I think I can appreciate a true perfume house when it manages to create something amazng out of a simple, well known and explored, even overused note.
Neroli, for example, can be smelled everywhere and I generally appreciate all neroli centered fragrances, but here, in this unpretentious creation, it gets really stunning after a “normal” seeming departure.
What makes it so special to me? Well, the beeswax note, I’d say, because it’s so deep and comforting (as a child of a beekeper, and a former beekeeper myself, I have very strong associations with beeswax)
The actual orange, which adds some sugary element to make it more palatable.
The cedar and musk, for better structure.
So, what apparently looks like yet another cologne, manages to get wings and fly you away to other landscapes of olfactory possibilities.
The only downside is its life, 1 hour max on my skin (simple solution: reapply).

I tried it at the store and really liked it, so I brought home a sample. Well, this is the most expensive dishwasher soap scent you can buy. If you want to smell like you’ve just had a long day of washing dishes, this is right for you. If you want something interesting, something with a personality and depth, well, this is not it.

Zesty, crisp, lovely – and fleeting. Well worth a try if you love neroli (I do, so much…) as this is a very transparent and honest picture of that gorgeous summery smell. Unisex because it’s more about a feel of freshness and beauty than girly-girliness, but some men may feel it a bit on the feminine side. But yes, it’s a cologne; on me it’s gone after a couple of hours (the same as the Atelier line, btw, and the Diptyque is nicer imho.)
Xpert – :
L’Eau de Neroli is the simplest and most traditional among Diptyque’s Les Hespéridées line, but it’s also the best. Essentially, it’s a superb neroli soliflore with citrus, honey and floral facets atop a gentle musk base. But it’s so much more than that – it’s a charmingly bright blast of pure ecstasy.
L’Eau de Neroli opens very citric, with juicy herbal bergamot among the most prominent notes, along with a dash of lemon. The neroli is the star from the beginning, however, with its bitterness toned down and its honeyed aspects to the fore. It is neither metallic nor soapy; it is sweet, clean and lightly floral. Those aspects are bolstered by honeycomb and orange blossom, which sing almost imperceptibly around the edges of the neroli. The white musk base is subtle and incredibly comforting. Projection is soft, and it lasts a good few hours on skin, or longer on fabric – in other words, it has very respectable performance for what is essentially a fleeting citrus-floral soliflore.
For a greener, soapier take on the flowers of the bitter orange tree, try Diptyque’s Eau Des Sens, composed by the same perfumer, Olivier Pescheux, almost a decade later. Gorgeous orange blossom is bolstered by herbal angelica and a touch of gently spicy bitter orange. Both scents are utterly gorgeous, and unique enough to justify savouring both. Bravo, Monsieur Pescheux.

This a very light, very wearable warm weather fragrance.
It is my go to gym scent (just 2-3 sprays) as it is not overwhelming to people around me. When I want to wear it as my SOTD, I just spray a few extra times.
Not monster longevity or projection, but it smells fresh and bright. Love this one.

Pretty scent transformations! This neroli perfume opens with the flower and the rind. It has a bit of citrus bite which disappears in the drydown. The accord has neroli paired with a slightly powdery base, which is an interesting reverse of the tart open. The neroli gets stronger through the transitions, with it being the last note I smelled as the day wore on. Sillage soft, longevity 4+ hours.

This is SO GORGEOUS. I adore neroli and am completely obsessed by neroli. This is a wonderful interpretation of it. Citrusy and a bit grainy like breakfast cereal. Amazing.
Comparisons to Fruit Loops and Fruity Pebbles are accurate, although a crass understatement and belittling of this fragrance’s true beauty.
Light and safe for office use.

A light, classy neroli with some musk. Well suited to springtime.
Othedexpele – :
Great neroli scent! unfortunately it disappears on me very quickly! Such a disappointment as it is lovely.
idrozduk – :
Despite the luscious citrus and neroli, without 20-30 mins, it dries down to musk and perhaps a bit of vanill. This keeps it warm but fresh and more season-less than other citrus/neroli parfums. I can’t wait to buy this one!
mocart1998 – :
Probably the best neroli I’ve tried.

When I first tried this perfume, I thought it was a bit too masculine and a little disappointed because I wanted to own it due to its pretty bottle. Tried it again today, and it was quite pleasant. I like the sharp bits of it.

This was my first full bottle of Diptyque. This is easily unisex which I love wearing with very feminine clothing. Like others have mentioned, it is a classic cologne. Light, clean and sophisticated. It starts off with a blast of herbal neroli that is never cloying or artificial. I found this to be a more feminine version of Neroli Portofino because it’s Neroli seemed more chic and less skin bracer.
Got a sample of L’Eau de Hesperides with my purchase and definitely see a lot of similarities with L’eau Neroli with the former having more rosemary opposed to the tarragon in the latter.
mikanj – :
This is very reminiscent of Atelier’s Grand Neroli, this however, is much more lemon citrusy. Still both are good but in terms of fragrance, sillage and longevity, Grand Neroli beats this one – hands down.
There’s very little projection and longevity from Diptyque L’eau de Neroli.
I don’t smell fruit loops at all but I do get a bit of lemon pledge. Still, since I’m a lover of Neroli, it’s a nice change up for the other neroli fragrances that I have.
rnlargslk4 – :
straight up froot loops cereal. i can almost taste the sugar coating.
dries down to a industrial scented lemon cleaner with some kind of black licorice undertone. not for me.
dimidroll85 – :
This is one of the most beautiful citrus/neroli scents.
I’ve long been a fan of citrus since I developed my passion for fragrances. Citrus is naturally appealing to me but one major downside of it is that it’s volatile and transient. I wish it could last long. Now, with L’Eau de Neroli, it finally happened.
This frag is enhanced with honey, which sets it apart from other citrus scents and also prolong its life.
Love it!

MY FEMININE SIDE
I’m definitely not a ‘man’s man’. (I don’t use a hammer well, and have never had a fist fight.) But this contemporary citrus & floral made even me a tad self conscious.
Not at all powdery (thankfully). It’s refreshing. And intriguing.
Ladies, sample this, for sure.

This instantly transports me back to Italy when I was young. Very fresh, delightful fragrance. Love it!!

I think L’eau de Neroli is a wonderful Neroli scent.
Very fresh, crispy, a bit sour. I love it.
I would buy a bottle for myself for summer if I had money to spend, sadly it’s quite costly.
The settle down is very nice here and the quality is worth the price – I sprayed a little on my wrist and I could feel it all day long.
I love that it doesn’t change much on skin.
Would be perfect for a summer getaway. 🙂

L’Eau de Neroli by Diptyque is a fairly simplistic fragrance, both citrusy and sweet when applied to the skin. It’s the kind of fragrance that I would reach for on those really hot, almost unbearable Summer days.
I adore the smell of neroli and orange blossoms during Summer, so it makes perfect sense that this fragrance should appeal to me. L’eau de Neroli is light, zesty and fresh. Really lovely when used to lighten your mood or to refresh yourself after a long, tiresome day.
I had some initial fears, particularly in regards to the opening, that the citruses would overwhelm me with their presence, but fortunately they do not. This fragrance is the perfect blend of citrus and florals. It’s also a fantastic unisex fragrance, a great balance of masculine and feminine accords.
It is important to note that L’eau de Neroli only comes in the cologne concentration, meaning that it will be neither too strong nor too lasting. I’m not going to lie, this fragrance is fleeting on the skin, so it’s up to the individual to decide whether or not this niche fragrance is worth the high price tag.
I doubt that I would ever buy a full bottle of L’eau de Neroli, but I would definitely consider buying the 20ml rollerball. It’s easy to carry on the go, and to re-apply throughout the day. They are also the cheaper option.
simgena – :
I’ve tried Hesperides and Neroli and both are quite similar in a way. Hesperides has the spicy caraway next to the skin which makes it more masculine. Neroli is more feminine and flowery. The opening is just beautiful. A sheer burst of citrus and blossom makes it irresistible, it’s olfactory effects on the brain being smiles and mood enhancement. It’s aromatherapy, and like aromatherapy it doesn’t last (about 1 hour on me). Such a shame but it’s one I’d carry in my bag for those low moments in the day when you need a lift. Not like earlier Diptyque, but has their special lightness of touch.
NeenEndeatott – :
This opens with too strong a version of lemon verbena on my skin, which, together with the ‘citruses’ creates the unlikely and altogether astounding effect of rendering this the remarketed version of ‘lemon Duck’ for the toilet. Please note that this is not cologne prejuduce – I am the proud owner and fervent wearer of several other men’s colognes.
The strangest thing happens after 20 minutes-something in it reminds me of JPG Classique. They have the orange blossom note in common ,and that is about it, ‘on paper’.It must be my chemistry…And still, this comes across sweeter, perhaps due to the neroli. Enticing and intriguing, especially after the said 20 minutes. Do try it!

L’Eau de Neroli is a classic cologne, with notes of neroli, orange blossom, geranium and beeswax. I think this one is more popular and original out of the three Diptyque colognes(L’Eau de L’Eau, L’Eau des Hesperides & L’Eau de Neroli). It opens with a cool green citrus accord – refreshing and nice ,after 20 minutes it has moved to a fantastic heart of neroli, orange blossom, and geranium. The base is a pleasantly orienal musky and woody with a little creaminess thanks to the beeswax. L’Eau de Neroli would be a perfect scent for summer!
