and with a gentle green note. Puts you in the very presence of a lilac bush in bloom. Does not seem to last long on my skin (30 minutes), but staying power on fabric is at least four days: I spray my sweaters and hair to make the scent last longer. (It probably remains on skin too, but I can’t smell it after a while) This appears to have replaced Yves Rocher’s Pur Desir de Lilas, so now my desire to own a YR lilac scent has been satisfied.
