It’s always difficult to find a Summer fragrance that I like, that works with my skin chemistry and is day and general public friendly. I’m happy to read that other reviewers think it’s similar to more pricey fragrances I’d considered. It was nice to travel with a fragrance I wasn’t too worried about losing or breaking. I’ve finally accepted that fragrances that lean towards some sweetness or “warmth”.
I can’t wear the really fresh/sporty/green or sharp florals others can get away with in Summer. I didn’t know what notes was in it until I read the description here and I’m glad to see that four notes that seem to work together really well on my skin, are in it – jasmine, musk, tonka, and vanilla. The sweetness is refined, light, and slightly powdery on me in a very “clean” way.
I didn’t detect any alcohol when I first spritzed. In Fussen, Germany there were testers. I like that the silage is soft, because sweet fragrances put a lot of over 20 and under 70s off. But in my experience, people who usually detest any sweetness in fragrances, surprisingly like it on me. I could still detect the vanilla note 6 hours later.

I like it! It is a very nice, elegant and simple vanilla scent. It is very subtle and nice, but not so gourmand as I expected from the name, however it is amazing for its price 🙂 It smells very playdoh-like on my skin! It is better if you spray a large quantity of it (and that wouldn’t be bad, it is very affordable), because the sillage is pretty soft, anyway very nice one!

I got mine in Barcelona’s Maremagnum Mall for a song- 1.99 euros I think. It was on special with a few other Essence perfumes. There were no testers so I just looked at the packaging’s illustrations and the name. I love sweet scents, so the candy shop connotation was a no brainer for me- I bought this immediately. It is 10mls.
It really does have a strong alcohol opening. I can barely smell this one, so it is indeed soft. I think it would be better suited for a young girl just trying out perfume for the first time- you cannot go overboard with this one.
I don’t regret my purchase because I was curious about the essence perfumes. It was a cheap thrill to buy it and open later in the hotel room. I would not purchase it again though.

It to me smells like Viva La Juicy or Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia after I have showered. That warm vanilla/soap smell that lingers after you bathe. I know that might sound like a bad thing, but it really isn’t. Soft but vanillaic. I think it definitely lasts longer than people are commenting on below, but it is certainly a skin scent. For $10.00 USD though it is quite pretty and a good deal.

The opening is so alcoholic that it hurts the nose. Definitely nothing like a day in a candy shop.

I don’t like sugary scent so much but i like this one because of lilacs. It’s very floral scent. Like a day in a flower shop.

I am way beyond the target market for this line, which I assume is very young girls, but I really love this anyway. It doesn’t smell like candy to me. This is a mild powdery sweet vanilla with some subtle floral notes and musk. A soft skin scent, it smells innocent and simple, but sadly doesn’t project very far or last very long. For $10 I wouldn’t expect much, but this actually ended up on my love shelf. This is the only Essence scent I like so far, but I like it a lot.

Vulgar. This is the smell of junior high hallways after gym class, when children douse themselves in cheap perfume. Similar cheap vanilla scents were on the market when I was an adolescent as well, and I was certainly drawn to them too, but anyone over the age of twelve should put this one back on the shelf. This is currently being marketed as a “limited edition” scent in Canada (where essence has only recently been introduced) so it will be interesting to see how long the North American market plays along. Not long, I hope.

Tried this at my local pharmacy and the alcohol on spraying is so strong and sharp and lasting it hurt my nose. Granted, it is winter here so maybe my nose is more tender than usual but it felt like my mucous membranes were being cauterized by this scent. I could barely smell any scent after the several minutes it took for the alcohol to dissipate but I don’t know if this is due to the strength of the perfume or the assault on my sinuses. I would not recommend to anyone with a ‘sensitive’ nose.
EDIT: I tried another perfume by the same company, and it did not have the same alcohol opening as Candy Shop.

I don’t know about you but this is so watered down to me…I’ve been literally showered myself with this but really can’t get it. I find it less strong than a body spray…
Opening is disturbing because it’s really alcoholic. You have to wait 4-5 minutes in order to get the fragrance. Then it lasts only like 1 hour before completely fading away. So disappointed!
As long as it stands…the perfume is nice, but so light that you can’t distinguish anything. I would say It’s the typical smell of your skin right after a nice bubble bath with a nice commercial bath cream.
I only see children wearing it but to me, it’s not even worth 3 euros…

Personal, the first sniff was not love. It reminded me a bit of an older woman I know, but slowly, the scent changed and it become more subtle and pleasing and the different nounces started to play.
It kinda reminds me a tiny bit of neonatura from Yves Rocher, it has the same warmth behind it, thanks to the vanilla, just sweeter and less earthy.
It does have a bit of cotton candy behind it and in general it is very pleasing for me.
Only downside is, that it really doesn’t last very long on me. I think between 3-4 hours tops, which is kinda sad. Still, I love this scent right now very much and wear it also right now (which means a lot from me because Bee-Season XD)

For the price (I got a 10 ml for like 3 bucks), this is really quite awesome in quality! Unfortunately, the reason I bought this scent is also the reason I never wear it: it reminds me of someone I know. I’m not sure what perfume she wore that this reminds me of, but I am pretty sure it was a lot more expensive than this one.
The scent itself is sweet, powdery, and marshmallow-vanilla-y. I’m quite sure there will be a lot of people who will find this scent very pleasant.
The base in this (the powdery vanilla) reminds me of Yves Rocher’s Vanille Noir; I haven’t tried them side-by-side, but I used to dabble in perfumery and I’m quite sure this base is made up out of one or two main ingredients that are very overpowering.
All in all, I’d recommend anyone to give it a try 🙂

I agree it’s a great value for the price! It’s a little bit similar to Prada Candy, but while the Prada’s fragrance is artificial and too faint for my tastes, this one is more natural, sweet but somehow also clean and refined (maybe due to the floral orchid-jasmin notes)! If you like fragrances there are sweet and powdery, but in a more grown-up, not too gourmand and sickly way, you must try it: for that price, you can’t go wrong 🙂

Finally bought it for a price of a cheap lipstick, at first I was afraid of the poor quality but after 5 minutes the acetone-like solvent smell is gone and it is a very pleasant, well balanced sweet perfume. Not that extremely sugary like the gourmand scents, just a nice, lightly spiced vanilla fragrance. Sillage is quite weak but I don’t mind buying it. Will not buy again I guess, but nice for a few weeks.

when smelt it, it was like a fresher younger version of prada candy.

I don´t know if its´the heliotrope, or the tonka bean, but this reminds me of Guerlain’s ´l’heure bleu!! quite a surprise! though this is not my kind of scent, I think it has good quality, and a very good price. On my skin longevity is incredible! I have tested it 24h ago, had a bath in the morning, and I can still smell it. I´didn´t buy it, but I think I´ll go back to the store…
    edit: yes, I bought it!!

It smells like vanilla, very sweet & refreshing peppermint and liquorice for me. Kinda warm and caramel-ly as well. A very loveable scent! <3

I really like it, I bought it today 🙂
On me it is very sweet, I can get a lot of vanilla from it, but also a white chocolate, marshmellows and a candy flavor.
I can smell also a heliotrope.
When I first sprayed it on me, I thought that the smell will faint quickly, but after a couple of minutes it developed into a really comforting fragrance, and I think it is good for this cold winter months.
    It is also very cheap..
Because of heliotrope it remind me a little bit of Laura Marcier – Vanilla.
Try it if you like sweet vanilla and candy perfume!

too bad it’s too faint, I tested it at the store and I like it very much, but I wouldn’t buy it ’cause my skin normally makes the scents disappear fast.
it opens slightly boozey, like a chocolate liqueur, then it develops into a sweet but not cloying floral vanilla and dries down to delicious heliotrope and tonka bean.
too bad the opening and the heart notes develop in about 30min and all there is left after that it’s a very faint drydown, that you can only smell if you put your nose on the skin. with some improved sillage, it would have been perfect.

Quite nice! Really similar to marshmallows 🙂 Sweet but not a sticky, syrupy way, but a little bit powdery and sophisticated, that’s why it is not just another sweet-gourmand fragrance, but suitable for anyone, who likes comforting, soft smells .Not overdone, just like the natural smell of chocolate, vanilla and marshmallow.

Great value for the price! The scent reminds me of a candyshop (duh) but also has a hint of sunscreen, but not in a nasty way. More in a relaxing way.
It lasts about 2 hours on my skin.

@CulyWurly: It does not remind me so much of Trussardi but more of Prada Candy at first sniff as Trussardi Inside is heavier and warmer in my nose. However, I think the drydown of Like a day in a Candy Shop is a bit sweeter (in the sense of fruity) than Candy but indeed it is THE perfect dupe for both for all that look for something to carry in a bag or for the younger ones that do not have enough money for either Trussardi or Prada. And the 10 ml bottle is even cheaper with approx. 3 €…
Thumbs up for a really affordable and good scent!

This is such a comforting scent to me, I really love it!
It´s sweet and powdery, but not candy-sweet to me. The musk and tonka bean really come through, mixed with the orchid it gives a warm, relaxing scent.
    The price is unbeatable! 50ml = 6,95€ / 10ml = 2,95€
The smaller size is perfect for the purse, a little spritz on the go 🙂
Out of all the Essence fragrances this lasts the longest.
I love wearing it for bedtime, because it is so comforting and relaxing. Like a soft flower blanket 🙂

Very very similar to Trussardi Inside and Prada Candy. These both fragrances are sisters and this one is another part of the family. Try it and you will find the similarity and with EUR 6,95 unbeatable cheap.
