It’s wonderful. At first my fingertips smelled like aftershave, but then it opened into the most enveloping, comforting, wonderful fragrance. It’s truly not feminine, but as it evolves it’s also not overly masculine. Solid unisex.
After maybe 5-10 minutes the “aftershave” opens to a clean, warm, woodsy fragrance. Very robust, great depth, with almost a hint of vanilla lurking in there, which I must be imagining (though it might be the nutmeg). But that note adds the exact right hint of gourmand to offset the woodsy-ness.
I happened to try this right after Baume du Doge, a fragrance I was really excited about yesterday but now that I tried Le Message Oublie I’m not as impressed. Baume du Doge appealed to me in a similar way though, so now I have one on each wrist. They both start out with a heady orange, so there’s a similarity at the start. Le Message Oublie is stronger though, has better sillage and maybe it’s the pepper and resin that give it a little spiciness. The Le Message (nutmeg?) is brighter somehow than the Baume (cloves?). After they open, Le Message delivers delicious woodsy spicyness that trumps a flatter Baume, particularly as the Baume has a slightly sour undercurrent that I can’t quite place.
After a half hour or so, the two are back to being weirdly similar even though they have very few notes in common. Baume du Doge is a little lighter, without being brighter necessarily–the vanilla kicks in which is a good thing. I have to really put my nose near my wrist to get the Baume smell whereas Le Message has better projection, though like the Baume it also fades as it opens. It gets more masculine, though that nutmeg or whatever is a femme counterbalance.
Just for fun I added Musc Ravageur to the back of my hand to see where that fits in, and it’s definitely similar to the other two on me. Which, Musc Ravageur is a masculine vanilla with orange, a little spice, and amazing projection. Since I already have the Musc, I probably don’t need a FB of Le Message. I’m tempted!! But after an hour or so, Le Message d’Oublie gets just a touch too masculine, and instead of blending with my being so to speak, it’s a little like I borrowed my boyfriend’s fragrance. Not the desired effect at present. But still a delicious, really excellent fragrance.

Wow, this so wasn’t my experience. While I love this one, it was very odd on me. I got wood smoke, rubber and motor oil, seriously. But it was somehow a pleasant, comforting scent for all it’s highly chemical aspects. I have the sample pack too and while about a third of them are horrible on me some of them are really lovely, so it’s a fun journey anyway!

I bought a sample pack of Antichambre perfumes. le Message Oublie is not to be forgotten. It has all the elements that persuade me to smell it over and over on my skin.
First of all, it is complex. Secondly it is moderately strong…. I dislike scents that are too subtle. Thirdly it it sweet and earthy and fruity and rich and tobaccoy. if that is a word. Overall sensuous. Perfumes are more for me to smell tha n I care what others think about the odor…. usually people perfume themselves for others, but I like to smell scents on me.
Well whatever, Antichambre has numerous wonderful, original, interesting and sublime scents. The names mean nothing…… but try some. You won’T regret it
