Paradoxx – :
Dapper is a green, powdery type of fragrance. I mostly get a dark lush type of violet, a powderiness from the orris root and some floral sweetness from the white tobacco. These 3 notes dominate with the patchouli and sandalwood mainly adding some depth. If you like dark fragrances, this is a good one. Olfactory image would be wet, violet flowers growing beside an ancient tomb, lush decay, a rainy night and sadness. Combinations of violet and patchouli normally have this effect on me and orris root adds to the mournfulness. This is “dapper” in the way Dorian Grey or Count Dracula is dapper. I kinda love this but it’s not a daily use frag, it’s something more suitable for a wet, rainy night.
Strangely enough, One frag it reminds me of is Daim Blond By Serge Lutens. The iris note in that and the orris root here are kinda similar. Daim Blond goes more fruity with the apricot n suede and Dapper goes more floral with the violet n white tobacco. Projection is restrained like most oils but longevity is good. Kedra Hart has some amazing stuff in her Opus Oils line and it’s a shame more people havent tried them. I tested about 4 of them including this one and did not find a single one I didn’t like.
