Description

New Issey Miyake limited editions for the season of 2014 belong to the “Ode to Nature” project theme. They are named L’Eau d’ Issey Lotus and L’Eau d’ Issey Pour Homme Yuzu, representing new flankers of the original L’Eau d’ Issey from 1993 and L’ Eau d’ Issey Pour Homme from 1994. Lotus and Yuzu accords are associated to Japan, where from the designer originates.

Alberto Morillas created L’Eau d’ Issey Lotus inspired by the morning dew, spring greenery and lotus flower. This delicate and transparent fragrance consists of notes of lotus, aquatic accords, Sambac jasmine, hyacinth, precious woods and white musk.

Available as 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette.

Like sweet, refreshing spring water trickling from a jade mountain, L’Eau d’Issey Lotus is pure serenity.
The water accord is has some soft mineral character without being metallic, adding cool elevation and atmosphere. There is also a delicate anise-like note (green herbal, not sweet woody licorice spice like star anise), and similar to spicy green carnation stems. But you have to be really still to sense it.
The flowers are floaty and soft, but rich and beautiful; lucid and peacefully musky and warmed by a gracefully harmonious wood base.
L’Eau d’Issey Lotus is tranquil, yet fortifying, like breathing in fresh mountain air as the sun filters through dewy sweet fog. This is a big love in my collection which is typically devoid of aquatic fragrances.

This fragrance is stunning and has everything I want in a floral aquatic.
Lotus does share a little of the steely DNA of the original but it’s very much in the background. The metallic juiciness of the original is replaced with a dry muted green aspect which comes from the hyacinth rather than the lotus, methinks. In fact, the hyacinth is so apparent here, it could easily be thought of as the aquatic version of SL’s Bas de Soie (which is the most amped up hyacinth fragrance I’ve come across).
Lotus wears as long and strong as the original L’Eau d’Issey too. It’s a beautiful flanker of a beautiful fragrance and they’re different enough from each other to warrant having both!

I’m tossing up whether to get Lotus or Florale. I really like Florale but I’m unable to test this one before purchase As an aquatics lover in a hot and humid climate this one looks great too. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I have been OBSESSED with this perfume since I bought it blind and first tried it. This is hands down the best aquatic I’ve smelled. It is not masculine at all, as many aquatics can lean. It is pure femininity with the most beautiful lotus blossoms. The lotus here is so real and fresh. I have an Issey Summer 2014 which is nice, but Lotus just blows it out of the water (get it? aquatics? haha). And yes the bottle is as amazing as it looks, for those who enjoy the pretties as I do.

I blind bought this after reading the reviews. I had liked the original in the early ’90s (it was a big hit back then) but never got one (or maybe I was given one as a present, not clear about that). I have always fancied the bottle and needed a greener scent for my collection so got this one. Upon first spritz something familiar is there… maybe faintly reminiscent of the original “parfum d’été”, but I had this a loooong time ago so can’t really put my finger on it.
It is a summer perfume, but in a humid and green way, in a place where there are frequent summer showers; definitely not a mediterranean summer frag. It has some sweetness to balance it, probably from the lotus flower. It has warmth and feels comforting (the musk?) and earthy (the wood and the jasmin?). I will definitely wear this one at work as it is neither generic nor offensive and is natural and balanced. I like it.
Edited to add: Longevity is enormous! From 7am till 3pm I could still get whiffs of the floral accords. Now it’s 5pm and there are musk traces lingering in the crook of my elbow. I was in a warm room for a while around 11am and I still felt fresh and just out of the shower.

Fresher, less floral and much weaker than the original. If you think the original is too much, get this. If not, pass on it.

I adore this perfume, sadly I can’t find this in Georgia anymore, heavenly, green and long lasting, the best for me.

This is a true flanker. It smells very much like the original and keeps the tone of it entirely. The main difference is that there’s no carnation in this one. It’s also greener.
It’s linear, watery, floral, green and slightly tangy. It’s unlikely to win over people who hate L’eau D’Issey, but if you were on the fence about it, this one is softer, with a more natural feel – there’s still calone, but less of it.
Like the original, it’s a sillage monster that lasts for what seems like days. Spray lightly, a little goes a long way.
It’s a lovely, calming scent, very typical Morillas.

I finally FINALLY finally bought myself the full size of this. It is heavenly! If you like the original then you will love this. It smells the same, just a bit more green/light/aquatic…if that makes sense! I had a very hard time finding this for a decent price range so if anyone knows of anywhere you can find it or other fragrances at a good price let me know….even eBay this was over priced

Just like the bottle design:frosty, green, simple, linear, watery, calming and comforting … still noticeable after 12 hrs on my sleep shirt…

L’eau d’issey is my all time fav! The original, summer 13 and summer 14( same smell) are my go to scents! I so badly wanted to try this, it sounded amazing! It’s not a cheap perfume and no where local to me so I found a website that sells perfume samples…you pick the scent and size! It’s such a great way to try a scent without the commitment! I ordered this and I got it today! It’s fabulous! One thing I love about the l’eau d’issey line is that they stay true to their roots! All versions smell like the original but with a twist! No other design house that I have smelled does that! 10/10 across the board for this one! Another thing is that for some reason my three year old niece calls me Issey lol we don’t know why but when she started talking she called me Issey and clearly I don’t mind 🙂 I’m not sure of the rules on this website for posting vendor links so I won’t put the sample website in this review but if you want it msg me and I’ll give it to you!! I’m so impressed with them-and the samples go up to a 5ml atomizer size!! Love love love

Once I realized how difficult this became to find I did buy a bottle and it has been a hit around my house. My husband is very fond of it. 2013 has been pushed to the back of the closet.
I don’t know why these Issey fragrances get discontinued.

Three parts original Issey Miyake, one part ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I can’t justify buying it with half a bottle of Summer 2013 still in my closet but I hope this one isn’t discontinued because I like it better.

Very nice, green. I did’t try in on my skin butI think I would like it. Classy.

WOW!If a fragrance could actually smell alive this would be one that does.Three words to describe this perfume would be Lush,Wet and living.I respect the original issey but am unable to wear it.This version however is just beautiful and paints a picture in my mind.Your walking in a tropical rainforest with the air thick with the smell of verdant green plants.Hot humid air is all around you as sweat begins to pour down your body. In the distance you hear a soft rushing of water so you keep walking. All of a sudden you come to a clearing.A waterfall rushes into a crystal pool with lotus floating serenly on the surface. You can’t resist. You walk to the edge and just dive in.This perfume is so beautiful. Most perfumistas would not call this a sexy scent but I beg to differ.Clean can be sexy. This fragrance smells very natural and almost smells wet and dewey. It is one of the best aquatic fragrances I have smelled in a long time and well worth the price.I wore this on a hot sticky day and I manage to stay fresh and cool. Its more of a green tropical fragrance with a clean warm drydown. This is also somehow a little beachy as well with some ocean notes lurking in the background. This is a perfect summer scent for a natural earthy girl. This scent is seductive in a subtle way.Longevity is awesome and this does smell similar to the original but way better and not as synthetic in my opinion. This is a lush green humid floral fragrance that brings to mind a beautiful Hawaiian rainforest with a crystal pool and a refreshing waterfall.Very smooth and just plain gorgeous!

This creation is a true flanker of its namesake, opening with the same blast of Calvin Klein Escape kaleidoscopic melon-aquatic-floralia. Here there is more greenishness than in the original eau de toilette or the eau de parfum. Not to worry: this is nothing like A Scent.
I see that Alberto Morillas signed this “lotus” flanker in 2014. Is he still designing perfumes? Or do his apprentices and interns now toil away mixing liquids together in the lab until he approves? Either way, this composition undoubtedly satisfied all of the requirements of the brief: that the flanker-fragrance be related to L’Eau d’Issey but in some way unique. Lotus? Calone? Six of one; half a dozen of the other.
This would be a good choice for someone fond of the original but looking for a slight variation on the theme. (Not for me.)

This one is good news. I always wanted one of those cone-shaped bottles, but smelling the original L’Eau d’Issey, although I like it, takes me back like a time-machine to the late 90’s when it seemed everyone was wearing it. So I was sniffing the new flankers hoping for something I will like, which is close enough to the original but not too close. I didn’t like the Florale so much, or the summer 2014 edition, but the Lotus – I’d even dare say it improves upon the original. It is undoubtedly L’eau d’Issey, but in a softer, warmer version. it is moist and alive. It’s like a watercolor painting of a lotus pond that makes you almost feel like you’re there, on a warm quiet day, almost hearing the sound of the water and all the tiny creatures in and around the pond, and smelling the grass and the flowers and the trees.
I definitely see what is meant by the concept of “Ode to Nature”. Whereas most perfumes are about the woman wearing the perfume, what she is like and what she wants others to think she’s like, this is about a pond with lotus flowers in it.
It’s surprisingly long-lasting, and – maybe it’s just my bottle – it comes out as a soft wide-angle spritz, giving a feeling of a refreshing body spray rather than a perfume. An expensive body spray, though. But hey, it’s IM, it’s unique, and if you like it (and I do..), you’ll pay.

This Lotus by Issey Miyake really did capture my interest. I love the bottle, the color, the name and the whole concept. The only thing left is the scent itself.
Lotus opens with a sharp aquatic Issey-ish note which is very unpleasant IMHO, but after a few minutes, the scent changes and reveals a calm n relaxing lotus, like walking next to a lotus lake in an early morning, inhale a cripst n slightly sweet scent of this watery flower.
The longevity is ok regarding this fragrance is a light n fresh kind of scent which I need to re apply through the day. Pretty pricey and perfect for a summer day or just simply spritz it on to relax. Im gonna purchase a bottle soon.

Fans of the original will probably love this. It’s almost identical, expect this one is just a touch greener, though it’s a soft, dewy green, not sharp at all. I won’t be purchasing, however, as it reminds me too much of the original, which I wore to death for almost a decade in the 90’s.

  20. :

    5 out of 5

Well, let me start off by saying I do like this. I do not like the original IM; I find it too sharp.
In answer to White City, it does not resemble Kenzo Parfum d’Ete; it is not as feminine as the original version of Parfum d’Ete (frosted upright leaf bottle) BUT softer and more feminine than the reformulation (clear leaf bottle).
I would compare this to a better-constructed Clean Outdoor Shower Fresh, or Versace Versense, or maybe Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. (Actually, IM Lotus is what I had hoped IM A Scent would smell like!)
It has that distinctive IM signature. It is a very dewy, refreshing, misty lotus, like after a light summer rain. Good for casual, sporty use on a hot day.
I already have another IM summer flanker that I adore, but I would consider buying a bottle of this one when it goes on sale. Hope this helps.

Just beautiful, fresh, natural, aquatic floral ! I love it , long lasting but not over powering. Perfect for me ! A summer fragrance !

Quite watery like the original of the same shaped bottle, and that makes this scent very Issey-ish – if you know what that means, you know it’s lovely!
“Lotus” is somewhat fresher in a soft way, but still no sharp edges. All rounded and soft watery beauty. The wood and the musk is calming and the flowers are really beautiful.
Don’t be fooled by the colour of the bottle, it’s not that “green”, really, no sharp citrus for example . Well, not in this one, Lotus, but Lotus’ masculine partner Yuzu got to have the citrus feature for himself – also really gorgeous! And for that matter the “Mint Sport” is also a nice one if your guy likes stronger scents. The guys got two new scents, but the ladies got one. So start using more perfume, guys! 😉
“Lotus” is both calming and refreshing like sitting in a secluded place. I imagine sitting in a flowerfilled greenhouse, pavillion or something like that, drinking high tea after having relaxed in a spa. The watery part just gives me a bit of steambath feeling followed by a fresh waterfall shower feeling, which is funny and nice. Exclusive feeling, that is… But don’t get me wrong, don’t start thinking eucalyptus when I say steambath. Just watery, moist, lush, that’s what I try to say 🙂
It lasts long, and especially the musk is still lingering until the day after, and I’m talking 24 hours at least.
Musky scents are not the utmost feminine scents, in my personal opinion (you might disagree), but I still think Lotus is an exclusive and also feminine beautiful scent. There is some sweetness to it, so that makes it feminine, and the soft rounded flowers appear in it strongly, but like in a balanced soft cloud. Nice. Pleasant. Of course. This is absolutely no cheap smelling scent. It is not too heavy, not obnoxious, not headache inducing, at all. This is a scent belonging to Issey Miyaki’s collection, which he stayed true to. So how can it be anything but yet another luxurious masterpiece from a master perfume creator? 🙂
I am impressed by the effect of the scent and that it stays so non offensive, yet obviously there. Beautiful and pleasantly noticeable. You do not to need to spray lots on, just a little will work perfectly, so it will last quite long, I expect.

This has already been released in North America and France but has not yet arrived in the UK. I really want to try this out! The notes sound ideal and the bottle is really beautiful!

It`s fresh watery fragrance, but also very flowery. Lotus in it smells little bit same than Lotus note from Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil (what is one of my favorites). For me it`watery Lotus & Jasmine mix. I do not smell hyacinth. I`m not a big fan for watery fragrances, but this is so flowery and unique, I really love it! Bottle is nice light green. It last over six hours for my skin, so it very long lasting for EdT.

One word for this perfume… AMAZING! It is a littlepricey but beautiful. It pretty much smells exactly like florale but no rose in it. It smells like happy, like you’re in the meadow. It definitely brought a spring day to my Canadian winter. I love it, and it’s a limited edition. The price was not to bad, I paid $116 at the Bay in Canada but so worth every penny. I’m in love!!!
