STRONG lilac which fades to strong jasmine. The pear stayed in the background for me. Eventually the flowers fade, and musk emerges. It was a skin scent after the first half hour, and gone in three.

I love the idea of grassy and dewy notes in fragrances but in reality, they usually result in a cloying mess of too much dew. Leila Lou is the perfect blend of green grass, crisp florals with a touch of dewiness. I first wore this on a rainy summer day and it was a perfect fit.

Sweet, pretty pear fragrance. It’s fairly simple but a nice bright spring/summer scent.

Well apparently today is the day for me to review household cleaning product scented fragrances. Is Leila Lou a perfume smell? No. Not at all. It is fresh, crisp. Clean. Smells like a room freshener or the very bight/crisp green scented bath product my grandma used when I was a child. This is very clean and bright/fresh smelling to me, I don’t pick up any of the musk, nor the vanilla/sweetness, nor any of the white floral.
Very much a clean/green/fresh type of scent to my nose. In some small way I suppose I kind of dig this one..but not enough to purchase a full bottle. Would be nice for hot humid days when certain skins amp up most perfumes in bad ways. I don’t think there is any danger of amping this one up to an offensive scent. Mild/softer sillage and not great on longevity, maybe a couple of hours. Not room filling, more of a skin scent.

The very first time I tried this perfume I was in love! Its one of those perfumes that will leave a lasting impression. The staying power is amazing and the silage is just right. At first the pear scent comes right through but after about 20 mins it fades and the middle notes blossom through. The price is a plus for this perfume and if you are into fresh lively young scents, then this one is for you. Made with mostly natural ingredients also makes this perfume a good choice. Its one of those scents you have to try to believe.

To me Leila Lou smells like spring, like freshly washed clothes drying in the sun in the blossoming pear tree garden. Clean, fresh, flowery. It gives the feeling, that I’m 16 again, happy and free, and life is beautiful <3 It is quite a simple, lovely fragrance with a good staying power.

I purchased samples from BRJ’s website. At first, I put a tiny dot on my wrist, and I loved it.
Then I put a swath across my wrist. This screams lilac and grass up front, in a sharp way. It is not subtle on me. Too sharp! Then pear and florals and an adlehyde? slide in with what seems to be a cheap jasmine but I could be wrong about the floral and green apple. To me, this smells kind of old school 90’s with the base note, whatever that musk is, does not compliment. This one and James are not to my liking. James is all ambergris on me, and not in a good way.
I love Tilly though.

Very feminine, fruity and clean smelling. I think this is good for the office as its inoffensive and pleasing.
Reminds me of Hermes Jardin Sur le Toit, but a touch sweeter and without the rose note.
Good price point too.

This is a beautiful Tuberose & jasmine vehicle, with well-balanced fruit (pear / crisp apple). Discovered this beauty at Anthropolgie last year, and I’m on my second bottle of Leila Lou.
11/6/2016 addition: Victoria’s Secret’s Blush Fragrance Mist is similar to this. Leila Lou has much better projection & longevity, so I’m glad I picked well.
4/10/2018 addition: Tocca’s Florence is a dead ringer as well!

Ivory soap, idealized and sweetened up a bit. Sometimes, it’s the simplicity that moves you and this always feels fresh and clean; a fresh, spring morning full of sparkling sunlight, laying in green grass, late in the day, after a scrub in the shower. Scooping snow on a sunny, Winter’s day and feeling it melt in your mouth.
If you ever wanted a fresh, waxy ivory cake or flakes in bottle form but with a hint of sweet, wet sheerness on top, then “Leila Lou” is for you. You actually have to be careful not to over-apply; it’s mild but tenacious. With a dab, ‘Leila Lou” eventually drys down to a soft, spicy green base.
Great take on the “clean scent”, with a hint of nostalgia for any kids who grew-up outdoors (this freshness is more schoolyard recess in grassy fields than laundry rooms) and great value.

I’ve just started getting into the world of perfume so I’m pretty clueless about ‘notes’ and recognising them.
I do know that I get a lot of the very sweet pear and the jasmine. I love white florals and particularly love gardenias and jasmine so I adore this scent.
This is currently my signature scent because it is fairly inexpensive and long-lasting on me.

Lilac and pear blossom with an extremely bright and clean finish. This screams happy and young to me. I picture a young woman in her late teens and early 20’s wearing this. Unconcerned and joyous, not the least bit pretentious. Just like with Tilly, Leila Lou’s sister fragrance, the sillage is enormous and the wear time is moderate.
gigor – :
I purchased a sample of Leila Lou while looking for a natural fragrance (this is not 100% natural, but close). At first I agreed with other reviews that it was way too strong, but easy to fix…go light! A little goes a long way with this one and the smell is very pretty! I am not into florals, but the fruitiness in this is addicting. It actually took me too days to really love it, b/c I put too much on the first day. I smell the grass, fruit and florals and think that this is an easy wear for anyone. The smell simply makes you happy, even on a dark dreary day!
chrisblatty234 – :
This smells great! To me, it smells like lilacs which I love; it’s really hard to find a lilac-smelling perfume, so to me, this is great. It’s definitely a “young” smell, but I’m 23 and still enjoy it! It’s smells very carefree.
qqqaaazzz – :
Leila Lou is a juicy, vibrant pear/peach/apricot fruit extract sitting in a bathtube of shampoo and bubbles.
The scent is bright, light-hearted and and has persistent longevity. It is the perfect fragrance for teens. The wearer is definitely young, or young at heart.
Cute as it is – Leila is not exactly a refined or unique perfume. Ultimately, it is along the lines of Victoria’s Secret body sprays. She may as well be a distant cousin of FRESH perfumes, e.g. sugar lycee.
