Perfumes are really subjective. It looks the consensus is half bad, half good. Mine leans towards the bad side. This smells cheap and wierdly blended. I get a cloying, pervasive burning plastic smell only. Had to scrub it off. Blind buy deception. Selling it off right away.

i do not feel that i am a talented nose, however i have a gift that i can feel it what and if a juice is good or not.
IMAN (issey miyake ambre noire), for long time now, is the first one to wow me long after guerlain ideal EDP, which was almost a year ago.
Performance is outstanding, projection is eaily 4 or more hours with a superb sillage.
IMAN is one step ahead over one of the most succesful issey miyake, nuit EDP. Has some similarities with it at the base.

The first time I tried Noir Ambre, I thought it smelled amazing–warm and spicy and sweet. I’ve tried it again now and this time I’m noticing that I don’t particularly like how the amber and leather blend. It doesn’t totally ruin Noir Ambre for me, but it’s already similar enough to other amber fragrances to make that weird note kind of a deal-breaker for me in terms of buying a full bottle. Plus it’s hard to find. So overall, not bad but not worth the price and effort of tracking it down.
Arabian Oud Kalemat is basically the same thing but without the leather and I prefer it to Noir Ambre.

A fragrance unusual to Issey Miyake’s otherwise quite boring line. They’ve really done a great job with Noir Ambre!
It starts with a beautiful blend of oriental spices which for me, makes me think i’m traveling through Morocco. Once settled, it invites you to the Amber and vanilla where this perfume really starts to shine and slowly allowing the heavier notes to take care over. Interestingly enough, when we enter 2/3 of its longevity and when the Vanilla and the amber is most prominent, this fragrance starts to remind me of Baccarat rouge 540. It turns into this Caramelised sugar that has made Baccarat so addictive to many fragheads.
If you die for Baccarat Rouge 540 drydown and wants a completely different opening then you should definetely try this one out!

Good release from Issey Miyake. The fragrance is heavy on the saffron note. To me it smells regal – in Jubilation XXV league. The projection is strong. Recommended for cooler nights and in winter. I think this would work great for a formal occasion and for 25+ audience.

Tried this one a couple of times, I really like it.
Cinnamon-y amber with strong vanilla, a well priced (at least in my country!), very nice and easy to wear amber fragrance.
Works very well in winter and autumn, and cool spring nights.
    Wear it with confidence!

Tried this at London and Dubai airport dutyfree. Noir Ambre is a well made fragrance, think and multi layered. To me it appears elusive, with strong bend toward middle eastern vibe. Lasted 5-6hrs on my skin. Exorbitantly priced.

This is a luxurious fragrance that stands in between eastern and western perfumery.
Slightly sweet thick amber scent with a killer saffron vanilla cinnamon combination.
A text book amber scent. Niche level and one of the best options available. 10/10.

I was able to get my hands on a bottle through an exchange with an AMAZING overseas Fragrantica member (looking at you, MjrS).
Wow, this is an incredible fragrance. No citrus? Is this Issey Miyake? Absolutely. Even though this is an amber fragrance first and foremost, there is a lightness lurking in the background that makes this unique and so wearable. There is a facet of this that reminds me of l’eau d’Issey Intense- the papyrus, spices, saffron, amber are all common notes between the two. But where Intense goes in a smokey-citrus direction, Noir Ambre goes deeply sensual and exotic with the leather, heavier amber,
saffron and vanilla/tonka. The absence of bright citrus notes leave the nutmeg and cinnamon unobscured, to a glorious effect. This is not an aggressive, Uber- masculine perfume, and is more subtle than loud, though longevity is good.. Imagine all the listed accords glazed over with a lightly sweet, ambery smoothness. The longer this stays on my skin, the sweeter it becomes- the last thing I detect- next morning, even-are indeed the base notes: a light, beautiful, sweet amber/vanilla/tonka, a hint-a reminder of this amazing perfume. It’s a crime that Issey Miyake doesn’t make this available in the USA.

I think I didn’t get the concept right the first time I wore it the problem was I over sprayed it and it punished me accordingly with some slight headache but didn’t give up on it. Tried it the next day bit reduced the number of spray and viola it was super great and confidence of myself. I love it

It took me quite some time before i finally put a review because this is very different from what i was expecting…
I was expecting an easy to wear warm amber scent, but what i got is a very dark and a mysterious amber that gives a serious vibe. I can’t compare it to niche amber based fragrances because i only have experience with designers.. But this is amber that you can wear at work and for amber lovers i think they need to have this especially if you struggle finding an amber scent for business and important meetings.. This is the one
Edit: And for those comparing it to kalemat.. Yeah i get that too but this is a darker scent and the notes are very well blended

I was very excited to receive this in the post yesterday after reading the notes and reviews. I was unsure if this scent would be released in the UK but its here now at House of Fraser website for £88 per 100ml Parfume.
First day of testing and I’m very impressed so far. This is completely unique from any other scent from this house, it has a classy sweetness but not over sweet, the amber and leather is blended beautifully with spices and creates a very luxurious warming, comforting scent which lasts and lasts without ever being cloying.
    Worth the wait…
    8/10

This fragrance as an amber based work at this price is perfect. I have not found anything better at even one and half times of its price in Iran. The reason that it is found in the Middle East and Africa Could be because of its hot oriental nature.

It’s OK that you’re wrong, it does smell like Habdan, you definitely don’t have a bottle, or maybe you bought a fake, but well done on being able to look up the notes! Please tell me more about the colours

This is an amazing fragrance. It is available in Harrods, London as it it exclusive to the Harrods store. Very powerful scent, a bit dark, cinnamon notes in there too. Definitely a signature fragrance. Received good compliments with this gem! Although very unconventional for Issey Miyake to come up with this dark number..

If you don’t think this smells like Habdan then you haven’t tried Habdan. I’m sorry but this is so close to Habdan that this isn’t just a matter of opinion there is no other way of looking at it other than something being wrong with your nose if you can’t see how similar these 2 are
It’s as if Habdan and Oajan from Parfums De Marley had a baby and Habdan’s genes are more dominant. Lasts for ages, an absolutely beautiful fragrance unlike anything Issey has released in the past.

Smells amazing! An oriental scent done Right, think juice, smells very masculine, and far from the old hype, the best oriental release in 2016 in my opinion.

It smells nothing like Habdan…. no idea how people get that comparison.
To the person who wrote “if you don’t think this smells like habdan you haven’t smelled habdan” I own a full bottle of Habdan, I know exactly how it smells.
If you can smell Suede Leather and sweet candy in Habdan, there is something wrong with his nose…
In Ambre Noir I get a nice soft brown leather / suede, with a rich sweetness.. to me it smells more like a burned sugar, almost cotton candy like, like I imagine the colour pink / red to describe the sweetness.. but maybe it’s the way the saffron combines with the vanilla. I think it smells great, I really liked it.. the amber is noticeable too
I didn’t pick out much Cinnamon though.. Nothing like the original, but it’s very likeable, and easy to wear, cozy, warm, rich.. great winter and autumn scent for the night time.
Habdan is apple, resins, soft spice and caramel..
Oajan is cinnamon and honey with vanilla.
The only way they relate is that they are both ” warm and sweet ” but so are millions of other scents

I really wanted to like this. Great flacon and marketing. Tried it for a day and was wondering what I had put on myself. Something wasn’t right. So I got a decenty sample a wore for three days. Very sorry to say, but this actually smells bad on me. So then I asked ten people to smell and rate the smell, scores averaged between 2-6, which reaffirmed my thoughts.
Early days, I’m sure many positive reviews will flood in. But persoanlly I am very dissapointed at this release.
I look foward to wearing orginal DNAs for spring/summer.

@Chazas: just four people have voted, so I doubt that will have any effect at all on anyone’s judgment or first impression of this fragrance.

Any idea if/when this is released in Europe? Super stoked, the note breakdown and the bottle. Just amazing.

  41. :

    @Endymion
That is what most of the time ruins a fragrance release and its first impressions.
Mostly hate and incorrect, misleading votes, fake community instantly down voting or visa versa on performance, the notes and so on, ruining first impressions by a lot, some do check fragrances online to seek advice/knowledge and after seeing, people are turned off, they won’t even try the fragrance them themselves.
Willing to try, hopefully this won’t be a Tonka based fragrance, as most these days, this could be a great flanker, a new fragrance actually.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

So those who already voted, why don’t you give us a favour and write a review about the fragrance itself?
Because you have already tested the fragrance, that’s why you voted on the notes and performance. RIGHT???!
