This is an incredibly beautiful fragrance that evokes a very feminine, vintage vibe. There is a soft, powderiness that I attribute to the generous dose of heliotrope and it persists throughout the duration.
    Lovely and special, a gem.

This fragrance is going to be vintage since a new version of L’Interdit is about to be launched in September 2018, like Givenchy did for Gentleman and Dior for Miss Dior.
Maybe they will keep this version and call it L’Interdit EDT Originale.

I was in a perfumerie recently and it came down to a choice of two elegant florals – Pierre Balmain’s Ivoire and this version of L’Interdit. My umming and aaaahhhing and sighing and sniffing took so long that just as I was about to pick L’Interdit, I lost my chance. A gentleman came in and asked for it as a present for his wife for their anniversary that day. As it turned out, the shop was down to it’s last bottle, so I wished the man and his wife a Happy Anmiversary and took home Ivoire.
My saintliness has been rewarded finally with my own L’Interdit, and she was well worth the wait. I know that this formulation probably smells nothing like the original, but I think Audrey Hepburn would thoroughly approve.
BTW, as some of you have mentioned I can also smell strawberries, Iris and a very very soft Vetiver. Bargain! I’m getting more notes than I paid for. And those notes are actually in Ivoire!
Finally, what a rare and wonderful experience it is these days to be able to spend time in a real perfumerie with patient, experienced staff, trialling fragrances heard of, but never smelled. I am as guilty as anyone of Internet shopping (and good and bad blind buying). From now on though, I’m downsizing, saving up to spend my hard earned on quality fragrances, and rewarding those wonderful qualified fragrance salespeople for their time and expertise.

This is a reformulated fragrance AND it’s beautiful. Purchased from Fragrancenet, I bought the tester, and I am assuming it’s the current formulation…can’t tell what the box looks like because the tester box is plain white.
Back in the ‘70s, I used to buy the parfum which came in a little red velvet box…it was a dab on, the bottle was a little squat and it had a round gold cap. I loved it and hadn’t experienced this beauty in decades. A very elegant older lady at work wore this as her signature fragrance, and at 19 I wanted to smell just like her.
I had been eyeing off this version on line for some time. It’s not available in Australia from what I can see, so I had to decide whether to risk it…not just to pay the AUD$90 but the shipping as well.
Anyway, I got it and if you’re debating this purchase, I hope my review helps you.
First spritz I recognised L’Interdit of old…enchanting! If someone had blindfolded me and sprayed me with this, I would have been able to identify it..you know how sometimes if you know what you’re spraying, your expectations may get your judgement a little carried away?
Then it seems to do a little back flip and become something else for a while, I can definitely agree with the comparisons to No. 5 Eau Premiere, but it keeps wafting back and forth, teasing your senses with that magical smooth floral aldehyde kick…it’s divine.
It’s going to be tough to wear anything else for a while as I have fallen for this one…it’s taken me back to the ‘70s, in a good way! If you’re not a child or fan of the ‘70’s, but you admire and appreciate a classic floral aldehyde that’s smooth, elegant and timeless, I think you will love this one.
Update – sprayed once on my wrist at 8am this morning, still going strong at 8.07 pm tonight.

I love this! I bought a tester bottle on ebay with no cap, and I could tell it probably spritzed in shipping because the box/bubble wrap smells AMAZING!
    I love this!
Soft, but potent! And I think TillyWave says it best. I can’t really pick out the notes, but this is a lovely smooooth, light but potent, aldehyde-woody-floral-powder scent that is like powdery Johnson’s Baby Shampoo (if memory serves, lol). It’s sooo elegant/sophisticated yet sweet and smooth/creamy/waxy. Potent but still airy and not cloying. Oh shit… I love this. So good.
Yes, it’s very much like my Chanel No 5 EDT with a magnetic cap. I think I like this more because it’s got better sillage/potency. I have not smelled any of the No 5 flankers from recent years… I only have Chanel No 5 EDP, EDT, and Parfum.
This is so rich and elegant, yet still playful, and able to be worn casually.
It’s a little powdery and waxy, but in a smooth (creamy), wonderful way. And gets less sweet/more woody as time passes.
It does kinda smell like old Moonlight Path from Bath & Body Works, but I used to work there… and I hated that scent. While it does remind me of MP, don’t worry… MP is waaay more powdery and old lady… haha.
I have no experience with the original, I would love to! But since I only have this– I’m totally happy with it, and love it! Perfectly feminine, light/but potent, casual but elegant. It’s perfect. I will reach for this more often than my No 5 EDT!

I am so disappointed in this one..I thought it would be the original or at least close
to it, but on my skin it is not recognizable. I wish that Givenchy would continue the real scent..There are many people who want it and would buy it..I guess I’ll just keep looking for the real thing where ever it can be found…

I Just received a decant of this one: to my nose, this is a classier and more refined version of Soft musk by Avon! It’s curious that I can clearly smell the note of strawberry, that isn’t in this fragrance, but that was present in the older, original version! Anyway it’s the softest, most realist strawberry that I have ever met in a scent. Soft musk is one of the best fragrances in the world for me… so I really really like this one! Simple, elegant and brilliant 🙂

I have a tester and the notes are much simpler than the classic. Aldehydes, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Pink Pepper,Iris and Tonka Bean. A pared down L’interdit. Aldehydes mix with violet leaf for a soapy bitter opening that brings the florals forth. Its not bad but its relatively thin and doesnt jump to life as the vintage. Its still captures the essence of the first version, just in a ghostly way.

On my skin, this smells like a sibling to BBW Moonlight Path. It’s lovely-soft-feminine and I’m sure I’ll find occasions to wear it; just not what I was expecting. Could just be my chemistry.

    Ethereal Woody/Floral Aldehyde
I really like the original L’Interdit, but I never wore her in her heyday, and I am sure that my vintage juice is starting to turn. Nevertheless, the Mythique L’Interdit is a beautiful homage, while still lightening up the mood of the perfume considerably.
This really, really does smell like Chanel No 5–in the Eau Premiere formulation. The two perfumes could be sisters. In fact when L’Interdit first opened that’s all I could think of–those soft, ylang-ylang infused airy sweet aldehydes are almost identical, and have the same floaty lightness.
As the perfume warms up on the skin the florals, mostly heliotrope and rose, are well blended and dusted with a sweet peach and strawberry powder. Suddenly, though, the perfume darkens (slightly) with an earthy iris and sandalwood accord. I also smell a tiny bit of woody tuberose at this point as well. I would venture that there is no oakmoss in the new L’Interdit (and actually there isn’t–it’s not listed on the box at all) but a nice green vetiver. Because that’s what the perfume dries down to, and orange blossom-peach accord over a bed of light green vetiver and sandalwood, all dusted with a powdery iris.
The lasting power is very good, over 8 hours, but this perfume wears quietly (just like Chanel No 5 EP.) Also, I smell a lot of iris, vetiver, and a hint of strawberry in here, why aren’t those notes listed? L’Interdit would be nothing without an iris note!?!
Anyway this is very well done and worth a try, even if you don’t have any association with the original. This perfume is soft, powdery, floral, fruity, and woody, and has a nice subtle life of its own once on your skin. Beautiful.

As I said earlier in my review of the original L’interdit, this one is an improvement, because it has no harsh opening, it goes straight to its buttery, nutty, soapy heart of white flowers and wood. It belongs with Chanel No5, Caleche and Madam Rochas, but it’s unmistakable, there is no other white flower/aldehyde perfume that smells like it. It is serene and does not seek anybody’s attention in its exquisiteness. It lasts way over 10 hours, sillage moderate to soft, just getting slightly warmer and sweeter in the drydown, cosy like a cotton ball. I wear it when I want to feel calm and poised, and let the day’s bustle roll off my skirt. Needless to say I wear it with a skirt and pretty shoes.

Smelled this again at My BFF’s flat yesterday, and oh my is L’Interdit yummy! Classy, soapy, powdery, green, old timey, white flowers, ladylike, classic. Too close to my Chanel no 5 eau premiere for me to buy it now (my nose smells a rose!), but when I run out, I may just run out and do it.

I have no experience with the vintage version of this fragrance. I can only explain what I am smelling in this version. It has a vintage vibe to it and it reminds me of Chanel #5. It’s pretty, powdery and very lady like. If this has any resemblance to it’s vintage counterpart, I can definitely see why Audrey Hepburn was chosen to advertise it. When I think of beautiful classy women this perfume comes to mind. But I might not be classy enough for it so not sure if it would suit me 🙂

This fragrance has a faint trace of scent similar to Givenchy’s L’Interdit but the new formula not the original vintage which was an aldehydic strawberry rose perfume. This one is an aldehydic peach orange blossom. This smells so beautiful as far as floral frags go. It opens with aldehydes and peach. It starts off very perfumy like a vintage fragrance. The fragrance settles into it’s heart and it’s heavily floral with rose, orange blossom, heliotrope, and tuberose. The tube rose is trying to get all the attention but I would not call this a white floral scent because the red rose and heliotrope are truly the stronger players. For a while it gets powdery but it dries down to musk. I can’t detect the patchouli although there is something green in this it’s just not very strong. Amber at the end is very nice and clean. At times like a perfume version of floral shampoo, or rose powder for your body, and at times just a very feminine girly perfume with a 50’s boudoir scent very similar to the associations I get with the original L’Interdit. It also has some things in common with Chanel No. 5. Loved it.

What a lovely, sophisticated and delicate scent. Much closer to the original than the unfortunate version of l’interdit that came out in 2003, this opens with soft, warm aldehydes. I also get a whiff of spiciness, underlying the powdery floral notes. The development is fairly linear, but eventually the warmth of the woody notes comes forward. Florals are not my usual favourites, but somehow this scent has captured me. (5)

Asphaltblume, thanks so much for confirming, what I already suspected-that a lot of these reformulations for whatever reasons-ARE NOT remaining true to the original recipies. For all those seeking the original version, you’re doing them a favor by letting them know that save for a limited number of vintages, this scent is no more!

After loving the original for years and not finding it any more I turned to this one as a consolation. It is quite near to the original and easy to love. The staying power is very bad. It is a bit more masculine smelling than the original. The powdery drydown seems similar, though I have never had the two at the same time to compare them. This is more woody and musky than the original but it comes a close second. I just wish they had eau de parfum strength. And too bad that even this is only available on ebay at a very expensive price.

I also found it very very similar to No. 5 Eau Premiere, plus couple drops of Cuir Beluga by Guerlain (their sweet antique artificial vanilla, that makes all big Guerlains smell so luxurious) with powdery sweet Chanel aldehydes. The drydown reminded me of Bijan Nude, detergent smelling of white chocolate.
It’s synthetic scent overall, very musky, powdery sweet, fluffy white fabric conditioner. Musk, aldehydes, heliotrope and sandalwood with cedar.
Lasting power is not good on my skin, about the same as Eau Premiere, which is like two hours.

I know the original L’Interdit, it was my mother’s perfume. This new “mythique” version is nothing like the old one, to me it smells like a sweet woodruff sherbet with a little drop of L’Interdit mixed into it.
It’s not exactly badsmelling, but I wouldn’t spend money to smell like that.

I have postponed writing this review because sometimes is so difficult to talk about the things you love and why you cherish them.
I have no idea of how the old version smelt but the new one is lovely.
This is Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina when she came back from Paris in her black suit and red lipstick, being a chic and charming lady with a humble and kind soul, cooking for Humphey Bogart and telling him how to walk in Paris under the rain because it is when the city smells best, waiting in the tennis court to be kissed by his Casanova bother.
Wear it in spring mornings with a white dress and flats and dream of your Prince bringing champagne to the tennis court.

I just posted my review of this scent on the original L’Interdit page (oops!), but I’ll just say here that it is very lovely. The aldehydes have been softened, and the fruit in the top notes sweetens them further. The floral heart is very well blended and classic, and the drydown is rich and elegant.
I find No. 5 too powdery, but this one is just as wonderful as No. 5 Eau Premiere. I’d love to own it.
