The original le male is one of my most loved frags. It’s sweet, elegant and cozy. Ultra male is another loved frag. Ultra male to me is a stronger more intense le male with added sexiness and a bubblegum vibe to it. As I feel le male is more wearable and more divers so I do wear it more then ultra male but I like ultra male just a bit more. But it’s louder more goddy. Le male terrible is a wonderful flanker. I was really excited to purchase this because of the notes and reviews and because it’s been discontinued. I was lucky to find a brand new 125ml bottle. Now when I first got this the first thing… like with most flankers I grabbed two shirts and have each one a couple sprays from each frag. Now at very first to me nose they actually smelled absolutely identical. I was actually like wtf!!! To my surprise i couldn’t detect any differences at all. I got frustrated tbh. A few hours later I came back and smelled both shirts and boom. They smelled so so so different actually completely different. So the next day I decided to wear both one on one arm and vice versa. And I can say that these fragrances are just as different as they are similar. I’m still not sure why the first time I smelled it it smelt identical ? I read one review say it could have been called le male sport. And I would agree I’d add extreme le male sport extreme!! While the original is creamy slightly woody with mint vanilla lavender! This ones bitter very slightly peppery. It does smell slightly like lemale but with a truly shining add on of grapefruit and pink pepper. This is not creamy or slightly woody. This frag also changes. When first sprayed it’s smells more like the origainl but the top notes pop. Mid dry down the basnotes and midnotes shine. At the very end the base notes fade away and your left with top notes again a slightly peppery kinda sporty grapefruit. I think if this fragrance had been released this year or last it would have done well. I think it does have its place in the flanker line up. If your a fan of le male. Track one of these down. I am happy with this. If I had to choose which I prefer the original would get the edge as it’s just more comforting in a way more familliar if that makes sense.

Good scent, but poor marketing with the name.
Never really liked the original Le Male – too potent for me.
Love Ultra Male (or course it’s powerful too) but too heavy to be worn in the summer.
But this one seems just right for the spring and summer.
If they just named it Le Male Sport it might have been a hit.

    Terribly-nice!
Same Le Male DNA, not as intense as the vintage version, but with better performance than Le Male post-reformulation.
The publicity presents it as the boy who reveals himself, a BLADE (knife) chained to his neck and profile “vandalism.”
The bottle is very pretty, with its altered stripes and its infamous virile member.
It is a pretty “playful” perfume and indeed it is what we can call Flankers, since it is consistent with the aroma of the matrix fragrance.
It feels very sweet, refreshing, something minty and vanilla, I almost do not feel pepper, thankfully.
The drying reminds me Burberry Touch for men and a pinch of Joop.
I can perceive it very easily around me and provides a lot of security.
For its freshness and other attributes, I would recommend it in the spring, it seems sweet for summer use.
ideal for parties and informal meetings with friends and family.
It is not a Masterpiece, nor rupturist, if very nice and “sexy”.
Recommended for the Fans of Le Male, you will surely enjoy it a lot and an excellent contribution to the endless collection to the “Le-Malist ” flankers.

To me, this Le Male Terrible smells very, very, very similar to the original LE MALE but too intense.
I would dare to say that is the same fragrance but too much strong.
My first impression was I didn’t like it at all but when the time goes by smells a little bit different.
I can smell the lavender, the vanilla, the pink pepper and the grapefruit very intensely.
Not my favorite fragrance of the amazing Jean Paul Gaultier but I like it.

Le Male is one of my beloved fragrances, instantly recognizable and iconic.
Le Male Terrible is Le Male with short lived pepper and citrus. It’s a bit fresher and more energetic than its father (considering the word play – Enfant Terrible) which is to be expected since it’s younger. But it is not naughtier.
Actually it’s Enfant Innocent to my nose.
It still has enough of its father’s DNA to really like it. And yet there is something in the child that plays down all my loving attempts. Never mind, i will use it with utmost joy.

It was a blind buy, the scent itself is sensual and beautiful but sadly it’s so weak after one hour i have to push my nose into my arm to feel it again, and nobody can smell it even if i bath with it.

Fragrance -Le Male Terrible Jean Paul Gaultier
    Bottle from – 2015
It’s very similar to the classic Le Male from 1995.The composition remains more or less the same.Using the same main notes(vanilla and lavender),with a little touch of grapefruit and pink pepper,as an alternative to mint, the perfumer makes Le Male Terrible look like a more tamed and brighter version of classic Le Male.Nevertheless it’s a beautiful and well-blended scent.
    Longevity – 8/10(8+hours)
Silage/projection -8/10(nice projection for the first 2-3 hours, silage also exist)
    Weather – autumn,winter

Everybody is saying that Le Male is for colder days because it’s sweatness, but I just don’t think so! This kind of is a funny, happy vibe of sweatness, like sun lotion nearby the sea.
I think Terrible is a very interesting fragrance in the sunny, happy side of life. It is strong, long lasting, and it has a very nice phases of dry down. It is versatile enough, you can give it a try in the office, for e.g. in fridays…
Unfortunately it is not for me, so it will be a very nice birthday present to my brother, who is standing in the borderline of the teen and adoult age… 🙂

I was on the “Le Male” trend when it first came out and to be quite honest I was so enthusiastic with this, that I owned every single product of the “Le Male” product line. Years passed and “Le Male” started to show its age, while it got copied to every kind of product you could imagine, from shower gels and deodorants to room perfumes and candles. So I got a little bored with it and I moved on to other perfumes, although ‘Le Male” always had a special place in my heart.
I really didn’t bother with all those countless flankers that JPG released over the years since I got a sample of this, which I actually forgot for some time and today I gave it a try.
First of all there is a lot of original Le Male DNA in it but it feels more polite, less harsh and more wearable that the original. I get more pepper than vanilla, making it a better version, which is quite a surprise.
The bad news are that I get literally no projection and bad longevity, it performs as a skin perfume on me, which is quite peculiar, as long as the original Le Male juice was a performance and projection beast.
*This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

I have to respectfully disagree with those who say this is a cold weather clubbing fragrance. I personally gravitate to it during crisp, sunny spring or early summer days. I smell little more than a dry, somewhat spicy lavender floating on a very sweet vanilla. This is one of my “fun” frags, and I’m a 40 yr old who doesn’t do much clubbing these days.
Quick story – went out today to get a backup bottle. Saw like 5 cans on the shelf, so I thought there was no chance they would sell out while I was clothes shopping. Tried on some clothes, settled on a sport coat and some slacks, and wandered over to shoes . as I’m browsing, a man walked past me carrying 4 cans of the Terrible. I asked “are you buying all of those?” He said he was. I asked if there was any left. He said that he’s buying it all. I said I came in for a can, it’s what I’m wearing now…. He pondered the situation, and gave me a can. One of the last decent men happens to be a le Male Terrible lover.
I can count on one hand with fingers left over how many frags i love, and this is one of them. And, as of today, its the only frag I have an unopened backup bottle of in the drawer as well.
    7/10
EDIT: Funny how tastes change – I built up my wardrobe a bit and this one got shoved to the back of the drawer. I long ago returned my back up bottle for a refund, and just traded my barely used bottle for a backup bottle of Pour Monsieur Concentree. Nothing personal against this fragrance, I think I’m just more into more old school (or old man) fragrances.

I like this one better than the original. It’s not quite as harsh to me and more smooth. It may not have the same projection and silliage as the original, but that’s not always a bad thing.

Le Male was released in 1995 and has quickly become adored throughout the world. I confess that I have a great affection and admiration for its fragrance. Since its launch, the house of Jean Paul Gaultier has already brought to the market almost 40 variations, including limited and collectors editions. However, some say it was reformulated in 2010 and, later, in 2012 in order to meet the requirements of the governing agencies regarding the compositions of certain perfumes and the ingredients used in them.
Because of this, immediately after the first batches reach stores around the world, thousands of loyal users criticized the loss of potency and durability of its fragrance. Coincidence or not, in the same year of 2010, Le Male Terrible, created by Aurelien Guichard, who has worked on creations for Azzaro, Davidoff, Nina Ricci, etc. arrived in the market. Until then, the favorite perfumer to give life to flankers was Francis Kurkdjian.
Le Male Terrible was a limited edition, which brought notes of grapefruit and pink pepper, on top; Lavender and vetiver, in the body; Amber and vanilla, in the base. While the DNA of the line was established, basically, on the notes of lavender, mint and vanilla and although the ginger note also appears in many of the flankers, this time the fragrance brought the vetiver, which few people extol, but it makes a big difference in the final result.
Le Male Terrible touches the skin a bit more bitter, but with the same construction of the original version. Before, the artemisia and the bergamot gave that bitter nuance. Now, the grapefruit does that job. The pink pepper is not spicy either, as many people think. People love to say that the perfume became “spicy” because of this ingredient, but its nuances are much more floral than spicy. So, it is wise to pay attention to how this note develops, making room for the lavender, which is wonderful in this scent. But the vetiver, in my opinion, is the great star of the evolution, with its smoky and slightly chocolate-flavored nuances, without much woody content.
To finish, the notes of amber and vanilla can replace, with praise, the base of the original version, which contained more ingredients, such as tonka bean, cedar, etc.
Le Male Terrible was, in my opinion, an attempt to offer the public, again, the original fragrance with a different composition but with excellent projection and durability. No wonder it was marketed as Eau de Toilette Extreme.

Own an older bottle of this one which has now for sure been reformulated, reading the latest reviews! The older version is certainly lasting quite a long time and is, as said by others already, less cloying and more citrus-spicy than the original which is sweeter, louder and cloying.
Thumbs up for the older version of LM Terrible! Rating: 7.5/10

Every now and then, clumsy giant creatures invade your peaceful little world….out of them pours various noises much alike creatures having a fit or the bowing of great trees. It’s quite annoying. The latest couple lasted a few minutes before lifting their portable cloud to let you breathe again….you stretch deeply as the sun trickles over your extremities. You can see the rays dancing in their pinks and golds, greens and reds, and blues and yellows across your crisp green flesh. The sun tastes like the warmest pepper and juiciest grapefruit – its essence tingles slightly. Your body dances instinctually, reaching toward the nourishing essence. You pause in your moment of glory – there is a dense fog rolling ominously toward you. You close your bud in preparation for the chill lurking toward you. It hits in a wave of thick vanilla and sharp lavender with a crisp root note…a dandy fog. As it washes over, you begin to feel warm in the rolling blanket and drink it in, cautiously. You are suspended in the mist…the white and grey releases all the savagery of a life of struggle. Light peeks through once again and you are made whole – you blossom once again.
    Day 90 – Momentary
    Listening to: Muse – Sunburn
Notes: Of all of the JPG Flanders that are similar to the original (Fleur du Male is my favorite but is quite different from the original), Terrible is undoubtedly my go to! For those who claim this is a “more masculine” rendition of the original (and its million flankers), I have to agree but only slightly. Upon spraying, I am met with an energizing combination of grapefruit, mint, and pink pepper – this is where it strays most from the original as the pink pepper lends a touch of masculine charm. However, even the opening is cloaked in the frothy deliciousness that is the JPG vanilla. Every sniff will yield a mix of pepper and vanilla…and it is delicious! Terrible holds above the skin like a beautiful cloud of nondescript, slightly sharp lavender and citric woods (it could be vetiver or Iso E Super) with that beautiful amber and vanilla. Almost every note is present from the beginning and the fume slowly sweetens over time (the pepper only makes it a pinch more “manly”) and can easily be enjoyed by anyone. The fume is also surprisingly durable as I get a good 8 to 10 hours without fail. If you don’t own a JPG Male fume, get this as it is a more interesting version that the original and its army of flankers!

What a terrible name for a fragrance sold in English speaking countries right? Having a French heritage (my lastname is Perreault) I know what “terrible” means in French but ofcourse for those who don’t speak French, it is a horrible choice of names. I will say don’t let the name steer you away. This surpassed my expectations simply because of the fact it is a Le Male flanker. Original Le Male is a classic but the flankers have been redundant & simply come off as cash grabs. Only reason I purchased LMT was simply to complete my Le Male collection.
Scent: I find that LMT is more masculine than the original & IMO, more wearable. The spice notes in this frag remind me of Prada Amber Intense but toned down. To my nose LMT is basically a clash of original Le Male & Amber Intense minus the screaming projection of the latter two. I find LMT to be quite enjoyable & more versatile than the original.
Performance: Comparable to the reformulated original. You’re basically looking at a 2.5 hours of projection and 5-7 hours of longevity. For the price it is acceptable in my book. If you look online or check at your local TJ’s, Marshalls, or Ross you may find LMT in the $15-30 range which is reasonable. I paid $27 for my bottle thru fragrancenet. I would not spend full retail on this nor the other Le Male bottles.
Overall: not a “terrible” fragrance by any means but at the same time it is not a game changer or must have. I would recommend this mostly for men who find the original too feminate or cloying.

I love this fragrance. I don’t care how many flankers, and how old and tired it gets over the years. It is still “LE MALE”.
I love the scent and I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear this one. I really enjoy this flanker, a slight twist from the original.

I got it at Ross yesterday for about $30-40 for the 4.2 and wore it to today at work. I come into my office with my female coworker and im in there for about a minute as she greets me for the day and she stops in the middle of her conversation and says ” What is that you have on. Got Damn makes me want to get a uhh uhh, You lucky i see you as my little brother”
No lie those were her exact words. Its only she knows im into colognes and she has only got that excited over 2 of my fragrances this one being the most vulgar lol.
So this is gone be a must have in my collection

This is actually pretty good it’s got a candy type of smell to it I just now noticed it and it is different from the original it starts off with some of the original ingredients vanilla lavender etc but changes after about 20min to 30min it’s a like and 7/10 I know where’s the periods and commas I ain’t got time for that

Well..It got me since first sniff!
The combination of JPG vanilla and amber create an amazing yummy fragrance.
Top note smell kinda like Paco Rabanne one million to me.Since they both have grapefruit note I think.
The only disappointed thing is sillage. Not everyone could smell it even when they’re closed to me.
Btw It lasts forever on my skin!!!
The bottle and sprayer are great.

got it some years ago and i really had prefered it on the original le male because of the pepper not that make it mor masculine and sparkling…however, now has been probably reformulated as the original one and his longevitiy is probably about 20minutes.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

In French “Terrible” can mean “terrific” as much as “terrible” in context. Sort of like saying something is “bad” can be a compliment. As an example, the French Navy has had at least one ship named “Terrible” for much of its time (Destroyer, Submarine, etc.)….
I saw a bottle of this at Ross for $11 and couldn’t resist trying it out. I like the original Le Male, but it is such a vanilla bomb beast that I only wear it on rare occasion. Certainly never to work in the office. I was thrilled to find that Terrible, ironically, seemed a lot more wearable to me. To me the pepper brings a quality to it that makes it a lot more mature. Yet, someone mature who still has a sense of humor and a streak of rebellion.
Actually, with the vanilla tempered, I get all the notes in a nice balance: pepper, lemon, lavender, vanilla, vetiver, all come through over the amber base. Obviously, I find this a worthy and useful flanker. It does lose some of the projection, longevity, and sillage that the original LM is famous for, but it is still well above average and the tempering makes it more versatile for me. Not nearly as popular either, so you have a better chance of wearing something no one else around is wearing. This is one of my best blind buys: score.
Funny story: It was late afternoon so I pulled out the Terrible for a touch-up. I put a spray on each arm and right afterwards a co-worker walked into my office. I thought, “oh no, bad timing! Someone walks in right after I spray Le Male, I’m going to smell way too strong here. Couldn’t she have walked in 20 minutes later?” Instead she smiled and said, “it smells yummy in here!”

  29. :

    5 out of 5

The pepper, citrus, and perhaps vetiver add some contrast to the tonka/vanilla milky/creamy quality to make this one superior to the original, at least for me. Of course if you want the original’s powerful milky/creamy quality, this one may disappoint. I’m not sure if this would ever be a top 10 scent for me, but I look forward to giving it a full/regular wearing – I an see myself enjoying it, since it’s not exactly like anything else I have. Note that my bottle has a January 2012 batch code, so I guess I’m reviewing “vintage” here.

  30. :

Ok…so I wasn’t really a big big fan of JPG. I smelled the original before, that strong open smell of vanilla and mint. Firstly I said it’s too strong, it’s too sweet..I didn’t really like the original that much. I blind bought this ” terrible”. I must say..I’m happy with it 🙂 i got myself a 75ml, i was afraid I might not like it. Indeed it smells like the original on the drydown, but when you apply you get that beautiful smell of vanilla and citrus( i love citruses), it smells so good, like a gourmand.
From what i get I’d say that:
Longevity: on my skin is around 7-8H
Silage: I don’t really smell anything from my own opinion. My nose is dumb sometimes… I can’t even smell Pacco Rabbane 1 million. BUT i asked my sister if she can smell it from a distance and she said yes. so I’d give it a 8.5/10
    Overall :9.5/10
    I love it <3

A perfect perfume to use in every season during the day or even better during the night.
Very soapy and fresh with a great vanilla note but a little bit spicier then normal Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male.
Suited for men in age 20+, the scent is very good but the longevity is short on skin (but it is better on clothes).

    Longevity 6/10

I bought this blind to replace fragrance with vanilla notes that I enjoy since I wanted to try something different than the bottle of 212 Sexy Men by Carolina Herrera I ran out of. I’ve had it for a few weeks and it has grown on me. Liked it at first but primarily came across too sweet with strong vanilla and lavender notes coming at me too heavily. After wearing it more consistently I’ve gotten good peppery notes combined with citrus and woody traces from the amber. This is leading me to start loving this fragrance. It does resemble 212 sexy men, but enjoy the spiciness I get from Le Male Terrible. I smell it on my skin and clothes 6-7 hours after wearing it so enjoy that as well so far. Got a good buy.
Just noticed that Aurelien Ghichard is the nose behind this fragrance. Makes complete sense since he was the nose behind Eros by Versace as well which I thoroughly enjoy. Thumbs up once again!

Things you should Know before you buy:
-Has Le male DNA but does not smell the same, in my opinion smells more inviting, comforting, but better in warmer way.
-I am getting terrible longevity with this. (appropriately named)
-I thought because of the name it was going to be solid like le male is known for, I knew it was weaker which is a plus because frankly I dont like cologne that last 24 hours on my skin so I decided to purchase.
The problem is I’m getting 3 hours tops with this
Now I don’t know if I got a expired bottle or heat killed my juice somehow somewhere but let me tell you I cant even smell the juice from the sprayer itself!!!!!!!!!
Im giving this a thumbs down Im very disapointed and feel let down. Sad for myself I was hoping to feel great about sporting this stuff

This fragrance does not give off a very sensual vibe; just very inviting, comforting and clean. Vanilla and lavender together will promote that feeling, and those notes really sing in this rendition of the original. Simple and straight-forward. I would recommend this if you’re trying to make others feel more welcome around you, not intrigued or afflicted. Try it out if you think that’s for you!

Terrible!?! Pas du tout! Seriously, in the past I had a hard time with the Original Le Male. I’ve avoided it along with its double-digit incarnations, the original now about 20 years old, most of which are just bottle design changes and Summer editions, but I just couldn’t get into this scent. The impressions I always get when I smell it is that it’s not for me. The visions I get in my head is always a man with a taste for irreverance, wears it because he thinks he’ll get some sex if he wears it. And the desperation is proportionate with the amount he puts on. That being said, Le Male Original is a BIG scent. Very heavy, with aromatic notes that barely livens it up. The vanilla-tonka notes are thick and syrupy. My lungs close up just thinking about it. It hangs out in the era of Lolita Lempicka. Somehow I can relate to Lolita, but Le Male is definitely the L’enfant Terrible!
But now I have to shut my mouth with the creation of Terrible. People are panning it because it just does not rise up to the grandiosity of the original and expressing an overall yuck with the scent and I really don’t know why because I don’t smell yuck at all.
I’m actually intrigued with Terrible. The Le Male notes finally breathe because the thickness is gone. The vanilla sings, there’s no overdose of tonka, the scent is further lifted with a vetiver note, the spicy notes are just right. Geez, this is a relief for me, because I’ve always wanted to wear Le Male, and now, I can wear it, in a Terrible way.
They call this an EdT Extreme. The scent does last, more or less just as long as the original, but thank goodness it’s not like being a walking vanilla-tonka bomb. It wears closer to the skin. The scent starts off much like the original, perhaps maybe not as minty, though I never thought of mint to be there unless I focused on it when smelling the original. I never liked the original’s development, where it just goes deeper and deeper, and my head just got sicker and sicker. Terrible moves from the original, and settles to a point where the notes meet at a perfect pitch of light aromatics, wood, vanilla and overall sweetness and muskiness. I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. No vulgarity, just a soft, almost playful allure.
I think I would have just avoided Le Male in general if it weren’t for the fact the Terrible was available at a discount store for less than half the price. I didn’t even realize this was a different formulation because the notes seem to be the same as the original. Only difference is that it seems to be slightly differently arranged and definitely less caloric. I’m all in with this version!

Berated and chastised when in came out in Europe across the board by critics and experts a few years ago, shocked to see not just a sprinkling of positive reviews but a landslide of overwhelming praise for this obvious under-performer.
This is NICE. In the sense that JPG’s Le Male Terrible (Tehr-eeb; youtubers) is rather pleasant in its soft and uplifting grapefruit and pink pepper on top that creates a rather summery and light feel when placed into the standard lavender and vanilla concept of the original landmark release. That’s where comparisons to the original should cease. This is a nice permanent substitute for the overkill of bland and poorly crafted summer limited editions that have been thrown at us for years with similar formulas and arrangements, with maybe a mint note here or a spicy note there to give it a new personality and rob you of your hard-earned $65 while giving you 3-5 hours of rehashed blandness and a nice bottle for the top of your dresser drawer. Consider it a donation to Jean Paul Gaultier’s future political ambitions and current television career in France.
Sure, the bottle is beautiful and if you are a compulsive collector of all things JPG than this will be purchased simply because it is Le Male related and part of a well-thought out Bad and Good Boy marketing campaign that ended in Le Beau Male’s release awhile back. But for your average Joe Blow and Joe Six Pack reading this, is this worth your time and money?
No, not really. Unless you are entertaining the prospect of buying one of JPG’s summer releases.. If that’s the case then yes, you are simply better off buying this, because it’s perfect for mild climates and the heat in spring, summer and early fall and performs a bit better and has a very relaxing and uplifting accord to it. This is rather unisex, on women this comes alive a bit more in my opinion than on men. There isn’t a lot of development here. What you get is mostly a lively grapefruit and luscious pink peppery organic top that is quite fun and unique at first, a real novelty. But it dries-down into a rather bland vanilla, amber (there’s a lot more amber here than what people are saying) lavender and citrus scent with the pink-pepper making way for the amber after about an hour.
Those of you expecting any of the oriental loudness and excitement of the original will be extremely disappointed. Those of you even expecting an oriental will be rather disappointed once the dry-down arrives. This doesn’t have much personality, period. It’s too weak, the whole construction fails to hold up the heart or the base.
Projection is rather weak on my skin every time I wear this, no matter the weather or climate. I also don’t get spectacular longevity. I get around six hours almost every-time and during much of the dry-down the scent stays very close to the skin. Projection for me is lightly moderate and then soft after about 30-45 minutes all the way until the end. I think the people here saying this gets incredible projection and longevity are spraying it 6-8 times minimum and re-applying it again every couple of hours.
I know it isn’t popular on this board to ever criticize or insinuate a JPG release is not as good as advertised because of the intense loyalty of many to the original, but let’s be honest; this is pleasant but completely non-essential stuff. Terrible is NICE, like elevator music on a brief trip up the 7th floor, but nothing more than a novelty and a product of a smart and smug marketing campaign than a sincere attempt by JPG to honor the legacy of the original. This is great if you like the summer limited edition release but want the option to buy it anytime, anywhere. You’ll get the same thing in this that you got in those but with that nice grapefruit on top. But given how poorly this consistently performs despite it’s nice, inoffensive blandness, I wouldn’t suggest this to anyone but the over-obsessive collector or fans of nice bottles.

I love the original Le Male, and I had to get this one, as well. I also love grapefruit, so how could I resist this juice? The opening is citrusy, and I can really smell the pink pepper, too. Then, it dries down to sweet lavender and vanilla. It has less of the “dirtiness” of the original Le Male, which I think was given by the caraway note, or something. It was a dusty, almost sweaty and woody accord that was perfect in th
