Description

In 2016, two new limited editions are being introduced in the summery format of Eau Fraiche. The new releases are inspired by the popular characters from comics and cartoons; Popeye the Sailor Man, created by Elzie Crisler Segar in 1929, adorns the Le Male Eau Fraîche edition, while the face of Classique Eau Fraîche is Betty Boop, created in 1930 by Max Fleischer.

Le Male Eau Fraîche Limited Edition Popeye is an extremely masculine scent, exciting and sexy portraying the power of the sailor. Mixed clean and fresh notes with the base made of sweet vanilla have been announced as the perfect ingredients for a strong, charming man. The freshness of neroli, mint and aldehydes in the top lead to the heart of sage and Sclarene molecule (dry wood notes of clary sage, woods and ambrox). The base ends with sweet and warm aromas of vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood. Popeye is shown in the classic striped Gaultier tee-shirt.

Available as a 125 ml Eau de Toilette.
The nose behind this fragrance is Nathalie Gracia-Cetto.

Pleasant scent, proyects ok for like 1 hour, then get a skin scent, longevity arround 6 hours, not the best performing scent in the market, good smell, not the best complement getter, but you can get some, the scent itself is really good, vanilla airy fresh sweet bubblegum sexy

yeah, love it … soft, pleasant marine vibe
    the best for the summer
    – of all gaultier things this is the best!!!

Minty fresh and very pleasant. Surprisingly works very well in hot weather, despite the sweetness.

This one is weird. It’s so contradictory. You have that super sweet vanilla (which makes you think it’s suited for colder days), that gets tamed by the mint. But at the same time it’s the mint (which makes you think this is perfect for really hot weather) that is tamed by the vanilla from getting too sharp. It does smell wonderful. A bit like fresh washed clothes, with added sweetness. But I’m not sure if this is a summer fragrance. On really warm summer days, the sweetness can be a bit too much. That’s why I prefer to wear this on mild days, where it’s not too warm and not too cold. Great Longevity and Sillage on my skin. High positive attention from this one too, it just works for me I guess?

So they got rid of ultra male and kept possibly the worst version ever of lemale. Upsettig. This is unisex to me. One of those sweet, fresh delicate scents that has an underlying candy sweetness, almost like marshmallows and people wana call ultra male feminine..makes sense of that for me. I’d go for Chanel Sport Eau Extreme and leave this to another audience.

Not really a review, but a question. I’ve heard people compare this to Invictus Aqua, is that in any way true? Thank you.

when it comes to the summer and really hot weather,
i´m looking forward to spray this on because it´s sooo
    navy/marine beautiful sea+mint smell ….. love it !!!

    Completely agree with Martinfjord
This is way too sweet to be worn in the summertime or any kind warm of environment. it is 90% Le Male dna, JPG is out of their mind introducing this as a summer frag

its funny how jeremy has classed it as a “fresh” scent and it sticked. i have nothing againts the guy, quite like him in fact, however, next to the many great things he says, he also can talk total non-sense time to time. lets just face it is without a doubt an aromatic, pretty heavy and zero precent “fresh” scent.
it has nothing to do with freshness. would be an absolute terrible gym choice and in fact, daytime and also summertime is pretty much out of question with this one too. so dont be a fool and jump on any wagon. it is not a fresh frag, it is 90% the same old le male DNA, and if anything, it is made even heavier and sweeter.

I really enjoyed this 1! I do really like it but I can’t say I’m in love.
This opens up with a very airy, fresh linen type of smell with mint and tonka sweetness in the background. It’s pretty linear but once it dries down the vanilla comes to the forefront making this slightly vpcreamy but it still retains that freshness from the opening.
Again very nice scent that to my nose smells like a more wearable, summery Versace Eros !
Performance is good as this lasts 4-6 hours with only average projection. However, this does leave a nice Sillage trail.
Overall rating— 7 out of 10 ! I’m not a big fan of the fresh, sweet bubblegum type of scent but this isn’t too shabby. I can see this growing on me more this summer
Sidenote: My favorite part of this fragrance is the drydown and also my fiancées thoughts on this was that it was ok and wouldn’t mind if I wear it but it wasn’t 1 of her favorites.

JPG loves to discontinue good perfumes and replaced them with a bad or weaker one. Ultra male was discontinued and now this?

In my opinion, the best Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance! Minty, sweet, with tonka bean?! I love it! I don’t really know how Popeye was chosen as this fragrance mascot. Maybe, because this fragrance smells green and Popeye eats spinach? However, I can very much picture a handsome sailor rocking this fragrance. Popeye is a very casual, summer-time fragrance. And, women LOVE IT! Every girl that I’ve asked all loved it with no one ever gave this fragrance anything below an 8/10. Every time I’m hanging out with a girl and I get close to her, they compliment me. This fragrance is a womanizer gem!
This fragrance does smell a lot like Chanel Allure Homme eau de Extreme. More sweeter than Allure Extreme, but very similar. However, for the price tag? Yes, please! Now, I heard that Superman smells nearly identical to Superman, but I haven’t tried Superman yet. However, as of 2018, Superman is much more easier to find than Popeye.

Smell: 7/10 great mint freshness. similar to eros but more summery. also smells like fresh clothes straight from the laundry. clean
Performance: 5/10 5 hours max and 2 hours of okay projection, but mint fragrances generally do not last long.
Compliments: 9.5/10 ladies hugging me a second time just to smell it again
Versatility: 8/10 Spring and summer, casual work office school.
    Presentation: who cares?/10
Overall: 6.5/10 for me, fresh, minty, but nothing special. pass

This is a mint powder bomb. Not a huge fan. I don’t know when or where I’d rock this. Perhaps lunch by myself on a warm afternoon?
It also reminds me of my original Allure Homme Sport. I’d rather go with the original Le Male, Le Male Summer (2010), or Reflection or even Pegasus.
UPdate: horrendous sulpheric punch in the mid notes. I’m sensing a similar but less intense effect in Ultramale. Thanks for samples!!!
Ok dry down is light and smooth. I get this one now

This is a very sporty fraiche …. smells very very fresh in the opening n dry down it’ smells exactly like vintage Le Male ….. sporty in the sense the more u sweat the fragrance gets boosted …. A very nice fragrance for the GYM
    Smell- 8/10
    Longevity-7/10( somewhere b/w 6-8 hrs)
Projection-7/10( heavy for 2 hrs then becomes moderate)
Versatility- 6/10 ( fun type of casual fragrance best suited for the summer)

  20. :

    4 out of 5

Yes, it is enjoyable and people do like it. Sillage is only about 1 foot, so if you are looking to get everyone to be talking about you, this is not for that. But when someone does smell it they will comment on how nice you smell.
Longevity is just about average for me. 3-4 Hours on the skin. But spray it on clothes and it will last an extra 2 hours. Expected for a semi-fresh fragrance. It is somewhat fresh, however, hits you with a light sweetness, then is fresh again, then sweet. Very intriguing. It opens fresh, then it is closer to the sweet side on the dry-down, while creamy all the way through.
I don’t get the bubblegum vibe that others mention. For me, I get a hint, a very small hint of rubbery feel. Reminds me of condom rubbery scent, very slightly behind the sweetness. Bringing about thoughts of past experiences, making it a bit sexual. After an hour the rubbery-ness nearly fades away and freshness and sweetness die down, blending the sents and becoming tamed and closer to the skin.
I really enjoy this fragrance. The smell is good.
    Overall a 6/10

Great fresh minty fragrance.I absolutely love the original Le Male, this one though is a completely different fragrance.it’s much more light and all-around type of fragrance that can be worn everywhere even at work or school.
longevity is medium, definitely not like the original but still acceptable.
Poppeye was special edition for 2016 summer, and Superman is the special edition for 2017 summer.both are 100% exactly same fragrances with different graphics and styles on bottle.
    Recommended!

It’s a fresher, sweeter, younger Le male. On me it doesn’t feel too strong or sweet, well balanced, you can enjoy all year if you want a fresh and sweet scent without overwhelming, easy to wear and like for everyone. I think it’s an unisex frag 🙂 The only downside is the modest projection and longevity.

  23. :

yeah, agree totally with the comment below (from editionblanche) i wear it during fall season and i got huge compliment from my friends (man and his lady) …. very cosy, soothing and reminding a summer breeze during the fall season
´s like effortless breeze … a pleasant vibe

  24. :

    5 out of 5

This is what LE MALE should smell like
While the original made me sick, this one is enchanting
It’s all about mint and vanilla, but in a milder and more balanced way
Aldehydes play an important role and make the link between those two contrasting ingredients.
In practical terms the scent is cosy and tender.
Somehow fresh and sweet at the same time. Fits both summer and winter and is very versatile.
Sillage and longevity are far more than acceptable
Gaultier got the job well done here

  25. :

    5 out of 5

no problem with it … i was always disappointed with anything that gaultier has released …..
but this is gentle, pleasant, bubblegum-almost cotton candy
sweet fragrance …. not overly like ultra male or the old le male which gave me a headache instantly …
this is good … no other words for that
it doesn´t remind me chanel allure eau extreme …
it´s simply modern kinda one million/eros vibe …. but very tamed, gentle and light in comparasion to one million or eros … those two are towards to headache smell while spraying more than 3 sprays … this is a way more pleasant/gentle …. not punch into the face

  26. :

It has minty opening with cooling effect. Sweet drydown. No performance issuees on me and what so ever.Lasts easily 6 plus hour. Projects for 2 hr. And i am happy with that. Easily likable scent. For the vanilla base i think it can be worn on winter or fall too. And guess what the presentation reminds me of popeyes spinach can.

Bought this Fragrance when it was first released i have been wearing it on and off for a year and what i can say is if you have been a fan of the original Le Male and not all the bullshit flankers this one definitely stands out. My girlfriend specifically requests that i wear this every time we go out on hot days here in Los Angeles. I do own two backup bottle of Popeye but the superman version smells exactly the same. Get it before the third version gets released summer 2018 which i would guess will not have the exact scent of either or.
    Scent:8/10
    longevity: 8/10
    Sillage:7.5/10

First of all, I am a woman, so I’m not the original target demographic for this fragrance.
When I was a teen, Le Male was among the most popular fragrances for teenage boys and young men. Or even THE most popular. I liked it a lot. But it always had the reputation of being a cologne for the gym-tanning-bed-club kind of guy, which brought me to the dilemma that I loved the scent but not the image.
Years later I still like Le Male, but I wouldn’t want my boyfriend to smell like Le Male.
I often thought about just buying a tiny bottle of a cheap dupe and using it on myself, but never did so, as I thought maybe it would be too strong and masculine for me (men’s fragrances in general tend to smell “wrong” on my skin).
Then I thought maybe a light summer flanker would be something I could wear, and that brought me to the Popeye Eau Fraiche.
At first I smell mint, freshness and a touch of vanilla. The typical Le Male DNA is there, but it’s fresher.
Unfortunately for me, it soon becomes very sweet. I don’t recognize any kind of bubblegum here, but a lot of vanilla and powdery, almondy tonka.
It’s sweeter than many women’s fragrances for sure, if it didn’t have the Le Male DNA nobody would notice it’s not an unisex fragrance. Easily wearable for women, but not really what I was looking for – I liked the light minty freshness with vanilla from the beginning, not a sickly powder bomb.
The final drydown is a bit less sweet, though. While vanilla and tonka are still prominent, the mint and sage shine through a bit in the base.
The projection is quite good to me. I don’t project scents well, but this always wafted from my hand to my nose the day I tested it.

This version reminds me of a strange mix of candy cane and bubblegum. Although this is a really long lasting scent plus a fun bottle type of flanker, it’ll never be as good as the original to me.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

    I love.
Long lasting. Projection is heavy the first two hours. After, the scent is moderate, but still present.
It smells sweet (some reviewers talk about musmallows scent, i agree). There is a hint of mint. It’s fresh too. This fragrance means quality. At the end of the day, i get a slightly touch of Le Mâle.
Women love the scent of this fragrance.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

To me this smells like Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme with hints of vanilla and mint. Gym scent, nothing to write home about. Ultra male has more punch despite this having Popeye on the bottle. Sad.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

Le headache. I just don’t understand how people can say that “this is nothing like the classic la male..” Its the classic la male in its full form with bubblegum sweetness added upon it. The mint gives illusion of lighter feel in the beginning, but the more it stays on skin the less mint is there and it gets sweeter and sweeter with brutal projection and pressure on my nose drills..
Who ever likes it gets beast performance for his money.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Let’s get this out of the way first, I am genuinely not a big fan of JPG’s bottles. But there’s something about the cheeky way the bottle incoporates Popeye that makes me smile. The fact it comes in a robust steel tin makes me wish you could pop the bottle out the same way Popeye does with his spinich.
Now the fragrance. For me, fragrance is a means to go on a journey (familiar or otherwise). This one takes me I to my kitchen, where I have a cupboard where my sweets are stashed. A mixture of marshmallows, extra strong mints and whatever else happens to be in there at the time.
The opening starts with a nice fresh sweet mint. Not sickly, or overpowering. Much like the mints in my cuboard, this smell doesn’t last. Instead, it’s replaced by marshmallows. Again, not overpowering it sits close to the skin and almost turns into a clean linen smell. Perfect for the spring and summer.
I don’t know what mints and marshmallows have to do with Popeye, but I’m a fan.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Pretty sweet smelling fragrance. And yeah I’m in agreement with most other reviews that it has that bubblegum type of vibe going on. The original le male DNA is in the background and as proclaimed, in a fresh way, nowhere near as minty as the first one. Gives off a Chanel Allure Sport vibe. I like it.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Beautiful, fragrance, I bought this when it came out last year, and I was scared of running out so i only spray it on for special occasions. Very Mint and bubble gum like, very fresh perfect for hot summer temperatures. This is a real lady killer fragrance right here, its sweet but not in a bad fruity way, I wish this was a regular fragrance

  36. :

    4 out of 5

    Pass
Invictus aqua smells better if you are searching for a bubblegum vibe to work in the heat.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

So I’ve mostly seen people comparing this to 1 Million, Ultra Male, Le Male and Invictus. I do not agree. I do smell some similarities to Le Male of course, and maybe 1 Million but I really don’t find it to be like Invictus or Ultra Male at all. This one has a clear “bubble gum” accord that is not found in the other scents. Reminds me of CLEAN for men, just smell it and you get the same bubbelgum. Definitely not a blind buy guys, test this one because it’s slightly feminine.

  38. :

Somehow i get 10-14 hours og longevity and great sillage 🙂

As a kid I had a friend and when we went to his parents apartment it would smell just like this. They had their washer and drier in the kitchen due to the size of the apartment. I don’t know if it was their detergent or fabric softener or a mix of these, but it smelled exactly like this. It’s very nice, but I can’t see this being a head turner.

@JovanK, it is a limited edition. This year Superman and Wonder Woman are faces of the eau fraiche flankers.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

i found it interesting that some say it deosn’t last at all and others say it lasts after 2 showers. i think this problem occurs especially with fragrances which have ambroxan as one of their notes. it’s also the same with dior sauvage. it is a strong fragrance but you will have people that tell you it doesn’t last long.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

I found a bottle on Century 21 Department Stores online site. Took like three weeks to get here but is def a legit bottle for around 65 dollars shipped. I didn’t even know they had department stores but its legit. As far as the fragrance goes, I def am picking up an Invictus Aqua vibe but with a slight different kind of sweetness to it. Looking forward to wearing it this summer.

  45. :

Just an awesome fragrance and fantastic compliments, can’t believe how much this has grown on me.
    8.5/10

  46. :

    3 out of 5

This was a pleasant surprise. It’s fresh and sweet in the same vein as Invictus Aqua, but instead of Invictus’ trademark sweet accord, Popeye incorporates mint. I think if you like one you’ll like the other. Of course this still contains the basic Le Male DNA, but overall it feels a bit lighter, and updated through the addition of ambroxan. This is a friendly scent, and doesn’t take itself too seriously, giving off a sort of happy, playful vibe. What I like most about it is the effect of the mint accord; it feels very airy and diffusive, so it really projects and gets out there in sweet, aromatic wafts while still remaining light. Popeye Eau Fraiche is probably best suited for temperate climates, as the mint becomes muted in very cold weather and the sweetness may become overbearing when it’s very hot. I like to wear it on mild winter days and think it will be great during the spring. It can probably be compared most to Versace Eros as far as its smell, though this one has less tonka and as a result is lighter overall, with the mint elevated to an airier, more diffusive plane. So I suppose it has the feel of Invictus Aqua and the smell of Eros. Either way, it works well. Performance is very good and should last you throughout the day. You’ll probably like this if you enjoy Invictus, Eros, One Million, Ultra Male, or Allure Homme Sport. If you don’t like those fragrances, then Le Male Popeye Eau Fraiche is probably not for you. Thumbs up.
One final note: I don’t think this was meant to be worn heavily. It really smells most appealing when it comes across in light wafts. 2 or 3 good sprays should do you fine, but once you get into the 5-6 range you’re risking turning this one into an obnoxious, juvenile kind of smell. Of course if you’re going to a club or something you can always add an extra spray or two, but for the average day, 2 or 3 is my recommendation.
EDIT: Just to reiterate, because people seem to be getting confused–this does not smell like Invictus Aqua–it just feels like it. The weight of their compositions, their textures, and sweet/watery qualities are quite in line with one another. But THIS smells like mint and Le Male, and Invictus Aqua smells like Invictus.

  47. :

Last 10 hours ++….This smells like a lighter version of Versace Eros… also reminds me of Hugo Boss Red ..

  48. :

    4 out of 5

This flanker receives a lot of love in certainly fragrances communities. Well…I’ve sampled this fragrance three times over a few months and it’s a decent fragrance but, overall, I am not motivated to buy a bottle. To me, Popeye Eau Fraiche is a pinch of Le Male DNA blended with some citrus and that department store scent. Again, it’s a pleasant scent but I prefer my vintage bottle of Le Male when I’m in a Le Male mood or something like Dior Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel when I’m wanting to wear a people-pleaser done right.
Performance was average in that it lasted 5-6 hours and projected moderately on my skin. Overall, a nice scent that will liked and won’t be hated, and is not likely to offend. While I would not own a bottle now…perhaps when it hits the deep-discount market. We shall see.

  49. :

    3 out of 5

Much like the opinion below me, I can’t help but guess most people took one sniff offor of a strip they spritzer a couple sprays on to. This Le Male flanker is finally something good to write home about as far as JPG Flanders go. Y9u still get the Le Male dna…only mixed with a slight hint of Versace Eros thrown in as well as Invictus by Paco Robban. This scent smells WONDERFUL. and that can not be understated. It’s got a manly fresh smell that’s perfect for warmer weather yet they mix in that bubblegum smell to go with that aquatic. It smells like a minty Tonka bean to me and smells fantastic to every woman iv had smell me. The dry down makes it into more of a skin scent and the longevity leaves much to be desired but this thing still packs a wallop if you can carry it in an atomizer and reapply when needed. Starts of fresh, aquatic and sweet…..and drys down to a mity, woodsy and still slightly sweet scent. This is one Le Male flanker worthy of buying a couple bottles of.

  50. :

    Well,
Smells just like Cuba Green Edt for $10. Fresh soap, fresh washed cloths. Not worth the high price of $60. It’s max $25. Don’t buy it till price goes down. Nothing to lose.

  51. :

    4 out of 5

Wonderful, invigorating scent. Minty / fresh/ athletic.
Downside to Popeye Eau Fraiche is that the projection/performance/sillage takes a nosedive after the first hour in my experience.

  52. :

    4 out of 5

Surprisingly nice warm weather offering from JPG. Definitely get hints of original Le Male, AHS and Eros.(this could have easily been Eros Eau Fraiche IMO) Pretty straight forward and linear mint and tonka scent for the most part. However, the aldehydes and ambroxan add a nice airiness and salty depth to the composition. I get a very slight herbal vibe in the background as well. A fair amount of bubblegum sweetness in here also, which I enjoy.
I did however learn the hard way the first time I did a full wearing…..to me this is NOT a summer scent. I put on 3 sprays on a sunny, mid-80’s day and just about made myself sick. Hour after hour of getting bashed with a semi-heavy tonka/minty sweetness. So just like AHS, I’m going to save this gem for 75* and under days;) Longevity and projection are both slightly above average for me.

  53. :

    5 out of 5

i get the mint in the top. it’s sweeter, kinda reminds me of a sweeter Liz Claiborne Curve. Dries a little bit stickier sweet than the classic.

  54. :

    3 out of 5

I know, I know. This is a mans cologne, the packaging and name makes that quite clear. But I absolutely love this sent (on me) and it smells like a perfect gender neutral scent in my opinion. I mostly pickup the aldehydes, vanilla & mint. However I find the sage, not the clary sage that is quite weak, but sage note to be quit predominate. The tonka, amber and sandalwood are soft but present in the dry down. Perfect for a casual, hot, Summer day.

  55. :

    3 out of 5

good fragrance. I was hoping there was more mint and it was cooler. but it is good as well. vanilla and mint i smell … no other. if was more minty was perfect .very low performance. sillage non existent and longevity of skin parfum. shame because the smell is delicious. with a little more of mint and more performance would become the smell of summer for excellence. 7/10 just for the delicious smell.
    good for all year.

This was very minty the first thing I noticed, vert fresh i don’t know how to describe this bedside minty, I last ok I can smell the freshness throughout the day and reapply every 5 hours.

  58. :

    5 out of 5

It smells like a fusion between Le Male with Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. With a strong mint note on top. Great stuff but the dry down its kinda boring and it has longevity problems on my skin.

  59. :

To my nose this is almost identical to Thallium Sport.

  60. :

I just bought this fragrance a few days ago and have been wearing it. It smells like mint gum with a dose of ozone layer. Quite feminine actually.
    Pros:
Yes, great compliment getter, lasts quite a while. I would describe it as fresh, but in a bright way. Although it’s fresh I would also describe it as heavy/thick because of the vanilla.
    Cons:
When I first sprayed this, it was great, but after constantly smelling it this fragrance to me gets very annoying. If you can stand the headache, wear it I guess but there are MUCH better options this summer. I can understand why this gets a lot of compliments because people will only be smelling you briefly.
I guess I should have tested it out before I bought it.
    Compliments: 3.7/5
    Smell to my nose: 2/5
    Performance: 3/5

Nothing like le male at all. It’s good, different not a generic standard scent. Only downfall with 5 sprays to the front of my shirt it’s weak but been hanging on pretty good for 4 hours if it had power maybe I would recommend but you be the judge. Safe blind buy

I just bought this couple of hours ago and I have to say that I like this version even better than the original, which is one of the best fragrances on the market. This is much more airy and more fresh. I haven’t smelled Fleur Du Male or the gazzillion summer flankers of Le Male, so I can’t make a comparsion to them but this is very much what I thought and hoped for the Le Male summer version to smell.
    10/10

Pleasantly surprised when I sniffed this at a department store (and picked up a bottle). A fresh, clean and aquatic scent, with the original Le Male signature (slightly sweeter). Good longevity(7-8 hours), good sillage (for about 2 hours) and an absolute compliment getter. You really can’t go wrong with this stuff, a must buy for Summer 2016. Popeye is a winner! (9/10).

This is a super simple mint fragrance with a slight sweetness of ambroxan and tonka. It’s about half the strength of Versace Eros and without the spicy wood base, this is simply a vanilla base. I do think this is a barebones sweet mint juice. It’s very well done and classy. It’s not too loud, but does last very long as 4 inch projection skin scent. Projects nicely for about 1.5 hours and then it gets a bit tight to your skin. I love this stuff personally, it’s not too much like Ultra Male, it’s only slightly sweeter than the original Le Male, and it’s not very bubble gummy like others have mentioned. It’s a very pleasant and inoffensive scent. Some might feel it’s a bit bland, and I get that, but sometimes a soft sweet mint is really quite nice. 8/10

This fragrance I recently bought on the basis that it makes me smile and lifts my mood ..it goes really well with summer and warm evenings..bubblegum..creamy spearmint and a aquatic twist ..doesn’t project like a beast but projects enough and moderate longivity ..it’s a very playful take on le male that is obviously going to please young lady’s, the lady’s in the store were going wild over this. It’s one of those fragrances that you should wear in a good mood but a little mischievous. Perfect for a date

Here in Ireland we got a frosty drink called Slush Puppy. And this smells just like the blue flavoured one

Le Male Popeye is a scent to enjoy the summertime. It contains Ultra Male bubblegum vibe, Invictus freshness and the original Le Male signature. Something feminine with the sage note I find. A good scent to have fun with.

I’m really not getting all the “i’m funny and sarcastic” comments about the Popeye Edition (tom and jerry? power rangers? really, guys?).
Popeye is a classic cartoon, that embodies the ‘healthy ladies-man sailor’ guy that Le Male advertises. Yes, in a very cartoonish version, but still…
Awesome bottle for the collectors of Le Male. Also, a different enough scent for someone who likes the original, but wants a little twist.

I never thought I’d like another Le Male again. This is either through not trying them because they are just the original formula in a new bottle. Alternatively, the whole appeal of Le Male flankers just being lost on me or even if it is the original, the new formulations are worse than what I remember from the 90’s having been thoroughly put off by over use.
I don’t have anything against Le Male, I kinda like the smell on other people it just goes sour when it dries down on my skin.
Popeye eau fraiche is somehow different? Maybe it’s the ambroxan but I get an overall much more comforting and sweet smelling vanilla with a hint of tonka and some fresher notes in the opening. Popeye is now on clearance sale in the UK and I’m tempted to pick up a bottle.
Update: Right I’m wearing this now and it does open with a aldehyde and aquatic vibe, crossed with classic le male and then a sweet, bubblegum/banana medicine thing…a la Ultra male. It’s weird to me that a mixture of abroxan, salty aquatic, milky le male fougere and insipid sweetness actually works. The drydown is pleasant any stronger or more projecting and I think it could cross the line into cloying. The key here is balance, it’s as simple as that. I stick to my initial thoughts I like it and I genuinely like Popeye as well so it’s a winner.

It’s a mix between the original and the bubblegumish vibe of Ultra Male. That bubblegum vibe is on the back and i think that it came from the mix of tonka and ambroxan. It has some aldehydes to make it more airy-fresh. Nothing special for me.

I’ve tried different Le Males….and was pleasantly surprised when I sampled this. I’m pretty cynical about flankers and did not like Ultra Male. Having said that, I sniffed this at a department store and like it. It’s fresh but has a slightly heavier base. I don’t know if this is truly a ‘summer’ fragrance, but this is something you could wear all year long I believe.

Great scent for the summer. if you combine Paco Black xs, Le male original and an aquatic scent you have this.

It’s pleasant! but I wouldn’t make the purchase. It sort of has a fresh bubblegum vibe and a certain fruitiness that reminds me of Invictus. I could see this as a nice clubbing scent even though I can’t comment on performance yet.

Original Le Male meets Ultra Male and Chanel Allure Homme Sport and guess what – the combination really rocks my world! I got so hooked up with this scent that I had to buy two bottles immediately (it’s a limited edition you know). I was very skeptical to even try this, since usually the summer versions of Le Male have NOT been different enough to the original one. But this one is something else indeed! The top notes of aldehydes and neroli (possibly mint too, though my nose doesn’t detect it so clearly) makes me think of the freshness of Allure Homme Sport and Nikos Sculpture, but I can also recognize the
