Description
“At the same time bright, sensual, then suddently dark, L’Etoile Noire is truly a paradoxical fragrance, translating the light and dark sides that each of us each carries in our soul–our yin and yang. The top notes of Italian bergamot and lemon are intense, yet also very fleeting. They quickly give way to carnal and spicy floral notes. At the heart are blue ginger, elemi resin, rose, and petitgrain. The base consists of the dark shadows found in oud, gaiac, tobacco, and sandalwood, turning to the light with vanilla, violet, and white musk. This composition is the perfect alchemy, being at the same time mysterious and also totally mesmerizing.” (From the brand’s press release.)
L’Etoile Noire was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Amelie Bourgeois.

I thought this had oud in it during my sniffing. That is definitely there and needs to be listed as a note. Fresh and light due to aquatics, citrus mixed with oud, amber, patch and cedar. Huge in the top but quickly becomes a soft scent like Jul et Mad’s Amour de Palazzo does.

When i first sniffed this fragrance I never thought that it contain tobacco! It is more of a woody citrus and kind of oud as well! It begins dark with huge doses of wood and oud then calms down a bit and goes to patchouli rose and spices.
It’s quite different from the line and quite interesting.

L’Etoile Noire is my favorite from Olibere line. It is the fragrance, which embraces the darkness and the light, which takes you to a mysterious surreal dream, where beauty shines among the shadows, and the reflections of stars kiss the deep black waters. This fragrance a mystical journey. A journey home…
It is a smoky, dark, quite heavy fragrance, which has something light in it. It does open differently on men and women. On me it is a powdery-smoky female fragrance with the prominent notes of tobacco, patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla and rose. On my man it is a smoky-spicy-citrusy fragrance with a very little sweetness. Give it a try!
